Summary: The Solreef family is having a rough night and ends up in pairs comforting each other after a series of nightmares, ending in a proposal that will change their family forever.

My thoughts: 19k words of absolutely gorgeous writing! The parallel scenes work beautifully to create the suspense that both looms over the story and is intertwined with sweet familial moments. Rayni, Linh, Tam, and Wylie are written delightfully well, as are Tiergan and Prentice and their relationship. This fic is the perfect blend of humour, angst, and fluff, all while exploring and expanding upon the characters' canon selves. For any Tiertice or Solreef family enjoyers, this fic is definitely the fic for you.

KOTLC + Singing Voice + Instruments

For reference, mezzo refers to mezzo soprano or soprano two, and soprano refers to soprano one.

(yes i know these are human things. WHO. CARES.)

Sophie - a solid alto. Cannot play any instruments but can sing pretty decently.

Stina - mezzo, definitely, although if she really wanted she could sing either soprano or alto. Can play the viola.

Maruca - tenor. Plays the violin.

Linh - mezzo, plays the erhu (Chinese two-stringed violin), the actual violin, and the piano

Marella - cannot sing <3. plays the trombone and recorder simply to annoy people and also because

Biana - can sing. I'm projecting on her for this, so she can sing almost anything you give her, except for low lows. She has a phenomenal range. Anyway, it's because she had too much time as a rich kid. She can play the piano, flute, and violin.

Rayni - soprano. hums music all the time, no one really knows until Linh hears her one day. they bond over that. anyway, doesn't have time for other instruments, but could play the oboe and is picking it up again.

Wylie - can't sing. period. but can play the flute, because Cyrah did.

Keefe - i'm sorry. but keefe cannot play any instrument EXCEPT the otomatone. he is really good at it. it's the main thing that caused Fitz and his falling out.

Fitz - has a really good alto. Biana and him dueted once, and everyone realized they're at least a little in love with one of the vacker siblings (if of appropriate age, obviously)

Tam - tenor. just... tenor. He was forced to play the same instruments as Linh, so he can play the erhu, violin, and piano

Dex - can't sing. just... can't. he doesn't actually play any conventional instruments, either, but what he does do is make music boxes.

Jensi - pretty good alto. no more elaboration necessary. plays the recorder and the trumpet.

Pure curiosity, but I gotta ask, who is your favorite kotlc character?

Keefe Sencen. No competition.

I love SO MANY of the characters, of course. Fitz and Biana are definitely up there, and I adore Sophie—also MARELLA!!!! And Dex deserves everything. Also Linh ajdkdhsndjdjdhs LINH gosh there’s so many, and don’t even get me started on Rayni Aria—

But there’s something about Keefe and the way I connect to his defense mechanisms. Or maybe it was the IMMACULATE betrayal arc and the many bad decisions shannon let his character make while still being sympathetic and in character. The way he’s reckless but caring, needs to be unserious and lighthearted so he doesn’t break down…. Also stellarlune (the initiative not the book) and the whole legacy thing, how unlike Sophie he wasn’t made by the good guys but he’s choosing to be good, the playful flirting coupled with the serious devotion, I JUST CANT I LOVE HIM SO MUCH.

I know there are people who dislike him lately but I just can’t. I adore his character. And although I wish we could get some more content for the other characters cause I ADORE them, I’m high key excited for unraveled even tho it’s a .5 book

Maruca kinda likes human fashion from all over the world, especially street fashion. She reads magazine publications about it whenever she wants a break from all the stress in her life. It's not like a hobby or interest as much as it is a passtime, because magazines have short passages so they're easy for her to get through in ask those languages. Weirdly enough, because of this, she actually does the most leisure reading out of any character, since the rest kind of forget to take care of themselves.

Rayni was totally a horse girl growing up and wanted to work on a unicorn preserve, until someone in her class when she was really young told her she'd have to do a bunch of super gross chores. After that, she basically forgot about it until one day she had to do something for the Neverseen that she found so repulsive it reminded her of that feeling she'd had all the way back then. Looking back, she found it silly how easy she gave up when she was small.

I hope these are satisfactory because I admittedly don't know that much about these two
