The legend is officially real! Those who grew up in the Burke, Clifton / Fairfax area of Virginia all know way too well the legend of Bunnyman and the Bunnyman Bridge. I’ll let them tell the whole story but @BunnyManBrewing is open for business and they are sharing 18 experimental taps as they flesh out their venue & recipes. Located in the back of an industrial area off Guinea Road in Burke. They pack in a lot of stuff in la limited space if that makes sense. Nice sized patio, modest interior seating with an additional seating area upstairs where you can overlook the brewery. For food they have a food truck out here (today they had @EatAtEugenes Sausage & Fries out there) - Also, unlike most other breweries they have a “pour it yourself” tap system. You give them a card, they return and give you one of their cards. Anything you pour, reflects on your card at the end of the experience. When you go to leave you just drop off their card in the box marked with the tip of your choice (or no tip if you plan to be that person). You can make your own flights, pour your own pints, snifters or refill a growler. I have to say it’s pretty ingenious! I had the pleasure of hanging out with Eric Barrett (who has a previous relationship with us over here at @CatoctinCreek) who gave me a brief tour, did a little shop talk & told me new information about the Bunnyman legend. It was only right to do a flight and see what all they are working on and my opinions & notes are below. Honestly, if you know me, are a local here in Fairfax, especially Clifton & Burke, I implore you to not walk but run out to Bunnyman & show your support for these folks. So I will be the one man army representing @catoctincreek as an Electoral Officer tomorrow. Tonight we put up the signs, tables, social distancing markers, plexiglass and got a tour of the land to get our bearings right. One of my jobs was to build this absentee ballot box a la IKEA style. I’m 100% not a handy person at all but I’m proud of my work. It looks sturdy, feels complete and has a sturdy master lock securing the back. Hopefully my team likes whisky.
