So, was asked to draw New Wave as they were during their Brockton Bay Brigade Days by Polar Potato and I thought it was a good time to make some of my own designs for them!

I was gonna do a quick Aquarius for Mermay but the call of Fairy Tail is too much so I did a whole scene.

I'm having so much fun with these

one of those post-GM time travel AUs but Taylor ends up taking Marquis' place. Brandish is chasing her around with a longsword yelling expletives.

Taylor's inner monologue is 13 paragraphs describing how Carol's boobs boob boobily while she runs

Steven Universe Future Episode 12: Bismuth Casual - “I just don’t wanna take her away from what she’s got. She has her own thing going on, she’s like the Pearl I remember...but a little different. She’s happier, I just wanted to catch up.”

So we’ve all talked about Victoria taking on the name Antares and what that symbolizes. The heart of the scorpion, a binary star system, Anti-Ares, Against War etc etc

But, as I was doing a write up about the symbolism of Gods and Greek Myth in Ward, something about Athena caught my eye:

> Athena's epithet Pallas – her most renowned one – is derived either from πάλλω, meaning "to brandish [as a weapon]", or, more likely, from παλλακίς and related words, meaning "youth, young woman".

And of course, it made me immediately think of Victoria’s mom, Brandish. An armored warrior woman who leads a team with her glowing weapons.

And funny enough, there are a lot of references to Athena killing Pallas (who is sometimes written as a separate person), on accident or on purpose:

> In one version of the myth, Pallas was the daughter of the sea-god Triton, and she and Athena were childhood friends. Zeus one day watched Athena and Pallas have a friendly sparring match. Not wanting his daughter to lose, Zeus flapped his aegis to distract Pallas, whom Athena accidentally impaled. Distraught over what she had done, Athena took the name Pallas for herself as a sign of her grief and tribute to her friend and Zeus gave her the aegis as an apology. In another version of the story, Pallas was a Giant; Athena slew him during the Gigantomachy and flayed off his skin to make her cloak, which she wore as a victory trophy. In an alternative variation of the same myth, Pallas was instead Athena's father, who attempted to assault his own daughter, causing Athena to kill him and take his skin as a trophy.

Which sounds eerily similar to the Fragile One (Victoria’s Aegis) crushing Brandish while she was distracted, and her arcs of grieving for her.

The other stories can be stretched to involve Victoria’s battle against Ophion (Pallas the Giant) and the other (Pallas the father) could be stretched a loooot more to be about Amy and how Victoria uses the “wretch” as a defense and later trophy of her own success.

Anyways, that was a fun little thought exercise I had.

Brandish/Carol Dallon

Carol tries to juggle being both a superhero and a lawyer and a mom and it is definitely the mom part that suffers... She puts a lot of pressure on her daughter Victoria, but her other, adopted daughter Amy? She never even *wanted* Amy, and Amy could tell. Which contributes to a whole lot of other really bad issues! She also cheated on her husband. When Victoria is sent to a parahuman asylum (as a result of some seriously fucked up shit) she doesn't even go see her at first, and then goes later on when Victoria is able to communicate a little again, but even so not for very long and avoids looking at Victoria (who is a hodge-podge of human and non-human body parts at this point). In Ward, Carol tries to make it up for the way she treated Amy but she does that by trying to get them together as a family again and by trying to get Victoria to reconcile with Amy (who was responsible for the previously mentioned condition). Also, she's just generally kind of bitchy :/

Carol Dallon traumatized both of her children until their trauma-based superpowers both had mind control aspects to handle isolation and abandonment issues. Everything OP said about the other fucked goes double for Carol "racist volunteer supercop" Dallon.

Brandish is a colossal bitch. She's only losing because nobody outside of Brockton Bay knows who she is.

Tattletale/Lisa Wilbourn

The ultimate high school mean girl. Has the super power of ‘cold reads your biggest secrets then hurts your feelings with them’. Grew up rich. Constantly manipulates all of her friends. Is generally manipulative. Is blond. She deserves to win this, 100%

Literal superpower is bullying people. Pissed off a good chunk of the most powerful people in the setting by being targetedly mean.

She's blonde. She's very mean

She is blonde. She is a supervillain. She uses her power to make superhumanly accurate guesses about how to best f*k with people.

I'm very much not a fan of Carol. She's just a character whose every action grates on my nerves.

For her design, I gave her strawberry blond hair to more connect her appearance with her brother. I also have the impression of her that she'd be the kind of person who looks a little older than she actually is, hence the extra lines on her face. She holds on to anger, has a child she hates, leads an extremely stressful life (both as a hero and a lawyer), and so on.
