As I’ve mentioned my betrothed and I are doing a Friendsgiving this year. They’re making pies, lamb roast, and apple cider. Now, for the pies, they needed heavy whipping cream. And y’all.
They went insane for cream. I can’t explain it.
At the grocery store together they fretted to me about not being able to find a pint. I said, hey, it’s okay, we have half a thing of cream already at home. Get one half pint and we’ll be okay.
But they were adamant. No. They needed two half pints, they wouldn’t have enough. I shrugged and figured we’d have a lot of waffles with whipped cream in our future.
And then. UNBEKNOWNST to me. They picked up another pint on a separate grocery run. Now, they did think initially that they were making two pumpkin pies but one of them turned into apple which didn’t need the extra cup of cream. But we have four. Containers. Of cream. The three new containers are completely untouched.
We joked about making our own butter because that’s how much cream is in our house.

Sometimes it's hell being queer in a fandom space. Sometimes it's fine, but when it's not - hoo boy.

i know i complain about the lombax lore introduced in the ps3 games, and i know IG hasn't really thought about all the holes it's introduced.
and i mean besides angela. hey how come non-polaris galaxies know what a lombax is despite the race being (mostly) extinct and seemingly having never expanded beyond polaris. did the lombaxes just never have cities beyond fastoon. actually on that note, how come the fastoon lombaxes were beaten so bad with their own technology by one bug, yet one very specific lombax was able to counter aforementioned technology with a bunch of crap he bought off grummelnet.
but i think what gets me the most about this is the whole "lombax dimension" subplot. even with Rift Apart teasing that we'll actually get to see it next game, it has been over 15 years since the lombax dimension was brought up and we've still yet to see that subplot concluded.
it took two (three?) years for the whole clank-zoni subplot to be introduced and wrapped up btw

the process is long, seemingly never ending, and while absolutely deeply fun - god I wish I could just scoop this story out of my brain and spread it on a piece of buttered toast.

I...must be the only person who never read TKK3 Terry as wanting to be Daniel's friend.
I mean, I respect everyone's opinion stating the contrary but, yes.
I agree.
Like, pretend to be his friend as an elaborate manipulative tactic? For sure. Putting up this whole needlessly elaborate ruse because he's ultimately a sadist and he gets a kick out of messing with people? Yes. Pretend to be a kindred spirit and someone similar to Daniel to lure him in? Of course. Cut him off and isolate him from his actual support systems and use that as an opportunity to encourage violent behaviour and lessons that are painful, absolutely destructive and have Daniel thank him for it even as he is unwittingly tortured because it is supposedly something cool, new and almost forbidden Mr. Miyagi wouldn't teach him, then yes, absolutely. There's something perverse about hurting someone and them not realizing it is not a lesson, it is just abuse. Terry knows that and Terry relishes in it. That's the whole plan anyway. To hurt this kid in every way possible. But, being an actual friend? I don't think so. He was really as much of a ''friend'' to Daniel as he was to Stringray. I tend to imagine that in his later years, as an old man, a part of Terry likes to think he was trying to be friendly with Daniel (Who he of course deems ''a stubborn hothead'' for simply...not giving into it a second time), especially when he apologized, throwing everything at the wall and seeing what sticks, like a typical abuser trying anything to get back into a victim's sphere. If Daniel accepts the apology, he thinks, then Terry can be a friend, and if he doesn't, which he didn't, Terry immediately takes the stance of an enemy, chameleon shapeshifter dealing in absolutes that he is, perpetuating the same behaviours he himself states were inexcusable, going from one extreme to the other. He adapts to the given circumstances, being everything and nothing at once --- doesn't even matter in the end, so long as he's in your life, whether as a friend or a foe or something else entirely, feeding off of your fuel. Every option is open. His cards are on the table. He's gonna play them regardless.

was talking to a friend about gross moments in the robot series as a warning of what to expect, and i was talking about how uncomfortable gladia makes me, but kinda had the internal conflict of “do i actually have a reason not to like her or is she just a kinda weird and horny woman and so i’m uncomfy for no real reason and am being unfair”. so i decided to reread chunks of RoD just to get reintroduced to any parts i might have forgotten (i’m always rereading these books but i also have a bad memory so rechecking was important) and uh. yeah gladia still makes me Extremely Uncomfortable what was asimov DOING
maybe one of these days i’ll write a proper dissertation or character analysis on all the RoD characters and post it somewhere, because i do really think this book is where a lot of characterization is cemented and that it’s the first one in the series where every character has depth, even the background ones. like as icky as she makes me feel, gladia is a REALLY well rounded and understandable character. i just also really wish asimov knew how to write women in a way that didn’t immediately make me question character ethics. no scratch that i just wish asimov knew how to write women period 💀
