Reaction Images Guy’s Gourmet Image Collection (6,000 Follower Milestone)

We hit 6,000 followers! Nice job team, very proud. <3

To celebrate this milestone, we’re taking a trip down memory lane! I’ve gone through every image this blog has posted so far, and every ‘mood’ category ([undefinable], frick the frack off, hell yah, and so on), and made a masterpost of my favourite image from each category, complete with some annotations on WHY I like those specific images so much.

Shoutout to @rambler-of-procrastination and that one anon for the idea!

[undefinable]: ‘sunglasses’*

(*To clarify - the names these images are being given are the names they’re saved under in my folder)

This one was actually really difficult for me to decide, because this category contained a lot of images I really love. There was that gif of a guy jumping down a floor to smash into a table, there was the historian one, there was ‘please let me see your bionicle collection’... But ultimately, this is the one I went with.

The caption I put for this image was ‘the coolest gif ever’ and I stand by it. Not only is it cool, however, but there’s threefold comedic value as well. Firstly, the fact that the last guy puts classes on his hat as well as his face is funny in and of itself. Secondly, his quick and professional motions make him fit really well in with the first two people, despite the fact that he’s tacking his addition on at the end in an entirely different context. Thirdly, the whole thing goes by so quickly it takes a moment to register that it’s a joke at all - you’re just like “sunglasses, sunglasses- WAIT A MINUTE! That guy isn’t in the move! And did he just put sunglasses onto his hat?” I feel like that moment of realisation just adds to the comedy, yaknow?

;_;: ‘[crying]’

Yeah, the name is really imaginative on this one. Hah-hah. :P

In all seriousness, I actually have a few good crying ones, so this was another hard choice. But I think this one sticks out to me, just because it’s one I can vividly remember using on an occasion where I was actually moved almost to tears by something. So I guess now it has, like, an emotional signature for me?

Even beyond that, the two-in-one format enables for the expression of more emotion, and a sort of variation - like a gif that doesn’t actually have movement. (If that makes. any sense at all lmao.) And it’s very expressive! Very much a cry face; there’s no need to peer further at it like “what emotion am I supposed to be reading from this?”. You just know immediately what you’re dealing with. So it’s got high utility and effectiveness to boot :D

Hell yah: ‘[whhhhp] [click] NICE’

This one’s such a classic, dude. I couldn’t not have it at the top here. It’s just that perfect combo of “hell yes, casual recognition” and “ah yes, exquisite”. Plus, the fact I’ve seen it in video form so many times means I can hear every detail in my head, which is a fun experience :D

Hell Nah: ‘hey- no- hol’ up- HEY- HE-’

I have a lot of images that say something equivalent to ‘no’, but this one... this one says it and means it. There is palpable passion in these nos and heys, beautifully accentuated by the zooms and grainy quality and face-tracking shaky cam editing. It creates a sense of increasing franticity as the thing keeps happening and you can’t stop it no matter how hard you try. Simply exquisite. [chef’s kiss]

Frick the frack off: ‘Are you prepared for the death you’ve earned little man’

Okay okay LISTEN. I’m aware that the text is barely visible and the image is functionally useless. But it,,, it’s just so fucking funny. The dissonance between the illegible caption and the man’s slightly derpy face kills me whenever I see it.

No further elaboration here. It just sparks so much joy.

Y’all are heathens: ‘E X C U S E M E’

I love this one because it’s so POINTED. The completely focused stare, the wide shot revealing the subject of the stare before the camera zooms into the starer... you know exactly how this person is feeling and exactly who the culprit is, the fact that not a word is spoken and all the emotions are conveyed through expression and camera. It’s storytelling in gif form, and it remains, I think, the best image I have to express disgust and disbelief towards a singular individual.

Ah shit: ‘OH NO (Michael Rosen version)’

This one really came down to the wire - there’s an image I adore of,,, I think it’s DJ Kahled? and then over it is comic sans that says ‘i played myself/im a fool/im a fool in a man’s shoes’ and it’s absolutely hilarious. But this one, I think, best captures an ‘oh no’ mood. You’ve got the pause beforehand. The widening eyes, the looking back and forth as the gravity of the situation sets in. And then, finally, the ‘oh no’ itself. 10/10 reaction meme, perfect for the job that it does, moving on.

Depression time: ‘Mike meme’

This was another difficult one! ‘I’m so tired’ and ‘achievement unlocked: existential crisis’ both speak to me on a pretty fundamental level. But ultimately, it had to be this one. The two facial expressions are kind of like getting two images for the price of one - like the [crying] image, they help convey a kind of motion or elaborated emotion despite being a still image. Something about it perfectly encapsulates the phrase “depression time”. It’s my go-to for that exact kind of mood, or scenario. Utility combined with an impeccable vibe and a source that I actually recognize. You just can’t beat it!

Huzzah: ‘Gentlemen, the time has come.’

The formal language of the captioned statement clashes SO brilliantly with the fact that the image is three middle-aged men in tight-fitting wetsuits, about to pilot a vehicle that they made by sticking a van on top of a hovercraft skirt. Chaotic energy all around; and yet it retains that celebratory ‘huzzah’-type vibe.

w h a t: ‘[dissolves]’

This gif is incredible. The guy in it (George Carlin) goes through an absolutely astounding face journey all by himself. Then it’s accentuated by content aware scale, which has insane comedic potential in its own right, and you’re left with one of the goofiest, most emotive gifs I’ve ever seen. It perfect captures that feeling of being taken COMPLETELY aback by something, and the subsequent sense of reality distorting as you struggle to process the new information you’ve just received.

(Maybe that’s an experience unique to people on the autistic spectrum. IDK. But to me personally, it’s a vibe that really resonates xD)

F: ‘F (Hulk)’

We all need a good F to express some respects every once in a while, right? Of the images I have that represent that specifically, I probably like this one the most. I like the facial expression that kinda conveys ‘aah, sorry buddy, here ya go’, and I also like that he’s holding an individual F key from a keyboard, like he pulled it off to hand to someone. It has [gestures] hidden layers.

Ooh-de-lally: ‘oooooo0000OOOOOOOh’

I really don’t have an elaboration for this one. It’s just perfect for the mood it’s encapsulating. It’s so cheeky! So curious! So full of life and mischief and looking at a thing! I love it T_T

Cursed: ‘Stop it.’

We’ve got some intense shading, an uncomfortable close-up, and an intense caption. It’s not a cursed image in the traditional sense, but if I’m being honest, none of the ‘cursed’ images on this blog really are. The point is that it conveys a mood while also being FREAKY-DEAKY. (Is that how you spell ‘deaky’? ‘Freaky-deaky’... that’s a thing, right? Maybe it’s spelled ‘dekey’...)

The close-up itself is particularily poignant to me. Something about that uncomfortable lack of personal space really resonates. Oh - and the greyscale! Something about the fact that the image isn’t in colour (I mean, it wouldn’t be, it’s from a manga, but you know what I mean) helps with that creepy vibe as well, I think. :P

Wow: ‘mind - blown’

This is one of those instances where my fave is decided by how got dang goofy it is. The man in the gif is simultaneously taking us on an incredibly journey of discovery and mind-blowing knowledge, celebrating with us the power of an epihphany - while also looking like he’s a heartbeat away from bursting into tears. I’m not sure if ‘cognitive dissonance’ technically applies to this scenario, but I kind of want to call it that anyway.

Not only that, but there are a bunch of other details. The production value of the explosions and the green-screen, the fact that he keeps on going, the fact that I’ve seen the original video and know that he’s making ‘bwah’ noises with his mouth?? It’s a show-stopper all-round.

I LOVE YOU!!!: ‘face to phone (plus hearts)’

This one’s kind of a subjective one, honestly! (I mean, this whole LIST is subjective, but that’s not what I mean xDD). I don’t really have an objective explanation as to why this one is, for me, THE quintessential image. (I love the heart effects added everywhere, obviously, but it’s far from the only image to have them!) Instead, I gotta go with my personal experience - namely, that this is the image I use most frequently to express affection for someone over messages. It’s kind of perfect for that use, to be honest, with the phone. It’s completely wordless but it conveys everything that I want to convey in those moments of hunched-in, overwhelming affection for someone. And that’s something a little bit special. :)

Welp: ‘Da-da-da, we’re dead!’

This one just has such a welp vibe. But it’s also not JUST welp - it feels like there’s a lot more going on (if that makes sense). There’s an air of resigned depression surrounding the whole thing; it’s a real “we’re boned, but it’s not like there’s anything we can do about it”-type energy. Plus, as a long-time fan of the movie this is from, I can hear the original line in my head whenever I see the gif. Always a fun treat. :P

Genuine mirth: ‘Laughing Tom Cruise’

In general, those image edits of the same person laughing in a bunch of different ways - with a bunch of different, slightly transparent faces over each other - are my favourite way to be like “hey that was funny” without going ‘XDDDDD’ for the bazillionth time. Of those images, however, I have to pick this one as my fave (that’s appeared on this blog so far, anyway ;D). It’s the first one i got! It’s the first one I posted! It has sentimental value. ^_^

Contemplation time: ‘takin’ notes’

This decision was actually another really close one! For a while, I was definitely leaning towards the Buzz Lightyear ‘HMM’ meme. (You know, the one where it’s really zoomed in? I love that one.)

However! I ultimately went with this one because I just kinda,,, use it a lot? It fulfills a pretty unique role in my roster, wherein when someone’s talking to me about something vaguely important, it’s the quickest way to show that I’m taking in what they’re saying in some capacity xDD

I have lots of other images to express general scepticism, but I don’t really have others to express attentiveness. So that’s why this one is probably my fave for this specific category ^_^

Horny on main: ‘Tortured by thirst’

This one gets points from me because it uses allusion rather than direct referral. I really love the images that are just shit like ‘oh he HORNY horny’, don’t get me wrong, but this one - someone got creative with this one! They saw a page in some Star Wars encyclopedia and was like “if I crop this just so, it’s prime meme material”, and they were right!

Additionally, the letterbox-narrow framing of the image looks like one of those dramatic zoom-ins on someone’s eyes, further emphasising both the image’s latant comedic energy, AND just how thirsty the guy actually is. It’s another image in the collection that’s just a lot of fun.

:): ‘smile’

This is one that I didn’t have to think about. This is one that I knew before I even landed on the relevant category. I once claimed that this was the image I most frequently use, and while I have no way of ascertaining that for sure, it’s probably my favourite... maybe overall? As much as I can reasonably quantify something like that, anyway. It’s small. It’s unobtrusive. It’s joyous. It’s kind. It’s full of love and affection. What more could I want?

Fear: ‘[Sobbing] Please don’t eat my ass, spirits.’

I feel like 90% of my justifications for these images being my faves are ‘they’re funny’. This is one of those times. This shit is hilarious. Everything about it comes together in a cacophony of humour - the night light, the caption, the facial expression - and at the same time, it doesn’t take away from the fact that this man is terrified out of his mind. The thought that the spirits might eat his ass is as fear-inducing for him as it is laugh-inducing for us. It’s just magical.

Called out: ‘HERE BITCH SINCE YOU WANNA BE ALL EDGE AND NO POINT’

There were a few really strong contenders in this category, but ultimately, this image is the one that won out for me. :P Not only is the pun glorious - and I love it - but there’s a viciousness to it that really creates a sense of being called out. Like, ‘oh, you want to be an edgy little shit? well HERE YA GO’. I’m not quite sure how else to verbalise it, but it gives me that sense, and I really appreciate it for that xDD

Free Real Estate: ‘free real estate (eyes)’

Yes, this genre has its own category on this blog. (As we’ll see later on in the post, it’s not the only one!) Yes, the one I’m picking as my favourite is a close zoom on the bog standard version. I’m BASIC and I CAN’T PICK A FAVE OKAY. They’re all very situational!! And I love them all!

Gratitude amigo: ‘THANK YOU (bin edition)’

This is another image that works through being multifauceted! Obviously the ‘thank you’ text works on a surface level to tell people, well, ‘thank you’, but it works in another way! Say the bin represents low self-esteem. And the gun in the bin represents you. It’s the perfect image to thank someone not only in general, but for being nice to you when you feel low, or when the chips are down! That extra bit of utility has me, personally, turning to this image more than any of the others I have that function as an expression of gratitude.

Trans Rights: ‘SHUT THE FUCK UP TERF’

A lot of images violently advocating for the rights of transgender people are special. But this one has been the subject of (or at least, an aspect of) debate in the UK’s political center. That’s something special. That’s worth celebrating.

(Plus, maybe it’s just my distraction-loving brain, but I appreciate how bright and colourful and messy the image is. There’s analysis to be made about how mess and colour represents a collective human experience, and that more unites us than divides us regardless of things of gender identity, but there’s also the fact that heehee hoohoo I leik da shiny.)

Disgustan’: ‘Horribly Unfunny Juvenile Tasteless Dumb Forced Disgusting Pathetic and Desperate’

Aside from being another image sourced from my favourite youtube channel, the thing that I really like about this image is how thorough and scalding this is. A lot of the time, the best reactions are non-verbal, conveying emotion through expression without saying a word. This, however, excels at the opposite end of the spectrum; unleashing a deluge of dismissal upon whoever’s unfortunate enough to be on the receiving end. They come like the hammer blows of a professional boxer, and they’re damn effective and tearing something down. I... I really need to use this one more often. :P

Disney: ‘I FUCKING HATE DISNEY BRO I’M SICK OF THIS SHIT’

I have a couple of images that focus on taking the piss out of Disney (yep, that’s an entire mood - am I wrong, though?) but this is probably my favourite because it reeks of desperation. The watery eyes and the scribble edit of the original text, combined with the explicit ‘I’m sick of this shit’ statement, really push that feeling of ‘oh my god, this megaconglomerate is buying out every intellectual property it can, and also (as I understand it) funding discriminatory legislature from behind an insincere veneer of progressivism’ that I think more and more people are picking up nowadays. Perfect representation of contemporary sentiments - pretty damn good image overall.

I am so great: ‘I don’t come cheap. You can’t afford me.’

Badass one-liner. Confident stride out of the room. Astounded titan groupie. The sunglasses. General big dick energy. This image truly has it all. Nothing more needs to be said.

Stole your meme lol: ‘Steal this meme’

On a smaller level, I like this image because of the inherent comedy of a computer screenshot being edited into a scenario where it’s being presented as a physical sign or item. A neat little blend of digital and hypothetically real. It gives me a sensible chuckle.

On a larger level, I’m partial to this one because the character in it is expressing two of the sentiments that you really feel when you’re yoinking a meme from somewhere in the internet: mischief/mirth, and bashfulness. Like, “yeah, this is the done thing and I’m having fun, but also is this okay?? Might I perchance save this image for my own mischievous little machinations?” And as someone who runs a blog dedicated to reaction images,,, yeah. It’s relatable. That’s all I’ll say. xD

Genuine reassurance: ‘Really’

Not much elaboration to be had here; this one just strikes me as the best fulfillment of its specific mood uploaded to the blog thus far! A lot of the time, when someone says ‘Really’, it’s like a ‘YES REALLY, don’t be PREPOSTEROUS’ sort of thing. But this is more of a ‘really, it’s okay’, which I just,,, prefer? It’s sweet, and it’s... well, genuinely reassuring. :P

[Music stops]: ‘[the weekend whip stops]’

Mostly, I prefer this one because not only is the show one that I’m familiar with, but the song itself (The Weekend Whip) is an old favourite that I grew up listening to! Not only do I get that joyful kinda nostalgia from this image, but it also increases its utility for me personally, because it’s something that I’d actually be feasibly listening to (and then stop because of some BS).

Gweetings: ‘actually the funniest walk I’ve ever seen’

Okay, listen, I’m aware of how many times my reasoning for this list as boiled down to ‘it makes me laugh’ and I’m here to tell you right now that I’m STICKING WITH IT. Look at this man’s fuckin limbs!! Look at his head bobbing about on his neck!! Look at those big-ol strides that are being carried out in spite of the fact that the whole body is doing its best imitation of the wacky waving inflatable arm flailing tubeman.

And then!! Look at the GOOFY GRIN ON HIS FACE. Does he know what he’s doing? Is he totally oblivious? I have no idea, and it haunts me in the best way. Keep walking your walk, guy. It brings me joy every day.

I will cause problems on purpose: ‘Elmo Rise’

INTENTIONAL CHAOS AND THE SUBSEQUENT REVELRY

Ambivalent: ‘Duly noted.’

For me, this one’s all in the caption. In short: it fits the mood category so very well. When a person says ‘duly noted’ it is a deliberate acknowledgement devoid of any value judgement or general opinion. It is ‘I recognise that that a thing has happened, and that is all I do’. To that end, it is the perfect ambivalent statement. Irrespective of all the other things going on in the image, the caption basically shoots it to the top of the charts in regards to how well it does its specific job.

Beyond that, the movements are small but consistent, which is pretty aesthetically pleasing, and the bright colours are - once again - a fun addition that spice the image up and give it some life. So, uh, yeah! General winner all-round, this one.

Bog Moss: ‘ahaha, I do that’

Okay, some clarification might be necessary for this specific mood: ‘Bog moss’ is for the category of images that are a big mood, or generally relatable. It’s called ‘bog moss’ because of an inside joke I had going with some friends when I named it. Just for clarification ^_^

In regards to the image itself... well, it’s another one that really acts as a perfect summation of its mood. I quote it to myself- I mean, not on the daily, but pretty often. It’s light and congenial (ahaha), but it still contains that identifying ‘I do that’ that speaks to the relatability of a certain thing. I can’t think of an image better-suited to indicating that something is, indeed, a big mood in some shape or form.

Mockery: ‘UH-OH!!!!! Looks like these comments have been infected with... SHIT IDIOT BRAIN FUNGUS!’

If I had to surmise why I love this image as much as I do in two words, it’d be these two: Production. Value. The hazmat suits plus the multicoloured and multifonted lettering plus the half-dozen warning signs underneath create a dense, chaotic image that really emphasises exactly HOW crazy toxic the comments must be. Very well put-together piece, all in all. [Nods like some kind of reaction meme connoisseur]

Please exercise empathy: ‘that’s a human person.’

This one HAD to be the favourite in this specific category - it’s what inspired the category as a whole!

Beyond that, I think the sentiment it expresses is one that’s really handy to keep in mind in this day and age, you know? We’re seeing ever-increasing amounts of parasocial relationships, internet drama, and general dehumanisation all over the place, and I think that, collectively, we could all benefit from leaning back everyone once in a while and remembering that oh, yeah, there is another human person behind this somewhere. At the very least, it’s a sentiment that I can appreciate, and try and stand behind, in my day-to-day; and that’s why I’m a big fan of this particular image. :)

Nice music: ‘epic sax’

I maintain that the saxophone is the sexiest instrument; for proof, I direct you to the three gentlement in the front of the audience in this image, who have almost definitely all popped stiffys at the glorious sights and sounds before them.

Beyond the personal appreciation, there’s a lot of imagery in here that’s goofy, but also full of LIFE! And PASSION! And ENTHUSIASM beyond words that makes you just kind of want to contort your body into a pretzel as a response to whatever incredible sounds you’re experiencing! And that’s what loving music is about! (To me anyway.)

...I’m gonna go listen to the Halo soundtrack now. :P

Sic ‘em: ‘TEAR THE BITCH APART !’

I think the reason why one works as well as it does it all about angles. The camera is from below, and the woman in the image is looking down and off to the side, seemingly at something kinda far away. (Maybe she’s on a balcony? IDK lol). It isn’t a direct stare. In the collection of ‘sic ‘em’ (i.e. fucking murderise them dude) images I have, this one best emphasises the haughty, stern, disconnected authority and self-centredness that I think you’d need to unironically advocate for someone’s death and/or destruction. (If that makes ANY sense at all.)

Plus, ‘tear the bitch apart’ is kind of a funny phrase, so I like that as well.

Grooving: ‘Orange Justice’

This is another image selection where, for me, it comes down to bright colour. The neon green, neon red and jet black (with white highlights) is bold, but it catches my attention easily. Once that’s happened, the actual dance moves combined with the tracking shaky cam ensure that my attention is held for at least a couple of loops> I’m ltierally staring at it, while it loops, as I write this text. Taht’s not even a joke. I’m enjoying myself and am quite capable of typing coherently while my gaze is fixed on something else. There’s some fresh lore for y’all!

Not immune to propaganda: ‘YOU ARE NOT IMMUNE TO PROPAGANDA. BUT NEITHER AM I...’

In general, all the images in this category are crackers. But this one gets points from me for the fact that it manages to actually include some measure of nuance, and the openings of a discussion about ‘propaganda’ and the way that the best way to tackle it is constant vigilance on the parts of everyone involved. Good on you, reaction image! Good on you.

Silence!: ‘silence, brand’

‘Silence!’ is a good meme. I like it a lot in general. A giant crab shooting laser eyes at something and telling it to shut up? I mean, what’s not to like? But this one in particular is one I really appreciate. For one thing, it combines the meme template with the blorbos from the comics its referencing, leading to a spark of individuality amidst all the other silence memes and paying tribute to its source material. For another thing, I personally believe in the necessity of telling brands to be silenced online every once in a while. So, this one gets my vote! (Although I’m also pretty partial to ‘silence, codebreaker’ if I’m being honest.)

Genuine wrath: ‘I was pissed’

Okay, okay, maybe this isn’t ‘genuine wrath’ in the sense that it’s a gif of a person trashing a room in a fit of rage. (And don’t get me wrong - I love those. They’re hilarious.) But this, I think is my favourite for this specific mood because it’s less funny. The others can still be passed off as exaggeration for the sake of humour, and can be used in an incredibly meme-y way. But this one is simple. Fairly measured. Doesn’t have a lot of funneee destruction. But it still conveys a simple message: “I was pissed”. You can’t escape the sentiment. You can’t inchworm around it or joke your way out of it. It’s just straight up ‘yeah, I wasn’t happy about this’. Reaction images are great fun, but if you want to use one while still feeling genuinely, actually annoyed by something, I’d say this is a pretty solid one to go with.

Pretty sus NGL: ‘So what is the truth’

This one is a pretty good one because of it’s,,, I’m not sure how to phrase it off the top of my head. Solidity? Like, y’all know what a ‘steely-eyed gaze’ is, right? (If you don’t, it’s basically a fancy term for a glare or a stern look. Steel = strong, e.t.c.) This whole image feels like a steely-eyed gaze in gif form. It’s certain. It’s sure of itself. It’s fully aware that something isn’t adding up about the situation, and it wants to know where that wrongness might be. So it asks: what is the truth? No beating around the bush, no funny little raised eyebrow. A simple question, in expectation of a simple answer. I think if you want to get to the bottom of something, this’d be a damn fine way of going about it.

Gotta go fast: ‘runnin’’

The speed of the man running. The fact that whoever’s holding the camera is keeping pace, and - for the most part - keeping the footage even. The uniformly-running legs that look like little cartoon legs. The rough cut that makes this gif look like some kind of infinite loop. The kite looming ominously in the background, like that’s the entity being fled from. The fact that the guy running is Jack Black. There’s just a lot to love here.

Ight Imma head out: ‘lol bye’

The posting of this gif to the blog actually predated the ‘lol bye’ category, so this actually originally fell under ‘[undefinable]’ - I re-categorized it later when I was going through this list.

Anyways, I love this one to fuckin bits. There’s a franticity to it, but it’s a practiced franticity - the characters all know what they’re doing and what their roles are. It’s the perfect summary of that mad dash to hide whatever fuckery you’ve been up to, mixed in with the implied collaboration/teamwork of a group of people taking the plunge as a team. The small image size and slight pixellated compression add to its chaotic aura, and the last character (TK) taking a backwards plunge out the window ties it all together in a neat little red bow.

Case Closed: ‘It is law.’

There are a couple of reasons why I’m partial to this image in particular. The first is in regards to the mood it represents. It’s authoritative - the hand slap, the fancy suit, the full stop at the end of the sentence. The feel here really is for a “this decree has been set in stone”-type vibe, which fits well with the ‘case closed’ mood.

The second reason I like this image is that it was featured in that original ‘I like your shoelaces’ tumblr post, and I like to pay some respects to this website’s history every once in a while. :3

Not-okay cute things: ‘I CAN’T DO THIS IM SERIOUSLY GOING INSANE RIGHT NOW’

I have a few of these, and as a general category, I like them a lot - I’ve definitely used the word ‘dissonance’ already when explaining why I like an images, but all of these ones DO have a big dissonance between the image and the caption that comes with the image that definitely adds to their comedic value and general appeal.

Beyond that, this one specifically is my fave for the category because the long caption ACCENTUATES that dissonance. The words are long, implying a real coherence, but their content implies an impending loss of that coherence. Meanwhile, the plush and its blank stare seem to convey that coherence has already been lost, and that the caption is some kind of post-mortem message. I’m definitely reading way into it, but it’s kinda fascinating. And I ENJOY reading into things! Hence, I enjoy the image as a whole.

Lol thank you but my goal isn't necessarily notes and engagement on here especially with ask posts or else I'd tag them all with a popular radblr tag (or a tag people frequent more than the one I've chosen), or I'd make them significantly shorter. Right now I'm in like kind of a sweet spot with having anon on where most are positive or interesting and deleting the negative or boring ones has decreased the amount of hate overall so I'm not trying to invite a bunch of new trolls by "going viral" on a constant basis. Going viral on Tumblr is more akin to the medical definition where it's usually something you wanna get rid of asap 😂 My url gets me in trouble no matter what I say to probably most of the people on here so yeah

Also trying to predict which posts of mine are going to go around not just on here but on any blog I've ever had has been largely pointless, besides like I mentioned the length (a few sentences/a meme will usually go further than my usual eight long paragraphs). A1) Of course! You can submit any memes here! All I ask is that you provide credit and the year it was from if you're able!

A2) Sorry, probably not. Nothing personal! It's just that keeping things organized with the current tagging system is a lot of work, and adding unrelated tags will add a bunch more work than I'm willing to take on as a single person. Edit: We now have a "suggestive" tag!

A3) Again, probably not going to happen anytime soon. (But if I ever do get any complaints, I might consider it!) I may also consider adding gif and video tags at some point also.

Q6) "Will you tag spoilers?"

A6) Yes! Look out for the tags "dtl spoilers" for the original drawn to life, "tnc spoilers" for The Next Chapter on the DS, "wii spoilers" for the Wii version of The Next Chapter, and "tr spoilers" for Two Realms! However, sometimes posts can accidentally go untagged. So if you want to avoid spoilers of any of the drawn to life games, I recommend avoiding this blog and maybe blocking it. By the way, if we were to get another game, I wouldn't worry about spoilers from this blog for the first several months at least. This is because it takes a long while to prepare (mentally and physically) new tags for the blog.

Q7) "Hey! I don't want my meme/post on this blog! Can you take it down?"

A7) Sure! I can do that. Just link the post you're referring to, and I'll take care of it.

Q8) "Hey, that meme/post was made by someone who is really bad and gross... Can you delete it?"

A8) The answer to this is kinda complicated and highly depends on the situation. Since this blog is a sort of archive, I am very reluctant to remove posts. But if the post is recent enough, I might consider removing it. However if the post/meme is old enough, I'll likely consider it public domain and probably keep it up. However, If convinced the original poster is bad enough, I will go out of my way to avoid content from them. Also don't worry, if you point out a post that has crummy content (lgbtq+phobic, racist, ableist, etc) I'll remove it.

Q9) "What's up with the "discord nonsense" tag? Some of the stuff in there isn't even Drawn to Life related! Are they all from a specific server?"

A9) The "discord nonsense" tag is a general tag for anything related to the discord app/servers. In other words, it doesn't apply to only one server. However, anytime you see a discord post that doesn't seem to have anything related to Drawn to Life, that specific moment/meme is from the Drawn to Life for All discord server! Q10) "Hey, that post isn't a meme! I thought this was a meme blog! ...Do you think that post is a joke?"

A10) While this is a meme blog that primarily focuses on memes, other non-meme posts get reblogged here for varying reasons. One of the most common reasons is that the post simply had something that was funny/silly. Sometimes it's the content itself, and sometimes it's just a silly caption under a piece of art. Another common reason is that the post was lgbtqa+ related. The Drawn to Life fandom is largely comprised of queer people, and thus a lot of these kind of posts (jokey/silly or otherwise) exist! Lgbtqa+/mogai posts added here are NOT added here to mock them. They are added here because they're cool and I want to share them. There's a good amount of non-meme posts here that are here just because they're cool. 😎

Q11) Hey, do you repost memes? Is there a tag for reposted stuff?

A11) Yes, I sometimes do repost memes! I've only gotten around to doing that recently though, so there isn't too much variety yet. I don't have a tag for reposts yet, but plan to soon!

Q12) Hey this post is dated/credited wrong!

A12) Sometimes finding the year(s) of a post/meme is challenging. Especially if it's reposted from somewhere else (whether the reposter is us or someone else). Giving proper credit can be difficult for similar reasons. So if you notice that a year tag or credit given looks off, be sure to let me know!

Q13) What's with the everybody loves/hates x tags? Do you have some kind of agenda with these?

A13) Like all the other tags, they are purely categorical! They are for any mention/implication of people liking/disliking these things (and in the case of the everybody hates wilfre tag, it's about him being not well liked in-game). These tags are named like that to exaggerate the love/hatred of said thing (as many people tend to do outside of this blog). The tags' exaggeration are intended to be silly (and lightheartedly poke fun at those who exaggerate this sort of thing). These tags are NOT intended to spread any kind of agendas or the blog's personal opinion. They're not telling you what to like/dislike, nor are they telling you liking/disliking certain things are wrong. The tags ARE reflections of what I've seen in the fandom. If you want an opposite of one of these tags, lmk! If there's enough posts that fit the bill, I'll consider making it!

Q14) What's with the tag "sexy wilfre"??? 👀 👀 📷

A14) It's a joke about Wilfre being a "(tumblr) sexy man". For posts where he's treated as one by fans (or at the very least, one attractive raposa) Admittedly, I could've worded that one better lol.

i think its fine as long as aesthetic doesnt hinder the ability to make a reply i can read. some people really do be out here triple spacing their words, adding bold, italics, upside down letters, strikethroughs, underline, and everything else and for what???? for a reply that the kids i used to teach could write. and they were like 4 years old. lol. thats sad....... that’s when i know someone’s not confident in themselves

30. Other than roleplaying, what’s your favorite hobby?

im a musician before im anything else so im probably in my daw fucking around. producing something. ive recently gotten into ambient electronica / ambient techno production so im finding joy in stringing together a bunch of synths til i hit the 6 minute mark, adding random bitcrush effects, some percussion just so it looks like i actually did some work, maybe a vocal sample of someone whispering.......... and then i delete it gfkldjgslf. im actually working on a beat tape tho. its been a work in progress for the longest time. but if i actually managed to find my voice as an electronic music producer then i guess i could get somewhere. using a daw is new to me. im more of an instrumentalist. drummer and flutist, primarily. but i dont have any drums and my flute is at my grandmas so there's that..............

i also like to read!!! i buy like 3 - 4 books a month. havent bought any since like november. i only bought two i think. but its fine because ill always revisit my recent favorites. ummmmm... video games. i rly like those old school ass niche ps2 era games like mr. mosquito, space channel 5, kinetica, etc.

wow do i luv internet drama. so im probably reading up on someone’s dumb bullshit on reddit or something!! or youtube. i love internet drama, its my favorite thing on the internet. i live for watching people be the very worst!!! other than that??? i like to collect and try out different skincare and research ingredients cuz its just fun. might go to school to be an esthetician when this whole covid19 panera bread is over.

yo! you just read the queen's thief series? :0 i am a long-time fan and would LOVE to hear any of your feelings about it (also, have you seen the discord server bc its pretty active and fans always love more fans if discord servers are your thing :)

So, you'll have to forgive how LATE this reply is, it's been a mixture of busy-school-semester-quarantine-social-burnout and tumblr deleting my replies when I tried to save them to continue writing later!! But it's now 3am and my brain won't stop thinking about Queen's Thief, so it's the best time to reply, really! (But I really do appreciate you sending in this ask to let me rant about TQT!!!!! AHFKSISJ replying is just hard sometimes lol)

So because I'm terribly long winded and because spoilers!!! For a few people who follow me who haven't read it/or haven't finished reading it, the rest is under the readmore!

Where to begin. So my blog says I just read it but I realized that's a little bit of a lie now? I read the first five books for the first time at the end of Dec 2019, and the beginning of January 2020! I had seen the name of the series around before, around Tumblr bc of a few people I'm following, in regards to a Batfam fic by lurkinglurkerwholurks, ( this one: Breathing )who is ALSO a longtime TQT fan! I reread her Batfam fic after reading the Queen's Thief series and it hit SOOOOOOOOO much harder. Really brilliant. But that last straw was getting an email saying that one of my other all time fav fic writers was writing a fic for TQT. I saw that email and basically immediately downloaded The Thief on my library app 😂 (i needed to be able to read the fic!!! And I'm soooooo glad I: a) read the series before reading the fic, therefore not spoiling anything and b) was able to read the fic because holy cow does it live rent free in my brain. It's Ere by audreycritter btw)

Anyhow, I absolutely DEVOURED the books. I read one after another and then ended up rereading the first three again more slowly over the course of that spring semester. I started drawing again, listened to a good amount the Attolian Archives podcast, reblogged and MADE!! ART!! and m e m es, died when MWT REBLOGGED ONE OF MY MEMES AND SAID IT MADE HER LAUGH, recommended the series to a bunch of people and got several to at least *start* reading the series! I haven't gotten seratonin from books like this since early high school ten years ago! 🤣

Plus the fandom is SO SWEET!!!! And MWT is so engaging!!!! I love that she lets us play in her sandbox! It's like she made a fully furnished dollhouse complete with dolls but she lets us continue to decorate it and build on it and move the dolls around, and then she comes up and gives us compliments on the little things we've done!!! 🥺😭💞

Oh but the books themselves!!! They dig their spots in my heart deeper everytime I read them!!! I don't think Ive ever read a series that I enjoy more every time I reread it. I'm looking forward to rereading this last book, bc I know that the only one that I was obsessed with the first read through was QoA. All the others I liked the first time I read it, but I wasn't in LOVE with them, you know? But when I went back to read them a second time I LOVED THEM. Its like a riptide that you kick around in the shallows the first time around, and then the next time suddenly you're sucked out to sea???

It feels like the pages hold secrets that need to be teased out. The dialogue is SO FUN. It has suspense but not so much that you're stressed. It's so balanced. It has lines that make you put the book down and have to just, do a lap.around the block because they really said that. THEY REALLY SAID THAT. "Diplomacy, in my own name." SHE REALLY SAID THAT. The symbolism, the foreshadowing, I'm OBSESSED! THE CHARACTERS!!!! THE LOYALTY!!!!! What i wouldn't do to have that sort of loyalty written into some of the other fandoms that I'm in. And the TEnderNESS. The way Gen interacts with others??? The way he loves so.wholly? With his entire self??? The way that it's sorta slowburn found family before tumbling into found family all at once in a way that isn't slowburn at all?? I'm pulled in by Gens tricks every time. The storytwists surprised me but made sense. The writing was enjoyable to get lost in. I think of the way that Gen sits at Irene's feet and looks up at her with eyes full of love, how he sits like a printers apprentice in a chair but sits like a king while sick/hurt in his bed, I think about the way he pushed Relius's hair back and kissed him on the forehead, how Relius said he would still crawl back to his Queen and Gen said me too, the difference between my Queen and my King and your Majesty 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 the way Helen says that Sophos basically has Gens heart in his hands, the way that all four of them are entwined together. I think about these books and I'm filled with YEARNING

Uh, No thoughts, head empty except for squeeing about TQT. This isn't even like,,,,,, idk a quarter of it??? There's so much more but it's all so hard to put into words, a lot of it is just me yelling incoherently because I'm overwhelmed! And when I string words together it's, well. All over the place! 😂

As for the discord thing, I've seen the link around! I'm uh, Not Great(tm) at being social, and so the discord is a leeeeetle daunting, haha. But I have considered it, especially because I have an... Interesting fic idea that I wanted to drop into the pool of other TQT fans to see their reactions. It's... a little bit evil...

I genuinely don’t think the problem is as deep as people are seeing it as, with that whole resource blog and vent blog drama. I was there when it began, and it started because someone sent a submission that was recognizable enough to trace to that resource blog, who ended up calling themself out, and then a bunch of people dogpiling them, and then it turned into the 2021 edition of good old tumblr wank, mocking sockpuppets included. I essentially watched a bunch of 30 year olds call each other doodooheads like a couple kids on the playground, but at least kids forgive and forget after a day or two.

That’s probably why they’re avoiding this situation like the plague. The first time a submission went through about that resource blog, it made people feud like the Montagues and Capulets. Obviously they don’t wanna risk fueling that type of drama again. If it’s true that they aren’t letting these submissions through and it isn’t tied to reasons like tumblr eating the ask, then it’s probably because they don’t wanna be involved in this drama anymore. And I don’t blame them, because honestly, even as an observer I’m tired of seeing it, I can’t imagine how exhausting it must be for y’all who are actually involved. Geez. Who even has the energy for this much drama anyway? I’m tired just getting outta bed.

Anyway, I'm sorry it took forever to get to your message, not only did I need a break from this, I needed to space out things related to it, it had taken over the blog. I appreciate that, despite how over it all you are, you were polite about how you feel. I know that is not always easy, and I do really appreciate it!

I hope that you don't feel I am being hostile to you about anything I say, it isn't meant that way. Differences of opinion, when not expressed hatefully, are always welcome here. I'm just going to try to express some of this situation from another perspective, and full disclosure, I'm pretty pissed off about it whether or not I actively want to be. This did impact my hobby, it did hurt people I care about, and I cannot believe such an unnecessary act lead to shit that is still going on.

On the first point...most things aren't as deep as we're given to feel they are after we've been made to feel incredibly unsafe, targeted, repeatedly let down and lied to, and experienced an astronomical level of sketchy behavior out of muns in a position that one is supposed to have some minor level of responsibility (as well as decent comportment) within. So, maybe it isn't that deep, but at this point, I very much cannot blame people for their concerns and suspicions.

And it was incredibly sketchy. CoaR, I'm just going to say it, everyone knows of which blog we're speaking at this point, did all of the following, breaking their own rules for moderation repeatedly:

allowed an actual, openly stated, callout blog to interact with their posts

allowed a meme blog to use their posts for the point of off-blog drama mongering, callouts, and outing themselves

would not moderate this situation as stated in their rules, when they've a bit of nasty record in the not too distant past of mass-blocking for far less and far more questionable reasons

did bother to post about how they weren't getting involved, as though this did not break multiple rules and absolutely is one's problem if it is your vent blog someone is using to create and foster bullying - simply giving the bizarre statement that blocking won't help anyone, when that isn't the point at all lol the point is being intolerant of people using your blog, that has to operate on a basis of being as safe a place as possible for venting (which is drama), this is about a stance and blog security, not being anyone's parent

just as weirdly vaguely threatening everyone first with all the mods "watching," because that's not actually implying an Orwellian parental role no one asked for, then with Sky once again misunderstanding the difference between being a " disciplinarian" and an ass

consistent lack of transparency on all counts

and then, yeah, there is the choice of publishing submissions/rebuttals combined with all of this and those submissions/rebuttals being what they are - not all related to "the drama," or in violation of the rules either, but the apparent willingness to publish them from one side of "the drama" there for a bit

I cannot blame people for feeling like all of this combined is a legitimately sketchy situation. One in which they've already, again, been made to feel unsafe within because COAR was used as a list for callouts.

When people see someone like Raven getting wildly different treatment by not being so much as warned, they're going to feel suspicion about the mod(s). It makes it so much worse that they chose to make the statements they did instead of a transparent, reasonable one like, "We apologize that CoaR was used the way it was, we should have blocked the callouts blog right away, but didn't. To reiterate the rules we've had in place for years, this blog is never to be used for callouts or taking bullying off-blog. Due to how widespread the problem has become, we will not be publishing anything related to it any longer. Submissions will be deleted so we can begin putting this behind us."

Acknowledge fault, apologize for it, say what you're doing to mitigate it now. That's it. Don't actively make it worse!

About the submissions...I know I'm alone in having tested that out. It isn't limited to things that either break the rules or are related to the issue. It's very select topics that are a bit uncomfortably aligned with the bias displayed, and from very select blogs. That's a problem. It's not selectively publishing based on drama-avoidance or rules, what CoaR has always done and no one here is taking an issue with.

I have 0 interest in things like trackers, they're far too easy/tempting to use maliciously for most people, and at the very best, they foster an environment of paranoia. What I know about them comes from really minimal personal experience (I wanted to see what posts people were most interested in on another blog, but it felt creepy with the amount of information I had, so I dropped that very fast) and what mutuals who use them have told me/questions they've answered.

So, is it possible the mod(s) is selectively deleting submissions from blogs they feel are a problem? Yes, it is totally possible. Do I know that for a fact? No, I totally do not. My point is that this is exactly the sort of paranoia that takes off when too many suspicious things happen back to back. You begin seeking the answers you are not getting, and you're seeking them because every day for a month or two, your experience logging in has been one of what the fresh hell. It's a need to insulate yourself from further exposure to harassment.

It's a very simple formula: act sketchy, people look at you like you're sketchy.

And I'm not going to condemn anyone for that.

I will also say that, unless several people deleted their comments or have me blocked in multiple places they somehow know of and take issue with, I did not see what you are describing when I read over the total explosion that happened...what, like a month, two months ago at this point? It was very fresh at the time.

What I saw was someone having submitted about a meme blog screenshotting their mutual's rules. Raven going off about it in a reblog. Two commentators trying to discuss the issue and finally, just saying they weren't surprised what meme blog it was once Raven outted themselves like a fully hinged individual interested in following CoaR's rules.

One of those s commentators is a friend, the mun whose rules were in the posts is a friend. I've never been anything but transparent about that. I'm also familiar with some of the other parties who ended up going on hiatus, but only from discussions on the vent blog over the years. So, yes, I do have personal investment here, and I do not feel like any of those people telling Raven and the callout blog they were at least involved with that their behavior was bullshit can be equated to immature shit slinging. There were even two muns who repeatedly tried to have a civil conversation with Raven, specifically, and for their efforts, got some of the most wildly juvenile treatment.

The worst things I saw came from hate anons and the callout blog.

The people receiving that treatment were largely driven off tumblr. For a time, forever, it differs with all of them. So, I feel like saying that about the thirty-year-olds thing is a little off. I'm not trying to be shitty, Anon, but the muns who tried to address Raven's bullshit were all of that age range. They're definitely continuing the drama, they're not here. I also am required ethically to say that we all really need to stop with throwing around ages like this. Again, I'm not trying to be hostile to you, Anon. I've been trying to show other people's perspective in this (it doesn't matter if you agree or not, I just think it's important to understanding, stopping, and prevent problems to have a fuller perspective that we often lack because we are incredibly tired of whatever is going on, and you're right, we are all really damn tired and also Tired), and as it is an advice blog, I try to address problems here. The pervasive ageism in the tumblr RPC is a problem.

It's a problem that gets discussed when it involves adults not wanting to interact with minors and, as I've seen it put several times, "treating them like the plague." There are a billion "conversations" and complaints about that, but there aren't many at all when it comes to the RPC's bizarre ideas about what age constitutes an adult (you're an actual child until around 23, you're ancient and need to die already, you pedo, at 26) and what being an adult actually is.

You do not turn thirty and lose your hobbies. You also do not turn thirty and become an ultra-mature adult, no leveling up into arcane Adult Knowledge and Behavior unlocks when you wake up on your thirtieth birthday. Between the ages of 17 and 27, you go through so many rapid changes in your cognition, but it levels off considerably after that. You're largely the same person at 32 as you were at 27, and you cannot say that about being...17 and 20, 22 and 25. It begins to take longer to see changes in who you are, those changes are less extreme - your personality, preferences, and viewpoints remain largely the same, they just refine a little here and there.

There is no line at which people "should" stop engaging in any hobby, and it's incredibly gross that the RPC seems to think anyone out of college-age should have no interests, let alone passionate ones, outside of going to work, having a family, and paying bills. That's a bit horrifyingly 1950's isn't it? It's also really misogynistic, considering that the primary base of the RPC is female or afab. When you deal in this, you're literally telling thirty-year-old people with uteruses that they should have no interests outside of birthing children and caring for them.

This isn't what you were doing, Anon, but it's part of the tumorous growth of this ideology that we casually throw around things like "a bunch of 30-year-olds" to make a point. We've seriously got to stop doing that, it isn't a message that most of us would agree with. There are other ways of saying "I think these people should behave more maturely since they're adults."

If I said something like, "well, they were just in their mid-twenties lol what do you expect?" I'd get hate anons, pants would be shat in, and more importantly, it would be wrong. That needs to work both ways, this isn't a separate issue.

An issue that repeatedly comes down to the absurdity of finding differences and drawing lines into cages around people in an environment in which we have the freedom to be more equal than in offline reality. We're all just people here, all just writing and interacting and loving characters. That's all we need to be, and all we need to be judged on is our behavior.

I'm sorry that anyone behaved in a grossly inappropriate manner during any and all of this. It was a heated thing that came to involve too many people and too much harassment, and those are factors that will always see people behaving in ways they would not normally engage in.

And like I said, you don't become some wise master of maturity at thirty! There is a problem mun I'm currently dealing with on another blog that is my age who is one of the most immature people I have ever run into. I have mutuals and friends in the early to mid-twenties who I'm confident weren't as childish as this mun when they were literal children. So, do people thirty and over behave in a seriously unbecoming, childish as hell manner? Yes, they so do! Whether it should be this way or not, you can't expect everyone to be at the same maturity level psychologically at any given age. To me, that just says that I shouldn't age-type people negatively. It isn't relevant where their behavior is.

Otherwise, I'm holding people at some nebulous age over thirty to higher expectations than other equally adult-range people. It isn't acceptable for anyone to behave in the ways I witnessed and was subjected to. It's not even acceptable in teenagers, it's just more understandable (not excusable) because they're working with many things they quite literally cannot control at all times. To act this way is telling everyone below thirty that they're just immature, irresponsible, dicks. It's insulting to them to be labeled in this way, too, even if too many of them see it as a free pass and are, thus, okay with it right now. They won't be, eventually.

Anyway, again, I'm not trying to be shitty to you! I don't think you meant anything in your message in a nasty way, and I cannot say how much I appreciate that after the bullshit brought to this blog and that I've been dealing with privately to help some of those affected feel like the RPC is a place they're safe and welcome in again.

I am definitely tired! Everyone else involved is as well. At least, on what I have to term as "this side" of the equation. I cannot speak to the other side, obviously, but I think they got tired enough of it not being tolerated to be quiet at least. When you make it unfun for people like that, that's usually what happens, after all.

So, I don't think it's them trying to continue the drama. Most of the people I know have remained in their corners happily or been obliged to leave for a while. As for the other people with suspicions...like I said, there are a lot more factors going on here than wanting to perpetuate drama. Sometimes, when we try to make ourselves feel safe, vindicated/vindicate a friend, there isn't any other option but to have the topic come up or breed into suspicions, correct or incorrect ones.

It's a situation that CoaR had a great deal of culpability in, and as such, had a lot of power to mitigate this well before it got to suspicions of who was modding the blog. That wasn't done, and won't be. Like Raven's antics, I have to feel like they've brought some of this on themselves. I do not and will not condone any hate messages sent their way, but again, right or wrong, people do have a right to feel the way they are.

If I were you, I'd stay as far away from it as possible. I don't go on CoaR unless I have to in order to answer something. I had a single blog blocked over here until this all went down (hilariously, it happened to be one that was involved, too, sometimes the red flags are legit, folks), now I have a sadly large number of them. It's now added to liberally, and I hate to do that, I like this blog to be open even to people who disagree with me. I can't deal with the constant drama, though, and I'm not going to be in a new callout every month until I die. Outside of being true to my word about accepting any and all vent messages, I don't want to see it, I don't want to be involved with it. I tag the posts so that followers can filter it, but I'm not going to function as a semi-callout blog by telling people who they should avoid. Just that they should avoid anyone who is making them feel this tired and done. Myself included.

I hope things have settled down in your corner of the RPC since you sent this! They have over here, thankfully. I think most people are staying away from the vent blog and hoping a new and better one comes along. It's back to the usual drama of "stop calling muns pedos for aging up characters."

I wanna say some things bc I’ve been mad about this subject for a while now. It’s not only about HypMic’s fandom, but about fandoms in general. Tho the amount of shit I’ve seen in the HypMic fandom has only been growing with time so I guess it’s time I position myself more clearly (as if it wasn’t clear enough where I stand lol). I’m sure I’ll get a lot of unfollows but guess what: I don’t care.

Some time ago on twitter a person who was very well known in the fandom was harassed out of it because they had LEFT KUDOS IN A “PROBLEMATIC” SHIP FANFIC. They were harassed to no end and accused of shit they never did and of liking things they didn’t even like BECAUSE SOMEONE FOUND THEIR USERNAME LISTED IN THE KUDOS LIST OF A FANFIC. They had so much shit thrown at them that they ended up deleting their account and leaving the fandom. Like, what the FUCK is wrong with you all? WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE TO JUDGE SOMEONE’S ENTIRE CHARACTER BASED ON WHAT THEY SHIP IN FICTION? YOU’RE A NOBODY, THAT’S WHO YOU ARE.

In another fandom I’m in, a person almost commited SUICIDE because they were harrassed bc of the art they drew and the ships they liked.

So let’s start by saying: this blog is a safe space for SHIPPERS, or, if you wanna call them (us!!) that, anti-antis.

I just DON’T CARE about what people like IN FICTION. I DON’T CARE.

Of course, I’m bothered by shotacon/lolicon bc those are actual depiction of children and I’m very uncomfortable with CHILDISH BODIES being sexualized even if they’re just anime. But if you’re into shota/loli due to coping with past abuse (that I will not, in any circunstance, force you to disclose to me bc that’s a very personal matter that no one has the right to make you expose against your will) I won’t hold that against you, even if I’d rather avoid you bc the content you share makes me really uncomfortable. But yeah, this is the only “exception” in my “like what you like in fiction and that’s okay” list,

I’M TIRED of seeing people being harassed because of ships. FUCKING TIRED. NO ONE is committing a crime by shipping fictional characters, even if you dislike it, even if it makes you uncomfortable, hell, even if it triggers you. Here’s a thing: even if you project your abuse onto a specific ship or character, that’s only you. That’s your view. Your experience isn’t universal and everyone will not see your abuse in a ship because they don’t even know you. They will just see a ship that they will choose (or not) to see whatever they want in said ship. As long as the content is properly tagged, the person sharing it is already doing their “job”.

I’m sorry to break this for you but the entire fandom is not, and it doesn’t have to be, anyone’s safe space. EVERYONE has the right to be in fandom, including people who ship things you don’t like, and they have the right to share their content. Again, if it’s properly TAGGED. Create your own safe space, use the blacklist functions, mute words on twitter, mute or block accounts, the tools are all there, USE THEM.

So, if you’re an anti, a fanpol, a fancop, a fucking FANDOM POLICE, do us both a favor and get the fuck outta my blog. You’re not welcome here.

When I Made This Blog: Ummm May 2017. I’ve had a number of blogs before this and I used to change URLs pretty often, my first account was made in 2012 but I deleted a bunch back then because I kept getting scared of my family or other IRL people finding it ojhdfdsfgh after that I had an account from like 2014-2016 where I got WAY too many followers (I had like nearly 4,000 when I deleted) because I was a stupid awkward teenager with issues so I would get into discourse constantly and attract attention from sites like KF or r/TiA a lot LMAO, it was embarrassing I was probably 15-16 at the peak of it and admittedly I never did anything morally reprehensible I was just like, really really reactionary and annoying LOL. I remade after I had calmed down and was more interested in just talking about music and stuff I cared about and I kept getting asks and shit about posts I had made years prior and also my followers didn’t care about this stuff and would unfollow me for not talking about discourse... lol. Luckily I like this blog a lot and I don’t see myself changing URLs or accounts any time soon!

Dream Job: Man straight up I don’t know, I think there’s something wrong with me because I just don’t wanna do anything. I mean ideally I wanna make art of all kinds (I especially wanna write stories and make films) but I really don’t even envision that as something I wanna do for money. I guess it would just be nice to be able to make the stuff I wanna make and get enough money for it that I can support myself you know. I think it would be cool to be a mascot at a park like Disneyland because I like masks and costumes and playing pretend and making kids happy but I don’t really like Disney enough that I would wanna work for them.

Planned a shopping spree with a friend?

Visited a shopping centre/mall? Malls are extremely commonplace here and honestly they already serve as the main tourist attractions if you find yourself in Manila, which is why Manila has never been a popular tourist destination itself (foreign tourists usually head to neighboring provinces, which is smart on their end). I’ve been to malls at least 20-30 times this year, but that’s only because of the pandemic. I probably go close to 50-70 times in a normal year.

Had lunch with a friend? Yeah I caught lunch with Angela a couple times at the start of the year. I had a one-photo-a-day gimmick on Instagram, and I’m pretty sure I have a photo of her in there during one of our lunch dates.

Ordered pizza at a restaurant? Again, at the start of the year. Gab and I loved Italian restaurants so we definitely ordered pizza several times.

Been in a department store? I needed to briefly enter one a couple of weeks ago to look for gift wrappers.

Bought pretty new lingerie?

Had coffee with a friend? Yeah Gab and I had study dates at coffee shops every single week. Now, obviously, I just take myself.

Bought DVDs?

Bought toiletries as a gift for someone else?

Had dinner in a restaurant with your family? Yeah I’m fairly certain we did this at least a couple of times between January and early March. The last time I dined in anywhere was a month ago, but I was only with my parents and my siblings didn’t come along.

Had one of your kitchen appliances break? Our plumbing is a little fucked in general and sometimes we’ll have minor leaks on the floor. My dad’s knives have also gotten a bit dull, so I got him a new knife set for Christmas. But no damage to appliances.

Watched a movie at the cinema?

Struggled for food when the panic buying began? We struggled in that it was a bitch to enter the groceries at first. My dad did the grocieries for us during that time and that was back when they strictly enforced the number of people allowed in the supermarket at one time; and no matter how early he queued, there was always already a line that got there before him. He’d wait around three hours and once he was finally let in, a bunch of alleys or sections in the grocery would already be empty or at least close to becoming empty. We never went hungry or had to skip meals or anything like that, but I do remember having to make do with lesser-known brands we never used before because sometimes those would be the only options left at the grocery.

Wanted to hug a friend, but didn't because you had to social distance? I hugged Angela when I saw her a couple of days ago, and I also hugged Gab when we were still together.

Felt afraid of Covid? My fears over it have tamed over the year, to be honest; but I’m still wary, of course. I hate it when people stand near me and I follow the safety protocols everywhere I go.

Felt afraid to leave the house? Only during the peak of the virus, from March to around May or June. Nowadays I kinda have to go out every now and then for the sake of my sanity.

Deliberately avoided watching the news because it made you feel upset? I mean I took up journ lol so I always watch the news, no matter how upsetting it can get. The one and only time I remember asking my sister to switch the channel was when there was a report on animal abuse.

Had to cancel plans for your birthday? I didn’t have plans for it in the first place, or at least I didn’t have the chance to make them yet, so I’m glad there was nothing to cancel.

Spent your birthday at home? This was the only choice I had. My birthday fell on the most serious and strictest phase of the quarantine, and this was back when nothing was open yet.

Collected a parcel from your doorstep? Online shopping is a norm for me now, lol. I used to not trust it, but now I probably buy at least one item a week.

Eaten an entire box of chocolates in one day? I don’t even like chocolate that much. That sounds so uncomfortably sweet.

Drank fruit flavoured cider?

Eaten birthday cake? Sure, we had cake for my mom’s, my aunt’s, and my cousin’s/godson’s birthdays.

Had a grandparent move into long-term care? My remaining grandparents are all fortunately still very healthy.

Kept a journal of your thoughts and feelings during lockdown? This is technically it, whether’s there’s a lockdown or not. I tried starting a journal after my breakup, but I couldn’t keep it up because my wrist strains easily from handwriting now, hahaha. I find that doing surveys suffice.

Had distressing dreams/nightmares related to the pandemic? No, but about other pressing events in my life.

Felt concerned about your financial situation? Not mine but my family’s.

Returned to a social platform that you took a break from? I left Facebook for a few months after the breakup. I’m back on it again because I had missed the memes, but I also want to permanently delete that account for good, open a new one, and just add the people I want to keep having in my circle. Like I love Gabie’s family to death but I don’t see the point in being Facebook friends with them still, and it actually feels kinda awkward now still seeing them on my list. Idk. We’ll see. I might keep my account or start a new one altogether.

Missed a past hobby or interest? I mean I missed going to malls and bars and going out with my friends, if that counts as an interest. I had to do much less of that this year.

Started a new hobby? I started doing embroidery about a month ago, and a few days ago I started working out. My body is as sore as all fuck, but at least it makes me feel good about myself. For the new year, I also plan on starting a skincare routine after 22 years of not doing anything with my face lol and maybeeee start experimenting with coffee and buy different kinds of beans just because?? Idk, I have a lot of cute hobbies planned out for next year haha I’m excited to see how it goes.

Joined some new Facebook groups? Both for work and personal purposes, yep.

Made some new friends online? I definitely like that I’ve become closer and more familiar with the survey community here. I feel like I barely interacted with anyone pre-Covid, when real life was still a bit more hectic and when it was more difficult to find time to relax and sit down and read everyone’s answers. I also became friends with Justine, Angel, and Bianca when I started as an intern at my workplace.

Felt annoyed because you saw someone without a mask? Everyone wears a mask in public, and there are always people assigned to monitor and lightly scold those stubborn enough to take their masks off. So this isn’t the case, but what I do find annoying is when people stand or walk too close to you. Just last week at the grocery this lady was close enough to be breathing down my neck when I was lining up at the cashier; being non-confrontational for the most part, it felt like being in the deepest pit of hell.

Felt like people were staring at you when you wore a mask? I feel like people are more likely to stare at people who DON’T have a mask.

Bought new stationery? My sister has tons of stationery in her room for whatever reason; when I need one to write short notes or letters, I just ask for some from her.

Video-called your extended family and friends? For sure. We did this a lot especially during the earlier parts of the year.

Written a letter to someone you missed?

Felt surprised when someone wanted to be your friend? No one directly said it to me; but as an intern on my first day of the job, it was a really pleasant surprise to find that the co-interns I was going to be with weren’t boring, unemotional cogs who just aimed to do work. They were HILARIOUS from the get-go, was confused as fuck about work, and I could see they just wanted to make our tiny intern family a close-knit and happy group, to which I gladly agreed and went along with.

Bought a new pair of shoes? I got new shoes meant for my first job interview, but I haven’t gotten any brand new sneakers in a while :(

Replaced some toiletries that you ran out of during lockdown? I guess? Toiletries are necessities, so.

Bought some new books? I read new ones, but I didn’t buy them. Some I saw copies of on the internet; one was given as a gift to me.

Bought new cosmetics? I don’t use those.

Felt like you were drifting away from people you were once close to? *A person. Yeah, well.

Found out that someone you knew had contracted Covid? She’s a mutual friend from my high school days. We aren’t close but we’ve kept in touch by still following each other on social media. She wrote about her experience with Covid on a blog entry.

Realised you had formed a deep connection with someone? I got a lot closer with Andi both because we had to work together for our thesis and because they were there for me, unconditionally and untiringly, when I was coping with my breakup and was in rough shape.

Worried about the financial situation of someone close to you? Of my family, like I said, yes. We had to sell the Vitara because the money that pours into the household monthly isn’t enough to keep paying for it. To be fair, that car was a very big impulse buy by my dad, so we didn’t and don’t feel too bad about losing it hahaha.

Let your guard down to someone? I don’t think so. I was on red alert this year since Gab increasingly broke my trust.

Had an issue with something on social media? Yeah, but I don’t want to get into it. That was such a long time ago and is so irrelevant now.

Felt disconnected from others? I deliberately did so three months ago, so much so that I had acquaintances I barely talked to since graduating talk to Andi and ask where I’ve been.

Changed your internet provider? We’ve had the same one for like 8-9 years now. It works pretty okay for five people who stream videos all day, so we haven’t felt the need to switch.

Felt fortunate/thankful? I mean I’m here, scar-less, and happy with myself on December 31, 2020, right?

Tried some new foods that you enjoyed? Baked sushi is so fucking good.

Re-read a book that you loved? Crazy Is My Superpower by AJ Mendez (aka my favorite girl wrestler, AJ Lee) is always a good read to come back to.

oooook so i wasn't directly involved in the drama (for the most part) but from what i understand about lorkon:

- subaru (the creator of lorkon) was a racist transphobe (despite being trans herself) and would defend michael kirkbride and jeremy soule

- tesblr made so many memes about lorkon that she canceled it a week after it was announced

- she also canceled it because she was gonna invite some special guests (the elder memes, alchemy's writer) but they dipped when they heard about her bullshit

- now subaru's salty over spending $1,500 on lorkon and is either sending anon hate or getting other people to send anon hate to people who were openly against lorkon. which is especially concerning because they're sending rape threats to MINORS

- edit: so apparently it's "suraru" and not "subaru" but whatever

you can get more info from @partyatsanguines's "lore con" tag. they also have evidence that shows subaru being racist and transphobic.

and for the ancano discourse which is completely unrelated:

- tumblr user letheane was making a lot of posts that were attacking this one fanfic writer who shipped her khajiit oc with ancano from skyrim. everyone on tesblr collectively decided that ancano was a furry and started shipping him with khajiit ocs just to spite letheane.

- letheane recently apologized for harrassing said fanfic writer and has since deleted all of their negative posts, so hopefully THAT discourse has died down by now.

- edit: i would like to note that letheane also wrote a bunch of posts about elven superiority which were kinda disturbing, and she also had a khajiit oc that she compared to hitler :/

AND the meridia thing (that i was ACTUALLY part of lmao):

- back in december, tumblr user mount-kilkreath (now deactivated) accused a bunch of tesblr users of being misogynistic bc of how widespread meridia hate was. he even vagued this blog which i was sorta happy about for a few days.

- so for a while, there was a bunch of discourse over whether meridia was ""good"" or whatever. a bunch of people (myself included) got really annoyed because!!! there's so many other reasons why someone would dislike meridia (like darien, umaril the unfeathered, etc.). it's not always just misogyny when people are critical of a character who happens to be female.

- since then i've kinda mellowed my opinion on meridia because seeing her name everywhere on tesblr was exhausting, so i'm not really the Big Meridia Hater that i once was. i still don't like her but i think her lore is neat lol

- a couple days ago someone brought it back, but it wasn't really discourse, it was more like a late response. i think at this point the meridia discourse has died out, so that's not much of an issue anymore (hopefully).

This post, while well-meaning, has the tone that someone associated with the World Science Fiction Society (WSFS) was upset that AO3 writers have been calling themselves “0.00000000453% Hugo Winner” or “Hugo Award Winning Fanfiction Author” and saying “LOL can you believe that my Snarry tentacle porn won the Hugo”. In a mostly-deleted thread (sadly, I came too late for screencaps), WSFS Trademark Protection Committee member and apparent perpetual butthole, Kevin Standlee jumps in to tell a bunch of fanfiction authors that they are diluting the Hugo Award trademark with these jokes. There is trademark discussion. There are jokes. There are memes. There is much mockery.

Meanwhile, over on sci-fi fandom news blog/fanzine, File770, Mike Glyers includes the news bullet, ABOUT AO3’S HUGO AWARD in his daily Pixel Scroll post. Glyers notes that “Kevin Standlee [is] making Absolutely Clear Everybody Must Understand Things Exactly The Way He Does”.

The comments immediately get heated. I’m too tired to do a full write up with quotes, but highlights include (actual real for real) Hugo Award Winner Ursula Vernon telling people that she thinks AO3 users claiming the title is nifty, actually; some discussion of what actual trademark infringement has occurred (an etsy and a kickstarter); Accusations that AO3 wants to smear shit on the Hugos; AO3 Is Just Like Nazis Really; and a lot of people who think the Hugos are a lot more prestigious than I ever thought.

Bonus for this guy.

Will Frank, the Hugo Administrator for 2021 and an official trademark lawyer with degrees n stuff posted HugO3, purportedly to clear up the legal dispute. Unfortunately, what he does is spill a lot of legalese that boils down to “for-pofit uses of the Hugo Trademark Are Bad” (we been knew) and “we think 2 million people feeling like they won part of a Hugo Award will dilute the meaning of the Hugo Award’s trademark” (questionable). When asked point-blank in the comments whether Twitter bio jokes are legally “dilution”, Mr Frank declines to actually answer. My vote for top comment is Rosefox on the second page.

Mike Glyers is back with a link to HugO3 in another Pixel Scroll later that day, asking commenters (probably futilely) not to “light the match”. I haven’t delved too deeply into the comments, but a quick glance includes a presumably white man accusing AO3 of cultural appropriation.

1. What are your top 3 favorite sets you’ve made

This one, this one (if the timing works lmao), and this one (I’m so proud of my AU gifsets... where did all that creativity go??)

2. What is your least favorite set you’ve made

I honestly don’t know... I don’t think I hate anything I’ve posted though. If I don’t like how it’s turning out, I just won’t post it lol

3. Which of your sets has the most notes

4. A set that flopped but deserved better

I don’t know... there’s a bunch, but I’m fine if a gifset flops

I wanted to gif my favourite parts of DW that I didn’t see anyone else doing, so I was like alrighty, time to learn how to do this!! I think the people that inspired me are long gone from tumblr, or I’m no longer following them because they’ve moved blogs (Natasha aka lumos-maxima... wherever you are, I MISS YOU... also Courtney aka needlebug I MISS YOU TOO)

13. Where or from whom did you learn how to gif

Various tutorials on here and just by experimenting. I don’t even think I used Photoshop to begin with, since back in my Neopets days I used Paint Shop Pro to make graphics so I think that’s what I used first to try making gifs of videos.

14. How long does it usually take you to make a set

45 minutes to an hour or so?? It’s been taking longer and longer because the screencaps are so huge though and my poor laptop can’t handle it.

15. Have you ever had gifs stolen and reposted

Yes, and don’t think that I can’t tell when those are my gifs, even without a watermark!!

16. How long have you been making gifs

Since 2011...... my god

17. 10 sets, 8 sets, 6 sets? How many gifs to you prefer in a set

As many as it takes!!!!! But usually between 6-8

Open video, find scene, screencap, load screencaps in Photoshop, resize to gif dimensions, add colouring, curse myself for picking a hard-to-colour scene, continue adjusting colouring and become increasingly frustrated because it’s not turning out the way I want it to, give up, add text, save gif, POST!

I used to be all good with giffing 480p back in the day, but I guess now it’s 720p since the gif limits have gone way up.

New dimensions because they look nicer on the dashboard.

ZERO.

Probably at least one or twice, but I don’t remember.

No, I don’t think so. I’m leaving my mistakes there for all to see!

Yes, I did this just the other day with that Missy, Bill and Nardole set. I got the dialogue slightly wrong lmao..... shh

I try to do at least one gifset a day if I can!

Right away. These gifsets are fresh off the grill.

Selective Color or Color Balance

Yes, I can do both but gifs are way more fun imo

I’m gonna say this one again because I was so proud of it when I made it, and I can’t believe I used to put that much effort into my gifs.

35. Do you change your giffing style a lot or do you have a set routine

I have a routine, as described above. My gifs are pretty much all made the same way as I describe in my colouring tutorial too.

36. Do you gif with something specific in mind or do you just wing it

Usually a mixture of both. I like to try to gif a different Doctor each day, so I’ll know who I have in mind but I’m not planning on a specific episode. I’ll just open up one of their series and go from there!

37. What sets if any do you have planned to make in the future

Idk, I was thinking of doing yet another gifset with Donna in it since I just finished her Big Finish series... but maybe I’ll do one with Eleven and the Ponds??? We’ll see.

38. What are you really excited to gif that isn’t out yet

The next Doctor Who holiday special?? :D

39. How often, if ever, do you delete old sets that you don’t like anymore

Never!! I love seeing how my gifs have slowly changed and improved over time.

40. Why do you make gifs

Because it’s fun, and it’s a way for me to relax after a long and busy day at work.

41. What is your least favorite part about your gif making process

When it takes forever for my screencaps to load, and when it takes forever for my gifs to save sometimes

42. How is your gif folder organized? Is it organized at all?

Lol nope.

43. Do you keep videos forever or delete them once you’re done giffing

I keep the episodes forever, but honestly I think I keep everything forever because I forget about getting rid of the other stuff like trailers and interviews... I should go through my downloads folder.

44. Ever had a gif become a meme? Would you like that if you haven't

I’ve had people use my gifs as reaction gifs and it is a weird feeling, especially seeing the gifs being used on websites other than tumblr. I remember seeing one of my gifs used in someone’s book review on Goodreads and I was like “WAIT THAT LOOKS FAMILIAR!!”

45. Ever gotten hate over a set

Not really hate, but I do get a lot people that are like “WHERE IS ______?” in their tags. And sometimes I just want to be like “Make your own gifs if you think they should be there!!!”

46. Ever gotten a really sweet compliment over a set

Yes :’)

47. Any advice for novice gif makers/people who want to start making gifs

Don’t give up!! Make gifs of whatever makes you happy, don’t worry about the notes too much, and use your tags! KEEP PRACTICING!

49. How much would you say you’ve improved since you first started giffing

It’s been almost 9 years since I’ve started, so I hope I’ve improved quite a bit! :P
