There’s a fic on fanfiction(.)net that I’ve kept tabs on for years to see if it’s been updated or not. While I’m no longer even in the fandom it’s written for, it just has one of the greatest storylines I’ve ever read. Last time it was updated was 2011.
The other day, I decided to reread the entire thing and leave a very in-depth review of what I thought of each chapter. I also mentioned how I started reading it when I was 13 and am now 21, but always came back to see if it was ever finished because I loved it so dearly.
Today, said author sent me a private message saying that her analytics showed that the story was still getting views even after all these years, but no one ever bothered to leave reviews other than “update soon!!!”, so she never felt motivated enough to finish it. She said that me reviewing every single chapter with lengthy paragraphs made her cry and meant the world to her. She also mentioned that she felt encouraged to write the two remaining chapters needed to complete the story and that she would send me a message the night before she updates the fic.
I’m literally sobbing. I’m so excited :’)
Please always remember to leave a review when reading fanfiction!!! It means a lot to a writer.

idk man, i just wanna write a fic that someone reads obsessively at 3am. a fic that someone loses sleep to finish because just one more chapter and tries to give multiple kudos. a fic that people will leave a comment on every chapter. i want to write a fic that people will recommend to others, that they think nails the characterization and relationship dynamic. i want to write someone’s comfort fic, someone’s favorite fic, or someone’s fic they read when they want to re-read something. i want to be that fic writer. i want to write that fic.

Random Tate and Violet Headcanons
Vi really likes Mac Demarco. She refuses to call it a "guilty pleasure" because that implies she feels bad about it, which she doesn't.
Their most recent date was to build a bear workshop where they made each other plushies.
He made her a black teddy bear with sunglasses and big boots and she made him an opossum.
Violet goes to all of Tate's track meets.
Tate likes midwest emo and does feel a little bit bad about it.
Violet loves listening to Tate talk. He could be going on and on about just about anything and she's perfectly happy to knit and listen.
They each wear one half of a heart shaped friendship necklace. Violets is around her neck, Tate's is laced through his left shoe.
Tate was held back a year and, as a result, is the oldest person in his class.
Violet's room has an almost outlandish number of house plants. On the window ledge, hanging, in pots on her desk— they're everywhere.
Violet is a vegetarian (every once in a while she'll eat fish or shrimp, but very rarely)
Shares a jewelry box, totally completely different taste in jewelry.
Tate puts a skittle in his pill organizer to have after he takes his meds. "It's like a reward," he says.
Overdressed girlfriend, boyfriend who wears effectively the same outfit everyday.

i feel like tate had the worst diet if you left him to his own devices. like his daily mealtimes would look like:
breakfast: two cups of coffee (taken from the pot constance made, of course) and a bowl of fruit loops if he's feeling functional, otherwise it's m&m's from his backpack on the way to school and a cigarette behind the building while he's supposed to be in first period
lunch: tate makes his own sandwiches and bags up snacks but doesn't own a lunch box, so he's sitting in the cafeteria pulling a ham sandwich, a baggie of oreos, and one incredibly bruised banana straight out of his backpack. there's crumbs on the banana peel.
dinner: gotta be real, constance actually made dinner and shit so he'd get that meal in unless he's caused a scene or is just feeling the Teen Angst. then he's upstairs eating chips for dinner and blasting thrash metal with his door locked. after this, sometimes he'll go and raid the fridge when everyone else is asleep.
