I can't stop thinking about a universe were they make peace before the movie. And toddler Daniel forcing the seekers to watch Rio.

Because birdies, obviously.

Skywarp:

would absolutely love the movie

got really excited during the escape the plane scene

Definitely did not cry during multiple scenes

Got upset every time a song was interrupted

Scared of the bulldog character

Traumatized by the cockatoo being a cannibal

Thundercracker:

would really like the movie too but would be less expressive of it,

would be really into storytelling aspect of it

thought the whole Carnival aspect was pretty cool

Fucking hated the cockatoo it reminds him of someone

Starscream:

actually really enjoyed the movie but would never tell anyone that

was tense during the blizzard scene

Traumatized by the end of "Real in Rio" song.

Accidentally verbalized this excitement at the plane Escape scene

Was secretly jealous of the bird couples

Laughed when the cockatoo got hit by the plane

All:

The Smuggler's made them uncomfortable

Resonated with the fear of being flightless

Thought the birds dancing with their wings was pretty

Got upset at the birds in the cages

Flinched with Jewel got her Wing Crushed

Cheered when blue learned how to fly, all but Skywarp denied this

Not that I've ever thought the live-action Netflix Avatar show was going to be good, but...

I do think people are blowing a lot of this out of proportion. Again, this is an adaptation, not a 1:1 translation. There's going to be a lot of differences. There's a whole lot of "Oh, they RUINED IT!" going around, and the show's not dropping for another three weeks.

It's all just a question of how effectively they're going to streamline it, and whether the character arcs and actions are going to make sense.

[chemistry] it's not a word that actors [use]. but you must endeavor a little bit to try and fall in love, in whatever that capacity is. and andrew is a very easy person to fall in love with. he's kind, generous, talented. we shot the film at the perfect junction in our friendship where there was a lot we didn't know about each other, but there was mutual admiration and respect. and a similar sense of humor. (...) yeah, it felt fizzy when we were acting. especially with that first scene at the door -- it's so well-written. you feel like you're dancing through the scene, you can go in loads of different ways, and if i went one way, andrew would go another. if that's what chemistry is, i was aware it was happening.

#i just find this whole acting thing & the process actors have to go through very fascinating. how so many of them have said that your --#mind knows that it's not real; it's make-believe but your body doesn't & it gets blurred & your body gets tricked into thinking it's --#actually experiencing all of that. no wonder sometimes actors need to take some time to recover from/get over a specific role they played.#i just recently saw claire foy talk about this & how 'you're falling in love with a person you're not in love with.' and there's a --#psychological thing happening where you can either suspend belief or you can make real what's happening. and that it can get very confusing #& how when she was watching this movie her body would react -- tears & heart palpitations -- but not because of what she saw on screen --#but because she (her body) was remembering it. it's wild & i don't think i'd ever be able to do it.#reminds me of what jessica chastain said about 'scenes from a marriage' & how her & oscar's years long friendship was changed after that #idk how these people do it; honestly; especially those actors who play really dark characters & put themselves in their minds (evan peters)#paul mescal #andrew scott #all of us strangers

started watching A Murder At The End of the World and i'm only like 4 minutes in rn but oh my fucking god, they already did the impossible, they made synthesizing a literal audience not only not annoying but actually intriguing and effective. holy shit.

#james talks #james watches stuff #a murder at the end of the world #if you're new here or have never consumed any media: synthesizing a literal audience is one of the most annoying things anything can do #it is at best distracting and at worst condescending and grating bc it assumes and assigns audience reactions and interpretations #and it also REEKS of a lack of faith in the material itself to be able to speak for itself #most of the time it's done for no real purpose and the few times it has a narrative purpose it's done awfully #even a movie i ADORE like SCREAM (1996) was not immune to this.#the one single flaw in that movie to me is Kenny repeating the 'behind you' joke. not only is it not funny the second time but it's—#synthesizing the audience by making the characters an audience to the same movie as us and telling us how we should be reacting.#another movie that tries to do this and fails miserably is like Halloween: Resurrection which tries to make some commentary—#on media as exploitative entertainment and the audience as willing participants and equally culpable in the continuation of trauma but the—#execution of it is absolutely horrible and that's even beyond how bad the rest of the movie is.#every time the characters are watching the same media or there's an actual audience in the media it's literally never gone well—#at least as far as i have experienced. but this is the first time a literal audience in anything has actually worked bc it's like—#right in the opening and it's the audience actually getting invested in the story so THAT audience responding the same way actually WORKS #actually borderline genius tbh

did anyone else who watched the Barry finale notice that in that scene where Hank was crying the closeups showed him all hunched over and scrunched up with emotion but when it cut to John you could see that the person behind him… who presumably was Hank…. was completely stiff and upright. like… horrible continuity

#Barry hbo #this isn’t even the first time something that slippin happened though #I started noticing it in season 3 #when a character (forgot his name) is reacting to a battle beneath him they play the same clip twice at one point #in season 4 there’s a shot where Fuches is being beaten and you very clearly see that no contact is being made. like VERY clearly #and there’s gotta be a few shots where a character is talking with their face turned away but you can tell that there’s no chin movement #like come on isn’t this supposed to be bill working on his directing chops for movies. dude pay attention to stuff

Kreese definitely was abusive to all the Cobras and left a mark on them back then but Johnny was always a focus for him from the very start.

#The Cobras deserve to have their abuse/how they reacted heard but you dont need to act like it there wasn’t abuse favorites #no need to say his was so little or the same level. abusers usually have a focus and hit the rest as treats #and THAT is still abuse worthy of sympathy and attention #was this not always clear? and even Martin has said repeatedly with no prompt that he always thought Kreese loved Cobra kai the most but #Johnny second in his own fucked up way. That was always Martin’s view and goal #so I dont understand why people act like Johnny’s abuse wasn’t especially potent and focused compared to the other Cobras #ANY reason to push Johnny to the side and shit on his character. right?#I’ve seen this take multiple times and while I respect people’s opinions #it’s wrong to dumb down somebody’s abuse to bring up others bc you hate the character #If you don’t trust Cobra Kai. even the movies show this clearly #This isn’t about anything specific. People I’ve spoken to and people have posted this take and I don’t understand at all #It an accumulation. So if you have this take dont be offended just look away.

I've watched Scream 6 so many times at this point to talk about it that I genuinely can't take it seriously anymore.

I just think it's funny.#Like I'm watching the post Gale scene right now and all I can think is why did it take so long for you to react to Sam's words.#Why were those seconds wasted? It didn't look good. It didn't add anything. It just wasted time.#I think Scream 5 and 6 have a problem where they want to be focussed on a character for a scene but then they want to show the other side #of that scene for other characters but instead of having the camera just show all the characters they show 1 reacting and then 2 reacting #in a way that makes it seem like it's one long scene but it's NOT it's them both reacting to the same moment shown one after the other.#does that make sense?

its important to watch a new movie or read a new book sometimes. largely because 1) its nice to experience all the art this world has to offer but also 2) you might be able to find new scenarios to imagine your OCs in

#it gets the cogs turning if ur imaginary scenarios get stale #wait did anyone else do this. when i was a kid i played with my toys in the very storytelling heavy style #like every toy was a character type thing. ten million large spanning melodramatic stories of epic proportions with my littlest pet shops #like that was the type of play i liked. and i would #sit in front of the TV with whatever playing half watching cartoons #or watching some kids movie on vhs borrowed from the library back when they still had tapes #and the whole time i would be playing with my toys. seeming more engrossed in the story among my toys than the movie i was watching #but i WAS watching the movie i was just using it largely as a. jumping off point. to make up stories about like #my lps cat who can see ghosts and her search for her long lost twin sister or something #Oh god and when i was a little older like 10 years old making ms paint animations age #whenever i was watching a movie with like famiy or in class or whatever and maybe it was a little boring at parts #i would like. start focusing on the score only and just imagine my own sparklewolf OCs to it instead of paying attention #my dad often fondly remembers watching avatar in theatres with the whole family and looking over to me and seeing me mentally GONE hfkjdfhs #mother and older brother were pretty engrossed with the effects and visuals and i was like. eyes glazed over staring into space #imagining blue wolves with anime hair like :) my dad thought it was very funny. he cant judge the reason he was looking around was because #often hes more interested in watching other people react to a movie than the movie itself LOL we are cut from similar cloths..#i still dont remember a thing about that movie. but the score wasnt bad HJKDBJFKLSHJFDs #but yeah i dunno. watch a horror movie. think about putting your ocs through the horrors. thats how ive lived my entire life

#captain laserhawk #beyond good and evil #Pey'J #Much prefer this to his Laserhawk counterpart and not just because of that one scene #Laserhawk Pey'J feels very much like an arrangement of tropes to fit the show's narrative? Idk how else to describe it #BGE Pey'J feels way more like an actual person who has more to him than “Jade's uncle”#He isn't afraid to be goofy and raunchy as well as having relationships with other characters #While in Laserhawk (for the utter worse) his character is tied to Jade and he barely reacts to anyone after killing Pagan Min #I think it's partly because they do nothing with the weird incest thing but Pey'J could've been literally anyone else TBH #Still think he should've died first and Jade lived (preferably for the whole show because she deserves better!)#I need to watch the cutscene collection “movie” proper but that's just my thoughts on skimming through stuff

oh i think people might've come here from my comic thinking im a huge scu fan, im actually a hater (full of love)

#listen the movies are fine and theyre fun and i have a lot of fun when i watch them #and they make sense in their own canon and its all fine #but thats not my man thats someone else #hes fine and cute and i like him but thats not the same character #especially when you think that both sonic and knuckles basically exchanged backstories #its very obvious when youre writing fic and tryingt o figure out how a character would react to situation #and you realize that what the scu characters would so is like the opposite of what the game characters would act #xd #you know #hey i like the movies #but im not gonna pretend they're the best characterization of any of these characters cause theyre not #i do appreciate the found family especially the inclusion of knuckles #game canon would never give us that im very happy with that they did in the movies #STILL #i hope you get me
