#c19 covid
Text
So whats more dangerous then C19 & what did we as a global society as well as a supposed peoples from, people lead governments learn do & react from it? Yeah, not musch of Jack S.
Stupid & governments have a tendency to repeat itself if not in the exact form but slightly different method not to get caught. So with the clearly {I will not say alleged)  careless if not what many as myself call negligent & dubious behavior which likely lead to multiple COVID outbreaks, time will likely show the truth well beyond our lifetimes, how are our governmental and private institutions handling & hopeful containing research which must be logically be proceeding on much more potentially deadlier  contagions such as Nipah Virus for example? Clearly not with known physical infrastructure. Argue as much as you like. The next global epidemic, if we see it or not, the ones being born today will. We owe it to the next generations of humanity to prepare, safely for them with reasonable transparency, but are we? what did we learn from COVID, really. I ask this question of you to ask it of others. ~ @site_alpha

idk who needs to hear this but not wearing a mask (even tho you safely can) isnt a neutral position. you're an anti-masker.

I've been feeling like absolute dogshit since yesterday and thanks to home tests, it looks like I caught Covid. Yay me.
Still need to get an official test done for work but man....I freaking hate this.

I made this post and of course people are arguing on it. So if you don't know what to do about COVID, so here are some actions you can take:
1. Wear a mask. KN95 or similar is best, but any mask is better than no mask.
2. Get vaccinated and boosted. If you can, get the new booster that targets newer variants as well.
3. Be aware of COVID stats - at least your weekly local ones - and educate yourself the harm COVID is doing. Learn about how the government and media are spreading misinformation - and why.
4. Don't attend crowded events if you can avoid it. Talk to coordinators and attendees about making events safer. Encourage virtual events. Help make life accessible.
5. Listen to disabled people's thoughts and feelings about the pandemic. Let us know you see us and affirm us. Don't ignore us. Don't invalidate us.
7. Encourage others to do all of the above. Tell them what you learn and what they're doing wrong. Do not shut up for anyone.
A lot of why this is happening is because people refuse to listen. They won't look our situation in the eyes. And it being depressing is not an excuse to do that. Ignoring it and not taking precautions only makes things worse - even more dire, even more deadly. It's not helping.
Learn how to engage with this as healthily as you can. It will always hurt because this is a mass trauma event. You will not better yours or anyone else's trauma by pretending it doesn't exist. Help us all heal and prevent more people from suffering needlessly. We all owe each other this.

Also something that I've been thinking about in regards to masking is like...no matter your preference masks cost money and there are people who can mask and choose not to. But like there are people who can't mask consistently like, can homeless people mask all the time? And like what if they want to like go get something to eat or go indoors somewhere when it's really cold or raining? Or what about people in prison/jail? Like are masks available and knowing how prison works they're not free, nor is testing readily available. Like these are 2 groups of ppl who probably have a hard time getting access to good Healthcare for one reason or another they're actually more at risk

i know we're all "used to it" at this point but can i just say it's an absolute mind fuck going to places like trans support groups, physical therapy, etc. and being one of the only (if not the only) person wearing a mask. it's so incredibly jarring whenever i notice i am safe absolutely no where, even in places where i'm supposed to be. like this is so incredibly fucked up but almost everyone is just accepting and/or ignoring that. as if this is how it's supposed to be and there's nothing anyone can do.

Really need people to stop testing positive for COVID after I've been in the office with them.
Also really need my friends to stop saying they're "ignoring COVID".
REALLY NEED PEOPLE TO UNDERSTAND THAT SOME PEOPLE CAN'T AFFORD TO CATCH COVID AND THEY ARE MAKING IT HARDER TO AVOID.

Mask Week of Action 2023 - Recap
ICYMI we called on healthcare workers to mask up and protect patients last week. Here are some highlights from my own "Mask Week of Action" posts promoting the push to keep masks in healthcare (and bring them back in places that dropped them long ago).

no, i do not believe this level of delusion about the pandemic being “over” is sustainable. i have noticed people behaving in ways they never would have before c19, like they know deep down that things are not OK and they’re scared. international travel, huge parties, etc. i don’t know. i guess i’ve been surprised and disappointed by mass human cruelty and indifference before but i really do believe there will be a tipping point. once activists can catch their fucking breath? maybe? it took 10 years of AIDS before ACT UP took to the streets. i don’t want to wait 10 years. i’ll push as hard as i fucking can but unfortunately i’m close to bed-bound by long covid at the moment. i do not want to die. c19 activism feels like a tipping point for climate change action, anticapitalist action, and abolition action. this can be a radicalizing moment. they made the US slightly more accessible for a MINUTE and then yanked it away but we *saw* it. we saw it!!!!!!!!!! efforts to squash c19 precautions go hand-in-hand with squashing anti-police protests: they know that the summer 2020 uprisings were able to happen because enough people, for a brief moment, were freer than they had ever been in this fucking evil country. when people are given resources, they give a shit. cops were the only maskless faces in the streets of minneapolis and that is not a coincidence. the old world is fucking scared and wants you to get sick and die. c19 deaths keep climbing, your yard is burning or flooding or bogged down by smoke, cops have killed more people each year since 2020. that’s the “normal” everybody is trying to convince you it’s sooooo fun to go back to. fuck off. fuck off. there will be a crack and we will kick it open
