Superlatives: Rumbelle Lifetime Achievement Award.
Each year, from among the Rumbelle community, we find an individual who, either by creating or doing something spectacular in the fandom, stands out above the crowd. Perhaps they made people feel welcome, or organized events. It may be that they contributed something unique, never before seen or experienced in the Rumbelle fandom, or they, in some way, embodied the fandom as a whole. Each of this years’ nominees have met these criteria in spades, and for that they deserve our recognition, a place in the Rumbelle ‘Hall of Fame; the fandom’s congratulations and our respect for the outstanding contribution they have made to our community.

For Your Consideration
In light of the fact that the nomination deadline has been extended, I am going ahead and putting some suggestions out there for fics that could be nominated. I've chosen some of my lesser known fics for this purpose.
Time's Curse
Never fall in love - such is the admonition given to Rumplestiltskin. Blue sees fit to interfere with his plan to reach a world without magic by sending him there herself so that he can pursue his quest to find his son, but he is not alone in this world without magic, nor does it appear that he is entirely free to live his life as he would wish. In the course of his seemingly fruitless search for Baelfire, Rumplestiltskin takes a job as a history teacher at an exclusive private school, and there meets Isabelle - the French teacher. All of a sudden that interdiction against falling in love seems to be really important.

On Whose Hands?
Belle has no memory of how she has so much blood on her hands, but it seems the townsfolk have turned against her, blaming her for some unseen crime. Rumplestiltskin, under the control of the Dark One's Dagger, held by Zelena, suddenly appears and makes matters a whole lot worse. Canon compliant variation of what might have happened when Rumple was trying to warn the people of Storybrooke of Zelena's dark intentions during the time he was her prisoner.

Nobody knew the true cost of living with two lives in your head in a world where everyone else has forgotten one of them. Revenge, they say, is a dish best served cold, and when Regina casts Rumple's Dark Curse, just a few words here and there creates Storybrooke in a very different place, with a very different atmosphere, and very different issues to deal with. Alliances and enmity permeate the lives of the citizens of Storybrooke, (and beyond), as they tiptoe around the various dangers they face every day. Who is awake? How can they break the curse within a curse? And what of the power struggles rife both within, and outside of Storybrooke itself.

Casting a spell, any spell - at least the ones that involve more than just the wave of a hand, or worse, the wave of an irritating fairy’s wand - takes time, and patience, and the right ingredients, and… just like any recipe, if you get it wrong, it doesn’t mean the cake won’t cook, rather then will, just with unexpected or unintended outcomes. All of Rumplestiltskin’s careful planning and manipulation, all of his hopes and dreams turn to dust; ashes in his bitter heart in the blink of an eye… in the fall of an equine heart. Belle exchanges one terrible prison for another, and it’s one she is desperate to escape, and though Rumple’s fate as The Savior was severed from him centuries ago, sometimes fate itself has a way of finding an alternate route home.

All magic comes with a price, but this is one price that Rumplestiltskin is more than willing to pay.

Seven Tastes
Jefferson and Grace visit the Dark Castle to try and persuade Rumplestiltskin to celebrate the Winter Solstice. What begins with a hidden sprig of mistletoe leads through the emotional rollercoaster of a lifetime, that ends in a beautiful redemption.

Best Holiday-Centric
Angst - Hurts So Good
Methedhênlû
Rumplestiltskin is wisked away just as he is approaching the Dark Castle, and after a surprise visit from Jefferson, on a very strange day, Belle follows soon after. They find themselves in a world where darkness is approaching unless a sacrifice is made, and all because a king is unwilling to join the war; would much rather save his own, than become a hero and save the world.

Nah guys, I don't get this. The Golden Globes was trending too, and now Critics Choice Awards is.... when there is an active genocide going on and most of those celebrities support Israel (most by staying silent). How can this be people's agenda? Those celebrities wear fancy clothes and go to their fancy parites to eat their fancy food and be with their other celebrity friends (away from the "common folk") and that has always been absurd to me, but now it's even more absurd when there is a GENOCIDE happening. How can people still talk about those celebrities without being disgusted? Silence IS supporting the oppressor!

BUILDING TIPS
If you want them to function like walls, combine them with invisible walls, fences, windows, etc. You may need to use the grid on/off cheat to move pieces slightly outside of a four-walled room. Otherwise, the game will consider the object “inside” the room and it will go dark.
Fencing is recommended when placing floor tiles directly above the pieces to reduce flickering. Also, you can fill gaps with Roof Niche 001/002, Wall Deco 001/002, and the Corner Niche.

I did a short interview for an alumni spotlight on the CCA website. You can click through but I'll also just copy my answers below the cut.
Maia Kobabe (e/em/eir) is a nonbinary/queer/trans author and illustrator, a voracious reader, a k-pop fan, and a daydreamer. You can learn an astonishing number of intimate details about em in Gender Queer: A Memoir and in eir other short comics, published by The New Yorker, The Nib, The Washington Post and in many print anthologies. Gender Queer won a Stonewall Honor and an Alex Award from the American Library Association in 2020. It was also the most challenged book in the United States in 2021 and 2022.
Maia shares more about eir life as a full-time artist and activist, fighting to protect diverse literature and the freedom to access information.
1. What is your current practice/business?
I am a full time cartoonist. My job consists of days working at home writing and drawing mixed with days speaking out against book banning and censorship, and in support of the freedom to read, the freedom to teach, and the freedom to access information. I spend a lot of time talking with other authors, teachers, and librarians about protecting diverse and queer books from the current wave of conservative attacks. The first piece I drew for the comics journalism site The Nib was about the rise of fascism in the United States; my later writing about queer, trans, and nonbinary identities has led me into consistently political territory.
2. Why did you choose CCA?
I chose CCA because I was looking for a MFA Comics program, of which there are very few, and I wanted to stay in the Bay Area. Because I'm a local, I was able to meet the majority of the MFA Comics faculty before I applied and felt immediately welcomed into their community. The fact that a majority of my professors for the first year of the program were queer was a huge draw as well.
3. If you could share one piece of advice with current or future students, what would it be?
Every single person has a story only they could tell. No matter what media you are working in, do your best to tell the story which is uniquely yours. If you aren't ready to tell it yet, just keep making art until the time to share that story arrives. No time spent creating is ever wasted.
4. What's your secret to staying inspired and creative?
I realized fairly early in life that my very favorite way to spend the day was drawing while listening to music, a podcast, or an audiobook. I like making things! I would rather be making things than doing almost anything else. I created a life in which I can spend a lot of time creating things and even if I don't particularly know what I am making, I am happy.
5. What do you have coming up?
My second book, Breathe: Journeys to Healthy Binding, written with Dr Sarah Pietzmeier, is coming out in May 2024 from Dutton. It's a nonfiction comic about chest binding as an aspect of trans healthcare. I'm currently drawing my third book, Saachi's Stories, written with Lucky Srikumar; it's due out from Scholastic Graphix in 2026. I am also working on adapting Gender Queer: A Memoir into an audiobook.

30. 01. 2024.
today was a complete slack day… i did a tiny bit of coding in the morning which consisted of staring confusedly at the training slides haha
met with my primary sch friends for lunch after 3 years, spent 4h just catching up
went for the first cca session of the year!! stargazing is so fun!! there was also a lecture on dark matter which was quite interesting!
the pic looks meh but the stars were rly pretty to look at using telescopes and binocs
