Hey, I just want to point out that the Bharatiya Stree Shakti organization is not actually an apolitical organization, despite claiming so. Many of its founding members are ex-members of BJP and other Hindu nationalist organizations like VHP, ABVP, Rashtra Sevika Samiti (a female equivalent of RSS). So I think we should also be aware of how right wing women in India pretends to care for the interests of women while simultaneously discriminating against marginalized women.

Hey anon. Sorry for the late reply. Usually I reply faster during weekends but this has been a busy one unfortunately.

But thank you for bringing this to my notice. They seemed like any other toothless feminist organization in the country with a special interest in "family empowerment" and reforming men but I just checked their founding members' background and you're right, they're all right wing women.

Not surprised honestly. I think I made a post a while back on how successful the Indian right wing is being in recruiting women to the point it's scary because anyone who's not right wing, well aware or read enough about our politics might genuinely think these are true feminist actions and not an effort to suppress or restrict a movement that opposes and seeks abolition, and not reform, of an oppressive system (patriarchy) which other oppressive systems like nationalism and caste system rely on to work.

I always used to get so angry at white liberals on here because so many times they use the same arguments as Indian right wing men against radical feminism or any kind of feminism tbh. That women don't need mukti(emancipation), we need shakti and equality. That feminism "needs" men and it was the white people who brought homophobia, misogyny etc and our ancient times used to be very progressive blah blah you get the idea. And the constant pretense that feminism is a "Western" and colonial import so we need to oppose it and form a different women's rights movement that includes men and preserves traditional heteropatriarchal roles, when so many ancient texts show how even before colonization many women and "lower" caste people opposed many of Hinduism's oppressive practices. Or at least tried to reform them even if it was in a way that I wouldn't think was effective today.

But I have gotten rid of this anger because not only are these people stupid, sexist and racist but even if they listened to us they wouldn't be on our side. It's futile.

Because basically right wing Indians tend to use more progressive language unlike the right wing in the West. And there's also the historical difference of being colonized vs being the colonizer the analysis of which these right wing people draw inaccurately to gain popularity.

So in short these people are great at deceiving and how they're successful in recruiting women in their movement. I hope these women realize no matter how much Hindu right wing men claim themselves and their religion to be feminist, their end goal in context with gender is to return to traditional roles. A few female goddesses and their temples don't make any damn difference. We need to fight our own political, economic and social wars. All this fake concern for women's education and safety, bullshit. Half of the time Indian fathers encourage their daughters to do well at school and college is so they could marry into richer families to a more qualified man.

- Although I do find Frankenstein plotting to teach Seira cooking so she can cook for Raizel when he can't extremely funny, I do also find it somewhat disturbing. He's essentially making a teen girl do child labour. Yes she and Regis are imposing on him and I do think they should be doing some manner of chores, but making her cook lavish meals? I also know she's doing it willingly but it still makes me cringe since something being one's choice doesn't negate it being bad. And yes technically she's 'of age' since she's 217, whatever that means since she's still obviously a teen compared to Raizel who actually is an adult going to school with children (which is a whole other can of worms), but aside from her position as clan leader she's very obviously not viewed as an adult by most.

Chapter 125 - On one hand I'd love to get a front row seat to the internal drama within the DA-5 lile M-21 but otoh I don't want to die a painful death or get beaten up.

If something is wrong and sexist or homophobic etc against white people impacted by it you ought to say it is if you're claiming you care about X oppression because it's still sexism etc but I just don't trust when white people think they have natural affinity with a group without doing trying to have a meaningful connection because they always over step and start talking about your shit like it belongs to them ( i.e. white trans women glee and eagerness to bring up the slave trade and Black women as if it exists as a framing for their gender dysphoria)

While it's true there has been an uptick of people using criticisms of white women to be sexist and dismiss ideas that funny enough, deeply impact woc - it reminds me of this post that said men if all races want to keep women apart from each other to fight against patriarchy and that's true. you just have to look at some of the patriarchal protectionist shit Black power type men say to keep Black women from speaking up and connecting with other women

But to pretend patriarchy and sexism is the only thing keeping women around the world from uniting is downplaying how willing many women are to fuck other women over whether it's because of whiteness or class privilege etc. And yh maybe they've internalised alot of things so behave that way but they're responsible for their own actions. The racism Black men internalise that can make them incredibly cruel to Black women doesn't not make them responsible for what they do and I think many white women still fail to see them selves as a problem especially in the wake of criticisms of white women being used to be plainly misogynistic I think some will fail to see this as an opportunity to develop better and more effective politics and it's clear some are faltering because they see the ineffective and often backwards tendencies of queer feminism means it's their time to become reactionary and inward instead of stepping up to the place of effective feminist thought and action because the catch phrases you see on social media right now didn't start out of limp and un-radical

But whiteness always gets in the way but my point is if you want to solve something you have to be clear and intentioned that you want to deal with X. Misogyny isn't a side issue but people treat it like that. I think feminism got sexist and misogynistic when some took the criticisms about racism and classics to mean sexism and misogyny are lesser side quest and that for woc it's always a race thing and our oppression is additive, instead of seeing how misogyny can and will combine with other oppressions in such a way it creates certain vulnerabilities so to say it's purely race it's deeply woman hating

Anyway you should read text by older feminist of colour that would talk about not treating the issue of racism in sexism, sexism in racism, racialised sexism etc etc as if we live "single issue lives" the point was making a more complete picture to make feminism more effective for all women not to downplay misogyny as a side quest and distraction to racism or the other way around
