The pink ladies definitely went to see Barbie and dragged the boys by saying they were seeing Oppenheimer and they we disappointed when they didn’t but ended up loving and went a second time without the girls
Fic prompt: The Pink Ladies and the T-Birds become convinced that Cynthia’s dating someone and won’t leave her alone until she tells them so she freaks out and tells them she’s dating Buddy
Immediately afterwards she rushes to Buddy’s house and pretty much goes “hey so I know that I’ve told you over and over again how much I hate you but can you pretty please pretend to date me” and he’s like ok fine but you owe me
And so the entire thing is just those two fumbling around trying to convince everyone that they’re dating (which is much harder for Cynthia than it is for Buddy) and the two of them becoming actual friends
just finished rise of the pink ladies and there better be a season 2 because i need more of the friendships within the pink ladies and t-birds. we got a lot of the jane/olivia friendship and the nancy/cynthia friendship but i want more of the different pairings. also that once scene in ep10 with jane and gil was adorable and I hope we get more of that friendship and the other ones. really excited to see how hazel fits into everything. also, this may be an unpopular opinion, but I think after some soul searching buddy could be really good with her and I honestly thought they had way more chemistry than hazel and wally. and speaking of buddy, this also may be an unpopular opinion, but I think a friendship between him and richie would be hilarious. we need more of men getting over their toxic masculinity
Valdovinos sent their son to military school and allowed Olivia to marry a teacher after locking her inside all summer. How do they feel about their parents after all that?
Gil's mom seems to resent his dad, which Gil seems uninterested in hearing about (who would want to hear their mom badmouth their dead dad). Meanwhile Gil is the "man of the house" and feels the pressure, even though his mom dotes on him.
Cynthia has her mysterious mom and a dad that we know nothing about ( except he is likely a mechanic).
in the facciano family we have the mom trying to pass for white/ assimilate, the daughters who are proud of their Puerto Rican heritage, and the dad who doesn't seem to eager to get involved in their conflicts.
there is shy guy and his dad who pressures his son to box.
Potato 's family deals with a mentally ill veteran dad. His mom apparently has little understanding, or at least chooses to use shouting as a motivator. Meanwhile potato chooses to help and cheer his dad up and look after his siblings.
Then we have the nakagawa family who survived the interment camps and yet seem to be doing fine. Apart from the parents being somewhat scared of their own daughter.
lets not get started on Susan's and buddy's families.
wow okay when i saw people saying they were disappointed in Olivia I was thinking that Olivia reveals Susan slept with Buddy first and then Susan reveals the whole thing about Mr. Daniels but.
But no Olivia tells Susan she can’t come to the dance and then Susan reveals it first. And the thing is my heart hurts for both of them and i understand where they’re coming from. Susan is trying so hard and her mother is absolutely not helping. And seeing her efforts at being better and making friends not going so well, it can be frustrating for her.
She’s entitled to her feelings of hurt and upset, but so is Olivia for not trusting Susan right away. I see so many takes on it being a “jealousy” problem and sure, okay, it may be jealousy but that’s not all of it.
Olivia’s suspicious are founded in rational behavior- Susan has hurt Olivia’s friends. Susan is a privileged white girl in the 50’s and Olivia is not.
And neither is Jane. Just as Jane is entitled to her forgiving Susan, Olivia is entitled to her not doing so. And above all that, they’re teenagers. They’re people. Nothing is black and white. People contain multitudes, and the characters in the show are no different. People and characters have flaws.
It’s time that gets accepted instead of picking up the metaphorical pitchforks and demonizing characters (or people) for the choices they make or for feeling emotions and making mistakes. Especially not children.
Cynthia made a mistake. And she hurt both Shy Guy and Lydia. she’s hurting too.
Shy Guy is hurting. Richie is hurting. Jane is hurting. Gil is hurting. Lydia is hurting. Buddy is hurting. Susan is hurting. Olivia is hurting.
Hazel and Wally, two incredible characters who have feelings for each other are hurting.
If you are going to pick up your pitch forks and attack characters for the choices they make attack the adults. Mr. Daniels is the one in the wrong for initiating a relationship with his student, casting her as the temptress who “pushed him into it” and then initiating a relationship again. Olivia was groomed. It is not on her.
Attack Susan’s mother then, who is a total piece of shit. Not the children
I understand not wanting conflict or being worried about the consequences but. That’s kinda how a show progresses
