"The Voice": Blake Shelton pronounces vocalist leader after "strong" Olivia Newton-John's cover
The forces to be reckoned with of Group Legend were brought into the world for an ideal time on "The Voice."
Artists Omar Jose Cardona and Kim Cruse made mentor John Legend pleased during the first round of live exhibitions Monday night with their hazardous magnetism and vocal trapeze artistry.
Cardona started off the live shows with a jolting presentation of Bon Jovi's "Livin' on a Request."

Blake Shelton Hanging Up ‘The Voice’ After Season 23: ‘It’s Time for Me to Step Away’

Request: Hey love! I was listening to “Sure Be Cool If You Did” by Blake Shelton and immediately thought of sending you a request! Could you write something based on this?! 😘 - @callsign-viper
Summary: After everything that happened (reuniting with you, watching you break up with your boyfriend, and training at Top Gun), Jake decides to go after what he wants. Or the one where Jake falls madly in love with you all over again.
Warnings: alcohol mentioned, a little grab ass, kissing, fluff out the ass, nicknames (Stinger, Honeybee, pretty girl, darlin'), pilot!reader.
Word Count: 1k
AN: Well it took almost a year and I apologize for that! At first, I thought this would be a prequel to Break Up in a Small Town but it turned into a sequel. I think this is a more loose interpretation of the song but I'm happy with how it turned out. Thank you so much @callsign-viper for these requests I had so much fun with them. 💜
For parts 1 & 2 of this accidental series: pt 1: Cop Car || pt 2: Break up in a Small Town

Jake 'Hangman' Seresin POV
God, you were beautiful. You were always beautiful, but there was something about the way your outfit hung on your frame perfectly and how the neon lights from the bar signs made you glow. If looks could kill, Hangman would have been a dead man.
He had told himself that he was going to take things slow, have a drink or two, and get reacquainted after a few years of not seeing each other. Not long ago he had a front-row seat to your decently shitty breakup and you were both going through the stresses of Top Gun training.
But here you both were, sitting at a high-top table across from one another. One drink turned into a few, one hour turned into several, and Penny had just shouted last call.
Have we really been sitting here all night?
He watched as you dragged your finger along the rim of your empty glass, “Pretty sure Penny’s gonna kick us out soon.”
"Yeah." His next words came before he could stop himself, "Is it wrong to say I don’t want this night to end just yet?" He wanted to blame his boldness on the alcohol, but the last drink order was an hour ago and you were both pretty sober.
Thankfully you appeared to be feeling just as bold, “Who said it has to?” It had been a little bit since you broke up with Tom. You and Jake had been spending more and more time together and everything felt like it was falling into place.
A signature grin was plastered on his face, "Whatcha have in mind, Honeybee?"
A smile made its way onto your lips at the nickname. He loved the way the name fell from his lips and seeing your reactions. You had always been his Honeybee. It had started as a joke, a play on the callsign given to you at the academy. Stinger: precise and direct, making a "beeline" to the point regardless of the sting. But Jake had known you since high school and you were still the girl that he could easily embarrass, melting like sweet honey in his hands.
Your eyes darted to the picturesque view of the beach contained within the Hard Deck's back window. "Up for a little walk on the beach?" He could hear a slight bit of apprehension in your voice.
Without a word he stood up, holding out his hand to lead you towards the exit. On the way, he placed cash on the bar for Penny. You stopped at his truck leaving your shoes behind and he watched as you made a beeline for the beach.
Jake took a moment to just watch you, how the moonlight danced across your skin. After a minute, he couldn't stand that he wasn't closer, couldn’t stand that he wasn’t touching you, holding you, kissing you.
He snuck up behind you, arms finding their way around your waist. He picked you up effortlessly and spun you around. You both couldn't help but laugh before he set you down. His hands made their way to your cheeks, taking in every detail of your face. Jake could swear your eyes sparkled when you looked at him.
Before he got a chance to ask, your lips were on his, arms snaking around his neck pulling him closer. Your lips were soft and warm, sweet like honey. His tongue dragged along your bottom lip as if to ask for permission. Without hesitation, your mouth opened, and your tongues danced with one another. Jake all but wanted to devour you in that very moment.
With bated breath he backed away slightly, wanting to share the thoughts swimming in his mind. "I wish I never let you go… We could have made the distance work…"
You ran your fingers gently through his golden locks, interrupting his spiral, "Hush. What matters is that we're here now. Together." Your touch and words put him at ease while simultaneously creating a fire within him.
Without a word he lifted you up, one arm caressing your lower back, the other supporting your legs. You gave him a questioning look. "Jake..?" His only reply to your inquiry was a devilish smile, quickly making his way into the water. "Seresin!" Now the two of you were completely soaked and laughing like fools.
"Common darlin'," his Texas accent was more prominent, "a little water never hurt anyone." he switched his hold on you, wrapping your legs around his waist. His next statement came from nowhere, but he just couldn't help himself, "What if I just dropped you right now?"
“Jake… You wouldn't dar-" Jake didn't let you finish, releasing you from his grasp. He watched as you fell into the crystal blue ocean, knowing that you would have done the same to him if you were in his position.
He wasn't wrong, so it was surprising that he didn't anticipate your next move. You came up from behind, jumping on top of him which effectively caused him to fall into the water himself. When he got his footing back, a splash of water hit his face. The sounds of your laughter and crashing waves were like music to his ears.
He pushed back his wet hair before holding his hands up in the air. "Truce?"
You moved in closer before wrapping your arms around him, "Truce."
One hand moved into your hair while the other found purchase on your ass. The warm Pacific waters enveloped you both as your bodies melted into one another. Jake pulled you in for another searing kiss, this one more frantic than the last, all tongues, teeth, and hands. If he had it his way, this is how the two of you would spend the rest of your lives, heated kisses and close bodies.
Jake pulled back, taking in your dazed look and the want in your eyes. He pressed his lips to the top of your head before whispering, "How about I get you home, pretty girl?"
"Only if you promise to stay." When you looked up at him, Jake swore that you would be the eventual death of him, a death he would gladly welcome with open arms.
"I think we can make that happen."

Austin - by Blake Shelton Steddie AU inspired by this song
So I'm sharing this everywhere because I desperately want someone to write it So I was listening to country music today and the song Austin by Blake Shelton came on and let me tell you I almost started cryin because of an AU idea that popped into my head for Steve and Eddie Just the thought of a Steve and Eddie who after everything that goes down with the Upside Down, grow closer together, spend all their time together and inevitably start falling hard for each other. And just Eddie not being able to stay in Hawkins because no matter that his name is cleared he is still Eddie "The Freak Munson" and the people of Hawkins will never let him live in peace. The thing is though Eddie starts planning on leaving but he knows Steve won't come with him, he's always saying how he has to stay for the kids and Robin, and Eddie doesn't have any clue how to ask him to leave with him....so he doesn't.
He tells Steve one day that he has to leave that he can't stay in Hawkins anymore, he never meant to stay this long as it is. Steve of course is stunned because he had no idea Eddie had been planning on leaving this whole time. He asks Eddie when he's leaving and Eddie wincing and saying he's leaving in the morning. Steve is devastated, Eddie apologizes of course but he won't change his mind (even as he's breaking his own heart) so he leaves. He leaves that very night before he can change his mind. He knows if Steve asks he'll stay but he can't do that to himself (not after every time his mama stayed after his Dad promised he would change...Al Munson never did) so Eddie does what he does best he runs He's been in Chicago for a year, settled and content with where he's at, though Steve is never far from his mind, and with it being a year since he's left (never calling back to give anyone but Wayne who was sworn to secrecy his number) he in his shitty little one bedroom apartment high and buzzed when he decides fuck it and dials a number Wayne gave him a few months after he made it to the city (Steve having moved out of his parents house and into a trailer right next to Wayne gave Wayne his number...for emergencies of course) He listens as his call rings and rings and finally beeps, he sighs about to hang up when Steve's voice filters through with his answering machine message, he lets whoever is calling know that if they're calling about the car he sold it, if it's Tuesday night he's out shooting hoops, and if it's someone selling shit he's flat broke so better luck next time, if it's anyone else they know what to do, and P.S. if this is Bambi.....I still love you (course he couldn't say Eddie's name but well, no one but he and Eddie knew about that nickname) Eddie fucking drops the phone eyes wide, and heart racing Anyway that's where I've been at all day, and I just desperately want someone to write this

RE: Blake talking about the 8-10 songs he has ready, just put this title into youtube to hear the best 12 minute Blake interview from November 2023:
Extended Cut: Blake Shelton on leaving 'The Voice,' 'Barmageddon,' and Ole Red Las Vegas
or just type in Today Show Extended Cut Blake Shelton
In this interview we also got this lovely gem (Thanks to @shefaniquotes for already having it typed out!!!):
2:00 “What is the best part of your life now that she's in it?”
“Oh my God. I mean, the best part is lying down with her at night, and waking up and she's there in the morning.”
“I just didn’t know that that was out there, that that was possible. For that feeling to be out there. You know, that kind of relationship, that kind of friendship. It’s just like, ‘Oh!’ I thought I knew, but I didn’t know and that’s my fault. But now that I do know, it is like, ‘Alright, now my life is starting. This is really where life starts for me.’”
8:59 "Any new music we can expect?"
"...before I know it, which is where I'm at right now, I'll have 8 or 10 things recorded and something that looks like an album..."
Also, I forgot to mention in my last ask, in addition to everything else, THE NEW SHEFANI DUET!!! How can we not be super excited for 2024!!! There is so much to look forward to that we already know about and probably way more we don't know about.
This is such a positive post. Thank you.

Las Vegas just got a little more country with Blake Shelton’s new live music spot Ole Red Bar.
“Extra’s” Alecia Davis spoke with Blake about the grand opening and having his wife Gwen Stefani with him up onstage!
Referencing Gwen’s Coachella performance with No Doubt, Blake commented, “I was excited she did it because she's had a hell of a week.”
The Coachella performance was the first time that Gwen and No Doubt reunited in nine years!
When asked what Stefani’s support meant to him, Shelton gushed, “It’s everything. I mean, that's my wife. And she's never not been there to support me. It's just such a comforting thing to know she has my back. She's my best friend, and it's not something we just say. It's in our actions. We are as supportive of each other as we can be.”
Blake and Gwen are loving the farm life on their Oklahoma ranch.
Blake commented, “I love being on the tractor. It's like my getaway. That is my vacation or hobby. I’m no good at it, let’s be honest. It’s a disaster. I got a guy that works for me on the ranch that after I leave town, he’ll come in behind me and like fix it and get it right, like how it should be. But nobody has more fun doing it than I do.”
Blake even got Gwen to join him.
How does a city girl like Gwen becomes a country girl?
Blake answered, “Well, flowers. It’s hard to get her excited about a stock of corn growing, but if you can get her some zinnias going, now she's fired up. Now she wants to be a farmer.”
For Christmas, Blake gifted zinnia seeds to Gwen. He shared, “I got that. I got her sunflower seeds. You name it, if it can grow in Oklahoma, I probably got it for her.”
To cover his bases, Shelton also got jewelry for Stefani. He quipped, “I’m not sure which is more expensive either. I don’t know if you’ve tried some of that flower stuff... holy sh*t.”
Shelton was stoked to launch his sixth and largest Ole Red Bar right on the Strip.
He said, “It’s not something I think most artists think are in the cards, to be part of something like this outside of making music records and touring. To be able to have a venue that also represents you musically and what you do. And so, I got super lucky this all worked out.”
Blake is also fired up to hit the road again and thrill fans with all his hits on his Honky Tonk tour.
While Blake has missed touring life, he admitted, “I was a little bit nervous. I’m always nervous at the start of my tours. I don’t know why after this many years. It’s simple things I worry about like the lyrics to my song or are people gonna come to the shows? Literally, those are the two things that I stress about.”
As for the possibility of returning to “The Voice,” Blake revealed, “I don’t plan on ever, like working at ‘The Voice’ again. I can’t say I wouldn’t come by for, like, a surprise appearance. I mean, that show is the greatest and most important thing that I’ve ever been a part of in my career. It changed my life, and I’ll always be grateful for that.”
Though he’s not sitting in the famous red chairs anymore, Shelton is still watching the show!
He commented, “I do watch it a little bit, especially when Gwen’s on there. She’s still in and out, and she’s so good at it. She loves the show. She always said to me, ‘How can you want to step away? It’s so fun.’ I’ve done it 23 seasons without missing a single season. I know what you feel like, Pat Sajak, because that’s kinda how I felt being on ‘The Voice.’ If you’re on back-to-back seasons, there’s really no time for any other thing. I guess if you didn’t want to have a family and a life, you could do it that much, but something has to give, and for me, I was to the point where it was time for ‘The Voice’ to be the thing that has to give this time. So, I’m just at that stage in my life.”

Based on Austin by Blake Shelton
All this time and he still knows the number by heart. He types it in so easily, but damn did the last digit have to be a zero — so close to the call button. His trembling hands betray him by starting the call before he has a chance to think anything over. “Dammit,” he hisses and is about to hang up, but he doesn’t and he hears it begin to ring. Once, twice, then on the third it cuts off halfway through and he hears the sickly sweet and oh too familiar voice.
“Aw man, you have unfortunately reached me at a bad time and my phone is off. Which either means it’s Monday, Tuesday or Thursday and I’m tied up in classes. Or it’s Wednesday and I’m tied up meetings with my moms team. So leave me a message and I’ll do my best to get back to you on Friday. Later!” Henry was about to end the call when he heard; “Oh and PS, if this is Kensington… I still love you.”

I love all these articles that are being released about Blake to celebrate his star at the Hollywood Walk of Fame. This one highlights how tough it will be to fill his place at The Voice.
“From the start, Blake was kind, down to earth and funny,” says the series’ showrunner and executive producer Audrey Morrissey, who, like Shelton, has been with the series since its inception. “He’s the type of person that makes sure to have fun every day and makes sure those around him laugh as well.”
Shelton’s affable, easygoing and supportive approach has been felt far beyond what makes it to air, Morrissey adds. “He takes a real interest in people — whether it be his team or the crew,” she says. “This was apparent from Season 1, where after the season was over, he helped out two of his team members. For one, he paid for an apartment so they could 100% pursue music, and for the other, he bought them a car so they could get to writing sessions, etc. Most people know him for his humor, but I know him for his heart as well.”
But Shelton’s infectious sense of play will indeed leave a hard hole to fill in his absence, Morrissey admits. “I will miss the constant laughs the most. His silly, sweet humor disarms everyone,” she says. “Blake is possibly the funniest person to be around. His quick wit and playfulness is infectious and make long days on our set fly by!”

Blake Shelton on His Holiday Plans with Wife Gwen Stefani
Relationships DECEMBER 12, 2022
Tumblr media
Blake Shelton is going to have a delicious holiday season.
On Monday’s episode of “The Jennifer Hudson Show,” the country singer told Jennifer — his former co-judge on “The Voice” — that he and wife Gwen Stefani plan to do lots of cooking this month.
“I’m married to a Stefani, who cooks everything all the time,” he said.
Blake said one of their traditional meals is a timpano, layers of pasta cooked in dough.
“There’s heaven inside of there,” he said about the dome-shaped dish.
The singer added that the couple — who were married in 2021 — plan on making other yummy recipes.
Check out more highlights from Blake’s interview, below.
Blake on Gifting Little David a Goat
During their time on “The Voice,” Blake said he gave Jennifer’s son Little David a goat named Prancer.
“Blake sent me a whole goat!” Jennifer exclaimed.
While at the studio one day, Blake said he was walking behind Jennifer and David. That’s when David turned around and told him, “Mom said you can get us a goat.”
“’Cause I’m the country guy on the show, I just call one out from the barnyard,” Blake joked.
However, Blake said he ended up getting a goat and flew the animal “first class” from Oklahoma to Chicago.
“Most memorable Christmas for my kid ever,” Jennifer said.
Blake on His Last Season of ‘The Voice’
Tumblr media
In the chat, Blake told Jennifer that he is gearing up for the singing show’s Season 22 finale.
“You always win. You think you’re gonna win again?” Jennifer asked him.
“I’ll tell you this. If I don’t win, that show is rigged,” he joked.
Noting that he has been on “The Voice” since Season 1, Blake added, “If I hadn’t won a bunch of times, that would be embarrassing.”
Sadly, Blake announced this year that Season 23 will be his last.
“I’m happy about it,” he said about his decision.
Blake explained that he had planned to leave after Season 20, but because of the pandemic, he “didn’t want to walk” out on the crew who have “become my family.”
He also said he wanted to give the show enough time “to find the right person to take my seat.”Mama Hud’s Holiday Giveaway Day 2! 3
Blake on His Favorite Bar Song
Tumblr media
During his appearance, Blake promoted his game show, “Barmageddon,” where his celebrity friends compete against one another in a series of bar games.
Noting that the show has fun games such as “sharts” and “ax hole,” he warned that it is “not necessarily a family show.”
When Jennifer asked him about his favorite bar songs, he said his favorite was “Margaritaville” by Jimmy Buffett.
“‘Margaritaville’ is my go-to. Everybody knows all the words. Even if you mess it up, it doesn’t matter.”
Coincidentally, Blake said he sang the song for one of the show’s opening acts and realized, “I sang the wrong lyrics my entire life.”
Blake on His Touching Connection to Cher
Tumblr media
Later in their chat, Jennifer played a game called “Blake or Fake,” where Blake read statements that may or may not be true.
When Blake read, “Cher dedicated an album to my father,” Jennifer thought it was false.
“I can never tell if he’s serious or not,” she said.
However, Blake said it was true. He explained that when he ran into Cher one day, he told her that his dad was “her biggest fan.”
When her album came out, somebody told him that Cher had dedicated her new project to his father.
“She did that,” Blake exclaimed. “Unbelievable.”

did you see the pic of niall in la yesterday? i wonder if the reason he is in the us is that they will start filming soon? also, i don’t get why people seem so sure that he won’t be touring next year? if the voice is scheduled to premiere in late february/start march, it would work well with an single/album roll out followed by a tour later in the same year
that could definitely be possible!! another anon earlier said it seems like they usually start filming in october, and it would make sense that they'd want to announce the new lineup before that since people are going to be in the audience for the taping and would probably leak the news anyways.
and re: the touring i KNOW? it kind of seems like people are acting like this is gonna take up all his time for the foreseeable future, as if it's a year round gig or he's gonna be the new fucking blake shelton and on it every single year for the rest of time, but there's no evidence to suggest that's the case? the show starts around feb/march, but as has been already discussed, the first 2/3rds of the show is prerecorded and he wouldn't necessarily even have to be in LA for that, much less not doing any other work. and even once the live shows start—which normally last for about 6 weeks—there's no reason that he couldn't still be traveling, working, promoting, etc. and doing whatever he needs to do during the other 5 days of the week. but even if he chooses to wait until after the show is over to go full throttle, it'll still be over by june, leaving 6 more months of the year for an album and touring

The Voice US is on its 22nd season as of now and Niall is going to be on the 23rd season. The show is on a rapid decline and with Blake Shelton leaving the franchise after next year it will probably be the end of it. The audience ratings are embarrassingly low compared to the previous seasons with averages of 6M and lower while the first 14 seasons did above an average of 12M-15M with the 2nd season doing an impressive 37M on opening night. I don't know what Niall's desperation levels are this year for him to crawl to a franchise which is on the decline. I guess a 6M audience every week is gold for someone like him who's got 10 fans and no others interested in him. Let's hope his narcissist personality turns more people off.
Wow, the show really is in decline. He'll probably sit there bragging about playing Wemble Stadium with 1d and about all his celeb friendships. He doesn't have a reputation for being a great vocalist so I don't think he'll be a useful coach.

I hadn't seen that Mail article about The Voice Aus. but it's made me even more convinced that she might do it. It just makes sense with everything said and done. So will we get advisor Shelton?
I don’t know…it’s interesting to think about, but I don’t see it as being very likely. I also think that Blake is going to step away from all things related to The Voice for a couple of seasons, including being a mentor or advisor, so he can make a clean break and not make it seem like he didn’t really leave.
