wow! final part! i can’t believe it! thanks for joining me on this wild ride, and i hope that you continue to read whatever i write next!

hyunjin watches as your figure retreats farther and farther

he wanted nothing more than to chase after you and explain to you what was actually going on

but how could he??

his mom explicitly told him

“hyunjin,, if you don’t follow through with this marriage we’ll have to disown you. then what would you do?”

like w0w! harsh mom

hyunjin really really likes you

this isn’t new information

but he’s not ready to give up everything he’s ever known for you

so he really has no other choice than to marry mirai right?

right?

so what if he has to marry someone he doesn’t love?

his parents have been controlling every single thing he does

all the more reason you shouldn’t follow through with this marriage!!!! hyunjin thinks

but-

“hey! your parents want us to announce the engagement” mirai says as she breaks hyunjin’s train of thought

“right now?”

“right now.”

“can’t they like.. wait a sec?”

“nope! you know how they are”

hyunjin looks exhausted

he HEAVILY sighs and tries racking his brain for ANY excuse he can think of

cause he’s just not ready

and he’s just not sure if he can announce his engagement RIGHT NOW

and it’s not like he can just CANCEL the engagement

cause the last thing he needs is the press to EAT that up

you know and ruin the reputation of the royal family

so if he cancels the engagement now when no one knows about it

then all the better

hyunjin just

needs more time to decide that he’s making the right choice

but his time is literally running out

“hey..” he hears mirai say, “you’re not sure about getting married to me huh”

“ah.. am i that obvious?”

“you look panicked and deep in thought, wanna tell me what’s up?”

“do we have the time?” hyunjin laughs

“eh what are they gonna do? announce our engagement without us?”

“you never know what those crazy royals do”

mirai walks over to hyunjin and sits down next to him

“it’s just..” hyunjin sighs, “i’m not sure about this engagement..”

“is it because of that girl? y/n?”

“i mean, it’s true, i do really really like y/n, and i wish we gave us a shot before this whole thing happened. and i can’t call off the engagement without being disowned by my parents BUT I’M JUST so sick of being controlled by them!”

“hyunjin.. i can’t make this decision for you, but i think you know what you have to do”

truth is

hyunjin has always known what he wanted to do

he just needed a friend to talk to

him and mirai talk for a little longer

and then hyunjin smiles

“ready?” hyunjin asks mirai

“ready!” mirai exclaims

and they both walk out together

meanwhile

after you left hyunjin in the garden

you go back into the ballroom

and find yeji and felix

“hey.. y/n” felix says

“hey felix, yeji..”

the fact that you’re visibly exhausted raises a couple flags for the both of them

with preparations for the ball and trying to figure out your feelings and getting the most out of your vacation in europe

“are.. are you okay?” felix asks

“well,, to be honest, no. but! it’s okay, we’re leaving tomorrow night so i’ll be okay”

very vague but they both believe you

“yeji,,, can we,, rent a room tonight? i don’t really feel like staying at the palace anymore...”

“of course we can, we can leave right now since it’s over anyway and it’ll take a long time for us to get ready”

then you turn to felix and say

“felix!! come with us and sleepover!!! i don’t want to leave you just yet” you pout

you’re lucky you’re cute and felix loves you

“of course y/n!”

so the three of you sneak out of the ball

and plan to spend the night trying to forget about a certain handsome but engaged prince (◕︿◕✿)(◕︿◕✿)

four hours before you have to hop on a plane and kiss europe goodbye

so of course

where would you be?

drinking coffee on cobblestone streets of course

look back at the trip you took

to be fair,

you don’t regret taking the trip

you don’t regret falling for him

you regret not telling him sooner

but what’s done is done

you get up with your empty coffee in your hand, your phone in the other because you were supposed to text yeji when you were ready to head to the airport

when all of a sudden

you walk smack dab into someone

part of you is hoping he says it went horrible and no one’s gonna follow through with it

“oh you didn’t see? it’s not happening, i talked to mirai right before we were supposed to announce it”

listen this is your way of coping with it because there’s no way hyunjin cancelled his engagement right

he laughs

“where do i even begin? i’m sorry for not taking you out on that date i promised, i’m sorry for not being in contact with you that week, i’m sorry if i made you feel like you were annoying or clingy or anything bad because you’re not. i’m not gonna make excuses for myself because you’ve never been nice to me,, actually well, the first time we met you weren’t the nicest to me”

“hey you called me dumb the first time we met!”

“... anyways,, i-”

“wait, sorry, why’d you end the engagement in the first place”

“truth is, my parents were threatening to disown me if i didn’t follow through with it”

now you’re in full panic mode

because

he really did just drop everything

“wait WHAT”

“yeah,, but i decided i was sick and tired of them controlling everything i did so i kinda just.. left?”

“HYUNJIN YOU CAN’T JUST LEAVE”

“well why not”

“i mean, does felix know? do you even have a place to stay? oh my god where are you gonna live how are gonna eat you can’t just-”

“hey, hey, relax it’s okay, i got it covered, i have connections too you know, the many perks of being a prince, er- well, ex prince now that my parents will probably disown me”

“but hyunjin-”

“hey it’s okay, i may not know what i’m doing but at least i’m free to make my own decisions, like taking you on that date i promised you” hyunjin says smiling

okay fine

you decide to drop it for now

and give hyunjin the benefit of the doubt

and besides he has yeji and felix and now you

so he’s not completely alone

hyunjin intertwines his hands in yours and starts leading you to god knows where when you remember

you kinda leave europe in like three hours

“WAIT” you say

“WHAT now”

you roll your eyes at him and say, “i need to meet yeji! we’re going home in three hours!”

“oh, OH, wow thank god i found you before you left huh”

“yeah that would’ve been,, pretty bad, so what now?”

“what now?”

“i mean, i have to go home, you have to deal with your parents and the whole british/korean media..”

“ah you’re right,,,,but still, let’s do it

“huh?”

“i’ve been thinking, i think i’m gonna pursue dancing.. i’ve got a little pocket money maybe i’ll go to school, or audition for a company, who knows? the ends are limitless, but all i know is that i want to give us a shot ”

you’re not fond of the whole long distance thing

but you’re not fond of not exploring whatever is going on with you and hyunjin

and i don’t think your feelings are going away anytime soon

so you might as well give it a try

“okay.”

“yeah let’s do it! who knows what’ll happen, but all i know is that i wanna explore whatever is happening here”

hyunjin pulls you in for a hug and mutters

“you won’t regret this, princess”

cue the blush

you and hyunjin walk together until you meet up with yeji and felix

yeji sees your hands intertwined and gives you the ‘bro what the heck’ look and you give the ‘i’ll explain everything on the plane ride home’ look

“jin, i have to go, they’re waiting for me” you pout

“ah right,, let’s exchange numbers”

“we don’t have each other’s numbers? and we’ve known each other for a month now? we’re so lame”

we’ll be lame together”

“oh god ssh”

“you better get used to this!!” hyunjin teases

“ah whatever,, bye hyunjin, i’ll see you soon okay?”

“don’t miss me too much, y/n!”

“ah too late!”

five years later

“yeji!!”

after five years

you and hyunjin are finally moving in together

five years of texting ‘good morning’ and ‘good night’ to each other

five years of flights to and from seoul where hyunjin’s dance university was

five years of facetime calls

and they were all finally coming to an end

hyunjin’s parents understood where he was coming from and decided to support him and his dance career

and he still got to keep his prince title

(lucky him am i right)

but most importantly

according to hyunjin

the most important thing to him

wasn’t his title

wasn’t even his dancing

nope! the most important thing to prince hwang hyunjin

was you

a/n: it’s 3:30 am and i haven’t slept so TECHNICALLY it’s still saturday night for me 〜(^∇^〜）hope you enjoy the second to last part! (long part today so i can end this series on the next part (⸝⸝⍢⸝⸝) ෆ )

all these thoughts start running through your head

once again

how long has he known and why did he tell you he had feelings for you if HE KNEW he was already engaged and if he knew he was engaged why did he even confess to you if it wasn’t just to play with your feelings and-

“oh! y/n!! it’s so great to finally meet you!!! hyunjin has said so much about you!!” mirai says, cutting your mental breakdown/overthinking/internal rant

so he HAS been talking about you

but more importantly what HAS he been saying about you?

you probably look like a dork because the shock hasn’t worn off yet

“hey mirai?” hyunjin says

“hm?”

“do you mind if i talk to y/n privately?”

“no not at all! i’ll let you two friends catch up!!”

because that’s all you guys were after all

you went on two (2) dates of course you weren’t dating

and he ditched his promise to take you on a date

so you’re trying NOT to cry

because it’s stupid

crying over a boy

who’s only taken you out on two dates

you take a deep breath

because you’re trying not to scream and yell at hyunjin

and even worse

you’re trying not to show him how you really feel

so you take a few breaths to calm yourself down

“you know what? i was trying to be a friend and worry about your future and your feelings because i wouldn’t want my friends to be forced into anything that they didn’t want. because that’s all we ever were. friends.” you seethe. “i’ll see you at the ball prince hyunjin”

with your head held high

you walked back into the palace

really fast

because tbh you felt the tears coming

you only wanted one person and one person only

you take the rest of the day to recuperate before talking felix or yeji and having to explain yourself

so that night you drag yourself to you and yeji’s shared room and call felix as well

because the bffs need to be updated

“hey yeji.. felix..”

“y/n! my baby!” yeji says

you can always count on yeji to be protective over you

and she has never let you down!!

unlike..

oh look at that you’re crying again

now yeji and felix are concerned

“y/n??????? what happened????? who do i need to fight????” they both say

you sob/laugh

a great sound

and you explain everything to yeji and felix

literally from the beginning so you know that they got the full story

from hyunjin spilling coffee on you to your verbal spats to paris to shopping to barcelona to him confessing to your try out date to you confessing to your actual date that ALL leads up to the confrontation you had with him in the garden

“thaT LITTLE RAT” yeji yells angerly, “felix, you’re his brother wtf is wrong with him??”

but felix also looks kinda shocked

“it’s kinda weird that i haven’t heard anything about the engagement,,, maybe he really did find out last night”

“even so! he practically ghosted her for the past week!”

“yeah that’s.. still really weird..”

“but enough about him,, y/n are you okay?”

“i.. don’t know.. do i JUST like him? or do i ˡᵒᵛᵉ ʰᶦᵐˀ ”

yeji sighs and replys

“y/n.. what you feel is what you feel, and no one can convince you otherwise”

“yeah don’t worry about it y/n, you’re leaving soon and we’ll have tons of fun at the ball and you won’t have to worry about him anymore!”

ah but that

kinda makes you sad

it was a really fun summer

all thanks to hyunjin

but it’s fine

he’s getting married!!

IT’S THE DAY OF THE BALL :00

who knew this day would come

also you’re leaving for home tomorrow (｡•́︿•̀｡)

you spent the rest of your days in london with felix and yeji

doing fun bff stuff that you never got to do

you also picked up your dress and did last minute shopping for the ball

because you’RE GONNA LOOK GORGEOUS

you also spent the last days avoiding hyunjin like THE PLAGUE

he was eating breakfast? guess you were just gonna have to starve

walking down the hallway? you yeeted yourself into the nearest room

it helped i guess because if you didn’t see him or talk to him then he CAN’T HURT you and your feelings can’t resurface !!!!!!

but anyways

the morning of the ball: hectic

everyone in the palace was running around setting it up

you were trying your best to help yeji and felix who were off supervising everything

(apparently this isn’t their first ball,,,,, royal kids am i right ╮(╯▽╰)╭ )

the morning speeds by and yeji yells at you that it’s time to get ready

this is the really fun part

the whole transformation look

like you don’t USUALLY go all out

but now you have an excuse!!

it’s a ball!!

at the buckingham palace!!

that yOU helped plan!!!!!

yeji hired a hair stylist and a makeup artist to help with this whole shabang

so you spent the next couple hours chilling and hanging out with yeji while you prepped for the ball!!

felix also popped in to hang out with you guys

and you were really happy!

but surprise surprise

your mind drifted off to hyunjin

you just hope he’s happy you know

by the time the ball rolls around you and yeji (finally) finish getting ready

and you make your way down the stairs

and felix is waiting for you

and surprise suprise

hyunjin is down by the stairs too

at this point

you know you look good

and you’re gonna have to face him eventually

might as well do it when you look good right?

“hey hyunjin..!!”

“ ᵒʰ oH hi.. y/n.. you look..-”

“great! i know!” you say as you wink and laugh

YEAH YOU LAUGHED BUT LIKE WAS THAT GENUINE BRO

“where’s mirai?” you ask

crossing fingers he’d say that he dumped her and that he wants you but like

that’s not reality

“i’m right here! y/n you look lovely!” she says

“aw mirai you do too!”

you glance at hyunjin

WHO’S STILL LOOKING AT YOU

luckily

felix is there to whisk you away before it got too suffocating yaknow

“y/n!! you look stunning!!” felix says

“thanks bro you’re not too bad yourself!!” you say

“come on we have to go outside to greet the press and then we can get our BALL on”

“omg please don’t ever say that” you say as you and felix both laugh

you go outside and take those press photos with felix

and then it’s hyunjin and mirai’s turn

and you hear the other guests murmur

“ah did you hear that they’re going to announce their engagement today?”

“oh? the prince of south korea and the princess of japan make such a cute couple”

and you’re just like

they’re not wrong

he’s really pretty, she’s really pretty

he’s a prince, she’s a princess

it’s almost like this match was so carefully planned out

...

anyways

you and felix make it into the ball

and sees the fruits of your labor

and it’s like ??? STUNNING if you do say so yourself

throughout the night, you’re having a lot of fun

eating and talking and laughing with yeji and felix

and next thing you know you hear felix say

“hey y/n it’s time to ballroom dance”

“whAT”

so APPARENTLY you HAVE to dance

because it’s a ball and APPARENTLY it’s what you do

“FELIX i don’t know how to dance!”

“it’s okay! i’ll teach you!”

so if you didn’t know

you kinda have two left feet

so you’re gonna look

a mess

so 5 minutes and 10 broken toes latter

and felix says

“wow, you’re actually kinda bad”

“WOW THANKS”

“we’re gonna need an expert hm?”

“yes please”

so you’re standing there

waiting for felix to come back

“hey.. felix said you needed to learn how to dance?”

you know that voice anywhere

you spent a month and a half with it

OH WAIT

OH NO

you frantically look around for felix

becAUSE HOW DARE HE GET HIM TO TEACH YOU!?!

unfortunately you don’t see him

you got used to it

with a couple mistakes here and there

but you guys just laughed it off and continued dancing

BUT you got the hang of it

“you look beautiful today” you hear him say

now we’re gonna ignore the clench in your heart and say

“thanks bro, you don’t look bad yourself, prince hyunjin” you respond with a goofy grin

i can’t believe you just bro’ed him

“i can’t believe you just bro’ed me” he says

and now people just saw you and hyunjin laughing as you guys danced around the dance floor

because hyunjin made it fun!

you two were so lost in the moment

you two looked like you were in your own world

you two felt like you were the only two people in the world

he lifts your intertwined hands up and says

“spin!”

so you spin

a little too much

and hyunjin has to pull you back close to him

and he’s staring at your lips which makes you stare at his lips

you step back so quick

and see hyunjin’s shocked face

“um, i-” you say, “i-i can’t”

“but y/n-” you hear him say but not before

you SPRINT as fast as you can to the gardens

because you know that the only place that’s safe

away from the ball, away from him, away from your feelings (but that doesn’t work out)

ah but too bad hyunjin FOLLOWS you

you make it through the doors when you hear a

“y/n!” hyunjin yells as he grabs your hand

you refuse to look back at him in fear your feelings overpower and do something you end up regretting

“talk to me,,” you hear, his voice cracks with a hint of sadness and laced with hurt

now this makes you look at him

because this HURTs your heart

and you see hyunjin’s eyes start to tear up

and you PHYSICALLY feel your heart breaking

but your mind (thank god) is still working and kicking and you refuse to give in

without hearing him out first

“you barely said anything to me, i haven’t seen you since i got back, i really,, miss you..” he says

for the first time, hyunjin’s mom is having dinner with you, hyunjin, yeji, and felix

so you kiinda knew something was up

and sure going with felix would have been fun

so why did a part of you not want to go with him anymore?

and you watch as hyunjin gets the ball out of tree

and the boys are awe because ‘woW big tall guy helped get the soccer ball out of the tree!!”

and so they ask if he can play with them for a while

and duh hyunjin says yes because who can say no to those two adorable boys

and so you watch as hyunjin plays soccer with the boys and think about how much fun he’s having and how much the kids love him and how cute he looks with the sun is hitting his face just right and-

“hey y/n you okay?”

“huh?”

hyunjin runs over and puts a hand on your forehead

“you look pretty dazed.. are you okay? and you’re kinda burning up?”

oh that’s probs because you made me blush but haha we’re ignoring that

before looking back at you with a look you can’t decipher

you just realize how etheral he looks with the moonlight shining on his face as he looks out into the london skyline

hyunjin shuts up and you put your earphones on and crank the volume up while you emotionally prepare for the day

next, you guys stop for coffee and lunch because ya’ll needed to recharge for the day ahead of you

they make some funny ones in paris

so the afternoon was filled with silly pictures and laughs that you shared with

none other than

the “devil” himself

sadly (???? were you actually enjoying your day?) , your day has come to an end

you and hyunjin decide to end your day by strolling through the jardin des tuileries

you forgot your feelings (you’re confused huh) for felix was a thing

and you guys walk to the top

and it’s night

and so pretty

almost as pretty as him

“i thought the eiffel tower closed already?”

“being a prince has it’s perks”

as you look out on the streets of paris

you can’t help but ask

“so... i shared my hopes and dreams... what’s yours?”

“..... to be normal”

“wow the prince wants to be normal? what a cliche! didn’t you just say being a prince has it’s perks?”

“it’s true! the cons DEFINITELY outweigh the perks! all the responsibility that they put on me?? crazy stuff”

BUT then all the events of the past hour replayed in your head

to be fair

you were a very tired bean at this point

you’re surprised you even made it to the train without passing out

“rich people problems am i right”

“hey let me share with you”

“what no get your own”

“silly they died remember”

“... ughh fine since you were so nice to me this trip” you say as you pull an earbud out

“thanks princess”

“it makes me feel funny inside” you say as you slowly fall asleep

at this point you MENTALLY facepalm

then you hear the girl behind you say

“she’s laying on his shoulder and he’s laying on her head AND they’re sharing earphones! that’s so CUTE”

and that’s the last thing you hear before you let sleep take over you once again
