Like. I literally don't actually care if my own shit gets reposted, you have to understand. I just don't want it STOLEN. But "do not repost" is easier to write on my art than "you can repost this, but don't alter the image/remove my signature, don't you dare write 'credit goes to the artist' because that is not credit, please link back to my original post or someplace that you can actually find me. please use an actual link/url instead of writing a non-clickable link of my username, because making it text instead of a clickable link cuts the number of people who will go to the effort of visiting my own page in Half." All those aggregate themed accounts, those fuckin annoying as hell instagrams and facebook groups that are like "body positive art we love wamen 💕 hashtag feminism" and then MASS-STEAL plus sized art created by women, if pages like these that always go and steal my older self-portraits and other works... If they just put a link to my prints of those pieces in the text of those posts, or, fuck, my commission info page? I would literally be living on the moon right now. Short answer: no, I'm not.

Long answer, giving a few reasons with none of my snark being aimed at you personally:

This is how it's done. No, this is absolutely not standard practise - I can name you at least 5 bangs off the top of my head that do not, in fact, do this. Including content restrictions is very much a choice that the mods are making, whether it also is their private opinion or not. None of those other bangs have problems matching, which brings me to:

No PWP: first of all, their word count requirement is incredibly low at 6k, and claiming that authors would struggle to hit that with "porn only"? That's, I'm sorry, ridiculous, not to mention condescending as hell - authors are perfectly capable estimating whether they can hit goals or not with whatever plot (or lack thereof) they are writing.

Artists/betas won't want to claim, or need to know what they get into: First of all, there is a huge bunch of amazing nsfw art and artists in this fandom who, I'd assume, would be happy to make nsfw/dark art. Second of all: have authors provide content notes/warnings for the claiming process, problem solved.

We're not banning dark/nsfw content, just any glorification of it: Right. And who decides what's glorifying? Do they vet this during sign ups? Claiming? Might I end up submitting a fic and get it pulled? Do I have to provide personal information about my trauma to be "allowed" to write dark content in a certain kind of way? This is a slippery slope at best. It is also massively hypocritical because, you'll notice, there are no such restrictions when it comes to violence or murder etc. It gives big ole "I can excuse the eye-eating serial killer, but I'll draw the line at porn" vibes which is a staple of anti culture.

On the above point, it is also worth noting that the entire argument is moot to begin with because even if it is "glorifying" or "romanticizing" it literally does not matter. It's fiction. It's not real. Tag your shit, give warnings during the claiming process, and it's fine. Everything else is cuddling up to censorship, there is no middle ground to be had here. (Which is arguably very ironic considering both the source material and the source material author's stance on such things. Yes I'm salty as fuck about this. Anyway).

All this is to make the event "more accessible." This is, frankly, absolute goddamn bullshit. If people warn properly for their content, and if in the context of a discord server for the fest you have designated spaces to talk about nsfw and/or dark content, people are perfectly capable of curating their experience, what they engage with or not. Conversely, banning content, considering yourself as mods an authority on what is and isn't glorification, is not only condescending as hell, it also makes your fest, in fact, less accessible for anyone who a) wants to write such content, or b) simply is not a fan of censorship vibes in their fandom spaces.

So long story short, I'm the opposite of satisfied and will absolutely not participate. People are, of course, welcome to run their events however they want. I am, of course, perfectly in my rights to run my own big bang without all this nonsense, which is something I am considering doing because I love big bangs, and hate the thought of relinquishing the fest format to something so inaccessible. 😉

started to make a backup of my tumblr but uhhh so i've had this stupid blog since 2013 and i just reblog everything all the time and so uh yeah i have like over 60'000 posts oops takes for fucking ever to download, who wouldve thought!

I’m having surgery on Monday (it’s elective and I’m very glad to be having it) which means I will spend all of next week and possibly more laying in bed and doing nothing. 

Therefore I am collecting suggestions for TV shows, YT video essays, YT videos in general, and podcasts (fiction and non-fiction). Sci-fi and horror are my go-to genres for everything fiction. For video essays / podcasts: science and literature are my preferred topics but I am willing to watch 10 hours of someone talking about, idk, competitive dog grooming or 17th century Hungarian folklore if the essayist really cares about it. Though I am kind of tired of super political/depressing/heavy topic video essays tbh. Not in fiction! In horror, I go as hardcore as it gets.

So yeah, if anyone has suggestions, please throw them at me. Not taking recommendations for books cause my TBR is 47 positions long :) And it terms of games I’ve been playing nothing but Hollow Knight for the last 2 months and I don’t see that changing any time soon.

Umm...Hello Again!

Hello, hello, hello everyone! Guess who decided to raise herself back from the dead? This girl!!!! In all seriousness, hey guys, it’s been forever and a day, hasn’t it? Checking out my posts and my last one was all the way back in 2016. Holy heck, six whole years!!! And before anyone asks no I am NOT one of those folks who ran to Twitter and is now coming back after Mr. Muskrat has decided to torpedo it. I do have a Twitter account but I literally do not post on it at all, it’s only purpose is so I can look at pretty fanart for my favorite fandoms.

Thinking back that was actually why I first got my Tumblr but unlike with Twitter I actually got into Tumblr and using it. And for the record it’s not like I haven’t been using Tumblr at all these past few years. I have THOUSANDS of likes that I’m gonna have to slowly reblog. And I’ve occasionally dropped asks and the odd submission here and there as an anon. As for why I dropped off the face of the earth, honestly I don’t remember why nor do I remember why I never bothered to come back earlier. It’s one of those strange things...I just remembered feeling exhausted and suddenly stopped posting (which is a shame that it was near the start of my Alola playthrough so I never got to finish posting my liveblog of it even though I did finish the game and am up to date with Pokemon games). And every time I thought “hey why don’t I get back into posting?” I just never could get that motivation.

But well here I am six years later and now I got more motivation to get back into the swing of things! Lots of stuff has changed for me over the years but a lot of other stuff hasn’t. Either way I’m already sighing over going through all the likes I built up over the years and slowly reblogging them. And I can’t say I will do stuff on this site as often as I did back in the day considering all the other responsibilities life has thrown my way. But, one more time, I’d like to get back into the Tumblr spirit of things.

So yeah, hello again everyone! It’s nice to be back!!!
