He's dressed up in a Mask of Zorro costume and is excitedly running down the stairs while holding two swords, calling out for his mother happily. He tells her that he's ready to go trick or treating. Martha Wayne has her hand on his shoulder and is smiling as she tells him, “your costume looks great!” Bruce replies, “Thanks, I made it myself. Alfred sorta helped. Is dad home yet?” Martha draws her hand back hesitantly and says his name. Bruce already knows that that means there's bad news. He tells her, “don't tell me,” before she continues and says his father called. Bruce has his head down, angrily finishing her sentence, “he's gotta work late!” He looks out the window as if his father will appear and says, “It's not fair! He promised he would take me trick or treating!” Martha soothes that she knows as Bruce repeats, “he promised,” to himself disappointedly. She tells him, “But there was an emergency,” which makes Bruce snap, “There's always some emergency!”

Bruce continues to stand in front of the window as Martha looks at him. Bruce announces, “I'm gonna wait for him. Even if it takes all night!” as he tensely clenches the handle of his sword. Martha reaches out for him sadly and suggests, “Bruce, I could take you out myself. Or, we can call some of the other children at school and go out with them.” Bruce, as an adult, somberly says off panel that, “she doesn't know...” as his kid self stares out the window still. His hat casting a small shadow on his face as he tells her, “There are no other kids to call. I have no friends at school.” Martha says his name again but doesn't know how to comfort him. Instead, she just silently places a hand on his shoulder. We see a silhouette from far away of her standing next to him as Bruce waits for his father to eventually come home. END ID]

can't stop thinking about you could've raised a better girl like. god that's it isn't it. that's what it is to be someone who doesn't realize they may be trans until adulthood, but who has always felt a connection to the "other" gender. 45 years old telling their proverbial mother, you could've raised a girl if only i had understood myself sooner. you could've raised a girl if only i'd had the words for what i felt. you could've raised a girl if only i wasn't forced into maleness from birth. you could've raised a girl if only you'd seen me and listened to me and been the mother that i needed you to be. and i think i would have been better as a girl, and i wonder if maybe i wouldn't have been a disappointment to you if i'd been raised as your daughter instead of your son. and yes, i could have been a better son, but only if i were somebody else. maybe i should have tried harder to be a better son to you but maybe you could have been a better mother to me. maybe i would be a better girl now if you had raised me that way.

So in your AU is Big Mama kidnapping Donnie a danger since she seems to just like keeping people? Or does him living in an extremely abusive situation just work better for her

yeah, she actually doesn’t kidnap him! she lets him come & go as he pleases and they have had a long running partnership where he brings her tech and she babies and praises him. She manipulates him, sure, and she can tell from what he says that his home situation isn’t great, and uses that to her advantage, but it’s really not the worst situation Donnie’s been in all things considered.

Plus she does genuinely have some affection for him, and her desire for a monopoly over his tech means she has capitalistic incentive to take out any other adults praying on him for his Cool Tech Skills.

(he’s embarrassed about the self indulgent name cause he knows his brothers would laugh at him for it)

Ooooh absolutely not. Big Mama and a very few select staff are aware and that is it.

This is probably a pretty easy question to answer, but in the miraculously tiny instance where Cake and Cupcake are separated, and someone benign(good in that they are harmless, bad in that they are not Cupcake's mom, cancelling one another out) approaches, how does Cupcake react? Yknow, before him mom shows up.

(You underestimate how convoluted I can make simple answers, anon (silly/lighthearted!!!)

In the extremely unlikely case of them being separated, Cupcake was taught to run and hide until Cake finds them, so he'd run away!

If he is unable to run, Cupcake would attempt a threat display - for reference, this is Cake's - but instead of body horror and deafening guttural growls, they just puff up a bit and squeak, and he will bite if this person got too close

Cupcake may have been only been hours old when they were taken for the first time, but they vaguely remember the event, and their Mama has said big (adult) humans are not good, so he'd be very scared regardless if this person is harmless or not)
