Starting on quite the ambitious project of drawing as many wizardess heart characters as I can. I know the color wheel trend has died down but this is bound to drag on anyway.
Pink includes: Liz, Carbuncle, Mischa, Caesar, Elder Wing Rabbit, Chica, Piggy Caesar, Vain, Taffy and Randy.
Just a heads up, some characters may be "misplaced" because I personally associate them with a color different than their theme color.

Note
do u think Caesar is cute from wizardess heart?
That’s a pretty big yes
But not as cute as Guy or Randy like cuteness ranking 3 for Caesar.

broke: crowley tempted the senate to stab caesar
woke: crowley tempted the senate to stab caesar because aziraphale was upset about the library of alexandria
bespoke: aziraphale was in rome as part of the arrangement. he's the one who tempted the senate to stab caesar (and ten billion burned books cried out for vengeance) 😇📚😌🔪

*yes i know this was pre-arrangement but for the sake of unhinged delight no it wasn't

One Piece SBS & Cover Stories
Oh, I didn't know how much I missed watching the anime only until I reached the Wano arc. There is so much more that adds to the worldbuilding and understanding of the reader through the manga that otherwise gets lost.
The mountain of knowledge and trivia through SBS (Question Corner) is amazing, next to silly author-reader interactions. And the cover stories were mostly not animated. When I first found them just recently, they made me so happy. Most of them are adorable, and give an insight behind the scenes, answering some questions as to what happened to defeated enemies, like Enel, CP9 and Caesar Clown. And they're considered canon!
Loooved the one on Baroque Works. Always wondered what happened to all the members, and the little storyline was so cute. Also, that Crocodile had a chance to escape and just "didn't feel like it"?! Hah, that tidbit is so interesting. And Mr.1 loyally staying with him lol
Definitely recommend checking them out, if anyone hasn't already :)

Caesar Route Chapter 5 (11-15)
Last time on the Caesar Route, Liz and Caesar are saved from Kars by Deus Ex Hiro and then portal back to the magic train station, and all I want to say about the last segment of the story is yes, Solmare writers, I too frequent the gay section of AO3.
Also, how strangely poignant that we’re going over a part of Caesar’s route during March..
Tumblr media
Oh it just keeps getting gayer.
So Liz and Caesar have a mini argument over who worried who and all that sacrifice stuff from two weeks ago, then Mischa buts in with that classic otome “of course you two are a couple,” to which Caesar replies with THIS
Tumblr media
I don’t even want to begin to unpack that response.
Liz and Caesar ask Hiro and Mischa why they followed them, even though the answer is literally very obvious. But the answer they give that Mischa apparently told Hiro they needed to follow them and Mischa implies she just wanted to see how things would turn out. Caesar thinks there’s something off about Mischa and Liz thinks she’s mysterious.
Tumblr media
Lucious shows up for some reason and asks what they’re doing in the labyrinth. Mischa takes offense to him calling her a cat so Lucious does this.
Tumblr media
My longest deep sigh ever.
Tumblr media
yeah it’s not getting better.
Tumblr media
So Liz brings up that she wants to ask Lucious’s help for something, but Lucious is a bitch baby about it. But she asks him about the Star Sapphire and shows him the coin, Lucious gives it back and implies it’s going to curse them.
Tumblr media
Have you noticed that’s kind of this game’s jam, Lucious?
Tumblr media
Lucious gives us this extreme reaction, at which point I remember oh yeah Caesar’s family cursed this guy. Lucious swears that he won’t help them and ruins the serious tone by sticking his tongue out and running off. Liz and Hiro are confused but before Caesar can dodge all their question, the ever nuisance that is Zeus yoinks everyone to the good ol detention cellblock. Zeus and Hiro argue over whether or not Hiro has dimension sickness, then the chapter ends with Zeus revealing he caught Zett.
Scheduled for: March 2

One of my favorite things about Mary Beard's Twelve Caesars: Images of Power is how she explores the surrounding context of artworks. It's not just "What is depicted, and how?" It's also:
Who made this (or had it made)? For what purpose? Pride, propaganda, humor, teaching, a warning?
Who are the intended audience - the owner alone? Their family? Rival snobby aristocrats? Churchgoers, students, the general public?
What else was going on in the world, and how does it affect the history of this artwork? (Imperialism, trade, and the rise and fall of dynasties often shift art across countries - given, bought or stolen!)
What references in this art would the audience have noticed? A lot of artworks call back to earlier ones, and this may be as subtle as the subject's posture or facial hair.
It makes me think about the art I see history lovers create today, too. And about historical fiction. I think it's easy to analyze media in terms of whether X subject it includes is good or bad, safe or problematic, and therefore whether the work as a whole is good or bad. It's easy, but wrong.
Art doesn't exist in a vacuum. Its meaning and effect depend on the creator, surrounding circumstances, and audience. Take Antonio Verrio's colossal painting of the Roman emperors at Hampton Court Palace:
Tumblr media
I think most folks today would see it as a technically impressive baroque painting, but nothing special. Or just your typical monarchist art, in the same vein as Delacroix's Justice of Trajan. Why else would a British palace give center stage to a bunch of emperors, right?
But it's very likely that this painting was made as a joke. It's glorified fanart of emperor Julian's satire The Caesars, in which Julian makes nearly every one of his predecessors look ridiculous. If you look closely, you can spot scenes Julian wrote like Octavian being hassled by a philosopher and Nero playing a lyre (or guitar). I can imagine some nerdy aristocrat pointing out the gags to his buddies and roasting these guys.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
However. The joke is not the only meaning of the painting. Meaning is given by the viewers, and modern monarchists may show it to each other and say, "This is real art, none of that woke nonsense." (Oblivious to Hadrian running after his boyfriend in the scene.) Anti-monarchists may hold it up as an example of autocracy being celebrated. Each group is reacting to the other, and using the painting to support their own messages.
I'm more of a writer than artist, but I'm also thinking about how I might apply this to my own works. Particularly, how not to overthink things. Because I want to be thoughtful about the messages I put in my stories, but readers are creative, and bring their own ideas to the text, too. There's no way to prevent that, nor should you really try. If you try to make the meaning too obvious, you'll likely make the work weaker, preachy, or condescending.
In the end, I suppose, all you can do is to do your best, create for the folks you want to reach instead of trying to appeal to everyone, and trust that the right people will understand.

Alrighty so I’m finally getting around to writing some modern au One Piece fic so I figured I should probably share some background for it!
Everything is set in one giant city and I have put way too much thought into this
City is roughly split up between the “four emperors”
The Grand Line(NE-SW) is the main commercial street that runs through the center of the city where every large group has a front. It intersects Red Street(NW-SE) which divides the territories. The Hospital sits at the East corner of where the Grand line and red street intersect.
Big mom’s pastries
The Red Force bar - cocktail bar
Kids repair shop
The Amazon Lily - Boa Hancock’s strip club
Rayleigh is a legal consultant and the only piece of neutral territory on the grand line
Marinefold- the Town hall sits dead center of Red street
Lodge square - located in the center in front of city hall
Pacifista church - run by Kuma, large mega church
Etc.
The Heart territory is a couple blocks in the East side that spans from Law’s apartment to the employee entrance of the hospital
All of the Hearts work either at the hospital or the Heart Club
Hearts are highly territorial despite being in Red Hairs area
The Hearts have tattoos but no markings on their medical uniforms
The large hospital where Law works is neutral territory and pretty much every doctor/surgeon there is affiliated with a group
The white coats of the doctors each have the symbol of their affiliated group embroidered with white thread. Each major group has at least one doctor that is deemed safe to go to
Kaido is a Yakuza group and Kin'emon’s group is the remnants of the Kozuki clan that are trying to retake the territory
East side is Red Hair
Locations-
Baratie- restaurant Sanji works at and common meeting place of the Straw Hats
Water 7- Large mechanic shop, Franky uses one of the workshops there for personal projects and to repair their Van(The Sunny)
The Heart Club- A below ground nightclub owned by Law
Patty’s bar- Run by Makino and frequented by Shanks
Mihawk’s Dojo- Zoro frequently trains there
Elegia recordings - Run by Shanks and started to Publish his daughter’s music
Uta started as a streamer then starting doing live performances once her popularity grew, she is often out of the city on tour
She is a very active protester and has been arrested multiple times
Soul KIng - Music supply shop owned by brook
Brook who was a famous musician who faked his death and moved into town to avoid the publicity (still very recognizable)
The straw hats live friends style with 3 apartments on the same floor. They are the local menaces and are constant up in everyone’s business
North Side is Kaido
Locations
Onigashima- Formally called the Kozuki theater was taken over by Kaido and turned into a club. Run by Orochi but paid for by Kaido. The daughter of Oden works undercover as a dancer.
Oden restaurant - Named after the late boss of the Kozuki family is run by his friends and son, current front to the Kozuki Yakuza group
DonQuixote Inc. headquarters- Center of Doffy’s operations and front for the family
Dressrosa Casino - run by Doflamingo. Hosts fights at its arena. Formerly run by the Riku family, Viola Riku currently sits on the board.
Punk Labs- Caesar’s lab, Donquixote is their parent company. Was formally run by Vegapunk.
Cipher pol - Government intelligence. Has agents stationed in every region

Wanted to talk about Luffy’s main arc baddies.
-Morgan/Helmeppo: Good starter villains, vanity for the sake of it, and just a wacky (initially) unlikable guy. Both embody very much the opposite of what Luffy and Zoro stand for.
-Buggy: Would truly shine later, makes him kind of sucking for his intro that much funnier, considering where he is currently at in the story. A god of charisma and luck.
-Kuro: Great foil to Usopp, though a bit bland.
-Krieg: Overconfident jerk in the best way.
-Arlong: Fantastic baddie to conclude the East Blue part of the story, Arlong Pirates being the last major enemy the crew faces and defeats before starting the next leg of their journey and enter the Grand Line. Reads to me as someone who is stagnant in life or is unable to truly move forward. Luffy is still more than prepared to face him, though Arlong's true strength as a character is that he is more than we see at first glance. What we learned of his past during Fishman Island added a lot of depth to his actions and connected Nami's and Jinbei's stories in a very natural way.
-Wapol: Acts as a minor foil to Vivi's arc/style of leadership more than anything. Hateable though good for what he represents. Survived decapitation so gets a bonus point for being the only One Piece character to have managed that. Baby 5 and Buffalo don't count, not fully any way.
-Crocodile: Great all around, so smooth, so cool. Love Croc, love Baroque Works.
-Bellamy: Punchable but also great and had one of the more unique villain motivations in the series.
-Enel: Wacky and fun, though not a character I felt very invested in. I secretly hope he never shows up again and when asked, Oda pretends he doesn't remember the character. That would be hilarious and the best outcome for Enel to me.
-Lucci: Moody asshole with the personality of a wet paper bag, an underwhelming fighting style for a spy, and is not especially well incorporated into the story of Water 7 in my opinion. The city of Water 7 is 99.9 the same after as it was before. His beard post-timeskip is offensive level bad. Die sir.
-Moria: At the time, he was the Warlord with the best writing behind him. A look at how Luffy could end up if he didn't have a "Jinbei" to refocus him after facing annihilation. Has one of my favorite devil fruits in the series. I want a flashback about his and Perona’s first meeting.
-Hody: Good antagonist to ring in the timeskip and the arc which would have Jinbei meeting the rest of the crew. Similar to Arlong though with little in the way of a long term goal in life beyond spreading hatred. Works well with the message of the arc.
-Caesar: ew die.
-Doffy: In my opinion, him and his crew didn't really work as the main baddies of an arc, Monet and Vergo felt more threatening + compelling. Fine overall, though I find Doffy more interesting at Jaya and Marineford. Nice laugh tho.
-Katakuri: Another great foil to Luffy and turns into a donut death wheel. Is more someone Luffy can aspire to surpass than he is a reflection of Luffy's worst case scenario, as Moria was for Luffy.
-Kaido: Fascinating philosophy of wanting to be remembered though for the wrong thing. Unlike Whitebeard, Roger, Yasu, etc. Kaido only cared about his death itself being remembered, and didn't put in any effort into fostering a successor or a legacy. Said friendship was a sham though invited his own downfall with the way he ran his crew, a structure which invited backstabbing at every turn. Also a bit of a coward, resorting to lying to Oden in the past, because he knew he couldn’t defeat him. A relic of the bygone era of Rocks who will likely be forgotten by the world at large.
Kaido’s defeat was a great spectacle, the battle had him facing, nine samurai, Luffy with new haki and a new gear, four more pirates, and a dog and a dragon, and was built on Luffy’s connections he has spent time and effort forging since Punk Hazard, what he learned from Hyogoro, sent Kaido into a magma chamber which lead to an eruption that signaled both his send off and the beginning of a new era, and was seen by all of Wano, so cool. I see many folks saying they wanted more though fail to offer a what or how they would have things believably go differently. Kaido trying to rely purely on might ultimately failing him is a good defeat, as is Big Mom allowing herself to lose focus due to Law silencing her, then rashly attacking the explosive in an attempt to make herself be heard.
Many of the points I see brought up against Wano's ending remind me of vague concerns I remember seeing about if Oda has abandoned Big Mom's story, near the start of Wano. Arcs in One Piece don't really "end" when Luffy beats the baddie and sails to the next destination, especially at this point in the story, with so many characters being interconnected and woven throughout.

Can you write a fanfic of Alfonse taking care of Caesar?
One GoldenBacon fic coming right up (I’m kinda hungy so be patient with me😉)
“Golden boyfriend to the rescue!”
“ACHOO” came out of Ceasar, it may be a common cold but the piggy prince wanted some royal treatment from his Golden haired mans, “Good morning my Sizzling piece of bacon, I brought you some soup to help with your cold.” Alfonse chimed as he entered the room, Caesar smiled warmly as he looked at the soup “no spice?” He looked inquisitively “no spice!” Al beamed as he bent down to give his little pork chop a kiss on the cheek. “Oh my you feel warm,” Alfonse pulled away and turned around to grab something to cool off the hot menudo (pork belly), Caesar began to squeal “no come back I want anotherrrr kissyyy” Caesar puckered up as Alfonse grabbed a damp cold towel, “be patient you Canadian bacon youu.” The blonde playfully exclaimed as he set the towel on the ham haired boys forehead, then Caesar gently grabs Alfonse’s chin and the two share a deep passionate kiss. “You’re gonna get me sick too” Alfonse pulled away blushing a vibrant pink, “yeah but i can’t make it through this cold if I don’t get your kisses!” The pigboy blushing and trying to get more kisses. “Oh how can I say no to that face~”
I’m gonna go ahead and cut it there thank you for the ask!💕💕❤️❤️❤️

Shakespeare Weekend!
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
This weekend we come back to Nicholas Rowe’s (1674-1718) The Work of Mr. William Shakespear; in Six Volumes. Published in London in 1709 by Jacob Tonson (1655–1736), this second edition holds an important place within Shakespearean publication history. The Work of Mr. William Shakespear; in Six Volumes is recognized as the first octavo edition, the first illustrated edition, the first critically edited edition, and the first to present a biography of the poet.
Volume five contains Shakespeare’s renowned tragedies beginning with everyone’s favorite young Italian lovers, Romeo and Juliet. Following Romeo and Juliet is Timon of Athens, Julius Caesar, Macbeth, Hamlet Prince of Denmark, King Lear, and Othello. A full-page engraving by the French artist and book illustrator François Boitard (1670-1715) precedes each play. The illustrations were engraved by prolific English engraver Elisha Kirkall (c.1682–1742) who had previously worked with Rowe on his translation of Lucan's Pharsalia. Boitard’s illustrations often place readers at the pinnacle of the plays depicting high drama in his classic Baroque style.
In addition to Rowe’s editorial decisions to divide the plays into scenes and include notes on the entrances and exits of the players, he also normalised the spelling of names and included a dramatis personae preceding each play. The only chronicled critique of Rowe’s momentous editorial endeavor is his choice in basing his text on the corrupt Fourth Folio.

huh, now that i think about it, one piece villains tend to get away with it scott free. like their plans get frustrated sure but they end up otherwise still free and trucking.
buggy and his crew escaped and he is a sea emperor
kuro escaped, we never saw him again, django joined the navy
all of baroque works, including mr crocodile is free and thriving
foxy is still sailing around
enel achieved his goal and is on the moon, seems his leutentant also escaped
all cypher pol 9 escaped and formed cypher pol 0, spandam survived and is presumably still in a position in the navy
gecko moria is still a pirate doing his own thing
magellan and his crew seem to still be in charge of impel down
most of the navy admirals are still in the navy or went their own way
black beard is a sea emperor, his crew is growing more powerful
caesar clown allied with germa 66
all germa 66 is still thriving
when you think about it the only villains who seemed to be put away for good are don krieg, arlong, moria's leutenants, hody, doflamingo and MAYBE big mom and kaido, although some speculate those actually survived.

BEST GIRL CREWMATE - BRACKET A
Round 1
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Propaganda under the cut
Buckingham Stussy's propaganda contains manga spoilers
Miss Monday (Baroque Works)
— If we're counting Baroque Works we simply must include Miss Monday. Love a buff lady who protects her Friends
Buckingham Stussy (Rocks Pirates)
— Was on the Rocks Pirates with all the big name pirates of the day, then joined MADS the illegal science team with Vegapunk, Caesar, Judge, and Queen. Manga spoilers but was successfully cloned as is (maybe?) raising Whitebeard's clone.
