Thinking about Bulgaria's portrayal in canon I guess. I mean, don't get me wrong I love Bul, but like. Why does he always have to be portrayed...like that. Like a pathetic crying mess.
Idk I just feel like he should get to be...more than that??? Bulgaria has such a cool history and so many awesome things and yet all we get in Hetalia is talking about him being the poorest country in the EU, him struggling to get into Schenghen(without showing the actual way he managed to get into Schenghen) etc (i know there's like a comic with him and Ro wheee for a change he is happy, soemthing about Plovdiv but the comic hasn't been translated yet) and his relationship with Romania, but without any of the actual interesting things that happened historically between robul!!!!! 😭😭😭😭😭 (how can you always show them together and never even mention the attempts at a union between them????)
Not saying that he's always portrayed like this, he's not. And not saying that it's bad. But idk. I guess I am trying to say that he deserves better from canon???
I see him as someone who despite struggling with things, and yeah being depressed & sad a lot, he is also funny and sassy and smart and used to be very ambitious (and perhaps he still has some ambition left in him), who is kinda like a burnt out gifted child (cause you could argue he hit his peak as a child haha), who cares and loves so much, but has trouble trusting others after everything he went through, someone who is very awkward in social situations with people he doesn't know well, who despite it all, is still kind, though perhaps he is a tad bit bitter, but also really sappy.

I really like your nejisasuneji fanart!I think the similarity between Neji and Sasuke in Naruto is worth exploring. Both of them come from the pupil aristocracy, and their strength is about the same (the early Byakugan and Sharingan are both very strong), and both of them are rebels. Regardless of whether it was fate or the system, both people failed in the end. Neji still failed to escape fate and became a scapegoat. Sasuke finally compromised to the old system and ran around in order to maintain the status quo. It is very appropriate to use one sentence to evaluate the two people: "Those who try to control their destiny end up being controlled by destiny."It will be interesting for the sasuneji two to help each other: Sasuke helps Neji reform the Hyuga clan and break the curse seal of the caged bird. At the same time, the reform of the Hyuga clan becomes the beginning of the reform of the old system of the ninja world. Neji, who is no longer controlled by the caged bird, becomes Sasuke's right-hand man.
yesssss this is what drew me to them! i find it very interesting they are both clan prodigies with Baggage and both come from prestigious clans no less. remember when the sharingan and byakugan were compared to each other and it meant anything ever that was FUN.
i particularly enjoy the idea of contrasting them because If I Wrote Naruto (said every naruto fan ever) this conflict of like. sasuke goes on to be the one who could Not bear to stay in konoha and then later turns against it, vs neji who stayed in konoha after being promised that things would change (and they didn't. funny that) would be something to be explored! especially after Both having been seen as Shitty, Angry Prodigies. but neji "calmed down" after being made promises that weren't kept and sasuke didn't let himself even consider falling for stuff like that (until the ending of naruto lmfao)
i'm a big fan of characters who contrast like that lol and i think the whole sharingan vs byakugan thing is a very fun backdrop to that. like dreams/illusions vs reality/truth? come on now.
people joke about it a lot i've seen, but literally if neji as a character were allowed to 1. exist in a meaningful way at all in shippuden lmfao 2. interact with sasuke, i do think it'd be an easy path for interesting interactions, because like. having to defend the village who's literally never helped you, against the guy who was also Never given any assistance or support growing up, AFTER the village made you countless promises that your life would get better when it literally did not? lol. lmao even
them teaming up is sincerely on the like top 5 best things that would happen If Naruto Made Any Sense to me to be honest i do think about it a lot.

it's fun to look through datamined stuff but I need some of you to stop getting mad at larian for scrapping ideas you thought were cool. cool doesn't mean it'll make sense in the overarching story, and maybe larian likes this version better, or sometimes ideas just didn't work well with what they had in mind. I know this first hand from writing stories, I'll have cool ideas but realize later it doesn't fit the original tone of the story. it's okay to scrap stuff, but you can always use it for something else.
also, like it or not, it's larians game first, their story, their characters (I know.), it doesn't matter if we think something is cool, the reality is that not everything works in the end. and that's fine. that's how all art is, it's alive and ever-shifting, it'll go through many, many, versions, to the point where you might get sick of chewing on the same plot, and in the end the final version might not be as good as you thought when you look back in a few months or years. and that's ok. art isn't supposed to be perfect.
everything is subjective and I think fandoms would be a more intellectual place if people learned to critique art for what it is not what it isn't.

ROTTMNT MOVIE SPOILERS
AU where Mikey can't get his portal magic to work at the conveniently right time, and Leo ends up trapped in the prison dimension for years. Kraang beats him pretty thoroughly and then fucks off, but Leo somehow manages to pull through. Most of his limbs are broken, but it's fine, gravity isn't as important here. His mind gets a little broken too, being completely alone for years on end, maybe even develops somebody in his head to talk to, Last Ronin-style, but he's alive.
Meanwhile, his family presumes him dead. Why wouldn't they? All of them together couldn't beat Kraang, just trap him again. Why would Leo, all on his own, have any chance? So they have a funeral for him. Bury his swords, since they're all that's left. Spend a long time mourning, but after many years, accept what happened and start to move past it. Maybe even start to get used to the way things are. By the time Mikey learns to make portals on command, Leo's been dead for years in his mind. Why would there be any reason to go looking for him?
But somehow, some way, Leo makes it out. I don't know how he does it, but he makes it back to his family. They're all overjoyed to see him, of course, but... shocked, to say the least. How are you supposed to feel when someone you've gone through the full grieving process for suddenly shows up on your doorstep? Not to mention that it's been so long, they're all completely different people now. They try for a little bit to fall back on the old family dynamic, but it just feels... wrong. Forced. Fake.
So they start again from scratch. Rebuild their family from the ground up. It's hard, it's awkward, and some days it feels like they'll never be as close as they once were, but the Hamatos are nothing if not determined. They tell each other about what they've been doing ever since Kraang's invasion. (Well, mostly everyone else tells Leo what they've been doing - Leo himself has done a lot of the same, being trapped in the prison dimension.) They have game nights and movie nights, long talks over tea, they comfort each other whenever one of them has a nightmare (which happens quite often, considering everything they've all been through) and slowly - agonizingly slowly - but surely, they start to heal.
