it's been three months and I still haven't processed the Bentley playing Good Old-Fashioned Lover Boy at Crowley (when I'm not with you, think of you always) as he drove (I miss you) back (just take me back to yours, that will be fine) to Aziraphale (love you) with a really sincere apology in mind (say the word, your wish is my command). barely a few seconds of normal driving in central London, squeezed in a plot point of "oh shit, extreme sanctions" and their meetup. easy to overlook. unless? it's literally top 5 of Their Queen Love Songs. in any context other than the sheer panic Crowley was experiencing I would take this scene to my grave as peak romanticism, because we know Bentley is an extension of Crowley's mind, and it feels like it tries to comfort him in that moment? (everything's all right, just hold on tight) Recognizing the crushing, overwhelming, all-encompassing love that Crowley is feeling, and boiling it down to simply being suave and charming, casual, like he so often pretends to be (I learned my passion in the good old-fashioned school of loverboys).

it's just the stuff of fanfics, but given to you in the typical Neil Gaiman fashion of subverting expectations, while also allowing for, well, gently playing on your heartstrings. I love it, I love that we got that, bless

lando playing with his hands (always deserves a mention, one of his oldest habits)

oscar standing leaning back on the wall vs lando fully sitting on it legs dangling is so representative of them (i can totally picture lando running ahead and hopping playfully onto the ledge as oscar meanders in and leans against the wall whilst gazing at lando's side profile and laughing under his breath)

that brief moment of thought before lando looks up and says "i think you're worse"

the noise of protest oscar makes and the push off from the wall when he says "debatable"

lando's "i win" glance at oscar as he says "important" and then his gleeful little head movement right after when he KNOWS he's won the argument (siblings behavior)

"who's missed the most important meeting? me. who didn't know about the most important meeting? me." context, boys! what meeting was this???

lando's high-pitched "yeahhhhh" followed by the sound of clapping (he was definitely kicking his legs and clapping with his elbows out like a delighted child) (mclaren give us the full horizontal video of this whole superlatives interview so we can SEE)

"oscaaaaar piastri!" with the presentation hands. look at lando presenting oscar to us. lando please say oscar's full name more it's for science

i'm obsessed with the way oscar brings out lando's playful side. it seems like the more they get to know each other, the more childlike lando acts in joint interviews, with all his kicking of legs and clapping of hands and wriggling around like a fish, putting on goofy voices and letting loose and generally acting silly, and all the while oscar just looks on with a soft indulgent smile and never once judges and i just—SO MANY EMOTIONS YOU DON'T UNDERSTAND

Spider better be allowed to connect with Eywa next movie for the sole reason that I need to see him sit with Neteyam in the spirit world. I need to see him hug his baby brother and tell him he loves him. it's literally causing me physical pain.

yes i'm rooting for m*leven breakup because byler is neat but mostly? i'm rooting for m*leven breakup for the sake of el and mike.

to me, their romance was always a puppy love born out of a combination of social pressures, naïve curiosity, and a lack of true understanding regarding intimacy and romantic love and what it really is. it was real in that they do truly, deeply care about each other and they are close friends, maybe even shared an attraction, but a maturing romance is so much more than that. they've grown up and out of being boyfriend/girlfriend, and that's okay! i think television/film needs to show more often that most of us don't have definite "soulmates" or first childhood loves that we spend our whole lives with. it doesn't mean these relationships meant nothing and didn't impact us, it just means they've run their course and that something else is in the cards, and this is part of life!

i've always felt el was at her best and most confident self when broken up with mike, discovering who she was and what she liked alongside another girl her age instead of just relying on mike for mentorship on how to live in the real world. she deserves more of an opportunity to find herself, her autonomy, and her independence, and to love who she is, and she's made it clear she's felt insecure in the relationship with mike because she isn't being loved and understood the way she wants, needs, and deserves from someone who is her partner.

also, it's okay if mike doesn't love her in "the way he should". he is not obligated to love her romantically and stay in a relationship with her just because she's a girl, because she "needed someone", or because he cares about her a lot. he shouldn't be pressured into a romance if it's not truly coming from his heart. he deserves freedom to find out and honour who he is, too, instead of just staying in his non-functional first relationship — one he got into as a child, essentially — and defining himself that way because it's what's expected when a boy and a girl are close. he loves her in some way, yes, but it's okay if he doesn't feel comfortable or secure being her boyfriend anymore, for whatever reason that is. he's felt insecure too, and that's valid and it matters.

they are their own people and are steadily growing and changing every day. they need time to figure out who those people are, and it's become clear (at least in my opinion) that those people aren't meant to be a couple at this stage.

they deserve freedom. they deserve to grow up and be authentic to themselves and not feel like they need to lie for the sake of a relationship. they deserve to move on from this version of their relationship that isn't making them happy and rekindle the best part of their bond: their strong, beautiful friendship. they don't have to be a couple if it doesn't make them stronger and better and happier people.

i think it would be healthy and wonderful for a show, especially one consumed frequently by young adults, to show a relationship starting, progressing, and ending on good terms in this way. sometimes things don't work out, and that is okay.

something to be said about how kristoph's only known mentee is a loud young man who dresses flashily, is particular about music and so passionate about the truth that he forgets to take people's feelings into account sometimes and follows the thread of logic even when it's disadvantageous to his case or people he cares about/admires. and who also does vocal training. like. just admit you miss your brother and go visit him. freak.

but what interested me most was him saying the Hunted and Cold would be friends. I've never really thought about that pairing before but it does work. The Hunted's main thing being keeping the body alive could help balance out the Cold's general blasé nature when it comes to death, while being rational enough (focussing on his senses and what he knows is real) for the Cold to actually take him seriously. While the Cold being able to push the Hunted to act somewhat like the Stubborn, but slightly less strongly. He's confident that they can get the job done, and with the Hunted keeping them alive they could get a lot done without either really getting sick of the other. Just two reliable guys.

A little off topic but I think they'd work pretty well as a trio with Paranoid too, given a little time for Paranoid to get used to it. Cold's confidence plus Hunted's survival instinct could give him something reliable to work with, and I think he could help him by pointing out when they're going to far in either direction and going to get themselves hurt, as both can be rather single minded (on different things, mind you, but definitelythings that could leave them with blind spots) while Paranoid thinks of every possibility and could probably bring up flaws in any given plan that the others wouldn't notice, and at least Hunted would probably take it into consideration if its going to get them hurt or killed. Like a scared little peer reviewer of any plans the other two would execute

The new live-action ATLA looks amazing, incredible, already such an improvement over the movie. But I really hope they don't neglect the lighthearted atmosphere and comedic elements of the original show. I'm okay with a grittier, slightly darker tone because that's just natural for a live action adaptation, but LET ZUKO BE A DUMBASS and LET TOPH BE PETTY and LET AANG BE FUN-LOVING and LET SOKKA BE THE COMEDIC RELIEF
