It's 2024 and I'm still seeing Dany stans out there making Dany defense posts for the show. "It's bad writing!" "She would never do anything that bad ever!" "She's still alive in the books!" "She has literally never done anything wrong in her life ever!" And I'm like:
Like stan who you're gonna stan and enjoy the story in the books, sure. But Dany's showverse character DID do bad things. Dany's showverse character DID something majorly wrong and did not make the best choices. Dany's showverse character DID die. And it is not bad writing that A) her character got an ending that you didn't like but it made sense for her story & B) that it followed the trajectory of her story that has been set up from the beginning of the show. If it wasn't there then I'd agree with you but it was. Dany was always going to go dark. Get over it. The only bad writing that happened as far as she was concerned was the rushing of her dark turn, the finale throne room scene dialogue (which was put in there because Emilia asked for it), and the execution of it. That's it.
It's been almost five years, people. As people get told about Jon and Sansa and Cersei all the time, the show is over. Stop with the constant stream of excuses and bs already and just accept it. Enjoy the books and write your fanfics for the show. Of course, she's still alive in the books! They're not finished yet and that's her bookverse character. Look up the definition of the word adaptation and then google how books get adapted to the TV screen if you must. But stop saying it was bad writing. Dany going dark was there from the first freaking episode and GRRM was involved! So come on already. Please stop putting this shit in the Dany tag. You make it so hard for the rest of us who enjoy(ed) Dany's showverse character and Emilia's brilliant performance.

saw the question “cersei, rhaenyra, and alicent are trapped in a box together who’s crying first?” and it’s so obvious it hardly bears asking but it’s fun anyway. i love alicent more than anything but that woman is never more than two (2) mean remarks from crying. she breaks down sobbing immediately and the longer they’re stuck in the box the more it unravels rhaenyra’s nerves bc she still has a heart and alicent’s pathetic wet kitten demeanor and gorgeous brown eyes captivate her. she begins to tear up. lip wobbling hands trembling. cersei is disgusted by all of this bc she hates women and begins clawing at the walls trying to escape.

the one thing i always hate about that line about daemon whinging on at viserys for not making him the hand is that the hand of the king is a political position that requires political skill in order to function well and get the job done and daemon has spent the entire series showing us that he has the political instincts of a lobotomized tuna fish
#personal#house of the dragon#the reason why otto worked so well as hand of the king was because he knew how to do the fucking politics#like him trying to get himself in rhaenyra's good graces in ep 2 once she was made heir#by giving her advice on how to talk to knights she was picking for the kingsguard#that was smart politics#getting on the good side of the future ruler and trying to make yourself invaluable from the getgo is a smart political decision#daemon pissing off everyone and their mother every five minutes and not trying to do anything to curry favor#is bad politics#daemon refusing to try and play nice with otto and get on his good side is bad politics!!!#maybe you'd have been heir if otto wasn't determined to campaign against you for it because you're an idiot daemon!!!#like this is a core element of the literal main series#cersei had a daemon style mindset of fuck you got mine and eschewed politics in the favor of her own gripes about things#and it ends badly for her! trying to do the hand's job without the skill required really fucks her over!#it's why tywin worked as a politician and she didn't!!#this fucking country would have fallen apart if daemon had been the hand#i also blame viserys for somehow failing to point out that daemon would be a profoundly shitty hand#and that the choice to have it be otto isn't a slight against him like he's crying on about#but a tactical and political choice that is made to keep the politics running smoothly so the country doesn't collapse into the sea
