Book of Shadows Project

So for those who may not know, I am a pagan (not Wicca, there is a difference). I am still new and learning a lot everyday but, have gotten to the point were I know a lot of things on my own and I know who I am. I am currently apart of a teaching circle provided by a coven known as The Gathering Wind. They welcomed me when I was alone and had no friends in the area I moved into, I have been to rituals and they have even helped guide me in the creation of my own things. They never hold your hand other then the intro of the basics and, I appreciate that a lot.

You have the background now on to the main part of the story. I have been learning for well over a 'year and a day'. If fact I have been learning on and off for over a decade now but, haven really dedicated myself to learning until I graduated college. I was way in the 'broomcloset' btw. However, there was a lot I didn't understand, learn, or know . Even where to go for that information. Then I was kicked out by my abusive mother, when she originally invited me to live with her because I had nowhere else to go and she didn't "want to see her baby living in a corolla" (still did it to me, and threatened me and my cat, who I was forced to rehome). Different story for a different time. I left New England and moved to Reno, NV of all places, chasing a chance at a job in Conservation Ecology.

Long-story short, met the High Priestess and Priest and felt like I had a good support network in a very long time (I had been there for over a month). With there help I have become a more confident and accomplished witch, and am learning where I stand in my own practice. I will be leaving the area very soon but, I have worked to keep in touch with them. I am returning to the East to New England to get a contract with the Feds in Conservation Ecology. It is more akin to a fledgling flight on my own and to stand in my own power with the skills they have taught me. With that first step I am building my first Book of Shadows, BoS.

This is just the outside. As I work on it I will create more and more and it will be posted as regularly as I can. As a warning a BoS is very personal and some of the pages may never see the light of day because of the nature and context of page. However, if I can sensor without detracting from the art then I will do that. Otherwise, as pieces are done I will post them. Currently, I am working on a digital edition of the BoS in the program, Scrivener (great writing program I recommend it greatly). As that pieces are secured digitally and I have a greater sense of how I want my own BoS to be arranged and designed I will then post the art pieces to it. It will probably take me upwards of a year for this but, I am delighted to share.

I forgot to post it when I made it, but I brought lots of crystals recently (mainly labradorite) so I decided to do a few grimoire pages on them! If I’m able to, I really like to research crystals I’m adding to my collection. I’ll also be posting the video I filmed of the haul! I love to do little drawings / use stickers / ephemera etc in my grimoire that relates to what I’m writing about and please let me know of any other people on here / youtube / tiktok / instagram / snapchat etc that post things like this as I’m always looking for inspiration!

These pages were really fun to do, I drew 2 of the crystals I got and used a variety of glitter gel pens and dabbed my finger on it so there would be shine all over the drawing and some more intense patches of the glitter and shine to be the flashes in the crystals.
