#can't believe i missed their departure from fandom life by three years!!

just realized i'm a few years late to the very first fic author i ever loved deleting all of their works off both ff.net and ao3. one of the downsides of fandom is losing track of the authors and not knowing anything about what happened to them.
their stories had been on my mind lately because i used to reread them all the time. they were the first ones i was ever truly obsessed with. started looking for them tonight, which meant going through all my favorited stories on ff.net. discovering they were no longer there was devastating.
people who drive people, especially fic authors who write as a labor of love, out of fandom are the worst kind of fandom people.

You chewed on your lip as your eyes flicked downwards to check the watch on your wrist. The same hand with the watch lifted to brush your hair over your shoulder. It'd been a while since you were this nervous. You prided yourself on leading a fairly calm life. A guarded life, too, but calm. In all honesty, you worked hard to ensure you wouldn't get hurt again. That being the reasoning for your quiet lifestyle with no interruptions. Well, at least before meeting Park Jimin. A sigh pushed past your lips.
A customer walked up to the counter you stood behind. They laid down their clothes over the tabletop. You gave them a forced smile. Your eyes twitched down to check the time once again.
"All ready?"
The rest of your shift dragged on. Time seemed to be going slower than usual, but you blamed yourself. You had no right checking the time every ten seconds as if it was going to magically go faster. You weren't even able to relish in the relief that you felt once the time neared of your departure, because there he was. As early as ever with a pig tailed cutie clutching his plump fingers. Jimin was never a late person when it came to important matters. This time it most definitely was an important matter. He hurried towards you, a whole ten minutes early, with a smile.
"Hey, I'm so sorry we're early." Jimin breathed. He was surprised by the amount of comfort he felt finally being able to see you. You two had spent a whopping two weeks without seeing each other. Jimin had felt deprived of you, a feeling he knew all too well.
"Oh, don't worry about it! I'm sure my coworker won't mind if I slip out a couple minutes early." You responded. Your hands flattened down some shirts you were folding. Moving your gaze down to the little girl staring up at you, you waved at her. "Hello. I'm Yn." She gave you a face splitting grin.
"Hi! I'm Sunhee, but daddy calls me Sun and my best friend calls me Soulmate." Her little voice pulled at your heartstrings. She was most definitely Jimin's daughter. Something stirred in your stomach and you had to turn your head to blink the tears away. You saw your coworker walking by.
"Hey, Elaine?" She turned towards you. "Do you mind if I leave a little early?" Elaine snorted out a laugh.
"Go ahead. I will hold these whole 7 minutes against you next time, though." She teased. You shook your head and chuckled. Jimin hadn't looked away from you, wanting to memorize your face to keep in his head for a rainy day. You smiled at the Parks.
"Well, Sunhee, let's get going! What're we doing today?" You asked. Sunhee squealed, fully ready to let you know of the agenda. She took your hand in hers, making it so that she was squished between you two. Jimin glanced at you. A warm feeling overtook him to see the three of you together. He hoped he would be able to right the wrongs he's done to you. This happiness was something he was willing to fight for. This happiness you gave him.

"I have to ask, did you plan this for Sun or for you?" You giggled at the cheery face Jimin had. His smile dropped a little. He quickly composed himself and stood a little taller.
"What do you mean? Sun loves riding her bike! Look at that face!" He defensively pointed towards his daughter. It held the opposite emotions. Much of her face wasn't visible as her helmet was too big for her, but the tiny pout was poking out. You shook your head. Reaching down, you tugged the scarf Sunhee had on a little tighter to her body.
"Daddy, it's cold." She whined. It's true. The weather had taken a bit of a turn. Jimin wasn't anticipating it to rain. You three stood outside of Jimin's house; Fully ready to go bike riding.
"C'mon, baby, it'll be fun!" He tried to convince you two. You flinched as the rain started up again. You drug your lip in between your teeth.
"I don't know, Jimin. Maybe we should just stay in? Don't want anyone getting sick." You suggested. You hugged yourself tighter. Jimin frowned down at his bike. You breathed out a laugh. "We can go bike riding another day." You rested your hand on Jimin's elbow. His eyes lit up.
"Okay, okay. We can watch a movie inside then." Jimin entwined your fingers together after picking Sunhee up with his other arm. Thank god for the cold weather; Otherwise, the bright red that danced across your cheeks wouldn't have been easily explained. The little girl blinked at your clasped hands.
"Are you my Yumi?" Sunhee asked. Jimin's eyes widened two sizes their usual size. What? You tilted your head in confusion.
"Yumi?"
"Myungie has Yumi. Will you be my Yumi? Not really, you'll still be Yn and I'll still be Sunhee. You know?" Sunhee explained further. The same knot in your stomach tightened. Only this time, you couldn't tell if it was in fear or in love.
"Sun, why don't you go into your room and take off all your coats? We'll wait for you here." Jimin interjected. She ran off the second she was placed on the floor. Jimin quickly turned to you. You were taking your jacket off, very slowly, deep in thought. "Yn, I'm so sorry. She's been hanging out with Myung a lot and– well–"
"Can I ask where Sunhee's mom is?" You wondered out loud. Jimin was ringing his hands in nerves. Not because he didn't want you to know about Mira, but because, well, it's you. It was time, though. It was time to come clean.
"Sunhee's mom passed away." A hand flew to cover your mouth. Jimin paused. "Mira was in a car crash a bit after Sun turned two." Your tear filled eyes searched Jimin's. His were solemn, but there was something else. Jimin would always miss his Mira, but after two long years, he can finally say he has healed. He misses her, he loves her. Mira will always be apart of him, but Jimin has mended himself.
"Jimin, I had no idea."
"It's okay, really. We've worked hard to get here. To get to a place where Sunhee can finally ask for a mom without feeling bad, because she shouldn't. Mira would want her to have a mother figure." Jimin chuckled. He sat down, patting the spot on the couch next to him. "That's why she's asking for a Yumi. I think she sees Myung with her and, well, she wants it, too."
You swallowed thickly. There was no doubt in your mind that you loved Jimin. You truly did. You fell for him faster than you probably should've, but he made it so easy. Jimin was everything and more.
"Is that why you didn't tell me about her? Because I said I didn't want any kids?" You whispered. Jimin nodded with a sigh.
"Either way, it was wrong of me to do that. I understand if you never forgive me. But please don't think I'm using this as an excuse–"
"Jimin." You stopped him. He met your eyes. "I don't know if I can be what you want me to be for Sunhee." You choked out. Jimin quickly stood up. He walked to stand in front of you and held onto your shoulders.
"I'm not asking anything of you. You don't have to do anything you don't want to do." Jimin implored. His deep brown eyes poured into yours. You couldn't hold it in any longer.
"I'm so sorry. Jimin, I can't be her mother. I just– I can't." You cried. Before he could stop you, you rushed out of his house. Jimin wanted to run after you, to stop you, to get an explanation. Before his feet took off after you, Sunhee's shrill call stopped him dead in his tracks. Jimin cursed. He stood in his spot for a moment longer, basking in his mixed emotions. And just like that, he was deprived of the one he loved all over again.
