black and white 3: gear station
If Gamefreak makes the inevitable Black and White remake another sequel (like honestly all the others should have been) than I think the best way to address the Ingo situation would be for the Player to have almost no involvement at all.
Have it be a background thing when the Player first makes it to Nimbasa City the Battle Subway is temporarily closed due to… circumstances with the Bosses’ pokemon.
Elesa’s not at her Gym because she’s helping Emmet grab all of Ingo’s pokemon, as they are scattered around the city looking for their Trainer. Have some of the residents trying to guid them back, making comments that this has been the regular occurrence for almost a year now.
Have it where the Player finds a Chandelure approach them, when they enter the city, and end up following them around as they make it to the battle Subway. Then you have to help gather the rest before Elesa can return to her gym and Emmet, Gear Station. This is how you get a Unlimited Subway Pass (as a token of thanks from Emmet) that grants you full access to Gear Station (to the places you already have been like the ride pokemon/flying taxi)
The Battle Subway is then reopened, but you can only do the Singles Monday/Wednesday/Friday and the Doubles Tuesday/Thursday/Saturday or whatever since there is only 1 Subway boss to run the both lines at the moment.
Postgame, the Singles and Doubles lines are available no matter the day of the week, as Ingo has inexplicably returned, with a whole new set of pokemon to boot.
Lady Sneasler can be found as a Challenger on the singles line or meandering Gear Station, depending on the time of day. If you beat her and Ingo X amount of it would trigger a cut scene where she, with some translation on Ingo’s part, gifts the player an Egg, with Ingo making a comment that the Player reminds him of a bit of a trainer he new from where he was before.

Imagine just hanging with your Volcarona!Train twins in the lovely Paldea. One of them is thinking of asking you out, maybe they both are, but then paradox shenanigans happen and you know have to deal with Slither Wing!Twins AND Iron Moth!Twins after the 3 of you! Or at least you think it's the 3 of you, it's actually just you and but the Volcarona!Twins don't want to drop that ball just yet.
The Old and The New
cw: poly implied (ingo/reader, emmet/reader), slightest bit horror, pokemon hybrid fighting, fluff, volcarona hybrids ingo and emmet
pairings: Ingo/Reader, Emmet/Reader
~
When the Subway Bosses invited you along for their vacation to Paldea, you thought it was a bit of a strange choice.
You would not disagree that both of them needed a break from their busy jobs and likely the judgement they got as Volcarona hybrids in general from living in Unova, but it was strange in their choice to invite you along. Your friendship was assumed to be the reason, yet you found it strange they had not invited Elesa, too. She laughed about it when you told her, saying they likely figured she was busy, but you wondered why they had not even asked. Still, you agreed. Paldea sounded like such a mystical place to visit. What, with it giant crater of mystery down in the middle of its very land.
The arrival had been by plane to Levincia, where they had booked a hotel for your stay. They stood behind you in awe at the city's similar feeling to that of Castelia back home. Emmet almost subconsciously flew up towards some of the lights that illuminated the night skyline, but Ingo quickly grasped his shoulder to hold him down. An annoyed huff came from Emmet, who settled back down to the ground. Your hotel situation consisted of two connected rooms, where they would share one with two beds, while you stayed in the single-bed room. All of you promptly laid down for a while after settling into your rooms, exhausted from a near ten-hour flight.
But, by the evening, the urge to explore your new surroundings had come to you all. Ingo and Emmet managed to walk with you around the dazzling city. You watched the port busy with ships from the side of the circular platform in the middle of the location with amazement. Emmet tilted his head at your reaction. Ingo sighed and shook his own, “I feel like I'm watching train routes from above.” You wondered about that as you watched a small crowd run past you, three after some strangely dressed girl.
“Shouldn't you be forgetting work for now, Ingo,” you teased him, lightly patting his shoulder, “The trains are gone from you for now.” Ingo shook his head again.
“To separate me from trains is simply impossible,” he replied, “It would be like uncoupling me from Emmet. He would simply hunt me down and demand I never do that again.”
Emmet pouted at his brother, “I do that one time when I was twelve. Then you bring it up foreverrrr.” You laughed at the thought. They must have still been Larvestas then. The thought of him crawling around after his brother at top Larvesta speed was something.
After you returned back to your hotel rooms after getting dinner, you all passed in preparation for the rest of your trip.
The next days were spent in a bit of a haze as you went from city to city across Paldea with the twins. Most were interesting in their own ways, with many sights to see. The art around Artazon left you struck and curious about Burgh's opinion on everything, while Casacarrafa made you feel a bit sad about the cuisine of Unova. The twins seemed to enjoy each local and fit in battles for themselves some way. It seemed like every time you turned your back, they had found some challenger to entertain them.
Your trip through the Asado Desert left them at ease as they wandered around in an environment more natural for them. Even back in Unova, Volcarona and Volcarona hybrids themselves tended to prefer the Desert Resort to the rest of the region. Nimbasa's closeness to the area is what led to the twins to even be there in the first place, you felt. Porto Marinada had been worth it, if only to feel an ocean breeze on your skin after a trek through such an arid locale. Ingo even took you for a short fly over the ocean to see a better view of it, too. You laughed as he gripped you tightly in his arms. The trip had been much fun for all three of you.
Everything had gone almost perfectly until you reached the seemingly plain city of Medali. The place had little going for it outside of its supposedly famous restaurant, so you decided to explore just out of the town for a moment while the brothers had lunch together. Allowing them some alone time to have some twin bonding did not seem like a bad idea. The path outside the city headed toward a cavern that you had no interest of going into alone, so you instead wandered up a cliff to where the crater was shielded from prying eyes. Tall walls of jagged rock stood above to protect the secrets inside. You felt stunned to be so close.
In your admiration of the structure and pondering what may lie inside, you missed the creatures sneaking up from behind you. You did not even hear the steps they took before a hand landed on your shoulder. It was cold… And metallic. Shooting your head around, you saw…
Ingo? It could not have been, yet the face was exactly identical beside the subtle presence of it being made of a material outside of flesh. Six floating wings stood out behind it, while something like LED eyes fluttered with life. “Wh-who are you?” you asked nervously, looking around for help.
“I'm Ingo,” a synthesised voice identical to the older twin's called out, “How did you end up here? Are you alright?” His hands tried to move over your body to check for something, but you jumped away. Managing to startle him, you scrambled away from him, foolishly running further up the cliff. By the time you hid behind a rock, you were completely out of breath. Was that a robotic Ingo? Who would even make such a thing! You felt tears in your eyes as you hiccuped quietly. Your phone was dropped somewhere along the way, to your horror. You were alone to fend for yourself against such a thing.
Suddenly, as you were lost in your emotional high, something heavy landed in front of you. Opening your eyes, you felt relief. Emmet stared at you with a tilted head. Jumping up, you almost ran into his arms until he, too, stood up. His body was a bit fluffy where his fuzz grew in, yes, but this Emmet was coated in it from the neck down. Not to mention how simply large he appeared to be. His wings spread out behind him like a flower as he stumbled toward you. Soft clicks and purrs came from him. They were more like the sounds Ingo and Emmet would make among themselves, rather than speak to humans.
A step back did little when a rock was right behind you. When you did not respond to his clicks, he let out a whining sound and charged in your direction. You moved instinctually away and off the cliff. Your life flashed before your eyes as you fell. Squeezing your eyes shut, you could only ponder the strange circumstance that had just happened. You never felt a thing, however. Instead, a cool wind blew across your face. Opening your eyes, you saw Ingo's normal face staring down at you. His wings fluttered as he gazed at the cliff you just came from curiously.
“I-Ingo!” you cried and clung to him, “Th-there's these monstrous versions of you and Emmet, and they tried to take me!” He flew over to where his brother was. You watched as Emmet dodged a fire attack from one of the robotic creatures you had just seen. This one resembled him. Its eyes locked onto you with surprise. Trying to fly over to you, it was then cut off by Emmet using a Heat Wave. Its annoyance was apparent on its face.
“I am Emmet,” it said with a synthesised imitation of Emmet's voice, “I am trying to retrieve my mate. Please stop at once!” A vile purple liquid shot from it at Emmet and caused him to gag. Mate? What was it talking about? You had never seen these creatures before today. Ingo panicked and flew over to you, but ended up dropping you due to a sudden attack by the robotic hybrid. You did not fall far, however, as a gust caught you and landed you safely on a nearby cliff. There was still not time for relief, though.
The robotic Emmet floated down toward you menacingly. Its face holding an eternal grin. Before it got too close, however, an aggressive move came from another fluffy Volcarona hybrid. This one had Ingo's frown as it puffed up like an angry Purrloin. A loud hiss came from it as it let out another powerful attack against the robotic hybrid. You wanted to scream at this odd situation. Each of their counterparts soon came and locked into a battle, allowing you time to get away.
Your twins came flying down with heavy breaths, finally having shook off the attack that the robotic Emmet had unleashed onto them. Ingo gazed at the scene in a certain curiosity. Emmet quickly pressed you behind him, standing puffed up in a fashion similar to the… Prehistoric, you supposed, Volcarona. When they noticed you had gone, they turned to look around before rushing over to where the twins guarded you carefully.
“Dearest!” the robotic Ingo called out desperately, “Are you uninjured? Please step away from those lifeforms, I cannot verify if they carry past pathogens.” Ingo looked annoyed with that. Why did they keep referring to you like that?
“I-I don't know you,” you shook your head, “I know these two! They're my friends!” You clung to Emmet's arm in an attempt to get some comfort. The prehistoric variations carried little for discussion and instead unleashed a buzzing attack. The twins guarded you as they gazed at each other in silence for a moment. Suddenly, Ingo chittered out something, which caused the prehistoric ones to freeze. A response came from their Ingo. Instead of trying to further this conversation, Ingo picked you up again and rushed away from the four, with Emmet close behind. The moth hybrids were clearly exhausted.
“What did they say?” you asked Ingo, desperately.
“… That you were their mate, the same as the iron ones,” Ingo replied with a sigh. He held on to you tighter as they rushed after you.
“Wh-what does that mean?” you needed to know.
“They like you,” Emmet answered, “The same as us!” You froze, as did Ingo. He nearly dropped you, in fact, but managed to regain himself before he did. A warmth spread across your cheeks as you considered his words. They… They saw you as their mate, too? You would almost feel giddy if it were not for the situation.
“B-but, I like you two more!” you cried, clinging to Ingo as he flew to dodge more of the vicious purple goo from the robotic hybrids. Ingo took in a deep breath. If they were on the ground, the prehistoric Volcarona would hunt you down instead. There was no where safe, which is why Ingo rushed into the crater.
Inside, he landed near a strange lab-like building. You three quickly rushed inside to hide from the odd hybrids. The door shut behind you as the twins fell down to catch their breaths after the extensive situation. You slid down beside them. Emmet's eyes looked you over softly. His arm suddenly came around you as he pulled you into a warm hug. “Em-Emmet?” you called out to him, but he just hummed.
“… You like us, too,” he cooed, “We looooove you. Brother was afraid to admit it.” Ingo looked mortified and darted his eyes to the ground. You laughed. Leaning against Emmet, you felt a bit more at ease. Your current situation was dangerous, but maybe there was a way to fix this. An odd noise echoed in the room and caused you to cover your ears. A male voice spoke carefully.
“… There are four Paradox pokemon hybrids outside this building,” he spoke calmly, “I detected two modern hybrids and one human inside, correct?” All of you looked around at each other in wonder for a moment before Ingo spoke up.
“Yes, that is correct,” he told the voice, “They attacked one of us unexpectedly.”
“… I believe it was due to attraction, was it not?” a female voice replied instead, this time, “I hear the Iron Moths calling for their 'mate'.” Ingo froze. Just who were these people?
“… That may be the case, certainly,” Ingo argued, “But, that still does not get them the right to attempt to forcibly take them away.”
“However that may be,” the female voice spoke again, “I would love to observe how the Slither Wing hybrids engage in a relationship, but I suppose you three would like to leave.” She sounded genuinely disappointed. You wondered if she would actually let you.
“I am, too, Sada,” the male voice was back, “But, that would be cruel. Let's help them out, since they brought them back into the crater, at least.” Sada, the woman, and whoever the male was stepped away from their microphone while you three could only wonder about your next move. The door was beginning to show dents from how harshly the Slither Wings, the prehistoric ones more than likely, were hitting it. The fact it had not given was a miracle.
“Turo and I agree the best course of action would be to activate the transporter in that room,” Sada told you not long later, “Use the monitor in the centre of that room to activate it, then go to the gate option and leave. Run away from this area quickly.” The twins were immediately on it, leaving you behind. After it was on, you three each took turns using it. You went first, and they followed.
You found yourself in a room not too admittedly different from the previous one, yet you found a door that took you out near the cliff you had first been near. As soon as you three made it to a place where you could fly from, you were gone as far away from that crater as you three could go. Then, you called a taxi to Levincia and nearly all but passed out when entering your rooms again. Except, this time, you found yourself laying in a bed with Emmet, afraid of another attack. The younger Volcarona twin, however, wrapped a lazy arm around you and passed out. His residual heat warmed your body as you heard Ingo begin snoring soon after.
It felt impossible, but it had been real.
Both the confession from the twins and the entire situation, that is.
It was not long before you joined them, content in the knowledge that your relationship with these odd moth twins had just begun.
~
Then you woke up to glowing lights outside your hotel window with two familiar pairs of LED eyes peering in and a banging on your hotel door room with desperate chittering.

Whumptober* Day 14: “I’ll be right behind you”
*I tried. I really did. I just hit “The Powers That Were Trying His Nerves” and couldn’t take myself seriously anymore.
@blaiddraws, someday I’ll write something for one of your AUs that’s not ridiculous fluff, but alas, today is for Worm Shenanigans.
---
There were certain inevitabilities in life.
The commuter who only just made his train to Humilau every morning, the annual Nimbasa blackout as Elesa’s ambition tripped the power grid, the departure and return of Casteliacones-- all of these events were guaranteed to happen, though the time frames varied between them.
Another constant was this: Ingo picked a direction and Emmet followed him.
It sounded odd, imbalanced even, but it really wasn’t. Ingo was too fair-minded to chart an inequitable path, and Emmet had no compunctions about raising an objection if need be. If anything, it was a game of give and take, of compromises. It was a substantial part of how they had ended up running the Battle Subway.
There was exactly one place Ingo had ventured where Emmet had been unable to join him, but, as always, he’d split the difference. While Emmet still wished he’d been able to accompany his brother on the unplanned commute to Hisui, the fact that it had been a round trip lessened the sting.
It was a strange homecoming, but not a bad one. There was a lot that had to change to accommodate their new lives, and a lot to adjust to or reacquaint oneself with; that was just the nature of things when you or a loved one was reincarnated as a soul-powered train. For every weird or uncomfortable new quirk, there were ways to alleviate that burden or find the fun in it, and there were plenty of perks mixed in. It was life-- just a new spin on it.
From the day he’d figured out who, precisely, was haunting the subway tunnels, Emmet had set his course.
As always, he followed his twin’s lead. It just took a little longer this time.
That was a nice way of saying that, when he passed, he turned right back around and demanded to become a second Frightrail. He knew the drawbacks; he’d been right there to witness them for years on end. While he might not relish the idea of drawing sustenance from others’ life force, he’d come to terms with that reality. Having a completely different body type would be a learning experience, but was it so much worse than moving on without his brother? No.
When it came down to it, that was the answer to every tricky question. He could endure it. They could endure it as a--
...could they be a two car train if they were both trains? Did one’s existence as a literal train preclude their ability to be a metaphorical car?
The Powers That Were Trying His Nerves stared for a long moment, processing, and then decided to wash Its hooves of him. Or at least, he assumed that was what happened. Something had to have occurred, because he blinked and then everything looked wrong.
Well, maybe not wrong, but weird. Even before reaching up to scrub at the rounded snout changing his field of vision, Emmet understood why that was-- again, he’d put years of thought into this, even if he’d made his decision all but immediately-- it was just… a lot at once. At least he had the luxury of knowing what he’d been getting himself into. Having an older sibling was convenient like that.
Speaking of.
He stopped pawing at his steel-smooth nose and looked around. Seemed Arceus had seen fit to plonk him in the park across from the station. Truthfully, Emmet hadn’t expected anything in particular, so this destination made as much sense as anything else. While it would have lived up the classic image of a ghost to rise where he’d died, he really didn’t need that kind of drama in his afterlife; he’d passed at home, and, logically, that space belonged to someone else now.
...he should go haunt the tunnels, just to see how Ingo liked playing worm wrangler.
Emmet made to push himself upright, but only made it so far as the first set of arms, lacking any of the tertiary pairs that studded each segment of plating. Right, they stayed dormant by default, didn’t they? He knew the sections of his body could slide apart to bring them out, but how exactly did one go about doing that…?
Maybe he should have asked some more pointed questions when he’d had the opportunity.
Eventually, he gave up on the ghost limbs, but with some trial and error, managed to wriggle himself into the air, and that would do for now. He stayed lower to the ground than strictly necessary for a host of reasons, ranging from ‘less noticeable’ to ‘not as far to fall’ to ‘feels more train-like’.
He was well aware that there wouldn’t be anyone at Gear Station so early in the morning-- not since Jackie had retired-- but it was home station for a reason, perhaps now more than ever. Even if he couldn’t make the staff understand what he wanted, all he had to do was wait around and he’d get it.
It wound up somewhat easier than he’d expected; even with the late hour, the station master’s office was occupied.
Blatantly ignoring the yellowed sign asking that patrons ‘not tap the glass, because the station master was sleeping’, he nosed it open and barged right in. Then Emmet did something that, were he alive, would have gone against the very fabric of his moral code: he deliberately caused a collision of trains.
With a sleepy hiss, his victim cracked an eye open, then chuffed a yawn.
“How long has it been?” He asked, nudging insistently at his brother’s face, “Do not tell me you were asleep all this time.”
“’All this time’? I can make assumptions, too, you realize. You’ve been here… hm… seven minutes, and you’re already jumping to conclusions.” Ingo rumbled, amused. His voice was raspy with disuse, and he didn’t even bother opening his other eye. Combined, it told Emmet that yes, he’d been asleep for awhile.
Magnanimously, he decided to ignore the comment, “You taunted me for days, before. And this time you decided to take a nap?”
His twin finally resigned himself to consciousness and ducked under Emmet’s head, giving himself room to stretch the first set of arms. “I’ve told you, the circumstances were nerve-wracking; it only turned into a game because that was the track you chose.”
Emmet grumbled his malcontent, and, to his surprise, it echoed in his throat. Before he had the chance to fully process that fact, Ingo raised his head, bumping against his.
“I assisted for a time, but it wasn’t fun in your absence. This seemed the easiest solution.”
Oh, it was a matter of fun was it? He could work with that. Eyes darting this way and that, he picked a quarry and escape route. When Ingo seemed distracted untangling himself, Emmet lunged forward and gave the tip of his tail a yank before scurrying off toward platform 3.
There was a bark of outrage that quickly condensed into:
“Your form is terrible!”
A delighted whistle escaped him and, without turning back, he called:
“Then you had better come correct me!”
The air displaced behind him, a secondary presence emerging from the slipstream he’d carved. There was a tug on his tail just before Ingo pulled up to his side.
“Honestly,” He huffed, nudging at Emmet’s spectral arm, “You studied aerodynamics; you should be aware of how inefficient this is.”
The plating slid shut at the contact and, unbalanced by his arms’ sudden exit, Emmet wobbled in the air. As he sped up, Ingo pressed their sides together, steadying him until he was the one leading, purposefully cutting a path through the air for Emmet to follow.
Well that just proved it: two cars to a train, irregardless of the number of sub-trains within.
Some things simply did not change.

Always here
For the month of Emmet.
-
-
“Dad! Dad! It’s starting!”
Arthur picks up his speed, gathering all the snacks and 2 liters he can fit in his arms before rushing towards the living room.
He sets the items down as carefully as he could while shuffling to the ground to sit next to his son, who moves over to let the large man sit in front of the tv.
“You’re gonna mess up the ship!” Despite the monotoned cry, Arthur chuckles.
“Sorry kiddo, I’m tryin’ to be easy.” He manages to make his way into the big pillow fort.
The fort is just big enough to house him, even if it’s in the shape of a pirate ship, or as good as Arthur could get it. With white sheets up like sails, and a broomstick barely stable holding up a black flag with a goof skull on it wearing a straw hat.
Emmet snaps his head towards the tv as the intro plays, mutely squealing and singing along to it.
Arthur gives a half-lopsided smile as he hums the tune. He loves these moments, and he wishes Ingo was more into these animes to spend time with him too, but the child is in his room and using these moments to make schedules.
He’s brought from his thoughts when Emmet launches forward, foot on the low coffee table, and a fake cardboard sword out.
“These bad guys got nothing on us! We are verrry strong!”
“Ain’t nothing on us with you are their side.” Arthur nudges his son, chuckling at the bright expression his boy gives.
Emmet never sits down, his whole body moving as he cheers for the pirates on screen, only taking brief moments to stop to grab some chips to eat or get a drink.
Arthur does his best to meet the boy’s energy, easily lifting Emmet with one arm and resting him on his shoulder as they both cheer on the young pirate.
It didn’t take long from all the movement to knock the fort over, but thankfully by then, the show has went off.
Emmet pops his head out from under the fallen pillows, his laugh echoing in the living room and his smile as bright as the sun.
“Dad! Dad! Did you see that!? That fight was soooo cool!” Easily he jumps up and lands on his dad’s stomach.
The air is knocked from Arthur, but he can only join in on his son’s joy.
“I wanna just as strong as them!”
“I bet you’ll be even stronger, kiddo.”
He can’t help but cherish these moments. No matter how often they happen, he never wants them to end.
…..
……….
…………..
How long had it been?
How long had he been staring at the tv?
Much had changed since that memory, it all came flooding back to the much older man seeing that same pirate anime on his screen.
It was Emmet’s favorite and what got him into anime to begin with.
Arthur stares for a moment more before realizing just how quiet his house is.
His Pokémon resting as they have gotten up in age.
His herdier napping at his feet, greying around her muzzle.
His Excadrill’s black fur slowly turns silver.
Even Arthur had grown much older.
The silver in his hair only grows, and the crows' feet on his face deepen.
It seems just like yesterday his boys were ten and running around, causing the cutest mayhem.
Now it’s just him and Emmet….
He hesitates but doesn’t stop for long when he picks up his phone, pressing call.
“Hello, I am Emmet. What’s wrong? You never call.”
Arthur knows he doesn’t call, preferring to text and meet in person, but he can’t help it this time.
“I…I was scrollin’ through my streamin’ service and I saw that show you liked. You remember that one you’d always have me build a pillow fort over?”
“Oh yeah! My verrry favorite, I haven’t watched it in a while.”
Arthur blinks the tears away, cracking a half smile.
“I was wonderin’ if maybe you’d like to visit and watch it with me.”
It’s a work day, and Emmet has been drowning himself in work to keep himself busy. He knows his sons were roommates, especially with the prices in Nimbasa, so it must be hard on him to return to an empty home.
“I’d like that. Be there after work.”
“Sounds good. I love you.”
“I love you too, Dad.”
Arthur hangs up, placing his phone down before standing and walking around his house. His movements catch the attention of his elderly Pokémon, all making a curious sound or following him.
He roots through the boxes in the garage, trying to find the flag, his silver eyes lighting up at the familiar goofy-looking skull.
With the flag in his grasp, he gets to work.
Around seven at night, there is a knock on the door before it opens.
Emmet sighs, work has been stressful as ever, and still no signs of Ingo anywhere. He places his bags down, hanging his hat and coat on the coat rack as he kicks his shoes off and leaves them by the door.
Looking down he smiles at his childhood pets.
“Hello Pepper, hello Roxie, looking verrry cute today.” He pets the old Herdier and Excadrill.
A faint glow makes him look up.
“Hello to you too Lilac.”
The Lampet gently hums, spinning around the younger twin.
He walks through the home, and right into the living room.
“Dad I’m-“ Emmet cuts himself off, staring at the scene before him.
His dad setting up a massive pillow fort, one he remembers all too well, and said the old man trying to get the flag to stay up top.
“Damn it, I was hopin’ the girls would hold ya off ‘till I got this up.”
Emmet is stunned.
He hasn’t seen this set up in a decade or two.
The coffee table is filled with their favorite sugary drinks but no snacks. He’s snapped out of it when Arthur lets out a happy sound before he moves out of the way to show off his work.
“What do ya think? I ain’t lost my touch yet.”
Emmet laughs, but can’t bring himself to speak.
“I also ordered yer favorite takeout, I hope that’s alright.”
How long had it been since he and his dad last hung out like this? How long had he been so neck-deep in his work, he forgot he still had family left?
Arthur lets out a soft ‘oof-‘ as Emmet slams into him, the twin burying his face into his dad’s chest and arms tightly around him. Arthur is quick to wrap his arms around Emmet, holding him in a protective hold.
He can feel his shirt growing wet, yet Emmet doesn’t make a sound, even if his shoulders are shaking.
Arthur stands there, shushing his son softly but never letting him go, letting him stay here as long as he liked.
“M’sorry.”
The older man rests his head on top of his son’s.
“Ain’t nothing to apologize for. I’ll always be here.”
Emmet lets out a choked sob, clinging to his father like he’s afraid he’ll disappear too. Arthur doesn’t mind, simply sitting them down under the comfort and safety of the pillow fort.
His Pokémon grow concerned, as a dimming Haxorus pokes his head into the fort and gently nudges Emmet’s back.
Pepper and Roxie crawl in, leaning against the two men while the Haxorus Hazel guards the open entrance.
Arthur doesn’t care how long it takes for his son to calm down, he will sit here and hold him until he does.

Across Space, Time and Dreams (ASTaD) (Ch. 23)
(Blankshippers DNI)
(Please refer to beginning of chapter 1 post for complete list of CWs/TWs)
(Extra notes: Yippiee, chapter 23, second chapter for the day! Once again, this chapter is about Ingo being reintroduced to his origin world, which I think is important. Again, I hope I could make it enjoyable for you all! Either way, it won't be like this for long. Thank you all so much!)
(This chapter's illustration done by @moonlightalpha666 !)
(Reblogs are appreciated!)
-
A few days had passed since Ingo had been reintroduced to his house, and his memories were slowly but surely returning to him. Some made him emotional, others made him laugh, and others simply gave him a sense of content.
Today, Ingo decided he wanted to go and reintroduce himself to arguably one of the most important places in his life of all- the Subway System!
Throughout Ingo's own life, and Emmet's, they both shared 3 major passions: Pokémon- especially battling- trains- especially metro- and helping themselves and others- especially with their goals!
Ingo knew this is why working in the Subway System was such a perfect career for the two of them- it was a mix of a place for both everyday transportation, and a location for amazing battles! This allowed them to help both people and Pokémon alike- including themselves- in multiple ways; helping folks have a safe ride to a new destination, battling to new limits, and sometimes a mix of both!
Ingo was full of energy and anticipation, ready to see the Subway System.
Emmet had issued for the Nimbasa Subway Station to not run overnight that day, so that he and Ingo could tour it by themselves, and for alternative forms of transportation to be provided to those who needed it. Thankfully, there were enough Depot Agents to carry out the job.
By now, the public had been altered of Ingo's return. There were clear signs they were antsy to see him, and Ingo had sent out a small message thanking everyone for their kindness. Ingo was more than glad to be a figure in people's lives, but he preferred that his memory situation be kept to a specific group of people. He did not want to lie to anyone, so he did not specify anything, but he also knew that if his situation got out, there would be a lot more pressure on him than there already was.
All they needed to know was that he was back, and that he was recovering. Everything would be okay, and he would go on to continue to inspire those who looked up to him.
Emmet, Ingo and Depot Agents Cloud and Jackie had alerted the other Depot Agents of the memory situation. They were stricken with shock, but understood. There needed to be some people who knew more so that the system could work efficiently while Ingo was still recovering. Thankfully, they also understood Ingo's concerns, and promised not to tell anyone. In the end, they were just glad to see Ingo again- even if there was a bit of heartache, they knew it would heal, and the reunion with the rest of Ingo's workplace family was wonderful.
This put Ingo at ease. With the planning complete and a bit of rest, he was ready to see the Subway!
This time, it was only the brothers who went. Drayden and Elesa would've loved to have gone, and Ingo and Emmet would've loved them to be there, but they had to prepare their own plans for later on.
Besides, as much as Elesa and Drayden were absolutely welcome to join Ingo and Emmet, the Battle System was definitely more of their own thing.
The twins strided towards one of the main entrances of the Subway System. Emmet had told Ingo he thought it would be a good idea to tour the non-battle area of the Subway System first, but of course, if Ingo wanted to do otherwise, Emmet was more than happy to oblige.
Ingo had thought about it, and he decided that Emmet's plan was probably more ideal. He didn't want to end up getting lost or overwhelmed- besides, as long as Ingo got to see everything soon enough, he didn't really mind at all what order they visited things in.
"Here we are!" Emmet announced, stopping in front of the entrance. Ingo stopped walking as well, scanning what was in front of him.
On their way to the entrance, Ingo had seen a few signs and other things that struck him as related to the Subway System. The building was definitely very big, and had a multitude of windows and a pair of large, glass doors. There were signs and decorations on the exterior of the building- Ingo even saw a couple of artistic renditions of him and Emmet!
Just like in his missing persons file and other things, Ingo noticed he looked somewhat different from how he looked now.
"That's us on those signs." Ingo commented.
"That it is!" Emmet replied.
Ingo looked at the glass doors again, and through them he could see the temporarily empty, yet complex and still lively interior of the building. He smiled.
"Let's go in!”
Ingo was amazed at the sight that enveloped his surroundings when he and Emmet entered the building. As expected, it was an extremely wide area, with many places to go. As the twins walked around the place, Ingo examined all the different types of things- ticket stands, signs, and most importantly- a train and its track!
Ingo remembered that this one specifically was for transporting passengers to other destinations. People and Pokémon alike came here for that service.
As Ingo took in his surroundings, he experienced many emotions and thoughts.
"Wow!" Ingo exclaimed, blinking away a few tears, "It's so amazing! We'll be able to get on one, right?"
Emmet chuckled, "Indeed! But it will be just a bit later, if that is alright!"
Ingo really wanted to get onto the train, but he knew that it would be easier to just wait. He sighed, but let out a breathy laugh.
"Of course! What's next?"
After turning and going through a specific order of rooms and hallways, Emmet and Ingo entered a special area.
"Woah!" Ingo spoke.
"This is the control room!" Emmet explained, "Or the central terminal- whichever you prefer."
Ingo marveled at the room they had just entered- it had no ceiling lights, but was lit up by the many screens decorating the walls- along with a counter in the middle that had a screen embedded in as the top. The screens along the walls seemed to reflect mostly other areas of the subway, while the countertop screen served as a digital map for the train system.
There were other counters along the screens that had many different types of controls- buttons, levers, sliders. As complex as all of this was, Ingo felt like he didn't really have to think all that hard to understand it- it came naturally, it seemed.
"Do you recognize how all this works?" Emmet asked Ingo.
Ingo nodded, "I don't feel too confused. I think a bit of it may be a little far from me, but it will return soon enough."
Emmet smiled and nodded, "That is verrry good to hear, brother!"
Next, Emmet showed Ingo to the multitude of offices- it seemed theirs was largest and given the most importance, which made sense.
It looked quite similar to the home office Ingo and Emmet had inside their house, but more organized and professional. There were additional things such as lockers, which would be important for a job such as this.
Ingo sensed a warm feeling grow in him as he scanned more details of the room. He remembered that he and Emmet had many roles within this System, and that they loved doing it!
Afterwards, Emmet showed Ingo to the many storage closets scattered around the area. Inside was, as expected, supplies for the subway, along with the occasional retired scrap and lost personal belongings, and other things of the like.
Then, there was the break room- as its name suggested, it's where the staff would hang out during their break periods, usually lunch break.
It had a calm vibe to it, which Ingo liked. There were some tables and a water dispenser, along with some other things. Ingo recalled this is often where he and Emmet would speak to the Depot Agents- they were all wonderful individuals. Ingo had wondered if the same staff were still here, and it seemed they were.
After this, Emmet showed Ingo to arguably the best part of the subway- where all the trains were!
They entered the area, and as everything came into view, Ingo's eyes sparkled and a small smile spread on his face. It was a circular room with a multitude of tunnels carved into the walls, signs hanging from the side of each tunnel, detailing what purpose they served.
"This is the main hub for the subway station!" Emmet commented.
Ingo jumped, "Bravo!! Don't the tunnels lead to where the trains are?"
"Yup! I will show you to the transportation trains first, and then the battle trains! How does that sound?"
Ingo nodded quickly, and Emmet began to lead Ingo down the tunnels.
Each tunnel led to a larger area, with stands where staff would stay and hand out tickets and such- and then, most importantly- the tracks, the platform, and the train! Ingo's excitement and happiness peaked, his passion for what he loved clearly never having eroded with his time in Hisui.
Emmet and Ingo stood into the first train, and Ingo's eyes shined, his mouth gaping open ever-so-slightly at the sight, which made Emmet chuckle.
Emmet led Ingo to the very front of the train first, and Ingo marveled at the contraptions present in front of the train- he felt like he knew these things very well. Probably because he did!
Ingo reached for the locomotive controls, but he was interrupted.
"Wait! Do not touch that, please." Ingo heard Emmet say.
Ingo turned towards Emmet, confused.
"Why not?"
Emmet winced as heard the disappointment in Ingo's voice, but he kept his smile.
"You will be able to drive one of the trains, I promise!" Emmet explained, "I would love to go on as many rides with you on them as you would like, but if a train is used, it is protocol to check them thoroughly at the end of the day! I do not want to give ourselves or the other staff too much trouble, as much as I would be willing to go through that trouble for you!"
"Oh! Right." Ingo nodded, pulling his hands away from the controls.
“But!" Emmet added, "You can try out the other things!"
A smile spread across Ingo's face, and Emmet watched with glee as he saw Ingo try out everything he could- he honked the horn, he spoke through the PA system.
Ingo's eyes widened and his smile grew further with wonder as he heard the iconic ‘whooo-whoooooo’ of the train whistle.
"Bravo!!" Ingo announced into the PA, giggling as he heard his voice echo throughout the train.
Tumblr media
Ingo placed the PA back into its resting position, turning to Emmet, his eyes now softer. It really felt like this was something he loved doing, in his home world.
"I love it!" Ingo voiced.
Emmet chuckled, "I am glad! Let us go take a look around the rest of the train!"
Ingo and Emmet strided through the train, Ingo looking around, his eyes having stars in them as he took everything in.
This wouldn't change upon going on the other trains.
Emmet could tell Ingo was getting even more excited as they went to look at the battle trains, and that didn't seem out of character at all.
Most of the things were similar, but Ingo noticed the areas for the transportation compared to the battle trains, and the trains themselves, differed slightly from each other.
Then, Emmet stopped Ingo. Now, the only train they hadn't been into was the Multi Train.
"Okay! That is most of it! So what do you think of everything so far?" Emmet commented.
Ingo jumped, "What do I think? All I can say is super bravo!! Everything looks incredible!! But don't we have one last train to see..?"
"Yup- the Multi Train!" Emmet stated, "I saved that one for last, and you will see why! Follow me!"
Ingo only nodded, following Emmet with anticipation, excitement and curiosity.
As Emmet and Ingo walked onto one of the train platforms, Emmet announced, "Now! We can finally go on a ride on one of the trains! How about the Multi Battle Train?"
One of the biggest of Ingo unique smile's in a long time spread across his face. He somehow knew it was where he and Emmet spent a lot of time together, so it was the perfect decision! Ingo nodded eagerly.
Emmet led Ingo to where the Multi Train rested. It looked pretty much the same as an average train, although there were small differences in design, including writing along the side that indicated its purpose. Emmet opened the train's door, and the brothers stepped inside.
Emmet waved Ingo to the front of the train, where the controls of the locomotive were.
"Here! Now you can mess with these! How about you try getting the train to start?" Emmet offered.
Ingo nodded, and scanned the control panel for a moment. He was a bit unsure, but almost as if it was instinctive, Ingo worked with the controls in a specific order, before the train rumbled to life, and began slowly moving down the tracks.
Ingo's eyes gleamed, and Emmet clapped his hands. "Amazing job, Ingo!"
Ingo laughed, the joy in him seemingly endless. He messed with a handful of the other controls, as long as he knew that it was ultimately harmless.
Emmet laughed, as well, happy to see his brother having a good time. After Ingo was done with the controls, the younger twin led the older twin through the rest of the train, Ingo glancing around. As with the other battle trains, Ingo noticed there were a couple of differences, but otherwise, it didn't look that different from the transportation trains. As Emmet motioned for Ingo to stop with him in one cart, it dawned on Ingo.
"Can't it transform?" Ingo conveyed.
"That is right!" Emmet responded, "Here, snap your fingers with me on three!"
Ingo felt a bit puzzled, but the suggestion felt correct. He positioned his hand.
"One...two...three!"
Snap!
The twins snapped their fingers right at the same time, and a quick moment after, Ingo watched in wonder as the interior of the train cart transformed from a regular-looking cart to a wide-open room, complete with patterns on the floor, showing the cart now served as a battlefield!
Ingo beamed, clapping his hands and giggling, feeling extremely nostalgic at the sight of the battle cart.
Then, Emmet began to speak, walking to the other side of the cart.
"Now, if you do not want to, that is absolutely fine, but I personally think it would be a bit incomplete to visit the Battle Subway without doing one thing..."
Ingo's eyes sparkled, and he smirked, "I think my brain is on the same track as yours, brother.."
The twins grabbed the brim of their hats and pointed at each other,
"Emmet!"
"Ingo!"
The brothers announced at the same time:
"I challenge you to a Pokémon battle!"
-
The train was at its fastest- all passengers could hear the wheels turning, feeling the all-too-familiar chugga chugga chugga chugga rhythm of the train shooting through the tunnel, bouncing on the tracks, the wind blowing.
"Chandelure, use Shadow Ball one last time!" Ingo commanded.
"Eelektross, Thunder Bolt!" Emmet countered.
Chandelure formed a dark ball of energy and launched it at Eelektross as the other Ace Pokémon threw down a crack of lightning. Ingo swore he saw Chandelure and Eelektross move out of the way and evade the attacks- or did they? Would another turn be in order? All too soon, the powers collided, and a cloud of smoke enveloped the cart.
As the smoke cleared, Ingo lowered his arms from his face. He immediately snapped his eyes to the battlefield, scanning the scene.
Both Chandelure and Eelektross staggered to their respective sides of the field- before at the same time, Chandelure's bright, blazing flames regressed to ever-so-smaller and darker flames, it floating closer to the floor now. Eelektross lowered its head, the sparks it had been letting off residing, and using both its back fins and arms to hold itself up.
Neither Pokémon could battle further.
Ingo and Emmet locked eyes at the same time. They inhaled deeply, catching their breath. There was a moment of silence, the brothers only being able to guess what the other was thinking.
Then, one of those unique smiles spread across the older twin. Emmet's smaller smile grew as he watched his brother begin to laugh. It started out as a chuckle, then a louder snickering, before he was full-out bursting into laughter.
Emmet blinked, a bit confused, although Ingo's laugh was contagious, as he started laughing some, too. Ingo was laughing so much, tears began to run down his face.
Then, Emmet jumped as he watched Ingo's joyful laughter transform into sniffling, his wide grin and loud laughter turning into a unstable smile and hushed snickering.
Chandelure, worried, hovered over to Ingo, Emmet doing the same as he darted over the battlefield, Eelektross following with its quick crawling.
Emmet's smile had turned into a small, worried twinkle, as he stood in front of Ingo, placing his hands on his brother's shoulder.
"Ingo, what is wrong?"
Ingo let out another chuckle as a slower, less intense stream of tears fell down his face, and he simply stated
"We often did tie, didn't we? Almost every time.."
Emmet was taken aback, his mouth hanging open slightly, but then he beamed, and tears pricked at his eyes, as well. Now, Emmet let out his own soft laugh.
"We even tied at the Champions League."
There was a moment of quiet, but it wasn't uncomfortable. Then, Ingo spoke, "I know maybe it sounds silly, but...I think that was...important. A perfect parallel. Even if I can't remember the details I feel...more complete. I feel as if..my soul has been brought to a stronger state of content."
Ingo's smile turned bittersweet, and another line of tears fell down his face,
"There's so much more to know, to explore, but...this feels like it was one of the more..notable missing pieces. A key. Symbolic of...so much."
Then, Ingo reached his arms outwards, inviting his younger brother into a hug, Emmet gladly accepting the offer, the twins embracing. Ingo waved Chandelure and Eelektross to join them, and the two aces were more than happy to do so. Chandelure hovered closer to Ingo, but didn't hesitate to enfold both trainers in its appendages, while Eelektross, closer to Emmet, wrapped both twins in its body.
"Thank you so much, Emmet. Chandelure. Eelektross."
Now, tears rolled down Emmet's face, too, but he was happy as could be.
"No, thank you, Ingo. And..that is not silly. Not at all."
Chandelure made a series of whistle-esc and clunking sounds, Eelektross letting out a few gurgling and spark-esc noises, both assuring Ingo they were just as grateful, and that there was no reason to feel silly.
This had represented one of Ingo's greatest passions and parts of his life, after all.
After their heart-to-heart, Ingo and Emmet made sure to heal up their Pokémon, thanking and congratulating them for their performance, before returning them to their Pokéballs.
Ingo and Emmet returned to the locomotive, and Ingo watched curiously as Emmet inputted a few commands into the control panel.
"I wanted to show you something, but we will have to wait just a little bit."
"Well, I can't wait to see whatever it is!"
After a bit of time, Ingo saw as the train rose to tracks above the ground.
"These are the outlying tracks. We do not come here often, but we still technically have authority over it." Emmet explained.
Ingo felt a wave of emotion wash over him as he took in the beautiful view. He had seen and reunited with many important things in his life today, and even though he couldn't remember everything now, he was excited and happy to know he was and would be regaining his memories and reclaiming his life.
Emmet was happy, too, although they didn't have to speak to know that.
"The train will be rounding back to its beginning position soon." Emmet stated, "We still have a few things to do. For now, though, we can just rest for a bit."
Ingo nodded. He and Emmet made their way to the first cart after the locomotive, sitting down next to each other on one of the lines of seats. They spoke for a while- Ingo talked about how he thought they must've worked really hard, and that he was very glad to be able to be rediscovering everything. Emmet replied with his usual blunt yet comforting and helpful remarks, letting Ingo know about what he should know, and the answers he asked for.
Soon, the brothers felt the train come to a stop. They stood up, Emmet showing Ingo the safety procedures the younger brother had mentioned earlier before leaving the train to its own. Ingo felt familiar with it, and helped perform the procedure almost as if he had never forgotten.
Afterwards, Emmet continued to tour Ingo- just a few more things, and if Ingo wanted to do something of his own suggestion, they would!
As they walked, Ingo felt a feeling of warmth, of resolve, of stability and comfort within himself. Tears pricked at his eyes, and he wiped them away, although a few more broke through. Emmet saw, and before he could ask, Ingo smiled.
"I'm just so happy to be here again." Ingo explained, "This place, everything in it...it's my passion. A huge part of my life....I'm glad to be able to be with it, and see it again. And I'm so grateful you were here with me. Thank you, Emmet."
Emmet's eyes softened, and his small, worried smile turned into a happy grin.
"Of course, Ingo! Thank you for coming here."

Hisui Live Stream AU
Akari is Champion Dawn and ends up in Hisui with only the clothes on her back and her phone blessed by Arceus. She's only able to live stream her adventures and isn't even sure they're posting. They do post whenever she enters a distortion, but she just can't see the responses.
Imagine Champion Dawn missing for a week before suddenly going live. People click on only to see her in a hazy purple area with ancient styled clothes. She's going on about how different the past is to the future and complaining about having to learn how to wash clothes by hand and not being able to have a hot shower (the horror!). She also explain how she managed to make it so her arcphone can make it see what she sees and being able to use both hands. People can see her using a shinx, bidoof, and oshawott. They watch as she catches pokemon including the largest cyndaquil and Rowlett people have ever seen that she calls "alphas". The ends as she approaches an old-style village saying that she doesn't want people to see her talking to her arcphone since they don't know what it is.
People are obviously confused. They look at her profile to see she live streamed at least once a day. They learn she's going by the name Akari. And they're horrified to realize that she's literally in the past on an honest to Reshiram Arceus set mission. And that the reward for said mission is meeting Arceus again and presumably heading home.
It becomes big news.
It inspires memes.
It inspires prayers.
People pity her as they watch her begin to drive herself to the ground in an effort to get home. They watch as she latches onto the streams in an effort to alleviate some homesickness.
They watch that as she spirals further they're granted access to meet the citizens of Hisui. Simply because she can't be bothered to preserve the timeline anymore. And they as the citizens also pity her and enduldge her because she's their best resource of pokemon information.
They watch as Irida introduces Warden Ingo. Subway Master Ingo. Akari doesn't know Ingo is a Subway Master because plot, but boy howdy do the viewers know. Emmet finds out because he was watching the videos with Lenora in an attempt to distract himself from the fact that Ingo has been gone for 4 months. (At this point Dawn would be in Hisui for 3 weeks and it's funny to think that Ingo immediately got promoted to Warden as soon as the Pearl Clan found him) Nimbasa would set up a prayer site at the subway begging for Ingo to be returned home along with Dawn. There would be so many gifts to the gods for their safe passage home. The janitors would have to constantly move then so the space doesn't become a hazard.
They also get a first hand view of all the nobles' frenzies and how close she came to death multiple times. Kamando has people cursing his name now. Emmet is yelling at his brother to help that poor girl.
But the theories. People accurately guess that Volo is evil. They're very vindicated when Volo's treachery is revealed. People theorize that the crack and distortions in Hisui are just the by products of Cyrus and they'll fix themselves with time. People theorize that this was her punishment for catching the creation trio.
People also ship.

pssst. got any blankshipping headcanons? (doesn’t have to be for a specific au!)
generally? i have a whole fic of them lol
some more include:
all their pokemon are co-trained -- they consider their teams to be one big team really and will just rotate which pokemon accompanies which of them depending on the collective mood (this might be a cheat since technically there is evidence in the games of this, as emmet is shown to use both chandelure and excadrill on the doubles lines) ALSO all their pokemon have names having something to do with trains
their romance languages really fit perfectly together in that emmet is much more likely to dole out physical affection while craving praise, and ingo is quick to heavily praise and craves touch -- ingo is soooo touch-starved after his time in hisui and emmet is quick to remedy that
after their sorta marriage in this comic, ingo, emmet, and elesa all went out to get pizza and had a nice sleepover at their house with all their pokemon and got gloriously drunk
they have a cynical sense of humour about being brocons -- when they first started having a romantic relationship they were very anxious over it (ingo moreso in general, while emmet was more just worried about if ingo regretted it), but after a while it just became something of a running gag that only a few select people are in on
speaking of how many people actually know about them: not many. elesa and the rest of the gym leaders know, because there's no secrets amongst this clique, and a scant few amongst the senior depot agents -- the rest of nimbasa ships it in a kind of passive way, but in a 'haha wouldn't that be something' way LITTLE DO THEY KNOW
emmet is a morning person and ingo is a night person; emmet sit upright in the morning wide awake and immediately get to making coffee and feeding their pokemon while ingo literally cannot get out of bed until he has two cups of coffee, and ingo will often have to haul emmet home after a long day because once the sun goes down it's a ticking clock before he passes out
it took a while for them to get back to gear station after ingo returns, as ingo needed to relearn some things and emmet hasn't really been taking the best care of himself, but they work to cover each other's backs as always and re-sync eventually

Legendary Boon AU :: So... How’s Emmet Holding Up?
The answer? He’s been better :T
Much like Reshiram and Zekrom, Ingo and Emmet were a package deal - one should not be invoked without the other, as they compliment each other perfectly. They fit together, hold each other up -
A two car train, chugging along the tracks of life without any intention of slowing down until such a time that the track itself ends.
They were meant to be opposites and compliments and always the same, yet ever different. It was the staple of all twins in the Wagner family.
They were, after all, direct descendants of the heroes of legend - the sons of truth and ideals. (So the rumors say: if you asked them directly you would not get an answer that satisfies anybody)
They were The Blessed of the Dragons. Their Boons gifted to them at the tender age of ten years old, as tradition dictates (so is it supposed). Their beloved Uncle, the patriarch fo the family, had a strong, strong feeling that these boys were different from the rest. That together, they would accomplish great things.
And they had. Together.
And yet, and yet, and yet …
And yet, here Emmet was, alone, the disciple of the dragon of truth, lost without his ideals. Abandoned abruptly and left to wonder what could have taken his ever opposing yet ever complementary force.
How he functioned was sometimes a mystery, even to Emmet.
Some days were harder than others, some weeks or months felt as if they dragged into forever, and he felt the need to pray to Dialga, of all beings, to make time not feel so never ending.
His family helped, as did his many friends - and even some of Ingo’s friends that they did not share. He was never alone for very long, and the dragging hours never felt too painful, even if he wished they would end.
But time never stops its ceaseless march, and Emmet resolved to remain steadfast until his brother returned. His family and friends agreed, even if someone of them gave him a condescending or pitiful look, something he always called out.
He knew that Ingo would return. Chandelure still floated about, and - quite frankly - did not seem very worried about her ace trainer. Emmet just had to be patient - he was alive, and he would return.
-
Ingo had been missing for a year and a half, when Emmet gets a, frankly, bizarre lead.
A mysterious, manila envelope slid under his apartment door, and inside of it was a photo.
It is a very, very old photo, but the person within it was unmistakable - it was obviously, clearly his brother - from the hat to the torn up coat to the fact that the child posing next to him had her hair rising with just a bit of static - something that seemed to make her laugh as the photo was taken.
But what was he doing in Sinnoh???
In old Sinnoh?? TIME TRAVEL???
His boon could not verify photography (of course it couldn’t), but he knew a roundabout way of confirming its authenticity - and in theory, it didn’t even require his boon!.
And so, he takes it to the ever-imposing Nimbasa City Public library, and gets assistance from his friend who works in preservation to look at it. Easy verification! In theory.
Anya - who has always been a terrible liar, even without his boon active - warns him that she is not a photograph-related preservationist. She specializes in books and physical paper - only handling photography in relation to those books. She promised however, that she will try her best.
And so, she looks over the photo for him. It took her some time, and a call to a university friend back in Galar, but she confirmed - to the best of her ability - that this is in fact a real, historical photo, which baffles the both of them.
Emmet thanks her, and she asks what he plans on doing next.
He tells her he’s going to Sinnoh, and she wishes him the best of luck.
He doesn't need his boon to feel her sincerity.
And so, after a long talk with Elesa (ever strong, every assistive, ever truthful to a fault with him), and Dreyden’s blessing, he left Unova for the first time in over 10 years.
He would find the answer he was looking for, the truth that had been denied
And it was when he set foot in Jubilife city, that the vivid dreams started.

Wrong Track: Emmet Edition
Summary: After an unintended harsh quip at work, Emmet fears the worst has become of his relationship, but amends are quick to be made.
Pairing: Emmet x gender-neutral! reader
Genre: Angst to fluff
Ingo edition can be found here!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Darrrrling, you ready yet?"
"Just a sec, Em! I'm afraid I may have over-dressed!"
"Nonsense! Anything will be perfect for today, yep yep!"
You both had been looking forward for this day, with Emmet practically bouncing off the walls in his sleep the night prior. He had insisted on taking you to work with him down at Gear Station to get a behind-the-scenes look at what he does for a living on the Double and Multi Lines.
He also insisted that you ask as many questions about his job as you needed to, and he would be all too eager to ramble to his beloved about his passion.
However, because it was around the holidays, crowds would be bustling at higher rates than ever, so Emmet requested that you bring out a member of your Pokemon party to accompany you when they departed, so he would know who to look for if traffic became too congested for either of you to see each other.
Additionally, due to his seam-bursting excitement a few hours prior, not much sleep was obtained on Emmet's side of the bed, so there were slight bags under his eyes. You expressed your tinge of concern about his energy levels potentially being lower today, but he insisted that it wasn't a bother at all, no sir! He's had plenty of sleepless nights and performed just as well at work on his trains!
Despite his reassurance that he would be perfectly fine, you had your doubts. You've heard stories from other depot agents about how aggressive Emmet could be battling on a lack of sleep, and feared that he'd make some undesirable remarks and lose a few passengers as a result. But once again, the twin promised that he'd be on his best behavior, especially since he was with his darling, oh yes! He HAD to do his best today!
You hoped so even as you two made your way through the busy streets of Nimbasa City, the white-clad Station Master with an arm through yours while his Archeops perched atop his shoulders, head resting on his cap while she made occasional caws and chirps in your direction. You returned the gesture with whistles of your own, which excited her so much that her tail was thumping restlessly against Emmet's collarbone, for it was swung across his shoulder and front like a scarf, and her claws were scratching against the top of his hat.
"Archieeeee, calm yourself!" Emmet whined over the bustle of the crowds as he reached a hand up to scratch the crown of her head to calm her down. It worked, for her head and neck sagged back down atop his head as her eyes closed, letting out a content trill as she nuzzled him more. "We have to remain dutiful for our beloved and their Empress, yes yes!"
Empress was the nickname for your Empoleon, who you decided would accompany you through the city and act as a bodyguard for the two of you. Well, three counting Archie. She loved to salute like Emmet and attempted to mimic his stance the best she could, despite her bulkier build, and she would always return deeper trills whenever Archie sent noise in her direction.
Her footsteps audibly resounded against the concrete as the little group of you, her, Emmet and Archie descended the steps of the entrance to the Gear Station, with Emmet taking the lead at the foot of the stairs and guiding you to his office, where he had to gather a few things before you were all to board the Double Line train.
As Emmet rummaged around, you fancied yourself to asking him a few questions.
"Hey, Em?
"Hmm?" You got a simple noise in response, perhaps his focus on retrieving whatever he needed taking up his time.
"Who drives the trains while you and Ingo battle?"
"Why, our most experienced and trained conductors, of course!"
"Have you and Ingo ever driven any of the trains before?"
"Yes, sometimes ourselves, sometimes on autopilot while we oversaw other controls or battled on our respective Lines!"
“Are the Single and Double Lines out of service when you two run the Multi Line?"
"Most of the time, no," he answered as he finished his rummaging around and sealed up a backpack, slinging it over his shoulder as he walked towards the door and stood aside for you to cross through. Empress was just outside, scanning the surroundings for any trespassers while you three were inside, and stepped aside to let you exit with a thump of a steely fin to her side.
When you had all exited and Emmet had shut the door, now guiding your group towards his Line, he resumed his answer to your latest question. "We have depot agents on adjacent trains that assist us in crossing from one Line to the other while they are all in service so we can get to our respective rooms if a challenger ever makes it that far!" He huffed a little and lowered his cap at this next bit. "Verrrry few challengers have made it to me and Ingo recently, though. Sad if you ask me!"
You took note of a bit of desperation and hinderance in your boyfriend's voice and decided to tread with caution. Archie looked down at you from her perch atop Emmet's shoulders, seemingly also taking note of a change in her Trainer's mood, and Empress gave your side a cautious bump with her fin, steely eyes squinted in knowing. You nodded in her direction as you walked and decided to try and steer the conversation in a brighter direction.
"Well, maybe we'll see one today! Maybe even more than one!" You offered, hoping that the promise of potential challengers would perk Emmet right back up.
"You don't know that," he muttered.
"I'm sorry?" You asked, not quite catching what he had said.
"You think we'll honestly get more challengers just because you're with me today?" Emmet quipped. This is exactly what you had feared; his sleeplessness was making him cranky.
"I never thought that, Em," you spoke smoothly so as to not potentially aggravate your boyfriend more. You persisted nevertheless, trying to keep things positive. "But you never know! Look at all the people today!" You gestured with one arm towards the masses of people that were bustling up and down the stairs, gathering in groups and boarding subway trains to make their ways to other surrounding cities. "We might see one or more of these folks with us today!"
"Or not," Emmet huffed. His Archeops was getting a tad antsy atop his shoulders, the claws on her hands digging into his cap.
"Or we might!" You quipped back cheerfully, giving his arm a slight nudge, only for him to quickly sidestep you.
"Why are you being so persistent?" He snapped, smile still pasted across his face, but his eyes aflame with annoyance. "You never know the outcome of the day, it's all random! So dial it down a bit!"
"Wha-" You were taken aback by his sudden miniature outburst, especially since there were still plenty of people around to point fingers, so you tried to keep your composure, but it was slipping just a bit. Nevertheless, you kept your voice down. "I'M the one that needs to dial it down? You're the one who needs to not project as much!"
"Yeah, yeah?" Emmet had finally had enough, just as you two were mere feet away from boarding his train, the doors to his chamber sliding open and stalling, waiting. He ushered your group into his car, away from the public eye, just as his voice reached peak volume. "Well, I think YOU'RE the one that needs to stop nosing deeper into MY business when I get like this!"
You and Emmet rarely fought, and it was never this bad. You always tried to play the pacifist, but today, you weren't taking that side, apparently. "You and I were BOTH looking forward to today, and now look at us! I wish you didn't HAVE to be like this, especially today!"
"Well I wish that you weren't here!"
Your breath and heart collectively stopped upon the utterance of those words. Your mouth dropped open slightly, and you backed up a few steps, causing the sliding doors to open themselves and stall once again. Emmet's chest was heaving slightly as he turned away in his moment of anger, lowering his cap over his eyes. Archeops gave you a pitied look, wishing she could say sorry, but only managing a sad "Rrrrrch." Empress patted the top of your head gently with the edge of her fin.
You tried to speak up, but only let out a pitiful hiccup as you turned around, making your way out the doors with your Pokemon in tow.
Just as the doors were about to start closing after a few tense seconds of silence, you heard a small but sharp gasp. You turned to face Emmet, silver eyes now glossed over with tears threatening to spill, with Archie frantically trying to mop any that fell down his face with her tail, but couldn't keep up when they eventually did start pouring down.
"Wait-" He couldn't get anything other than this one word out before his voice got choked up on his tears. He swiped a gloved hand across his cheeks before reaching a gentle yet shaking hand your way. "Wait, I-"
"I warned you about getting this way after not sleeping," you managed through your own tear-stalled voice. "But apparently the thrill of not having any challengers is stronger than my genuine concern for your safety."
And with that, you turned and walked out the doors, going nowhere in particular but wanting to get away from your boyfriend for just a while. Empress quickly marched behind you, following your lead to wherever you might take her.
"WAIT!" Emmet suddenly shrieked from behind the doors, prying them open when they had closed in his face and tried sprinting after you. Archie had launched herself from his shoulders in your direction to try and divert your attention, only for your Empoleon to turn and send a Bubble Beam in her direction to ward her off. Archie screeched and barely dodged the attack, considering it was super effective, only managing to get clipped by the final orb of water that made the feathers of her arm sag.
You heard the pained cries of Archie and Emmet, who was still calling for you, begging you to come back, as you boarded an adjacent train, which was headed for Driftveil City. You and the train started moving away from the station just as Emmet had reached the double doors, watching him reach a hand out to you as you sped off.
You knew both of you needed some time to recoup after that.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Once you had arrived in Driftveil, you and Empress decided to camp out by one of the many rivers that led out into the ports that transported shipments of food into Unova. You watched from your place on a grassy hill, arms around your legs, as the steely penguin dove in like a missile and zoomed around in circles, sending the occasional splash of water in your direction to try and cheer you up. It worked, but not entirely. You decided to Surf along Empress's back up and down the river a few times to clear your head of the hurtful words Emmet directed at you. Gym Leader Clay even came down to the river and offered up a Pecha Berry pie upon news of your visit, which you gratefully accepted, and you ended up sharing a slice with Empress as you gazed out at the boats that puffed steam out on the horizon.
Meanwhile, Emmet had been frantically dialing your Xtransceiver over the course of your departure, begging for you to pick up. Archie watched over his shoulder and let out a sad caw every time you didn't pick up. He had sped off to Ingo, demanding the schedule from a few hours ago about where the trains were departing to and when, trying to pinpoint where you could have possibly gone. After failing to track down your path, he returned to his office with Archie and his brother, his sobs echoing inside the tiny room while Ingo patted his shoulder and Archie nuzzled in his lap.
After a few hours of sulking, you both decided to call it quits for today, with Emmet praying that you'd be home and you praying that he'd leave you alone if he came back after you.
Fortunately, you ended up back at your shared home after a few hours of killing time in Driftveil via the impromptu surf and picnic escapade with Empress and a last-minute decision of challenging Clay's gym, which took you both down to your last Pokemon, but ended up declaring you the victor despite Empress's attacks being not very effective against his Seismitoad.
After trading out Empoleon for your Aerodactyl to use Fly back to Nimbasa, since you did not want to risk running into Emmet by taking the subway, you summoned them back into their ball and immediately made a break for your room after placing the pie into the fridge and gulping down a glass of water.
You slid under the covers, but not before calling out Empress one last time and asking if she'd stand guard in the room, to which you earned a nod and a banging of her fins as a response. Thanking her, you fully cozied up under the blankets and tried to doze off, but ended up being reminded and plagued by flashbacks of Emmet at the station; the terrifying smile that remained even as he screamed, the river of tears after you promptly abandoned him to Driftveil-
These nightmares summoned a crying fit of your own, but you didn't want to worry Empress anymore than you already may have. Instead, your tears came swift and silent, soaking the pillowcase under your cheek within a minute. Within a few minutes, however, you quickly fell asleep due to the mild dehydration from crying so much.
You were unsure of how much time had passed, but you were jolted awake by the sound of rustling keys, the front door closing and scratchy footsteps from both person and Pokemon.
Emmet was back.
"Darrrrling? You home?" You heard him call out, voice raspy from his own nonstop crying, followed by the sound of Archie letting out what sounded like a scratchy whine. You held back calling out to him, despite it being so tempting. You hated hearing Emmet when he was upset; it was like hearing a lost kitten calling to its mama, and you had to save it.
"Please be home, pleeeeease-" Your boyfriend's pleading was cut short by a sudden choking sound and a wet sob that turned into multiple sobs, with Archie trilling to try and comfort her Trainer. The cries could be heard moving throughout the house, and they eventually reached the door to your shared room, where they died down for just a moment; Emmet only letting out a whimper and a sniffle before he tested out the doorknob. It creaked open slightly.
Damn it, you forgot to lock it-
You bit your lip to hold back crying out for him right then and there, but you kept quiet, silently listening as the door fully opened and light filled the room, followed by Emmet going: "Oh, oh thank Arce- AH!" and Empress letting out a deep caw to try and ward him off. Archie audibly shook out her feathers as an impromptu screech and whine left her.
"W-wait, hold on Empress!" Emmet tried to reason with her as she pointed a sharpened fin in his direction, holding his empty hands up in the air, showing he meant no harm. "Can I just-" He stalled with a deep sigh and an audible gulp before continuing: "Can I just talk to them?"
The penguin trilled deep in her throat as she processed this before nodding curtly and gently nudged at you with the tip of her fin, rousing you from keeping quiet as she stepped towards the foot of the bed. You stirred before propping yourself up and turned your head to face your boyfriend, promptly lifting a blanket to cover the lower half of your face out of fear.
"H-heyyy!" Emmet's voice cracked and wavered at the sight before him. You hid your face further in the blanket, trying to block him out of your sight. "No, nononono don't do that, I-" he shuffled across the room, hands promptly reaching for you shakily, only to quickly retract. "I- I'm just glad you're okay, that you're-" His voice broke off again with a sniffle and a wipe of his cheek. "That you're home, that you decided to come BACK home after what happened."
"Mmhm," you half-mumbled, half-whined, noise muffled by the blanket still covering you. Empress warbled with a tinge of pity before spitting out a bubble, and Archie, who hadn't left her Trainer, scratched the claws of her feet against the carpet as she paced in place nervously by the door.
"I- I don't know if you'll forgive me, but-" he sent a glance in your direction, glossy silver eyes seemingly asking: "Can I?" You looked him up and down warily before nodding, giving him permission to come closer. He slipped the backpack from his shoulders before sliding his arms around your waist and burying his face in your chest, leaning over the edge of the bed and almost taking up the entirety of your lap.
"I am Emmet, and I-" Another voice crack. "I am verrrry sorry."
You don't know what it was, whether it be the way he phrased his apology, the tone of voice he had or a combination of both, it triggered your tear ducts to overflow as tears poured down not only your face, but Emmet's as well, for after he whined out his apology, you felt the bottom half of your shirt become slightly damp and heard muffled sobs into your chest. You let out a whimper yourself before beginning your own audible crying, clutching him closer, followed by him returning the gesture, arms coiling tighter.
"I- I forgive you Em," you choked out in a break from your crying. "I- I know you didn't mean what you s-said, I was just w-worried about you."
"Oh, thank you, dearrrr, I-" He removed his face from your chest and shoved it into the crook of your neck and shoulder. "I'm verrrry happy you said that! I got so worried when you ran awayyy! So mean of you!"
"I know, I know," you hiccuped, ruffling his mussed hair. "I didn't know what came over me, I was scared!"
A whine left Emmet as he hid his face further in your neck. "I'm sorrrrry! I'll never scare you like that again, I promise!"
"It's o-okay," you assured, giving his back a few strokes before patting him, a cue to sit up. "We made up and we're both home, that's what matters."
"Yep, yep!" Your boyfriend agreed, followed by a sniffle. Archie let out a happy caw and fluttered a few inches in the air, while Empress clapped the ends of her fins together, nodding in approval. You could almost see her smile.
"Now then!" Emmet suddenly piped up, standing bolt upright, a finger sticking straight up. "As a token of my apology, I've decided to let you pick what we do tonight, mhmm!"
"Oh, uh-" You scratched your head, pondering what you could occupy yourselves with before it hit you. "Ahh! When I was in Driftveil, Clay sent me home with some Pecha Pie! We could have some of that and watch a movie?"
"Ooh, yes yes!" Emmet nodded vigorously as he shook his fists at his sides. "With ice cream!"
You laughed, predicting that with all that sugar, he would either be bouncing around the room for the entirety of the movie or crash a third of the way through it. Either way, you wouldn't want anything better.
"Yes, okay, we'll have it with ice cream."
"YAYYY!" Your boyfriend was as giddy as he was with his Joltiks. He grabbed your wrist and tugged you out of bed, then out the door. "Come on, then! You get the goods and I'll get a movie going!"
You tried to keep up with Emmet, but he was dragging you around too fast, and you stumbled right into his back and onto the carpet in the living room, taking him down with you, where you both cackled before sighing contently and gave each other a hug on the floor.
"I loooove you, dear!" He emphasized this by lightly booping your nose with his.
You couldn't help but giggle.
"Same to you, Em."

I have this itching need to draw/write a certain Ingo/PLA AU that has been plaguing me for days. Reading fanfic, I've seen people comparing the warden position to that of a Gym Leader or something like that. I mean, if we're talking about Ingo's path of solitude, I get it. But most wardens aren't like that, even if they have pokemon as companions (Melli and Skuntank for example).
You know what they remind me of even more than a Gym Leader or something like that? Of a Pokemon Ranger.
See, this AU plaguing me can go two ways, which is why I haven't really gotten into drawing/writing anything for it yet.
The first option would be that Ingo returns to present time from Hisui and, still without his memories and not a clue on where he needs to go to reach home (I'm assuming that while he's popular in Nimbasa and Unova as a whole, the regions usually don't have interests on each other so it's not like Ingo could be easily recognized in, say, Sinnoh or Johto by everyone), he tries to reach for a lifestyle that feels comforting and familiar to him. And instead of being train related, it's kinda Hisui related as it's all he's known. In short, he becomes a Pokemon Ranger in Sinnoh or maybe Johto (undecided. Could be Johto since he tries to travel abroad to find his home but Unova is literally in the other side of the world of Sinnoh. Could be another region entirely).
Of course, Ingo eventually reunites with Emmet because I refuse any other outcome, but it does take some time. Probably some type of crisis that gets the rangers attention and gets them to act, so they call all the reinforcements they could to Unova to help out, which just happens to include Ingo.
Idk.
The second option would be that Celebi is involved. I remember playing a Pokemon Rangers game when I was a kid tho I never finished (it was a friend's, not mine so *shrugs*) where Celebi was a key part with the timeline mumbo jumbo. It would be something similar in here, just a bit more complex since Ingo keeps getting yeeted to the present and back to the past until the Rift problem is fixed.
He's still missing his memories, but the Interpol has been alerted that something is amiss. As in, Ingo has been in Hisui for some time already, but when the rift problem worsens, he ends up trapped into a distorsion. Celebi helps him out, but in turn they request his aid to fix this whole mess. Celebi promises to help Ingo home and let him stay there after the timeline is stable again, so he takes a more proactive role when it comes to the matters on Hisui while working with the rangers on the other side. The rift is affecting both points of the timeline, connecting them and threatening to unravel the flow of time, breaking it for good. It starts out with Ingo having information about what's going on in the present and he ends up as an honorary member of the rangers.
Heck, maybe as I keep thinking on it I'll come up with something completely different. Still. I really wanna see Ingo in a Pokemon Ranger outfit.

Creepy-Crawly
cw: coraline au based but different, poly (Ingo/Reader, Emmet/Reader), a bit horror-esque but over all fluffy, monster bf stuff
Moving into the rural home far from Nimbasa was supposed to be a change from the busy environment offered by the bright lights of the city. Ingo had spoken dearly of his childhood hometown, blabbing about the trains and quiet atmosphere. You knew there was another reason that seemingly was inescapable from his lips. It was no secret how much he desired to be a father, so the easy presumption was simply of his want to start a family.
The home was dated, clearly a familial house that needed some care and love into it. Yet, when you sneaked a gaze at Ingo, you saw a slight smile tugging at his lips alongside a sparkle in his eyes. Something about this placed called to him, you could tell. He missed it. The slight decrepitness of the home could be overlooked in the pursuit of happiness for the lonely man. Ingo had never been one with many friends or attention, often holding a reserved nature and hiding most of himself away. Elesa had seemingly only been his closest companion outside of you.
Maybe all of his friends were here.
You hoped he would brighten up more, preferring the softer and caring man that lurked just under the surface of his frowning face.
Setting up in the home had been easy, watching Ingo disappear in the early hours of the morning to come home late and pass out was not. You stroked his hair as he laid in the bed with concern. Yet, all your fears and worries were shoved to the wayside as a day off came, and you both explored your new home like children. Coming across a strange, small door, you called out for Ingo. His eyes went wide at it, and he knelt down. Trying the doorknob, it was locked. You both let out a disappointed sigh. Until something struck Ingo. He politely excused himself to dig around the drawer in the kitchen before returning with a keyring.
The key met the lock, and it turned. Disappointment rang out again. Behind it was a brick wall. Nothing of apparent interest. Ingo shook his head and closed the door. “Ah, well, that was a bust,” he sighed, “Let's get started on dinner… Or I will, how about you relax? I want to make up for all the work you've done for me.” You giggled at him. His usual sweetness returned.
It was another fall after that day. He ended up stuck in Nimbasa for days. You were alone in your large home. There was only so many times one could clean or tend to a dying garden before they went insane. You crashed against the couch with a groan. Why did this keep happening? You needed to talk, but somehow it always slipped your mind. Endless background noise poured from the television. You didn't care; you wanted him.
Maybe staying in Nimbasa would have been for the best. Then you would have Ingo home. You felt a sob leave your throat as tears burned your eyes. Why did you feel so alone? Were you both lonely people relying on each other? You curled into yourself and sobbed until you drifted off.
Waking up, you felt a strange lightness in the air. It almost felt too thin. You fell off your couch and watched as a strange arachnid crawled across the floor to the small door. It chirped a few times before squeezing underneath it. You felt dangerously curious. Creeping to it yourself, you place a hand on the doorknob. It was… Warm.
It felt alive.
You turned it and pulled it back. On the other side was no longer an empty brick wall but a shifting, pulsing colourful tunnel. You felt criminally curious and crawled in. The material of the tunnel were indescribable, but you would dare to say it was oddly flesh-like. Everything felt hypnotising and alight. You reached the other side and saw it. Another door, completely identical to the other. You opened it.
On the other side…
Was a nicer version of your home.
You gazed at your changed living room in wonder. This must be a dream, bringing to life what you wanted in reality. You closed the door behind you and flinched as footsteps echoed closer.
“… You're here early,” he cooed. You turned around to see him.
He looked just as Ingo did, but with strange, entirely purple eyes. They blinked as you struggled to find words. He giggled at your reaction. “Confused? I know you are!” His hand was held out to you, “I'm your other husband!”
The night was suddenly fantastical. Emmet, his name, was much more playful than Ingo and active. He smiled as you cooked and complimented you. There was a dance with you in the living while impossible, gorgeous lights floated about. Affection was lavished over you until you finally fell asleep once more. Emmet laid with an arm wrapped around your side.
Soon, when you awoke again, he was replaced by cold air. You were in your bed. Alone. Tears burned your eyes.
Talk to Ingo. You needed to talk to him.
He picked up the phone by the third ring.
“Hello? What is it, dearest?” he yawned into the phone.
“… I had a dream about you,” you whispered into the line.
“… I'll be home soon, I promise,” he explained.
“It wasn't you exactly…” you told him.
“I see,” a deep breath was heard, “Well, it doesn't matter. I'm certain it was just an odd dream.”
You were inclined to agree with how odd everything had been. It felt ridiculous calling him to tell him about it. He was probably annoyed with you, too…
“… I hope it was a nice dream,” he suddenly said, “I have to go now, but I'll call you on my lunch break if I manage one.”
You felt better all of a sudden. A cheerful parting was given.
Nothing happened for the entire day. You kept to your usual activities and tried to ignore the creeping feelings on your mind. A fake, happier Ingo. An Ingo who was more active… It had to be a dream. He sometimes asked consent before he even just hugged you. That Emmet had been far too forward to compare to Ingo. You felt giggly at the thought of conjuring up your own better version of your boyfriend.
He even… You sighed as a hand drifted downwards in bed.
You woke up again late into the night as that same bright yellow arachnid crept around near you. It soon scuttled away as you sat up. Before you knew it, you were on your feet after it. Once more, it crawled under the door. Before you knew it, you found yourself back in the other world with a version of your boyfriend at your side. Emmet smiled at you brightly, his odd eyes catching the light beautifully. It felt strange with how happy you were to see him once more, but Ingo's words about hoping that it had been a happy dream echoed in your head.
Emmet suddenly brought you close, hugging you to him tightly. “He's busy, isn't he?”
“Who's busy?” you questioned.
“Heehee, my little spider friend,” he pointed to the yellow fluff creating a web with your face in it. You sighed. Why were you scared? This place calmed you, if anything. Leaning into him, you hummed.
He soon excitedly brought you out in the garden near your house, completely different from the desolate one in reality. Bright foliage grew healthily and beautifully, catching your mind with some of the most unnatural colours and glowing proclivities you had seen. Everything swelled in your mind, Emmet dragged you around with the certain energy a child might have. You followed along happily.
Another dance came in the garden, a centre area of smooth cobblestone under your feet as he spun you wildly. In a dip with the swell of an unseeable orchestra, his lips met yours. You nearly cried at the words mouthed against you.
“You're perfect…”
Waking up in your bed once more, you were greeted by a text that Ingo would be returning that evening. You shook off the odd sleepiness and removed yourself from the bed. Ignored was the white lily lying on the pillow next to yours. A spider watched carefully from a web in the corner of the room, purple eyes seeing all. The day was spent in anticipation of Ingo's arrival. Cleaning the house which was not that messy, honestly, and cooking a dinner for him was done by when the door finally opened around eight.
You greeted him with a kiss to his cheek, and he held you close for a moment. Dinner was held together with a light conversation about his work and what you had done during his absence. Tomorrow was a day off from work for him, so you were happy to have your boyfriend to yourself once more. He took a long bath while you crept to the tiny door.
Opening it, you laughed dryly.
Brick wall.
“Dearest, what are you doing?” Ingo's voice called out from the hall leading to your bedroom.
“… My dreams took my into here,” you told him more. He tilted his head.
“Ah, I suppose something like that would be heavy on your subconscious,” he strolled forward to knock on the brick, “Admittedly, I recall it being open as a child.”
“Did a relative do this?” you asked.
“More than likely,” Ingo offered before standing up, “… Do you mind if we – Erm-” His eyes drifted to the floor, to which you giggled. Taking his hand, you gave a silent agreement to his wish. The night was spent in each other's arms, wrapped in sheets. Nearby, the lily sat in a vase of water.
In the night, you awoke, but Ingo was gone. You knew what was happening again. Silently, you made your way to and through the door and into the other home. Different, however, was the number of people. Two of them stood in conversation with one another at the table, unaware of your appearance. They both faced away from you, but from all their other features, you could tell they were identical. You hid yourself carefully and listening in on their conversation.
Both Emmet's and Ingo's voices spoke, distinct yet similar.
“… How much longer?” Emmet whined and rested his head in his hand.
“I do not know,” Ingo replied, “Leaving gifts, now?”
“I'm a better lover than you, brother,” he giggled, a wide smile splitting his face, “Do you think they won't wake up without you there?”
“… Introducing you is difficult, especially when you choose to do so yourself,” Ingo retaliated, head turning to gaze at the small door. You felt your heart stop. Those same purple eyes laid on his face, but smaller and above his normal ones. “…” Emmet turned his head at his brother's unexpected silence. For a moment, the room held not a single noise. You swore your body had gone stiff from how you refuse to move. Ingo suddenly walked across the room carefully. His eyes landed on you as he approached the door.
“… Dearest,” he spoke softly, holding a hand out to you, “Please don't be alarmed by how I look.” You let out a sharp exhale as you noted the sharpened teeth in his mouth. Emmet rushed over, too. “Uh-oh,” he said simply.
“What is going on?” you managed to get out as you stood tall. Emmet leaned over his brother's shoulder, more eyes on his face in a manner that they might lie on a Galvantula's own.
“… I am a spider creature and this is my twin brother,” he said like it was an everyday announcement he might make at the station, “I wanted to introduce you to him alongside the possibility of being his mate as well as mine.”
You supposed that made sense, but what in the world was all of this.
“We eat people,” Emmet suddenly chimed in, “Not you! You're special. We still eat people, though.”
You readied yourself for a long discussion about everything.
The home slowly shifted more and more into an odd spider web, while Emmet lost the illusion of a normal human lower half. It was quite apparent who was more of the spider creature. Ingo explained the whirlwind love story of his parents, a man getting caught in a spider woman's web and starting a family. Then Ingo explained how he set out to find a suitable mate for himself and Emmet before returning with you.
Part of you was offended he never told you any of this, but another part acknowledged that you simply would not have believed him. Leaning back against the couch, you gazed at Emmet, who was redoing a part of the web. He wasn't that bad, you felt. You definitely liked him, but you also turned to Ingo, who say in a nearby chair.
“… Where do I live then?” you finally asked, accepting both of them as partners.
“Here.”
“Wherever you prefer.”
“No, brother, they stay here. I want them in my web, so I can protect them,” Emmet whined while scuttling towards you.
Ingo shook his head, “We own both properties, and it's a waste of magic for you to make this place more hospitable for them.”
“No, they'll just stay here,” he motioned to the extremely empty room around you.
“I prefer both,” you agreed with Ingo, “Unless you can make this place nicer regularly.”
Emmet whined.
~
You sighed as you laid down on the soft spider tummy. Ingo had got caught up in work again, leaving you to only be comforted by Emmet. He had really taken to his job, despite only using it to meet potential mates originally. The bed underneath you was comfortable alongside the warmth of your covers.
“… Mmm, I hope he brings home prey thus time.”
“Emmet, what?” you rose up from your laying position.
“Nothing,” he cooed, “I love you, sleep well.”
You did, in fact, not sleep well that night.

in my last post, I kind of mentioned that I planned on continuing the Warden's twins after the endings have taken place. While I love both Endings, they both have a bittersweet note to them, in the end, no matter what the twins and Ingo get broken up and sent back to their own times. they can't keep existing together in the same timeline. Ingo basically loses his kids and while yeah the twins do lose their dad again, they have their Uncle, and as the timeline goes they grow up to be okay. but Ingo is left kind of with a hole in his heart and his brother is left to worry about him. But where one story ends another can begin. and there are characters I'd kind of like to explore more and others that could use a redemption of sorts. For now, I'm just going to call this continuation Subway Boss's Kids.
Volo ends up cursed by Acreus with immortality, he's lived through wars and seen others try and enact his plan only to fail just as he had. he'd lived more than a lifetime of regret, trying to come up with a plan to make up for his past actions and yet he had no idea where to start.
that is until he hears about the disappearance of one of Nimbasa City's subway bosses.
Arceus had been cruel to him, living him undying. but even the God had admitted that it had been cruel in the end when all those displaced through time and space had to be returned. and if there was one surefire way to prove to Akari that he wanted to make up for what he had done, it was to help the Uncle she had met in Hisui.
It was Giratina who had given him the idea, the dragon seeking to correct its own mistakes. 'If a Pokémon such as Mewtwo could be cloned from nothing more than a fossil, could the same be done with a human if one was able to use a direct sample of blood?'
Well, it was worth a try. using the research notes from the scientist who created Mewtwo and the blood sample Giratina proved, Volo Managed to create two clones of the twins in the four years Ingo had been missing.
He named them Kudari and Nobori (or at least until I think of something better)
Tumblr media
the two were far from a perfect copy of the two the Ex-Warden has pulled away from. a glitch in the machinery caused their ages to be offset by one year, causing what should have been the youngest to end up being the oldest. for fear of something else going wrong, he was forced to remove them and allowed them to age naturally. (he has no idea why one of them has a blue eye but he assumes it might be a recessive gene ).
Kurdari ends up being 5 and Nobori is only 4, rather than the ten Volo had hoped for.
He wouldn't be able to return what was lost perfectly but at least he will have some part of his boys with him.
When Ingo returns, Volo invites him, Emmet, and Akari to the region he's staying in and introduces them. almost preparing for rejection, but doesn't expect the huge he gets from Ingo.
the group goes its separate ways, Ingo demanding Volo's number so he can stay in touch with the boys. and Volo decides that he was happiest when he was learning about history and chooses to travel the globe to learn about different things, with Akari at his side (so she can watch him) stopping by Unova to see the boys in person and tells them stories about his travels.
and things become a little more Slice of Life from here.

Lost and Found
Chapter 1
About two years after returning from Hisui, Ingo finds a little girl lost in the subway. He and Emmet do everything they can to find her parents, but when it starts to look like a case of abandonment, Ingo realizes he might need to step in for this girl.
Aka this is a highly self indulgent story of Ingo adopting a daughter. This also includes little snippets of Emmet x Piers because it's my story and I say they're cute.

Ingo stood at the platform, directing passengers and announcing the arrival of the trains. He checked the time. 1:45 on the dot. Things were going just as scheduled. The lunch rush was thankfully calming down now as people returned to work or school, which meant there were now fewer crowds and less noise in the subway. After being in Hisui for five years, Ingo had gotten used to the quiet outside. He was glad to be home, of course, but he now required soft foam earbuds to drown out the noises of Nimbasa City.
Another train came and went, leaving the platform mostly empty. A few people still milled about, but they all seemed to be in no hurry. However, with the clearer view of the platform, Ingo was now able to see a very small and very upset little girl. And she was making her way right towards him.
Ingo bent down on one knee to be more at eye level with the girl as she approached. She was sniffling and crying, so Ingo quickly pulled a tissue out of one of the pockets in his jacket.
"Young lady, what seems to be troubling you?" he asked gently.
"I-I can't find my... p-parents..." the girl responded in a shaky, teary voice.
"I see. Do you know how long it's been since you were separated? And where did you become uncoupled from them?"
The little girl rubbed at her eyes and blew her nose with the tissue Ingo handed her before answering.
".....It was a little while ago... when the crowds were here... and I got separated from them here. I didn't get on any trains or leave this room."
Ingo nodded along. "Well, that was very smart of you to stay where you were. This should help us track down your parents. I am Subway Boss Ingo, and I will make sure you are reunited with them soon." The little girl smiled at that.
"Thanks Mr. Ingo. And my name is Rosie."
"Rosie. That's a lovely name. And how old are you, Miss Rosie?"
"I'm six years old. Almost seven."
"And you were here with both your parents?"
"Yes, Mommy and Daddy. We came here to go to the amusement park."
Ingo nodded as he mentally took note of all this. A six year old girl has been separated from her parents while on their way to the amusement park. This happened most likely during the lunch rush between 11:30 am and 1:30 pm, leaning more towards a later time considering the parents haven't returned yet.
"Alright. I'm going to let the other depot agents know about this and to be on the look out for your parents." Rosie nodded and Ingo stood up. He reached into his pocket and pulled out the radio that every subway employee used to communicate.
"Attention, this is Subway Boss Ingo. I am currently on platform number 2 for the A train. I have a missing girl with me named Rosie. She is six years old, has freckles, brown hair tied into pigtails, and she is currently wearing a pink vest over a white shirt with a brown skirt. She is missing her mother and father, so if any couples approach you looking for a child of that description, please contact me immediately. Thank you." There was a chorus of affirmations from the depot agents along with a clear "Understood!" from his brother Emmet. Ingo then turned back to Rosie.
"Everyone in the subway now knows that you're looking for your parents. I will stay with you to make sure you are safe. Passenger safety is one of my top priorities, so you have no need to worry with me."
"Thanks Mr. Ingo!" Rosie wrapped her arms around his waist in a hug. Ingo gently patted her head and smiled faintly.
"How about we find a bench to sit at while we wait." Rosie nodded and Ingo took her hand as he guided them both over to a nearby bench.
Together they sat silently, and Ingo tried to think of some sort of conversation to help distract the young girl. As another train pulled up to the station and let more passengers off, he noticed Rosie covering her ears. The trains could be fairly loud at times, especially to anyone that wasn't already used to them, and the crowd was pretty loud as well.
"Rosie, is it too loud here?" he asked as he tried to keep his voice down to not add to the cacophony.
"Yeah, a little," she admitted. Ingo pulled the box of black foam earbuds out of pocket from his jacket. He then pointed to the pair already in his own ears.
"It gets a little too loud for me here as well. You can have a pair of earbuds to soften the volume." Rosie smiled and took a pair of earbuds. After placing them in her ears, she tilted her head to listen for a moment, testing them out.
"Hey, they work! It isn't as bad now and I can still hear stuff! Thanks Mr. Ingo!"
"You're welcome, Miss Rosie."
They lapsed back into silence as they waited. Rosie kicked her legs back and forth as she looked around for any sign of her parents.
"What do your parents look like?" Ingo asked, hoping to help spot them.
"Well, Mommy has long brown hair kinda like mine," Rosie began explaining. "She has brown eyes too, and today she's wearing a blue dress and a black jacket. Daddy has short black hair, and he has freckles like I do. He's wearing a gray shirt with buttons and black pants." Ingo nodded as he took note of this. As he scanned the room, he couldn't immediately see anyone that fit those descriptions. He quickly typed that all out in his phone and sent the message along to the depot agents and Emmet in hopes that that will help them.
"Thank you, Miss Rosie. I just sent those descriptions to my coworkers so that they'll be on the look out for your parents as well." Rosie nodded, then continued looking around.
Some more time passed, and Rosie looked like she was starting to get tired and more uncomfortable.
"...Mr. Ingo?" Rosie said quietly. "I'm hungry."
"Ah, yes! Have you had lunch yet?" he asked.
"I had a pretzel before I got separated," Rosie replied. Oh Arceus, this child hasn't eaten in at least an hour!
"I can take you to the break room! We have many different foods there that I'm sure you'll like. We can refuel there! All aboard!" He stood, doing his usual pointing pose, which luckily got Rosie to smile. He then held her hand and guided her to the nearest break room. As he walked, he made another short message over the radio, announcing their change in location while asking for any updates. Unfortunately, there were none, but he didn't let this drag him down.
Once in the break room, Ingo started looking through the cabinets and the fridge for anything a child might like to eat. There were instant ramen packets, a few bagged lunches marked with employees' names (those were off limits), and some lunch meats, cheeses, and bread for sandwiches, along with chips and cookies for snacks. But for now, Rosie needed something more substantial.
"Well, it appears we need to restock soon, but we have ramen and supplies for sandwiches," he said. "We have sliced turkey and ham, along with cheese slices."
"Can I have a ham sandwich with cheese? Please?" Rosie asked politely.
"Of course. Have a seat at the table and I can make one for you," Ingo replied as he took off his white gloves. "And we do have some water and apple juice to drink. Which would you prefer?"
"Apple juice please!" Rosie said excitedly. Ingo handed her a juice box and she sat down to drink it.
Ingo then pulled up his sleeves to wash his hands at the sink. Safety first. It was then that Rosie noticed the bracelet on his arm.
"What's that?" she asked, pointing at it. Ingo looked to where she was pointing. It was the warden bracelet from the Pearl Clan with the image of Lady Sneasler carved into the wood. He insisted that he return it to Lady Irida before returning home with Emmet, but she had simply told him to keep it as a memento. Besides, they could always make another when they found a new warden for Lady Sneasler. And this way, Ingo felt like he would always be Lady Sneasler's warden.
"Ah, this is a bracelet I had received from a previous... adventure," he replied. "I was in charge of taking care of a powerful and strange Pokemon named Lady Sneasler. This bracelet showed that I was her warden."
"Wow, I've never heard of that kind of Pokemon!" Rosie exclaimed. "What was she like? What type was she?"
"She was a fighting and poison type. She was the evolution of a regional variant of Sneasel," Ingo explained. "However, this was a long time ago. Sadly, Sneaslers have... gone extinct." It was a sad fact that tore him apart after he returned home. He has since accepted this fact, but it still kept him awake at night sometimes. Could he have done anything to ensure that her species continued? Did he not do enough for her and her children? Or was this a predetermined fate that he had no hope of changing? He usually tried not to think about it too much.
"Oh... I'm sorry," Rosie said quietly.
"There's no need to apologize. Sometimes that's just how nature works." Ingo put on a small smile to try and ease Rosie's worries. He quickly dried his hands and got to work making them both a sandwich. He was starting to get hungry too after all.
It didn't take long for the sandwiches to be made. It actually took longer for Ingo's coffee to brew. But soon, they were both sitting and eating quietly. He had also loaded up Rosie's plate with a few chips, and he promised her that she would receive a cookie after she ate her sandwich.
Soon, Emmet came into the room. Rosie looked up at him, then she looked at Ingo as she seemed to realize they were twins. They no longer looked exactly alike, but Emmet had been determined to fix that by growing his own beard. It was still rather short, and it looked like more of an inverse of Ingo's beard with Emmet's growing more to point up towards his mouth with Ingo's pointed down, but it sort of fit their "opposite yet matching" aesthetic.
"Emmet, any news on Rosie's parents?" Ingo asked.
"No, not yet. But we are still looking. I've also contacted the local police to see if maybe they're lost in the city somewhere," Emmet replied. "But I came to meet Rosie myself. I was curious."
Ingo nodded and watched as Emmet walked over and held out a hand to Rosie.
"I am Subway Boss Emmet! Ingo and I are twins. It is nice to meet you!" Rosie shook his hand and smiled shyly.
"I'm Rosie. It's nice to meet you too," she said.
"I promise we will find your parents," Emmet assured her. "Ingo was missing once too. For five years. And yet I still found him and brought him home!" Rosie turned to look at Ingo in shock.
"Five years?" she asked. Ingo nodded.
"Yes. A legendary Pokemon took me and sent me through time and space for some unknown reason. We suspect it was during a confused frenzy. That's where I got this bracelet," Ingo said as he motioned to his warden's bracelet. "But yes, if anyone can find your parents, it will be my brother and I."
"Thank you! Thank you Mr. Ingo and Mr. Emmet!" Both brothers tipped their caps and smiled as a "you're welcome".
"So, Ingo, I assume you will not be manning the Singles line until Rosie's parents are found, right?" Emmet asked.
"Correct. I will be staying with her to ensure her safety until then," Ingo confirmed. "Which also means I will not be there for any battles on the Multi line either."
"That's disappointing but understandable," Emmet said flatly. "I will continue to run the Doubles line for now and I'll make an announcement to any possible challengers about the Singles and Multi lines."
"Understood." With that, Emmet bowed slightly to Rosie.
"It was a pleasure meeting you, Rosie. You are in safe hands with my brother. I will continue to keep an eye out for your parents now."
"Thank you, Mr. Emmet. And it was nice meeting you too," Rosie said. With a smile and a tip of his hat, Emmet walked off.
"So, you're both Subway Bosses?" Rosie asked.
"Yes. Emmet and I were luckily both chosen for the position years ago because of how well we work together," Ingo replied. It also gave us the chance to create the Multi Battle train line as part of the Battle Subway. In a multi battle, both Emmet and I face against two opponents. It's a 2 vs 2 battle where everyone each has one Pokemon out at a time. It's challenging because you not only need to know how to work with your Pokemon to fight against an opponent, but you also need to know how to work with your partner against a pair of opponents. If you're not in sync with your partner, you will fail. And Emmet and I are very much in sync with each other. We rarely lose."
"Woah, that's so cool!" Rosie was practically bouncing in her seat. "I can't wait until I can get my first Pokemon! I'll have to come back and battle you when I'm older!"
"I look forward to that battle," Ingo said with chuckle. "So, do you have a certain type of Pokemon in mind for your starter?"
"I don't know. Hmm..." Rosie held a hand up to her chin in thought.
"Would you like to meet my first Pokemon? Maybe that will give you an idea of what you want from your starter." Rosie gasped and her face lit up.
"Yes please! Yes, yes, yes!" She bounced eagerly in her chair.
Ingo chuckled and took out a pokeball from a jacket pocket. He released Chandelure, who trilled happily, then turned to Rosie. She stared in shock and awe.
"This is Chandelure," Ingo said, a hint of pride in his voice. "My first Pokemon. I got her when she was just a Litwick. She's a ghost and fire type. Chandelure, this is Rosie. I'm keeping her company for the time being." Chandelure trilled and floated over to Rosie.
"Hi there. Um, I'm Rosie." Ingo could see that Rosie was a little nervous, so he gently took one of her hands and held it out towards Chandelure.
"It's alright, Miss Rosie. Just hold your hand out like this. When approaching any new Pokemon, you want to let them come to you. But holding your hand out like this can show them you mean no harm."
Rosie nodded and Chandelure floated closer to her. Gently, Rosie started to pet Chandelure's head. She smiled and Chandelure trilled contently.
"It's nice to meet you, Chandelure," Rosie said quietly. Chandelure nuzzled against Rosie's hand in response. Ingo smiled faintly.
"It seems like Chandelure likes you," Ingo said. Chandelure proved this by floating even closer to nuzzle against Rosie's chest. Rosie slowly wrapped her arms around Chandelure and softly pet the Pokemon.
For a while, they sat there quietly. Rosie just continued to pet Chandelure and Ingo sat beside them with a small smile. Soon, Chandelure started to fall asleep, so Ingo returned her to her pokeball.
"Bye Chandelure," Rosie whispered to the pokeball. "And thank you for showing me your Pokemon, Mr. Ingo."
"You're welcome, Miss Rosie," he said with a slight tip of his hat. "I'm always happy to show off my team, and to teach others more about any Pokemon they are unfamiliar with." Rosie nodded, then after a moment, she looked to the cabinet.
"Also, I ate my sandwich and my chips. Can I have a cookie now please?"
Ingo let out a small chuckle, then stood up to get out the cookie jar.
Hours passed, and still nothing. They spent most of their time in the break room, since it was quiet and away from any crowds. Towards dinnertime, Ingo prepared some ramen in the microwave for both of them. Depot agents came and went as the time went on, and none of them had any updates about Rosie's parents. Ingo was starting to worry. And poor little Rosie was starting to get tired.
Eventually, Ingo carried Rosie out of the break room. She was starting to doze off and there was no way she could spend the night in the subway. So he called Emmet to meet him at the platform where he first found Rosie.
It was close to 8:00 at night. The platform was nearly empty, except for a few depot agents, janitors, the few remaining passengers preparing to go home for the night, and Emmet.
"Still nothing?" Ingo asked as he approached his brother while carrying the dozing child. Emmet shook his head.
"No, nothing. The police are still searching the city, but they said tomorrow they'll expand their search past Nimbasa," Emmet explained.
"So, where do we take her? She needs a place to stay for the night," Ingo mused. "Would it be alright if I took her home?"
"I'll let Piers know about this," Emmet said as he pulled out his Xtransceiver. "I'll let him know about the situation, and maybe he can have the couch prepared for her by the time you get there."
"I have him prepare the couch for me," Ingo told him. "She can take my bed tonight. I don't mind a night on the couch."
"Hmm, fair enough." Emmet then started to type away on his Xtrans. "I'll stay here and finish the last of the night's safety checks. Go ahead and get Rosie home. I'll be there later tonight."
"Understood." The two brothers nodded to each other, then Ingo turned to leave as Emmet resumed typing.
As he walked, Rosie shifted a little in his arms. She clung tighter to him, most likely due to the chilly night air. Ingo picked up his pace.
"...Mr. Ingo? Where are we going?" Rosie asked sleepily.
"I am sorry to say that we have not found your parents yet, and it is getting very late. We are going to continue our search, but for tonight, you can stay with me. Is that alright?" She nodded and curled up closer to him. He tried to wrap his coat more around her as he walked.
They soon got home. Ingo didn't exactly have the time or the hands available to dig through his pockets for his keys to unlock the door, so he simply knocked. Piers, his brother-in-law, answered the door. As soon as he saw Rosie, he ushered Ingo inside.
"Emmet told me everything. Poor girl," Piers said quietly.
Marnie, Piers' sister, was setting up the couch with Ingo's pillow and a blanket.
"I have a spare nightgown that she can borrow," Marnie spoke up.
"Oh, thank you, Marnie." Ingo then turned to Rosie. "Miss Rosie, I hate to wake up, but we've arrived at our station. This is Piers and Marnie. We're all here to help you."
Rosie looked up and rubbed at her eyes. Piers waved and smiled to her. Marnie waved as well.
"Would you like to borrow one of my nightgowns?" Marnie asked. "I doubt sleeping in your regular clothes will be very comfortable." Rosie nodded and Ingo carefully set her down. Marnie then led Rosie to her bedroom to help her change.
"...She's been with you all day?" Piers asked once the girls were out of the room. Ingo nodded as he cracked his back.
"Since just after the lunch rush. Just before 2:00," Ingo replied. "We've searched the subway and the police have searched all of Nimbasa. Emmet made sure to have the police start to expand their search tomorrow."
"What kind of parents leave their child and don't think to come back for her," Piers mumbled bitterly. "I don't like the look of this one bit, mate."
"I know. I'm starting to worry. But we have to remain hopeful for Rosie's sake." Piers just nodded in response.
Soon enough, Marnie and Rosie came back out of Marnie's room. Rosie was now wearing a plain light pink nightgown, that was just a little too big for her. The one shoulder was dropping and it was awfully long on her, but it did the job as a pair of loaned pajamas.
"Miss Rosie, we have made arrangements for you to stay in my room for the night. I will sleep on the couch. Come, I'll show you where my room is." Rosie just nodded as she took Ingo's hand and waved to Marnie and Piers.
Ingo led her to his room and he flicked on the light. Rosie made a beeline for the bed as soon as she saw it. She laid down and almost immediately closed her eyes. She looked exhausted.
"Good night, Miss Rosie," Ingo said quietly. "And if you need anything at all, please don't hesitate to come get me."
"...Mm'kay...... night night, Mr. Ingo..." Rosie mumbled. Ingo smiled a little, then quickly grabbed his own pajamas, turned out the light, and left the room. He closed the door, leaving it open just a crack so some light could seep in from the hallway, then he went to the bathroom to change clothes and brush his teeth.
Once that was done, he walked back downstairs to the living room where Piers and Marnie were sitting.
"How's she doing?" Piers asked.
"She seems to be holding up well enough," Ingo replied tiredly. "I've been able to distract her and keep her entertained today, and as soon as she laid down in my bed, she was already starting to fall asleep. But I am worried about how she'll feel tomorrow, especially if we can't find her parents soon."
"How old is she?" Marnie asked.
"Only six years old," Ingo said with a sigh.
"I wonder how far her parents got before realizing she was missing," Piers mused.
"I don't know. I can only hope we find them soon."

A Paralysis of the Mind - 1
Three days after his sudden return to Nimbasa, Ingo is desperate to regain the memories of the things important to him. Like Emmet. And trains. It doesn't help that he may have sustained a brain injury after falling out of the sky for a second time, or that modern society has become a mystery, but Elesa is there to help.
However inadvisable that may be.
---
“Ingo.”
The lights of the tunnels were passing him by, shining, shining, flashing across his face and through his eyes, an endless stream of burning starlight. Like he had seen. Like the Hisuian skies. Like the light of Arceus blistering through him.
“Ingo.”
He still had his Pearl Clan uniform. It was a reminder of everything he could scrape up being through, and a sorrow of the things that would still never come to mind. Each flash of light brought a picture of a world he half-understood, but he knew now it was his fate to remain in the haze of being forever lost, wherever he was.
“Ingo!”
Ingo snapped out of his trance. Elesa was next to him, pushing him backwards and forwards in a semi-shake by means of his shoulder. “Ah, sorry,” he managed, blinking.
“Don’t be sorry, silly! It’s just… we’re nearly at Gear Station.”
Ingo blinked again. Elesa leaned in.
“That means it’s time to get off,” she said, in her best impression of a teacher’s voice.
Ah. Getting off. That’s something you do on trains, you get off them when you’ve gotten to where you needed to go. It’s been three days now and he’s still getting used to things, you see, getting used to modern technology. Getting used to Elesa. Getting used to… everything.
He had returned from Hisui with half his Hisuian memories intact and a fat pile of nothing for the time and space he was supposed to be a native inhabitant of. He didn’t know why. He knew he had met Arceus on the way back through, he knew he had begged to remember the man in white who had liked winning more than anything else, those strange things called trains he knew existed in his mind, and then…
And then…?
“Hello? Earth to Ingo?”
“Right!” Ingo accidentally shouted, standing straight up and pointing, and probably would have looked quite sharp doing so had he not still been wearing his tragic Hisui-weathered excuse for a coat. “We get off the train when it stops at Gear Station! Full speed ahead!!”
Elesa facepalmed a little. “Yes, yes we do.” She paused, waiting for him to do something. “That means move! Now!”
She grabbed his wrist and started to pull him off the train, but he was slow to respond, like a part of his brain didn’t quite work as well as it used to. She’s halfway to the exit when the doors snap shut in front of both of them, trapping them there for the time being. “Darnit,” she muttered, under her breath. “Are you sure you’re ready to be out and about? You’re really… um… just really…”
“Not like I used to be,” Ingo finished.
Elesa averted her gaze. “… Yeah,” she admitted, voice weak with the shame of saying so. “Maybe we shouldn’t have taken the train.”
Ingo somehow figured out he should sit back down as the train jerked back into motion, although at least had the good sense to sit nearby the doors. “No! I need to remember what a train is. I need to remember everything about them! It’s important!”
“Of course… I’m sure it would be…” Elesa sighed, though she didn’t sound particularly thrilled. “Just, you have plenty of time to do this, right? You know, when you’re a little more… with it?”
Perhaps. He looked up steadily into Elesa’s worried eyes, tracing them as she bobbed and moved where she stood in tow with the suspension. He wracked his brain. He wracked his memory. He reached into the furthest depths of his subconscious mind, yearning to know something about this woman that wasn’t simply what he had gleaned in the past couple of days. The air of intense familiarity commanded him.
But no such memories became clear.
“… Elesa,” Ingo managed, trying the name on his tongue. “I want to remember the trains. I want to remember more about Emmet. I want to remember who I even am in this world.”
He paused, still staring haphazardly into her eyes.
“I want to remember you.”

Nimbasa City Warden - Part 20
Emmet was pacing back and forth in his room, wringing his hands together, worried eyes staring blankly at the floor as he wrung his hands together. Elesa had popped her head and told Emmet that Ingo was getting checked in because of the attack from the wyrdeer. This was about an hour ago, and Emmet was anxious.
Jermy had been arrested, and the wyrdeer had to be tranquilized, apparently. If it weren’t for the last-second save from Ingo’s friends from Hisui…
Emmet stopped in his tracks and gripped the sides of his head.
He would have lost Ingo all over again and this time, there was no chance of getting him back.
There was a knock on the door. Emmet looked up, expecting a doctor or a nurse. Instead, a man about his age wearing a white shirt and a red-orange vest with a red and tan hat. The blonde man looked at Emmet, then sheepishly closed the door behind him.
Emmet recognized him now. About sixteen years ago, it was this trainer that had walked Ingo into the engine car of the train he was operating on that day- his hand was bleeding after getting bit by a zoroark. It was a brief exchange, and he didn’t see him again after that… but it occurred to him that this was one of the ones that was looking out for Ingo and helped him return home.
He swallowed the lump in his throat. “Have you heard anything?”
The man nodded, “He’s stable. He’ll live.” he said. “He’s going to be asleep for a while- he was pretty banged up by the time Alaina and I had reached him.” he said, “He got hit by an alpha wyrdeer, that’s like getting hit by a conkeldurr’s concrete column.” he said, “But bigger.”
Emmet nodded, the wound in his side began to sting, so he winced and sat down.
“I’m sure Ingo wouldn't want you up and walking around either."
He couldn't disagree. If Ingo were present, he would have sit Emmet back down and told him that he'd aggravate the wound more. Which…
Yeah, it felt aggravated…
Emmet hand put a hand on the wound, hoping the pressure would ease the pain. “I… apologize- I’m failing to remember your name.” he said sheepishly.
“Jason.” the man leaned against the counter. Emmet was avoiding eye contact. Ingo had mentioned that Emmet would avoid eye contact if he was anxious or nervous about something. Unless he was with Ingo. If Emmet was unsure about something, Ingo was sure to speak up. “Are you okay?”
Emmet scoffed, letting out a half-hearted chuckle, “N-no… I can’t say I am…” he shook his head. “I got a concussion a couple weeks ago from a rampaging bouffalant, which took me out of work. Then when Ingo and I did return to work- the first thing we dealt with was wrestling a druddigon. We didn’t have our pokemon with us, because we’d dropped them off at the pokemon center. When we got home that same night, someone had broken into our apartment and stole mementos Ingo kept from his time in Hisui. We had a loose sneasel at the station- not that he was a problem, but he did cause an uproar- but then we were ambushed, I was kidnapped, cut open by a pokemon I thought was extinct, poisoned, then I've been here since." Emmet finally inhaled. He looked up at Jason, who was looking at him with concern.
“You’ve had… a lot to deal with the last couple weeks…” Jason winced. “Look- it sounds like you and Ingo need a vacation after everything’s all cleared up- once both of you have fully recovered-”
“No- no, I know Ingo, he’s going to say he’s spent enough time away from the station-”
“Do you guys have a sub?”
“We run a sub-”
“No- dumbass- a substitute. A stand-in. Someone to take your guys’ place while you’re gone.” Jason crossed his arms. “You two are all over the news and social media right now, I’m sure people are going to understand if you two take a vacation.” he said.
“Eh- I- I guess.” Emmet said, “Cilan has been helping out a lot since Ingo was gone, and he’s been covering for me, too.” he shook his head, “But-”
“Emmet. No buts. Look- come to Alola when you and Ingo are fully recovered.” he said, “Alaina and I can set you up in the resort on Akkala Island. You two can relax, decompress, get away from all this damn smog.” he listed, “Get some fucking sun because I can only think of two people I know that are paler than you and your brother.” he said, “And if you two happen to run into trouble, Alaina and I are there, we’ll back you up.”
“I’ve been meaning to ask- how did you just… conveniently show up at the last moment to save my brother?” he asked, “Not looking a gift blitzle in the mouth, but I need to know.”
“Oh- Alaina called your brother… uh… early this morning. We wanted to come over for a visit to check up on you guys. Ingo told us what happened to you and we packed our stuff and even brought together our Unovian teams.”
“This morning? How did you get here so quickly?”
Jason shrugged, “Not a whole lot faster than a latias and a latios.”
Emmet nodded. They heard they were having a problem and they dropped everything and came to Unova. They flew over using a couple of the fastest flying pokemon he could think of. They fended off a very dangerous pokemon long enough to get Ingo to the hospital. “I want to thank you.” he said, “For everything.”
“Yeah, man, of course.” Jason offered him a smile.
“Everything.” Emmet said, “You brought my brother to safety when his hand was bitten by a zoroark. You helped bring him home from Hisui- a whole other time era from this one.” he said, “And you… just saved his life again.” he said, “When Ingo disappeared- when I saw him get sucked into that rift- I wasn’t sure I’d ever see him again.” he took a deep breath, wiping his eyes, “So thank you. And your wife- where is she anyway?”
Jason rolled his eyes, “Talking with Elesa to cool down.” he said, “That ‘Jermy’ bastard is lucky the police pulled her back, or he’d have a crushed windpipe.”
Emmet chuckled, “Loose cannon?”
Jason shrugged, “We’ve started calling you and Ingo our brothers. And for what it’s worth- it’s a huge deal to her when she calls someone ‘family’.” he said. “And listen- Alaina tried tackling a guy off a cliff, sending herself over the edge with him because she thought I was hurt. A guy that almost killed Ingo? You bet Alaina was out for blood.”
There was a knock on the door, and as luck would have it, Jason’s wife stepped in. Alaina looked at them, but focused on Jason, “They’re saying he has a concussion…” she said, turning the two to ice.
