now that the year is ending, let's take a look at, how I wrote the relationship between HN characters in the past 5 years.
the funny thing is, everyone has different relationships and I really like writing these and experimenting. separating storylines and creating new ones. maybe because I'm a writer!

🍓Neighbor and Nicky(Player) OPTION 1: lovers. this is entirely crack ship and headcanons based, it has little to nothing to do with any canon. if I had to put it short, then it's the sassy Neighbor from the early era and the Player character. not nicky for sure. the way the original fandom wrote them. usually the "I chase my prey in a big house, because he keeps breaking in, we're addicted to each other because we're both lonely, and I catch him" base plot. nothing more, people often read too much into it. I have quite a few au's (my first ever au, where Nicky was a journalist, other au's where Nicky takes the role of prealpha player entirely, but I still call him Nicky because yes. The return is a strong exception from all of these, that's my only AU, which is based on the final storyline of HN and happens when the act 3 opening happens. that's the only AU I have, where Nicky is actually Nicky from the og HN game. it was actually hard to write it)
🍓Neighbor and Nicky(Player) OPTION 2: this is an entirely separated option and universe from the first one. would say even, that the characters are entirely different, and my writings show it. it strongly connects to the beta3 family storyline. Nicky is obviously not Nicky here either, because during that storyline, Player was different. I can separate stories and relationships and characters, because so could the HN canon and I'm no different from it; however, Nicky is strongly headcanon based here too, because we don't know his actual personality in beta3. this second option shows the same bodies, with different souls; they're a family. they're related, they don't like each other but a generational trauma connects them. (examples are The kri origins and a few more unreleased AU's, in which they're blood related. I wrote only a few, despite I really like the beta3 storyline.) this option obviously focuses on them as a family, and how they're trying to put their differences aside to function as one, just like in the beta 3 storyline. option 1 and 2 never connect, but I think it's needless to say it.
🍓Smith and HGQuentin: allies. I think in all of my au's, these two are either allies, friends, or a couple. but allies for sure. I'm aware that Smith and Quentin wasn't going to have the best relationship in the canon, that's partly why Smentin exists to begin with. smith is a loner on purpose and Quentin is just an unlucky, loveable loner. in the AS rewritten plot, Quentin is simply on Smiths side, but there are AU's in which these two aren't the center of attention, there it's up to the reader to decide things. but they're allies for sure.
🍓HGQuentin and Neighbor: I mean the HG Quentin here, because I separate Quentins as well. I think I have one HG au, where they're strangers, everywhere else, they're the way Ike Gershowitz and Theodore were in the books. a brother-like relationship, which is trust based "you can always count on me" type. best friends since childhood, but they never argue, because you can't argue with a sweetheart like Quentin.
🍓Smith and Bea: they dislike each other.
🍓Smith and Neighbor: they hate each other. so much, you can't leave them in the same room, because one would murder another. in the Kri origins, Smith and Neighbor are forced to get along, because Smith and Quentin are together and Neighbor and Quentin are like brothers.
🍓Quentin and Beatrix: siblings. or have a sibling-like relationship. it doesn't mean that Bea doesn't look down on Quentin or doesn't find him weird, but I strongly keep the sibling thing, ever since they were introduced. AND MY OH MY!✨
🍓Beatrix and Neighbor: platonic. this one is a very interesting thing to write and think about. I can't see them as a couple with sexual stuff(this doesn't mean that I'll never try writing an au), but in general, I can strongly see them having a thing for each other vice versa. Neighbor is strong and hot af, and Bea wants to hold onto strong men and bond with them. she avoids the hints (Neighbor would surely nonstop flirt with her) but is thankful for the man's loyalty.
🍓Nicky and Smith: they interact in exactly one story so far, and it's the Kri origins. Nicky/Player is an adult there too. they seem to be fine with each other, both of them knowing that Neighbor is just something else. but it's nothing special. would say, they're neutral.
🍓journalist!Quentin and Neighbor: they dislike each other. Quentin's relationship with others is kinda the same as HG Quentin's. despite I think that Norman Darby was HN2 Quentin at some early point, I usually separate Darby and include him as different character.
🍓journalist!Quentin and Smith: enemies to lovers. not exactly, but in short, maybe that's the most fitting sentence. they're rivals, enemies, they don't have the chemistry that HGQuentin and Smith absolutely has in HG. and I can turn them into allies/lovers, but it's much harder to do so. journalist is nowhere as innocent as HGQ was.
I have one more interesting headcanon, which is that Gerda and Beatrix had a fight, and Gerda ended up killing her. that's how she owns Imbir now.

Using MicroED for molecule conformations
This publication highlight is part of the SBGrid/Meharry Medical College Communities Project, focused on science education and demonstrating how structural biology and preclinical science connect to medicine.
Microcrystal electron diffraction (MicroED) is an emerging technique that has been shown to determine the solid-state structure of small molecules and small proteins in microcrystals. The ability to gain structural insight from microcrystals allows for a lower burden on crystallographers and opens a new range of target molecules that were previously unavailable due to their inability to form high-quality crystals. One such molecule is the commonly prescribed drug Mirabegron. Mirabegron is used to treat overactive bladder symptoms, yet a high quality structure of the molecule has eluded scientists due to its powdery crystalline state. SBGrid member Dr. Tamir Gonen, from UCLA, was able to determine a structure of Mirabegron using MicroED and sample a stable conformer state of this important drug.

In a study published last month in Advanced Science, Prof. Gonen was able to show that Mirabegron has two distinct conformer states, a cis and trans, in a low energy crystal. This lattice unit is held together using a myriad of interactions between Mirabegron molecules, but a majority of the attraction is due to the demand to bury hydrophobic regions. While this arrangement is low energy and highly stable, it does not appear to be the conformer state found upon binding to target sites in proteins. The image above shows that Mirabegron buries deep into binding sites on proteins, and to do this it would need to go through a large conformational change from the states sampled in MicroED. These insights help to push forward our knowledge of the Mirabegron mechanism of action and could help describe the off-target effects of this drug.

Utilizing harmful apps has the potential to be risky, and untested apps could include faults that expose the data of your company.

It all started freshman year. Beta1 wasn't really close with their roommate, but made fast friends with a pair of artsy omegas in their intro to painting class, and then of course had a crush on Beta2 who was the RA upstairs. Omega1 had sort of an obsession with Alpha1 who is like a crazy talented pianist and would always practice in one of the rooms near their painting studio. Of course it just so happened that Alpha1 and Beta2 used to be in the same friend group freshman year but drifted apart, but thanks to this whole mess they become fast friends again. Omega2 loves collecting "strays" so they befriend Alpha2 and Beta3, a couple of quieter students who work in the library and the cafe (respectively) and bring them along to.
By the end of Beta1's freshman year the seven of them are all closer than they ever could've imagined. Sure there have been a few awkward moments, and of course some weird moments with power dynamics but over all, it's the beginning of a super tight knit pack.
They all dream of the future, a few of them aspire to live in the city, while others in the country, but they all know and agree that before long they will all find their way back to each other and settle down. Maybe they'll bring new mates with them, or maybe they'll fall in love with each other. The reality is that it will probably be a little bit of both, and that's cool too.

Let's get Scientific: Reality is Energy

In the nature of physics, everything that seems solid is merely energy vibrating at a slower rate. Examined at microscopic levels, solid matter is made up of particles that are perpetually in motion.
Everything we can touch, hear, see, taste, and smell is simply energy in different forms being perceived by our senses- but not limited to what we can measure with our senses.
We cannot perceive or see all energy around us. Magnetic fields, radiation, and ultraviolet light are examples. Animals, however, possess more ability to hear and see things the common human can't.

At the root of all our thoughts, emotions and behaviors are the communication between neurons within our brains. Brainwaves are produced by synchronized electrical pulses from masses of neurons communicating with each other.
Each brainwave state is named after a Greek letter and is measured by the cycles per second called hertz.
The five brainwave states: gamma, beta, alpha, theta, and delta. By learning to alter our brainwave states we learn to alter our consciousness.
GAMMA WAVES (38 TO 42 HZ):
Gamma brainwaves are the fastest of brain waves (high frequency, like a flute), and relate to the simultaneous processing of information from different brain areas. Gamma brainwaves pass information rapidly and quietly. The most subtle of the brainwave frequencies, the mind has to be quiet to access gamma.
Gamma was dismissed as 'spare brain noise' until researchers discovered it was highly active when in states of universal love, altruism, and the higher virtues. Gamma is also above the frequency of neuronal firing, so how it is generated remains a mystery. It is speculated that gamma rhythms modulate perception and consciousness and that a greater presence of gamma relates to expanded consciousness and spiritual emergence

BETA WAVES (12 TO 38 HZ):
Beta brainwaves dominate our normal waking state of consciousness when attention is directed towards cognitive tasks and the outside world. Beta is a ‘fast’ activity, present when we are alert, attentive, engaged in problem-solving, judgment, decision making, or focused mental activity.
Beta brainwaves are further divided into three bands; Lo-Beta (Beta1, 12-15Hz) can be thought of as a 'fast idle, or musing. Beta (Beta2, 15-22Hz) is a high engagement or actively figuring something out. Hi-Beta (Beta3, 22-38Hz) is a highly complex thought, integrating new experiences, high anxiety, or excitement. Continual high-frequency processing is not a very efficient way to run the brain, as it takes a tremendous amount of energy.

ALPHA WAVES (8 TO 12 HZ):
Alpha brainwaves are dominant during quietly flowing thoughts and in some meditative states. Alpha is the power of now, being here, in the present. Alpha is the resting state of the brain. Alpha waves aid overall mental coordination, calmness, alertness, mind/body integration, and learning.

THETA WAVES (3 TO 8 HZ):
Theta brainwaves occur most often in sleep but are also dominant in deep meditation. Theta is our gateway to learning, memory, and intuition. In theta, our senses are withdrawn from the external world and focused on signals originating from within. It is that twilight state which we normally only experience fleetingly as we wake or drift off to sleep. In theta, we are in a dream; vivid imagery, intuition, and information beyond our normal conscious awareness. It’s where we hold our ‘stuff’, our fears, troubled history, and nightmares.

DELTA WAVES (.5 TO 3 HZ):
Delta brainwaves are slow, loud brainwaves (low frequency and deeply penetrating, like a drumbeat). They are generated in deepest meditation and dreamless sleep. Delta waves suspend external awareness and are the source of empathy. Healing and regeneration are stimulated in this state, and that is why deep restorative sleep is so essential to the healing process
