Bibim-naengmyeon! It’s wild—I suddenly realized I’ve never really eaten Korean-style cold noodles. I had one bowl in a random cafe in Seoul over a decade ago, didn’t much like it, and never tried them again. But it turns out that it’s delicious when it’s made right!
The most exciting part was the “soup.” The first time I had this, it was served with ice cubes to keep it cold, but this restaurant makes a kind of granita out of a crisp dashi and Asian pear! I’d never had a savory slushie before and I loved it!

12. Brand of haircare/bodycare/skincare that you trust 100%?
- Haircare: Fine Feathers by Duck & Dry for both shampoo and conditioner (it’s a London based brand, I’m a sucker for it both because it keeps my hair really silky even when dealing with hard water and because one of the major scent notes is bergamot)
- Bodycare: Anything from Marius Fabre (especially the grenade et fleur de cerisier bar and any of the savon de marseille products)
- Skincare: Nature Republic is my go to brand, I use their hylaronic acid toner daily and try to do cleaner, toner, and moisture sleeping pack (all aqua line) every night. I also absolutely swear by the Isntree hylaronic acid watery sun gel. I hate the feel, smell, and oiliness of most sunscreens, and how they can often cause my pores to clog, but I don’t want skin cancer, so I deal with it. This stuff has absolutely none of those downsides and actually made my skin even better. Also, most importantly, it’s amazing protection. I wore it all summer, in London, Taipei, and Lisbon, and, despite constantly being out in the blazing sun, never had a burn.
23. Do you wear jewelry?
I have a FitBit I wear every day, but I very rarely wear jewelry. Being very physically active, playing a string instrument, and having a job where I handle delicate antique documents on a regular basis, it’s just a pain to constantly be taking things on and off.
29. Favorite pasta noodle?
I’m not sure I really have one. I eat noodles on a pretty regular basis (like bibim naengmyeon, which has chewy buckwheat noodles, and somen are very much a part of my diet), but it’s really rare that I would make pasta for myself at home or even have it going out.
30. Favorite silent film and/or film noir?
For film noir, I’d have to go Double Indemnity (1944), although I’m also a big fan of the Bogart films of this genre, especially The Big Sleep (1946). For silent, probably any of the Josef von Sternberg films, although I have to admit I’m a bigger fan of pre-code talkies (I love Mae West, for example) than of silent film.

pros: ate a lot of bibim naengmyeon for dinner after seeing grandma 👍
cons: on my evening walk and literally outran a dog attack lmaoooo
#really aggressive dog and a kid was walking him and i saw it lunge towards me and the kid was like? 8? obviously overpowered#and i just started sprinting diagonally back and forth.#managed to outrun the beast partially but also the kid’s older brother full on tackled the dog so 👍#so. um. ????????#anyways my shoulder is sore as fuck now you really hold tension there in high stress scenarios

one of my FAVORITE artists ever is @samsketchbook on here + ig!! i have been following them for literal years + have some prints up on my walls + a zine i just love the weird whimsical colorful creepiness of it all!!! also one time they had a little temporary show/gallery on a college campus in chicago + i was in the city for a bit and so i got 2 go see their sculptures in person which was a dream come true 4 me!!!!

Background:
Baekhyun is a child of the Sun who has been given the gift of living a life on Earth; he is 116 years old. Baekhyun spent the first eighty years of his new life traveling the Earth and observing as many of Earth's life forms as he could. Baekhyun found that his favorite land to visit is Jeju Island. He then learned that this land was part of a larger country he could explore. It was difficult for him to find shelter during his early years, especially at night. Baekhyun had to learn Korean quickly to communicate with the other beings around him. Thankfully, Baekhyun met a kind human in Jeju who helped him understand the language and sheltered him. Korean is his first Earthly language.
Unfortunately, he watched as his human friend became older and older. He stayed with his friend for twenty Earth years until his friend died. Before they passed, they allowed Baekhyun to stay in his shelter. The family of his human friend didn't like this very much and asked him to leave. Baekhyun then traveled to the country of South Korea for a few years. Thanks to his energetic personality, he was able to make another human friend that could help him find a safer shelter. Baekhyun learned very quickly that he does not like the human lifecycle. It's too short!
Baekhyun also had to learn that during the human month of Summer, the beings around him do not like it when he sings to make the Sun shine brighter. This is how he learned about droughts and how dangerous they can be for humans. Being the curious little Sunsprite he is, Baekhyun wants to learn more about this world and its inhabitants. Baekhyun learned about the academy while walking around town and hearing two beings talk about it. These two beings didn't look like the humans Baekhyun was used to seeing. Baekhyun decided to look into the academy and fell in love with it the first time he saw it. He can't wait to make new friends and have fun new experiences!

I literally hate myself: a story
I was looking for a cheap restaurant to get takeaway from and found this place that does bibim naengmyeon and fried mandu for ₩12k but for some reason it kept switching between pickup and delivery and I didn't realise it had changed back to pickup and I couldn't cancel without calling them but I can't speak korean well enough 😭😭
The worst thing is that that food will probably go to waste now like they could have given it to someone or something if they knew I wasn't coming
