Thinking about them again (stex human au in which the main characters are a bunch of teens in the early 1980s and they start a roller skating club)

This is Link! They’re a genderfluid [any pronouns] community college student who works tech at the Starlight Theatre
She has a younger sibling who —unbeknownst to them— fights at the Roller Rink as their charm was found out by Eddie. They haven’t seen their sibling since. But, hey! “ This is Hatchetfield, people go missing everyday- “, right? Although, probably not a kind thing to say to someone who’s desperate.
The pale streak of hair is not dyed, it’s from stress and they’ve genuinely not been able to hide it, so may as well make it apart of his vibe-
Role in The Main Triology

In TGWDLM, they were inside the theatre when the meteor landed. Due to that, part of the roof collapsed and pinned their legs underneath rubble. However, with the initial adrenaline kicking in, they were able to get themselves free -undoubtedly with broken legs-and drag themselves to a phone to call for medical help.
He was taken to the hospital, but that mere initial proximity to the meteor was enough for them to pick up a mild cough; being found the next morning reporting no pain and sat up in her hospital bed humming a certain familiar tune.
Later on, Link’s found singing bits and pieces of Mama Mia as all they ever wanted was their family to be seen-and they couldn’t even do that themselves, hiding in the wings rather than under the spotlight.

In Black Friday, Link planned to just stay home and do some online shopping, but encountered the online discourse about the Wigglys. They inevitably ordered one, despite it being backed up until potentially ‘ next Christmas ‘ with the idea in mind that their kid-sibling would probably love to have a Wiggly.
Until eventually going out later that evening —upon hearing the jingle being played on the television a dozen times over and getting impatient at the fact that they couldn’t wait for the gift to come, or her sibling wouldn’t either.

In Nerdy Prudes Must Die, they’re very much in the background of the hectic blame-game that Hatchetfield spirals into. They aren’t in highschool nor were ever really into sports, so the death of the beloved Maxwell Jägerman and mascot, Richie Lipschitz came as an unaware shock at first.
But hearing so many people accusing other people on what and what-not they couldn’t of done to attribute to the deaths, even close neighbours, made them paranoid enough to stay inside and even contemplating taking a extended stay in Clivesdale to get away from it all.
I may post a full thing of headcanons later tbh idk yet

StEx AUs currently rotating in my mind:
Superhero AU- Rusty becomes The Starlight after an alien being imbues him with devastating cosmic powers. On top of learning how to control these newfound abilities, he has to learn what it means to be a hero as well as navigate the social hierarchy of supers within the city
Battle of the Bands AU- This is really a self-indulgent Jem and the Holograms AU because I can and will mash 80's media together with reckless abandon. Rusty becomes the new owner and manager of Apollo Music after his foster father passes away. Along with the company, he also inherits a supercomputer called Midnight that has the ability to project life-like holograms. With Midnight's help, Rusty assumes a new persona, Starlight, to front a band he has formed with his adopted siblings called Starlight Express. Two rival bands, Diesel and Live Wire, will stop at nothing to sabotage, upstage, and generally create problems for Rusty and his band.
Roller Speed Skating AU- A human AU where most of the cast work and race at The Starlight Express Roller Rink. Rusty wants to be a speed skater but he's just a janitor-- the plot is similar to the musical storyline
Duvay is a Cryptid AU- Rumors are spreading throughout the yard about a mysterious coach that looks nearly identical to Ashley. Is she an evil doppelganger? A ghost, perhaps? Why is she only seen wandering around late at night? Is Ashley taping pillows to her head and sleepwalking (sleeprolling?) The Rockies are on the case!

"Don't be a fraidy-cat! Come on!" Melody yells at her, zooming by. She's smacked on the nose by a indignant Lickety-Split and her pale pink tail.
Bright Eyes tightens the laces on Sweetheart's hooved skates.
"Remember to go slow and you very likely won't fall,” she reminds her.
"What if I-I do fall?"
"Then you pick yourself up, Sweetheart, and you try, and try again," Starlight murmurs, allowing the other pony to lean on her for stability. When she was younger, Starlight used to be scared of trying to eat broccoli.
Or swimming in the lake.
It gets easier!
"Let's go have fun."
Clover and Bon Bon eagerly whistle and wave.
Sweetheart's knees wobble.
"Yeah!" Melody yells, grinning. "Look at that! You're gonna be the champion of the Roller Skate Dance Contest—watch it, Teddy!—"
He picks up speed, laughing tauntingly, but nearly falls into Sweetheart.
"—TEDDY!"
With a cry, Sweetheart loses balance and slides onto the rink-floor.
Tears quickly form in her eyes.
"Oh! Oh no!"
"Are you hurt?!"
"Sweetheart!"
Her friends hurry over. Teddy's face falls.
"Get some ice! Right now!" Patch shouts, glaring at him until he salutes with one hoof, frazzled—"yes, sir!!"—and takes off. Clover goes with him.
Bright Eyes calms Sweetheart down, hugging her.
They apprehensively wait…
"I don't need ice," Sweetheart announces, getting up on her own and smiling. "You were right, Starlight. I can try again."
Grateful, Sweetheart nuzzles her, hugging Sweetheart.
That’s what friends are for.
"Alriiiiight! That's what I'm talking about!" Melody says excitedly, following after the pair of them skating away.

Been out of touch and busy in-between updates for my Stex fan fics and I’m sorry but it’s going to be even slower soon as I have a lot of busy events and irl stuff going on.
ANYWAY. If you are interested in reading or providing some compliments, feel free to read what I got. [Fair warning, I lean pretty heavy on the Rusted Breaks pairing so much of what I have is going to be there.]
⭐️The Real Me Might be the One that You Want: (One-Sided Rusted Brakes, One-Shot) "A year after the events of the race and everything is fine! Pearl and Rusty are the sweethearts of the train yard and CB can pretend that everything is fine on the outside... Even if he lost his chance to tell how he truly felt for someone who might never trust him fully ever again. Everything is fine!"
⭐️Moon-Lit Eyes: (Rusted Brakes, Non-Canon Sequel to The Real Me..., One-Shot) "Five years after the events of the race have passed and much of the yard has changed. To get away from it all for a night, Rusty and CB stargaze by the oceanside rail. A late night talk can certainly bring out more than the moon and stars..."
⭐️Once Lucky: (Possible Pairings, General) "The age of steam comes to a depressing end to steam trains and railways everywhere. Nothing good lasts forever but those lucky enough can still find peace at hereditary yards. One of the last of his age, Lucky must make do with being a young steam engine and survive against the changing world." [Note: This one is unfinished but a second chapter is largely written out and needs a lot of editing before upload. This might also lean into Rusted Brakes.]
⭐️Rolling into Starlight: (Rusted Brakes, General, Other Pairings, Human AU, Multi-Chapter) “Living in ‘West End’ was never quiet, especially when the hippest place to be was the Apollo Victoria Roller Rink. Rusty, a small sophomore with a crush on ‘New Girl’ Pearl, didn’t plan on life to keep throwing curveballs at him… Even when he then discovers that a piece of jewelry his late grandmother left him is actually magical and grants him the wish to be a more confident self. Now with Rusty being able to transform into his secret alter-ego Starlight Express when he needs to, he can perhaps find a way to fight those curveballs outright!” [Note: This one is also largely unfinished but is half-way done. I don’t plan to drop this and would rather see it to completion. This one just takes a lot out of me and update dates are going to be uneven.]

Saturday at the Starlight: Tony as a crazed killer? Booboo Stewart as whoever?
Tony Cavalero has a new movie in post-production, so it could come out shortly after the strike ends: Saturday at the Starlight, described in the iMDB as: "Teens, tweens and crooks all hang out at the local roller rink one night during the 1990s." More details from other websites: a canceled prom, a tween twin-sister birthday party, and a "drug-money pickup gone awry."The cast includes some other recognizable names: Michael Madsen, Dylan Summerall, Booboo Stewart, Steele Stebbins, and Annie Cavalero (Tony's wife).
Tony has third billing as "Chip." He's the red-haired guy with the crazed killer look, to the left of the gun guy.
It looks like there's going to be some roller disco going on, although that fad was out by the early 1980s. And doubtless some heterosexual shenanigans. From the brief summary and poster, I can't tell if there will be any gay characters or homophobic jokes.
Wait -- a youtube discussion of the movie comes from 2018! Could it have been in post-production for five years? Shelved indefinitely?
Darn, I wanted to see Tony as a crazed killer.

May 2022 vs January 2023
Back when that one design of a glamrock Baby came out, I tried my hand at my own design. Since then, I’m glad to say I think my work has improved.
I wanted to keep her roller skates, so in the Pizzaplex, or in the case of my AU, the Fazplex, Baby would become Starlight Baby, in charge of the self-referential Starlight Roller-rink, a double decker skate zone themed after the rings of a planet, found on the third floor with the other space themed attractions, such as FazerBlast and the Eclipse theater, run by the Storyteller (the puppet) but I’ll get to her later.
