You may have experienced some difficult relationships (eg. family, love, friends, colleagues...) and now you kind of buildt a multi-layered wall around your heart so that people won't be able to make you suffer/betray you again. And yes it's hard for people to get in and hurt you but also to love you. And yes it may make you feel strong and in control but I think you may be also struggling a lot because of this. Being so overprotective of yourself, despite ofc understandable (it's a defense mechanism), is making you feel lonely too because it's blocking your connections from growing. You've been through a lot and you're still here but it's not because of your walls that you made it through. It's because of the love that pulse inside of you. Have a talk with your emotions, with your wounded ego, and realize that not everyone is here to hurt you. You're very much hurting yourself first by not letting others in in fear of something that may never happen. You can survive anything, you can defend yourself, you can call people out or ask for clarifications. It's not you the naive/"wrong" person if you trust others and they let you down or betray you. You cannot control what others do with what you give them, nor you're responsible of/guilty for that. Come back to you, master your emotions.

I think at times you're confident and well but other times you let your self doubt come in between and make you fear you're saying or doing something bad? Ruining something or the day of someone else? Like you end up falling easily and fast into this negative mental pattern of being useless and inherently "bad" (guilty? unworthy?). I think it's a matter of growing acquainted with your boundaries, setting some healthy ones and not fear being judged (it may have happened a lot in your life) for them or not being appreciated anymore or abandoned if you stopped pleasing others. We need to respect ourselves too, not just others (and pleasing them is not the same as respecting them anyway: you can disagree/say no and still be respectful). It's like you forget about your worth (it doesn't depend on how good you perform) all of a sudden in fear of being left out. You may feel unsafe in setting your boundaries especially when stressed out (or it just may stress you as said), like you may fear being perceived as rude and left alone. It may be that you got manipulated or gaslighted into feeling always wrong, guilty or bad if you didn't acted as "expected of you". I'm sorry about this: remember you are inherently good and worthy, and you have the right to stand up for yourself. You won't end up alone. Find your inner balance and peace, go slow. You're already perfect.

I know this is a very unoriginal observation (much like any other), but I'm finally reading The Great Gatsby, and even I wouldn't describe men the way Nick does.
#queer#lgbt#lgbtq#i did watch the 2013 film for my ap english class though (i think they didn't have enough time left for us to actually read it)#like the way he described tom was very. superfluous in my opinion. something you want to tell the class NICK (joking)#i find myself really partial to the general writing styles of that time though#i haven't even gotten that far in the book either i'm just barely past the part where daisy is introduced#so nick is just waffling about his family history and how he rents for $80/month#which is relatable when you consider inflation. nick i hope you eat you landlord#i can see why people don't like this writing but i am endlessly fascinated by the prose#maybe i should just free myself from the impulse to hide behind layers of self-censorship and live like nick does#tbh tho i still prefer non-fiction and textbooks BUT fiction is valuable and is useful#fiction is like play - it lets you explore different possibilities and thought in a safe environment

#like the idea that you're put into a dorm-ish setting and taught standard life skills that schools and parents stopped teaching a decade ago#and gives you a job or put into a temp agency program or smth#I want and need a job so bad but I have no fucking clue how to navigate life since I wasn't let to most of the time#if this does exist there's a zero % chance it exists in the US because it haaaates people learning how to live#just so tired and lost and always thinking back to like..#6th grade reading teacher fucking hated me and tried to push me to get a work-program thru school instead of staying in school#that would've been so much more valuable to me than 'stay in college get high pay job have our grandkids!!!!' vague plan set tor me#i'm losing it gamers I just want to feel okay again#vent but also cry for actual help

I almost forgot to mention. I find it interesting how Diavolo consistently refers to Doppio in the third person and the two of them with the plural "we", but when Doppio is about to take damage, Diavolo says "I can't let my foot get hurt because that is a loss to me"

i completely forgot my favorite writing magazine switched to being only digital bc they sent me like one email about it two months ago so now that i'm trying to check it out it's like oh no problem just put in your access code that we emailed you :) except i don't have that and i'm trying to find a support email or something and its like. this is too much effort. i understand paper is expensive but i just want a physical magazine mailed to my house 😭
#which makes me sad bc i probably won't renew my subscription bc i will never read a whole digital magazine#and that sucks bc i want to support them bc they make a thing i like and i think it's a valuable resource#but i also don't mess with reading pdfs#their regular website doesn't even seem to exist anymore its just one page linking to the digital stuff#where they used to put up some of their articles

highly underrated skill to be able to communicate with people who have different levels of technical knowledge without being condescending or shitty about it
#i think i'm a reasonably intelligent person most of the time but some of the jargon around here makes me feel so stupid#and most of the time it's not necessary!#using simple clear straightforward language will not kill you and will not reflect on your intelligence#anyway i just got done scoring this proposal and it gave me a fucking headache#and like. english is my first language AND i'm familiar with the content AND i've worked with these people before#and i still don't know what the fuck they are trying to say!#it makes me feel so stupid to say it but if i think if you're asked a direct question you should directly answer it!#I spent like two hours trying to read between the lines to see if they were alluding to/hinting at stuff but jesus.#call me old-fashioned but if we ask 'how is your work aligned with x' and you don't clearly say anything about it...#you don't get full credit.#I don't think that's unreasonable!!!#one of the most valuable skills i developed as a teacher tbh.#because if your shit is too complicated for your students they will bitch at you about it and they have every right to do so
