10 years ago today, my very favorite episode of THE WALKING DEAD first aired—Season 4’s “Still.” It’s widely known in the fandom as “the Beth and Daryl episode.” 💘💘
The Bethyl ship had officially launched in the first episode of THE WALKING DEAD’s season 4—“30 Days Without An Accident”—when Beth Greene hugged Daryl Dixon during a tender moment shared while they were in her prison cell. But “Still”—the 12th episode of that season—remains the most significant in their relationship timeline because it’s when they truly begin to mutually understand and appreciate each other. It’s also important because it was the first ever “bottle episode” of TWD—meaning that it focused on only 2 characters’ shared story throughout Its entirety. Emily Kinney and Norman Reedus absolutely shine in their acting in “Still.” And their chemistry is so compelling, electric, and romantic! 💞
I created this Bethyl edit to not only commemorate this special anniversary, but to also bring Daryl and Beth into the Barbiecore era of 2024.🩷

The Beth Greene and Daryl Dixon packaged dolls in this pic are actually the McFarlane Toys action figures. It’s a photo of my own Beth & Daryl figures that I took several years ago. They are dressed in the outfits they wore in the “Alone” episode—the next one after “Still.” Also, the photos of Beth and Daryl that I used on the “packaging” are from “Alone” along with Beth’s line of dialogue—“Don’t you think that’s beautiful?” 👱🏻♀️💚
So in a way, my post and edit here honor both of these beautiful episodes that feature this couple that I STILL ship so hard… 😍🥰😌

Do you have any head canons about little things Beth and Daryl might have done off screen to help each other out at the prison? They’re both always so elbow deep in keeping Team Family running in that era, you know?
Of course!
Beth and Daryl take turns taking Judith for the night.
In fact, Daryl helps so much with Judith that newcomers think she's their daughter, not Rick's.
Beth makes all of the lists for all of the runs, partially because her handwriting is more legible, but mostly because she's got her finger on the pulse of the prison.
Daryl runs every plan past Beth before he takes it to the council
Imagine Daryl sitting on the floor in the library while Beth rocks the baby talking through a run, pointing out locations and routes on maps.
Beth is often the one to remind Daryl that he is only human, after all, and has to take a break every once in a while.
Anytime anyone, Woodbury resident or new person alike, even implies that Beth doesn't pull her weight around the prison, Daryl goes off on them.
Beth learns how to fight, how to shoot, how to be as tough as she knows she is.
Daryl learns how to be okay with softness.

Daryl bit back the words that sprang to the tip of his tongue as he stared down at her upturned face. I didn’t know you cared so much. Of course he cared, and not just because Beth Greene was possibly the only person in that podunk, pig-shit town that had ever been nice to him, though that was a large part of it. But there was more to it, and that lay in the bright blue of her eyes, that sweet little smile, and the way her lilting laughter rang through his room like a bell.
Fuck. He’d thought he’d been beyond this. Thought he’d left her behind when he’d left that town, and he’d never have to look at her again and think: What if, what if, what if…

The bethyl stories have really slowed down to almost nothing recently and it makes me so sad. Thank goodness for moonshineshacks! I know fandoms don’t go on forever but I’m not ready 😭
Don't worry! This is a pretty common cycle, honestly. There are always periods of very few fics and then there will be periods of a lot of fics being posted/updated. Doesn't mean the fandom is dying :)
Not only is moonshineshacks very active, but also gneebee, galadrieljones, Olpie09, naturegoddess210, Pipergirl17, Aireabella, and plenty of others! And as summer goes into full swing and the holidays approach once again, you'll notice even more authors and new fics popping up.

Has it really been nearly an entire decade since we saw these two together on the red carpet??? 🥹😍
And they were absolutely beautiful at The Walking Dead’s finale episode premiere event at the Orpheum Theater in Los Angeles… capping off eleven seasons.
Once upon a time, I yearned for enduring real life romance between them, but now I am happy that they have circled back to what I hope will be an enduring friendship. Because their onscreen chemistry as Beth Greene and Daryl Dixon in this series was so very special and impactful for many. ♥️
Emily and Norman: THANK YOU for the precious gift of your portrayal of these two characters with so much heart and emotive authenticity. Together, you were absolute magic… unforgettable lightning in a bottle. You deeply touched many hearts and consequently, we became devoted Bethylers. This long hoped for red-carpet reunion brought back all those heart-fluttering feels. 🥰 🫠

Been on here a couple months feeding my hopeless romantic side with Ships that are destined never to leave the port of Headcannon, and finally decided to post something!
I haven’t seen anything past early season six of TWD and YouTube clips, but I know what happens in the long run because spoilers don’t bother me (cries and laughs with the knowledge I started watching a show specifically for a ship, knowing full well one di*s mid season five and I would only ever have two full episodes of that ship in the main show)!
So here…(gently pushed a piece of myself out there with Bethyl in the description, knowing people have complained about haters, but hoping and praying no one tries to take a bite out of me like their some kind of Walker)

So let me get this straight about these spinoffs....
So far we know that on Isle of the Dead, they are going to be in New York, ziplining between buildings, growing food on roofs, and all that with a million walkers wandering the streets below (per President of AMC on a podcast). We know that it's supposed to be a "madhouse" that they are "thrown into" with "waring fractions" that they "get caught up in" (per Gimple in this Comicbook.com article.) We have heard an announcement of additional cast members (per AMC official announcement). We even know a lot more details from spoilers that I will choose to remain silent about. They even have a snazzy poster!
And then we have this Rick and Michonne spinoff. We already know that it's going to be "an epic and insane love story" and that we will see them find themselves again. We've even been told we will see a return of "Machete Rick" and apparently even a Governor-whipping badass Michonne. We know that we will learn more about the group Michonne met up with and WTF Rick's been doing all these years at the CRM. We know this will be a continuing series (and will probably become the main series once everyone reunites eventually like everybody keeps alluding to). We know that both Andrew and Danai are executive producers and are closely working with Gimple "everyday" on this show. We know all this per EW and Comicbook.com articles and the preview special. They also made sure to have a snazzy poster as well.
And this is what we know about the Daryl spinoff: Daryl is going to go off along to France on some sort of mission and he'll run into those variant walkers shown in TWB Coda.
THAT IS LITERALLY IT.
Nahhh...That's not suspicious or anything. Especially since this is the FIRST Spinoff AMC announced.
And...this is what Norman has to say about it:
"If you look back to my history on [The Walking Dead], I've just been fighting nonstop, like all I do is fight, fight, fight. I never get nice things, I'm constantly... If I find something I like, it's taken away from me."
And...
"I just wanna see something different. I want the tone to be different. I want the look to be different." (per this LEO interview).
And...
"There’s some of the characters on the show that are missing; maybe I’ll run into one or two of them."
Oh...yeah...and lets not forget Norman is also making sure we know he is just a simple actor who's just going to be playing a part in this spinoff that is written for him by the writing team and he has absolutely no say in the story that will ultimately go down...
Yeah...I'm sure there's definitely not something weird about any of it. /s/
Oh but we do have a poster...apparently.

A ship I have never liked and probably never will:
Oooh girl you trying to get me in trouble LOL. Every ship from my last post probably falls under this category as well, besides Rickyl and Desus because I genuinely don’t think I’ve been in this fandom long enough to say that those won’t be my favorite ships in a few years. I don’t think they’ll grow on me but I also said that Daryl would never grow on me, and the same with Negan, soooo I’m not going to make the mistake of using those words ever again LOL.
I can say for TWD though that Daryl Dixon x Leah Shaw, Negan Smith x Alpha, and.. whew… Bethyl aren’t ever gonna be something I like. You’re gonna get me killed here. But Beth Greene x Daryl Dixon is almost exactly the same age gap as Amanda and I were, and you were already my friend when that whole mess happened so I’m sure that comes as no surprise to you. (Amanda is my ex girlfriend?? who was 38 when I was 15, fun time 😀). And Daryl was I believe 41 while Beth was 18 so that’s quite literally the same number of years. 23. No ty. It doesn’t nauseate me because she’d be an adult but I do try to avoid reading it; my mutuals can talk about it though if they want for all I care. I do in fact believe that Beth had a crush on Daryl and just wouldn’t have pursued him, looked for those traits elsewhere.
