Fun Question Time – Just How Rich Is Cale??
This might be a funny question for the Korean readers, but as someone who doesn't use the Korean Won currency on regular basis, those huge numbers with tons of zeros seem pretty abstract. How much money does Cale have???
(I'm sure many people use different currencies, but I decided that US Dollar is the best ones to compare to, internationally. However, keep in mind that the currency constantly changes and fluctuates, so if you check the numbers later on, they might end up out of date.)
Believe it or not, right at the beginning of the novel, we get a clear understanding of how currency works in this world works! We are informed early on that the Roan Kingdom's currency translates to Korean currency roughly 1:1.
Thus:
1 Roan Gallon = 1 bronze coin = 1 Korean Won
Also, this is how the division of coins work:
1 gold coin = 10 silver coin = 100 000 bronze coins
In short:
1 gold coin = 100 000 gallons = ~ 80 US Dollars
When Cale asks Deruth for money, he receives 10 million gallon for an allowance. In other words, that is:
100 gold coins = 1 000 silver coin ->
10 000 000 bronze coins = 10 000 000 Gallons ->
10 000 000 Korean Won = 8 000 US Dollars
...Yeah, you read that right. Cale got freaking 8 thousand dollars as an allowance.
That's more than average American's monthly salary, btw. The Henituse being rich is a freaking understatement.
While in most cases, we don't know how much money Cale gets (from the Magic Tower for example – which he payed 4 million USD for; we got no clue about his profit, but it must have been tens of millions of dollars at least...), we do get the numbers concerning the Caro Kingdom auction!
...Also, it was mentioned that Caro Kingdom currency is slightly more than the Raon Kingdom's:
1 Caro Kingdom Gallon > 1 Raon Kingdom Gallon
With those numbers, how much money did Cale earn in the auction???
1 000 000 000 Caro Gallons > 800 000 USD
23 000 000 000 Caro Gallons > 18 400 000 USD
30 000 000 000 Caro Gallons > 24 000 000 USD
Thus:
53 billion Caro Gallons > 42.4 million dollars
...And that's for a single auction 😅
I think... it's safe to say that Cale Henituse is a billionaire 😂

OG Choi Han they could never make me hate you cause if some random rich boy was yelling at me and telling me my family deserved to die like a day after it happened and all I wanted was to know how I could get help I’d beat him up too
This plus the added fact that the Harris Village people were the first people to take Choi Han in and take care of him after years and years in the dark forest. Like he’s obviously not going to be mentally stable after all that, and he was so young when everything happened to him like I cannot blame him at all. I don’t think I can ever hate OG Choi Han like ever, he’s flawed, he has problems, but I love him dearly. He deserves the world. This kid who had to fight for his life, was taken away from his family, and in the process had to give up parts of his own humanity to survive, and like went to war two years later, they could never make me hate u OG Choi Han…
Like yeah violence is bad I guess but OG Cale had it coming(saying this as an OG Cale fan, I love him, but he was mean as hell when he was younger!)
If I’m honest, I think they were both in the wrong to an extent. Like OG Cale shouldn’t have said all that no matter the circumstances, and OG Choi Han shouldn’t have beaten him up so much. But u say mean shit and you get hit, that is how it will work when you’re talking to the guy who just saw his entire village get murdered like idkkkk man
I understand where OG Cale was coming from, but he had many issues and while he wasn’t an awful person, he was capable of doing bad things because of his own internalized pain and emotions that he never got to properly process because of his emotionally distant childhood and relationship with his father who should have been there for him more when he was younger.
Okay speaking of his childhood, Deruth isn’t the WORST father in the world but there are a lot of things he could have done better. I think a lot of Deruth’s flaws come from his fear of failure and messing up. He’s scared of doing the wrong thing, and so he sticks to doing what he knows and using what he knows best. That’s why he uses his money, that’s why gift giving is his way of showing affection, he knows that it is one thing he cannot mess up.
The problem is that money and gifts is NOT what OG Cale needed. I think what that guy needed the most was a parent who wasn’t afraid to talk to him, to ask him questions. Not to say that Deruth gave up on OG Cale, but I think in a way he gave up on OG Cale by giving up on himself. Deruth didn’t trust himself to have the capabilities to talk to OG Cale, which is why he never did. It’s because that Deruth was scared, and didn’t trust himself, that he could never face OG Cale
If Deruth was able to trust himself a little more, and pull himself together, I don’t think OG Cale would have turned out the way he did. As a kid, he probably thought the only way he could help his family without relying on anyone(no doubt this whole ‘I have to do it myself’ thing came from the fact that he couldn’t rely on his father when his mom died, and instead was acting as a pillar of support for his father when it should have been the other way around) was to sabotage himself, the only heir. If he was shown to be unfit to be heir, then everyone else would have no choice but to direct their hatred towards him instead of his family.
If Deruth had talked to his son at least ONCE when he was a kid, asking him why he was upset or why he did the things he did, I think OG Cale would have told him. Why? Because he’s a kid!! A kid will obviously want to rely on his father, if he just had one sign telling him that he didn’t have to do it alone I’m 90% sure OG Cale would have said something.
Basically, while Deruth isn’t the worst father, he’s not really a great father either. I think he does do his best, but he has issues with communication lol
OG Cale and OG Choi Han are both complex characters and had their own reasons to behave the way they did. The thing is with people is that they’re complicated and have layers, so the situation with them would have layers behind it as well with multiple co-existing truths and stuff

Would love it if somewhere in the future centuries from now Roan Kingdom/Empire someone makes a show or movie out of Cale's life and the war with the White Star.
Of course Cale is there, having somehow achieved immortality or smth a la being the gods beloved/babygirl to scream in horror at the movie/show's success.
any time Cale is onscreen there's practically sparkles and hearts and a mysterious wind blowing his hair majestically and he hates it soooo much. (Meanwhile the rest of the squad are giving the director notes because they think the director isn't portraying his beauty accurately enough)

Cale’s allowance is...... not that much??
I’m doing research for my fic and it turns out that while Cale himself is filthy rich, his allowance is not that much??? At least, not that much compared to the typical rich kid’s allowance I have in my mind?????
Like, aside from the 10 million gallons he recieved from the first day, his normal allowance is 3 million gallons, right? That is 3 million korean won.
Which is about 2000 usd. Or, because I’m more familiar with Japanese currency, 300,000 yen.
Which is......? Not as much as I thought??? Bc I literally have to spend more than 100,000 yen already just to survive in Japan (rent, food, bills, etc.)
Of course, since this is just his allowance, rent and food and bills don’t have to factor in. But. It somewhat lessens my awe towards the Henituse’s wealth, you know?
Don’t get me wrong, it’s still a lot, but it’s not A Lot (TM) you know?
On the other hand, this just means Cale acquires the majority of his wealth through his own effort and I Respect that so much.
Man is literally a man-made billionare, like, damnnnn

man im so insane abt cale drvggin frankie to put that chip in like. what else did he do with franks unconscious body 👀
Oh there's so much he could do to Frankie, so much he wants to do. Like, okay, in my canon Cale is actually pretty nice to Frankie, but my brain has been very occupied with thoughts of Cale hurting Frankie lately <3 I'm thinking about a scenario where Frankie absolutely does not even consider kissing Cale or having sex with him, he's like 25 years older than him, he's scary, Frank likes hanging out with him yeah, but mostly Cale is intimidating. And so they hang out, they kill, Frankie cooks human meat, but all the while Cale is damn near salivating over the boy. It takes a long while to gain Frankie's trust, but when he does it's time for him to take what he wants. Frankie is no longer hesitant about eating food from Cale's place, so Cale drugs Frankie's wine. Frankie is a lightweight, of course, but he starts feeling drowsy very very quick, and Cale helps him lie down on the big bed or the couch, somewhere soft, and it doesn't take long at all for Frankie to pass out. Cale doesn't know how Frankie is going to react when he wakes up sore and abused but he doesn't care much, he can easily overpower Frankie, and he's waited so long for this. Frankie is still all puppyfat and boyish lines, and Cale can't get enough of it. He touches Frankie's soft skin, plays with his mouth, makes his boy cum before he even shoves himself inside. Cale's no stranger to hookups but this is so much better, maybe it's even better because Frankie isn't aware, because if he plays this right he can do this over and over again, and Frankie wouldn't have a clue what exactly has been happening to him.

a brief list of my favorite people i saw at the local bigfoot convention:
-a bunch of surly older men who were apparently VIPs on the Alaska Bigfoot Cruise and therefore demanded their own seating section
-a 60something year old woman in a sparkly shirt with a thick north carolina accent who described bigfoot as a man with fabio hair and sounded very much like she wanted to fuck him
-a shy little girl who was very brave telling the whole room how she’d seen a huge bigfoot footprint in the snow
-two older women gossiping in the back, one of whom said very emphatically “well you know the government, they wouldn’t even call a snow bunting a snow bunting if it meant more money for washington!”
-my friend ryan (hi ryan!)
-a man with a bigfoot tattoo on his forearm who said the idea had come to him in a dream in the woods and he thinks the dream was planted by bigfoot
-a teenage girl in a t-shirt that had chibi nate mac and cale makar hugging and a wristband that said ‘i want to believe’.
-david paulides and jeffrey meldrum sitting on opposite sides of the panel with their arms folded, insisting through gritted teeth that they really liked and respected one another
-a man from utah whose two biggest problems with mitt romney were that he was rich and out of touch and that he would never disclose any of the bigfoot documentation that “you just KNOW he has”
-the local trapper sitting next to me who kept nodding and muttering stuff like “oh yeah, squatches’ll do that” whenever anyone told a story about an encounter
