Just like I did when I was 16
Such a fool for you

Top Albums of 2023
Top Albums of 2023

What a year. Exciting new artists burst onto the scene. Classic bands returned to form. There were reunions, both expected and surprises. All genres showed up with something to prove, or to destroy the very definition of genre they had established.
From Dec 2022 – Nov 2023 (since we drop this list in December, and don’t want to disservice any artists with Dec releases), these are our Top Albums…

So Spotify shuffle is coming for my throat with a "okay I acknowledge this was probably written about a romantic relationship but it's not explicitly romantic so I can comfortably say...Vash and Knives..." throwback banger

Wet Leg - "Wet Leg"
This album has such a 2010 indie rock vibe, and I think I'll like it more on repeat listens, but for now there's something that doesn't quite connect for me. It always SOUNDS good and it draws inspiration from many different places, but at times I find lead singer Rhian Teasdale's voice overly bright. The lyrics sway between feeling unnecessarily repetitive and absurd (which works at times and doesn't at other times). I think this will unlock for me at some point, but this is where we are now.
.
genre: indie rock, post-punk, alt rock, Britpop, pop punk, indie pop
year released: 2022
personal rating: 8 (out of 10)
standout songs: "Being in Love", "Wet Dream", "Supermarket", "Too Late Now"
.
Why this album? This album was listed as one of the best albums of 2022 by Alternative Press, Billboard, Exclaim!, the Guardian, NME, NPR, Rolling Stone, Paste, and Stereogum.
