Fluffy Dialogue Prompts #10
“Text me when you’re safe at home.” for Reggie & Ray (alive modern AU setting)
Reggie lingers in the kitchen long after dinner is over and the dishes have been washed and put away.
He doesn’t want to go home. He may as well admit it. At least in the privacy of his own head. He really doesn’t want to go home.
And he’s pretty sure Julie knows how bad things have gotten lately, because she keeps causally mentioning the empty guest bedroom upstairs.
He thinks even Ray can see through his endless questions about cameras and lenses and lighting, because it’s nearing 10 o’clock and they both are barely containing their yawns, but he doesn’t tell Reggie to leave.
“I should probably head home,” Reggie whispers reluctantly. But what he means is, “I wish this was my home,” and “I’m scared,” and “If I told you the truth would you let me stay?”
And Ray say, “Text me when you’re safe at home.” Even if what he wants to say is, “Don’t go back there,” and, “Please stay,” and, “I’ve always wanted another son.”
But he doesn’t.
So Reggie leaves. And when Ray’s phone chimes fifteen minutes later with a cheery “Home 🙃” it does nothing to ease Ray’s mind.
Because Ray is pretty sure Reggie’s home isn’t safe. But until he has proof, until Reggie is ready to talk to him, he doesn’t know what to do about it.

Julie and Luke's Book of Dares
Tumblr media
Imagine this. You’re in your favorite bookstore, scanning the shelf where your favorite books reside, and there… nestled between the familiar spines sits a red notebook.
Imagine you’re in New York and it’s Christmas. You’re surrounded by people, by possibility and the hope that somewhere in the city is that one person meant for you.
You just have to find them.
How do you do that?
It all depends on the kind of person you are.

Okay, my love language is giving handmade gifts, and so is Julie’s.
Everyone’s seen Julie’s hand-drawn mic that she uses for absolutely everything. That was a gift from her mom, and Julie liked the idea of handmade gifts having way more significance than a store bought gift. So, she showers Ray, Carlos, Tía, Rose, Flynn, and eventually, Luke, Alex, and Reggie with handmade gifts as well. She loves them, and that’s how she shows it.
—Family edition—
Ray
Ray Molina learned how to cook soon after his wife passed away. But, since he didn’t know shit about food, and the few times he had attempted cooking, he’d almost burned down the house. So, after his wife passes away, he experiments A LOT, and Julie and Carlos end up being his test subjects. The first few weeks are slow, because he doesn’t feel like being in the kitchen since it reminded him so much of Rose. But, he bucks up, and he starts cooking. Every meal he makes, he calls Carlos and Julie and asks them to taste and rate it, and some days, they would try and cook together. As a beginner, Ray lost a lot of T-shirts by spilling sauce on it, or accidentally burning off one end (that’s a whole other story).
Julie knew how much her father was struggling. He had just lost his wife, and he did not have time to grieve because he had to take care of her and Carlos. Julie was so grateful to him, but she couldn’t find the words to tell him. How was she supposed to let a man, who dropped everything in the world— including his job and own time to process emotions — know that she was so thankful of his presence and his efforts?
So, one day, when Flynn takes her to a grocery/home store (because Flynn 100% likes roaming the aisles for no reason), Julie finds a plain, light yellow apron. She immediately buys it, because its the first time her brain is doing something other than missing her mom. And she needs to move, she’s feeling restless at that point.
As soon as she goes home, she’s locked herself in her room. She pulls out her paints and brushes, and a pencil and an eraser (rubber) to outline a rough image. As soon as she was satisfied with the rough drawing, she started painting, and then she was outlining, and she spent three hours losing herself in art, because if not art, then what else? And anything was better than a conversation with Dr Turner.
She was done painting at 2 in the morning, and then she had to let it dry. She didn’t get much sleep that night, her mind was running. Every hour, she would check the the apron, make sure the paint hadn’t smudged. At 5 in the morning, she did a final outline and detailing that she had left to do, until she was proud of what she had made.
The next morning, when she went downstairs, Ray lightened up at her sight and asked, “Mija, would you be okay with Spaghetti for lunch? I made too much last night,”
“Of course, dad,”
Ray had noticed her quietness. How could he not, he’s the best damn father. “What’s wrong?”
“Oh. Uh, nothing. I kinda made you something,” Julie handed him the folded apron.
Ray opened the apron, letting it fall in the air so that he could see the whole thing. He was stunned for a second, before he let out a teary laugh. He pulled Julie in a hug, repeating, “I love you” over and over.
His apron had bubbly, colourful letters spelling “The Spaghetti Master” with a spaghetti plate turned over the S, and dripping over the M and A.
Carlos
As a child, Carlos was a little (a lot) jealous of the relationship Julie had with their mom. Rose and Ray were excellent parents, no doubt. I meant look at their kids. But, Carlos sometimes felt like his sister loved everyone else more than him. He tried to seem indifferent to it, and tried to not let it bother him so much, but come on, he’s a kid, its gonna bother him.
He didn’t wanna say anything to Julie, because he didn’t want his sister to pity him. No, please. He was seven and he could handle himself just fine. He didn’t need no one, no thank you.
That’s a lie.
He needed his sister, and his mom, and his dad, and his tía. He didn’t like showing them that he needed him, though. Why? I don’t know.
But, his sister is observant (when she wants to be), and she knew her little brother had something going in his mind that he won’t tell her. And she did not like that. Carlos and Julie were siblings and would tell each other everything. Periodt.
But, since Julie didn’t know what was going on in her brother’s head, she didn’t know how to help him. She tried to talking to him, but he always seemed dismissive, and yeah, ngl, that hurt a little bit. But, Julie was determined to make her brother happy again.
She didn’t have a lot of money to buy the new game that he wanted. She only had the little coins in her piggy bank, and a little bit of monthly allowance that her parents gave her. She had to do something out of the little money she had.
So, after school, she decides to go to the stationary. Maybe, she’ll find something there for Carlos? She doubted it, but she had to try. Anything for her brother.
As she looked around the shop, she came across threads that seemed strong enough to not break if she pulled them. An idea formed in her head, and she decided to buy his favourite colour and her favourite colour.
Rushing home, she barely greeted her parents before running to her room. She had her scissors, a cello-tape, and a jewellery clasp that she found in her drawers on her table spread out so that everything was in reach.
With her head bent down, and her shoulders hunched, music played in the background as she worked on a simple plait design, using the two colours she got for the two of them, and repeating one colour in both for the third string, so that they could differentiate which bracelet was for who.
Julie had missed dinner, but once she’d told her mom that what she was doing was way more important than food at that moment, Rose did not disturb the girl. She could hear Carlos playing video games and him screaming at their father for cheating (Ray was terrible at video games, Carlos was worse. But he got better with Reggie, Alex and Luke).
Once she was done, she ran down the stairs.
“Hey, Mija! Hungry?” Ray asked, smiling at the girl.
“Afterwards, dad. Need to do something super important.” She turned to Carlos and said, “Come with me,”
Carlos shrugged and followed his sister to the studio. He didn’t know what she wanted, but he was glad he was getting to spend some time with his sister.
Standing outside the studio, Julie turned to Carlos and said, “You’ve been feeling down lately, and I don’t know why. I wanted to cheer you up, so I made you something just for the two of us.” She opened her hand and showed him the bracelets she had made. “One for you and one for me. This way, whatever is going on in your head, you can look at this and look at this and know that I’m always here for you.”
Carlos hugged her, wrapping his arms around her. Julie hugged him back, holding him tightly. The two slowly pulled back and clasped the bracelet onto each other’s wrists, promising to never remove it.
Tía
Tía had been a part of Julie’s life for as long as she could remember. It was only when Rose was in the hospital, that she started seeing her Tía more frequently.
Rose had told Julie that Tía tended to forget to take care of herself when she was taking care of others. Julie could see the truth in that. For instance, when Julie stayed up because of mid terms and Rose and Ray were in the hospital, Tía used to stay up for as long as Julie did, and came every hour or so with coffee, or something to eat so that Julie could stay energised and awake.
The day her midterms were over, Julie and Tía had taken the longest nap together, cuddled on the couch in the Molina household.
When Rose was admitted in the hospital the first time, Ray and Victoria had spent half their time with the kids, and the other half with Rose. They kept alternating, and it was getting exhausting for all of them. So, they eventually decided that Ray will take care of Rose when she was in the hospital, and Victoria would stay with the kids during the day.
It worked well for Carlos and Julie, because that meant delicious, authentic food all day, and a mother figure to help them when they needed.
Whenever Julie or Carlos wanted to cry because they were scared or worried or just missed their mother, Victoria was always there, hugging them, soothing them, cheering them up. Julie would always be grateful for that. She had seen many times when her Tía comforted Ray after Rose’s death.
A few months after Rose passed away, Julie realised that her tía hadn’t been taking care of her as well as she should. She had heard her tía late at night, or early in the mornings, cooking for them. She had heard her tía cleaning around, comforting everyone, just trying to bring a positive ray of sunshine when none of them felt like it.
Julie knew that her tía missed Rose too. She had heard her crying a few times, clutching a picture of the two women together. She had noticed how sometimes tía would walk out of the room in the middle of a movie, or something, making an excuse. Her tía needed to take care of herself, and grieve on her own time as well, and Julie felt guilty for stealing away that time.
So, on a weekend, Julie and Flynn went to the mall, buying all the lotions, face masks, nail paints, and oils that Victoria liked. They searched for her favourite candies and drinks. The two girls made cards for Victoria, thanking her for all her support. They even went to Build-A-Bear and got a cute little bear for Victoria, with a dahlia on the T-shirt of the bear.
When they reached home, Julie quickly assembled everything in a pretty basket, while Flynn looked for pretty ribbons or something of that sort to decorate the basket. When they finally managed to cover the basket and tie a bow with a net sort of thingy, the two took it downstairs to where her tía was loading leftovers in the fridge.
“Tia?”
“Yes, Mija? oh, what it is this? It’s beautiful!”
“This is your self-care package. You’ve been taking care of all of us for a long, long time, and you were always there for us whenever we needed you. Now, its time for you to take care of yourself, and give yourself attention!”
Victoria had stared at the two girls for a moment, before bursting into tears. She had hugged Julie and Flynn tightly, touched at the thoughtfulness of the girls.
Julie’s guilt had reduced, seeing her tía taking care of herself.
Rose
Rose and Julie had a habit of doodling on their new sneakers, whatever colour they may be. It was another way of bonding for the two of them. The first time Rose and Julie had doodled on their shoes was then Julie was four years old, and had come home, complaining about her teacher who had scolded her in front of the entire class for drawing on her shoes. Julie had tears in her eyes, and Rose refused to accept her little baby crying.
So, the next day, when Rose went to pick Julie up from school, the mother daughter duo had matching doodled sneakers to show off to Julie’s rude rude teacher. The teacher had taken one look at Rose’s shoes, and shut up about people letting their creativity flow. (Thank God, cause we don’t need people like that)
When Julie turned 14, and her mother had been in and out of the hospital for long enough to become an everyday activity (it never should’ve come to that, but Rose needed the doc’s help, and every time she got better, she got worse), her mother had been complaining once how her hospital slippers were plain and boring, and the doctors won’t let her do anything because too much movement or force on the brain made her lose consciousness, and no one wanted that.
One night, her father had stayed at the hospital with her mother, and Tía had been babysitting Carlos and Julie. Julie was in her parents’ room, because she missed her mom. Also, it was partly her house, she was allowed to be in that room. As she flopped on the bed, and rolled over to her mom’s side, she noticed the plain, boring hospital slippers.
Grabbing her markers, Julie quickly set to doodle on her mom’s slippers. She made intricate designs, with flowers and ghosts and mushrooms here and there. She didn’t know what else she could draw quickly, so Julie stuck to the basics that she knew.
The next day, Ray entered the house, looking for the slippers. Julie had simply handed the bag with Rose’s slippers, and he headed out.
Later that day, Ray sent a picture of Rose showing off her new, doodled slippers, and smiling at the camera. The caption read, “She’s been showing it to everyone who enters the room. Thank you, Julie <3”
It’s one of the happiest memories Julie has from her mom being in the hospital.
This is longer than I expected it to be, so I’m gonna post a separate Friends edition to this!

14 ("Across the room smiles") or 16 ("The “I’m in love with you and can’t stop grinning like an idiot” smile ") for the cute smiles juke prompts, please. :) (Can't decide. Both are too good.)
this was requested way too long ago but I’ve been in a severe writing slump so it took me too long 🥲 anyway, these prompts are from this post by @me-writes-prompts !! I thought I wanted to take requests but I quickly found out I do not have the bandwidth 😅 so here is a cute lil juke fic in the meantime! it is a mess but it is Juke so oh well. I also couldn’t choose one prompt so I did both and that’s why this is so long 😌
~
Julie would never get tired of this.
The sound of different voices overlapping and lots of laughter filled the room. She watched as her dad showed Willie the various features in his newest camera, Willie listening with rapt attention.
In the kitchen, Tía was bustling around and giving Reggie instructions as he tried to keep up with the many years of cooking some of the best meals Julie has ever tasted under her belt.
Flynn and Carlos were setting the table together, chatting about who knows what.
It’s become a tradition to spend their birthdays all together. One they’ve carried since they were kids—lost teenagers just trying to make it big in the music industry. Back when Julie met Luke, Reggie and Alex and they immediately became part of the Molina family which already consisted of her Dad, Carlos, Victoria and Flynn. Flynn introduced Alex to Willie and their family was pretty close to complete.
The warm rush of love that flooded her system was something she never got tired of.
And now as she watched their family get ready for her birthday dinner, Julie couldn’t be happier with the way her life was turning out.
She watched as Luke walked into the dining room, tapped Carlos on his left shoulder as he passed him, and swiped his finger through the frosting on the cake tía made.
Just as Luke successfully licked the frosting off his finger, Carlos caught on to Luke’s antics and it turned into both boys trying to put the other in a headlock.
Flynn rolled her eyes and continued setting the table but Julie could see a small, fond smile grace her face.
Luke ended up overpowering the younger boy, much to Carlos’s dismay but they both laughed as Luke let him get back to his task. It was when he took a step back and Julie could tell he was also surveying the room and the people he loved all in one space, that his eyes finally caught hers.
His smile is bright and soft at the same time, lighting up his features and simultaneously making her insides turn to mush.
“Mija, deja de mirar a tu novio,” Victoria called from the kitchen. “Your father and I need you in the kitchen, por favor.”
Julie felt her cheeks burn. She glanced back at Luke, his smile turning amused and he shot her a wink as she made her way into the kitchen.
But the light and airy feeling she got from Luke quickly dissipated when she saw her dad and aunt bent together talking seriously. It’s eerily reminiscent of a time she was still all too familiar with, the day her parents sat her down to tell her Rose was sick.
“Papí? What’s going on?”
“Julie! Nothing, mija,” Ray startled, waving a hand in the air. “We just wanted to talk with you.”
“Is everything okay?”
“Of course, sobrina,” Victoria assured her. “We’re just so proud of you and the woman you’ve become.”
“You’ve grown up so beautifully, and I know your mom would be so proud of you too,” Ray agreed. “Especially in the way you’ve formed a band with the boys and created a wonderful life for yourself.”
Julie nodded, their words comforting but also making her heart ache at the reminder of the many milestones her mother didn’t get to see. Where were they going with this?
“And we couldn’t be happier for you, that you’ve found such a wonderful partner in Luke,” Victoria said.
She smiled at the mention of Luke. “I’m glad you feel that way.” Julie glanced back and forth between them, still not quite sure what was going on. “Where are you two going with this?” It wasn’t entirely out of character for them to be saying any of this, but it seemed almost out of nowhere.
“Mija it’s your birthday, can’t your old dad get a little emotional?” Ray teased.
“My birthday was a few days ago,” she corrected with a teasing smile before she pulled them both into a hug. “I love you guys…. even when you act weird.”
They both chuckled before Julie pulled back and a hand sliding into place on the small of her back made her jump.
She turned to see Luke waiting for her, eyes sparkling with something she couldn’t decipher. “Hey Jules. Follow me?” He slipped his hand into hers without waiting for an answer (it was always yes and he knew that) and led her through the door to the backyard.
“Luke, what’s going on?”
“Have I told you how insanely talented I think you are?”
“Only when you’re deflecting,” she shot back, and the shit eating grin he sent her should’ve annoyed her, but it only made butterflies swoop in her belly.
“You mean you don’t want to write in the studio the way we used to?”
Julie raised a curious brow at him even as they continued to walk through the yard toward the gate that led to the garage turned studio. “Oh yeah? And what song are you working on?”
“A really special one,” he told her over his shoulder as they walked through the gate and made their way down the stairs. “I want your opinion on it.”
Julie remembered the countless times they made this exact walk as teenagers, when Luke would rush into her room or even up to her locker at school going on excitedly about a song or an idea he had.
Or the many times she snuck out here in high school because she knew Luke was taking refuge in the studio, away from his parents and the constant arguing that plagued their home.
Or any time he met her out there, all the band practices they had, writing sessions like he’d just mentioned, or when she missed her mom so much, Luke would bring her out here to cuddle up and talk or nap together. She always felt closest to her mom in the studio and to share so many wonderful memories of Luke and the boys there meant so much to her.
It truly was a magical, happy place for Julie and for their relationship.
Despite this, when they finally reached the doors and Luke pulled them open, Julie’s jaw still dropped in shock.
Twinkling lights were strung from the ceiling, just barely touching the chairs hanging from the ceiling. White sheets were draped around the studio to cover the walls, with numerous candles and flower petals scattered across every surface creating a warm glow from inside.
It was the most beautiful the studio had ever looked in her memory. She walked further inside, still in awe that Luke did it. It must’ve taken him so long to set it all up and find the time in between their recording schedule to sneak out here and put it together.
Julie turned toward the man in question only to find him down on one knee. “Luke,” she breathed, her hand covering her mouth. She shouldn’t be surprised. They’d both discussed marriage and their future and both agreed they wanted that together. She just didn’t think it was happening now.
He gently took her free hand and squeezed. “Julie, I have loved you since the minute I saw you sitting in the back of Harrison’s class sophomore year. And then you immediately called me out because I didn’t recognize a Paramore song another kid was performing.”
She giggled at the memory, remembering her outrage that Luke couldn’t identify Misery Business. “How can you be in a pop rock band if you don’t know Paramore??”
“I know now!” His eyes sparkled with amusement that matched her own. “Little did I know then that as soon as we became friends, it was over for me. You have made me a better person, a better writer and a better musician and I hope to continue to do the same for you. I can’t imagine living out my dreams with anyone else.” Luke reached into his pocket and pulled out a small velvet box, carefully opening it to reveal a familiar, simple princess cut diamond ring.
It was her mother’s ring, glittering in the light of the studio and as beautiful as Julie remembered.
Her eyes flickered from the ring to Luke’s face. “How did you… where did you get this?” Even as the words left her mouth, she already knew the answer.
“Your dad said you’ve been eyeing this ring since you were old enough to talk,” Luke said as he plucked it from the box and held it up to her. “He knew your mom would want you to have it now.”
Julie felt tears prick the corner of her eyes, her grief attempting to make itself known once again. If only her mom was here, waiting inside the house with the rest of her family to celebrate with them. To plan the wedding, calm her nerves the day off, walk her down the aisle with her dad. But Julie knew her mom would be there with her, just like she always was. “If there’s a will, there’s a way,” Rose would always tell her.
Her dad and tía’s behavior suddenly made sense too. Why hadn’t she realized sooner??? She could be upset with Flynn for not clueing her in sooner…
But how could she feel anything but bone crushing, all consuming love for the man in front of her?
“I know you miss your mom, Jules,” he said, as if to prove the point she hadn’t even voiced out loud. “I know you wish she were here, and I do too. But the best I can do is to bring you here where I know you feel closest to her.”
Luke was her musical partner, her co-writer, her rock, her best friend, her comfort, and her home. She wanted all of him: the good and bad and whatever life threw at them. Julie wanted Luke by her side forever, and she was sure Rose would approve.
“Julie, baby,” Luke addressed her finally. “Will you marry me?”
She nodded as a few tears escaped down her cheek. “Yes! Yes, of course, I will.”
Luke’s grew so big she was sure it had to hurt his face. He slid the ring onto her finger before standing up to cup her face. “These are happy tears, yeah?” His thumb swiped them away.
Julie laughed, albeit shaky and nodded again. “Yes, Luke.”
“Good because otherwise me kissing you in a minute is gonna be a little awkward,” he joked before leaning in to capture her lips with his own.
She pulled back after a beat, pressing her forehead to his. “I love you too, you know.”
Luke’s eyes opened, glancing at her expression before a familiar smile takes over his face once more.
“What?” she asked, a mirroring smile blooming across her face.
“I’m just so in love with you. I can’t believe how lucky I am that I’m the Julie Molina’s fiancé.”
Her responding eye roll is lost in the mess of kisses Luke presses over her face.

Hello, I heard you say that people don't send you many asks anymore, that needs to be changed immediately!!
Can I request a high school au with sticky notes? Something short and fluffy?
Okay, love you, byeeee!!! 💖💖💖
Gentlepeople of the world, may I present my lovely fiance? I love you so muchhhh! Thank youuuu! And yes of course you may! I love me some sticky notes!
Willie catches one glimpse of Julie on her way to class and reaches for the pad of sticky notes in their backpack. Her hunched shoulders and oversized blue and black flannel(probably Ray's) illustrate how she's feeling more than any words could. No time to catch her in the passing period, but he can probably get to her locker before she does after history.
They slide into their seat just as the bell rings. Reggie shoots him a smile from his spot a few seats over. Willie returns it, and doesn't miss the big A written at the top of the quiz Mr. Hood hands him a minute later. Willie's only has a B+, but he's happy with it. Mr. Hood starts talking about some club thing after that, so Willie sets his pad of sticky notes down just inside their desk to write. They have a few to write since this morning.
A hype up note for Julie, along with a dumb joke to make her smile on her bad day.
A good luck note to Carrie for her dance performance this afternoon.
A congrats note to Reggie for his history grade, which Willie knows he worked hard for.
A reminder to Luke that they're all doing dinner at the Molinas' tonight, cause he always forgets that kind of thing.
Willie's not sure when exactly it became A Thing, them writing notes to their friends and leaving them in their lockers throughout the day. His dad is probably to blame for the start of it. Caleb started putting notes in his lunchboxes less than a year after Willie had come to live with him. Usually reminders about appointments or best wishes for tests, but sometimes they just said "I love you" in the magician's curly, elegant handwriting.
So when Willie finally made friends, it only made sense to start writing the same notes to them.
He carefully folds the notes and tucks them into his pocket for later. As fun as it would be to ask for a bathroom pass and just happen to pass all his friends' lockers on the way, they'd gotten in trouble for that a couple of times already this year. He should probably try and pay attention.
After class finally ends, they dart out of the room. He's not sure he'll be able to get everyone before they reach their lockers, but he's certainly going to try.
When he's finished and stops for a second at his own locker, Willie is greeted by Alex's soft smile as the drummer leans against his own locker. Willie doesn't dare press his own lips against Alex's, they aren't really out as a couple at school, but they return his grin and brush their fingers against his on the way to his locker handle.
"How was history?" Alex asks.
"Same old," Willie responds with a shrug. "Bunch of straight white guys making up rules and ruining everyone else's lives."
"Youch, sounds like fun," Alex says sarcastically just as Willie swings his locker open.
Willie steps back, startled, as a bunch of slips of paper fall out of their locker. They're all little squares, uniform in size if not in color. And now they're on the floor all around their feet.
"Whoops," Alex mutters, dropping to his knees and starting to gather the papers.
Willie quickly joins him on the floor and scoops up a few of the slips. It takes the two of them a minute to gather them all. Just as they finish, the bell rings.
Alex swears under his breath and hands his stack of paper to Willie. "I gotta get to class, sorry," he says, offering a smile before hurrying off.
Willie stuffs the papers into his back pocket and slams his locker shut. At least he's already close to their English classroom. A quick dash later, he's sliding into his seat just as the teacher calls his name for roll call.
With trying to pay attention in class and not get distracted by the spring leaves on the tree outside, Willie totally forgets about the papers until study hall, his last period of the day.
They shift in their chair for the millionth time, trying to get comfortable. Their pocket just feels weird underneath him. Willie reaches back to make sure some old receipt didn't end up in there or something. But instead he finds a bunch of colorful sticky notes.
Willie frowns down at the crumpled slips. Sure, he slips notes into people's lockers all the time, but he doesn't get them back much. And never this many at once. He starts laying them out across his desk, grateful for a teacher who mostly ignores them the whole period.
Each paper has a single letter on it, which was odd, but they're all written in a very familiar hand. Willie smiles softly. Alex's awkward fumbling for them suddenly makes a lot more sense.
The letters are P, W, O, M, T, H, E, I, another M, and R, with a ? on the final note. Willie grins at the challenge and begins rearranging them into words. The worm? Moth prim? Their Mom?
Oh.
Willie feels like his heartbeat can probably be heard by the whole school as they fumble for their own notepad.
YES, I would LOVE to go to prom with you!!!! they write on the little blue paper. Though maybe this one can be a hand delivery, rather than being slipped into Alex's locker. It is the end of the day after all. No use leaving their boyfriend on pins and needles any longer.
Willie carefully tucks Alex's notes into a folder, probably looking like an idiot for how wide he's grinning but not caring in the slightest. Alex just asked him to prom! Which means coming out together. Being them. For the whole school to see.
Willie can't wait.

For the wip asks: Carrie has daddy issues <3 will probably Hurt Me In The Feels so plz tell us about is
Hehe so I have not actually started writing this one yet (actually I might have like one paragraph written) but it's going to be examining the idea that Carrie did not know anything about who Trevor was before he was Trevor Wilson, and her dealing with the anguish of seeing him come back to life as this Bobby person around the boys in a way she has never been able to bring out of him. Wondering why isn't she enough for him. Why can he be his best self around the boys and not her?
And then on the flip side, Luke is mad jealous of Carrie and they get in a fight about it. Luke is upset that Carrie knows his best friend better than he does bc she knows Trevor, while Carrie is upset that Luke knows her dad better than she does bc he knows Bobby. And then Ray, who has to be the voice of reason bc he was the only one to see Bobby grow into Trevor and therefore knows better than anyone that they are the same person, has to help them talk it out and realize that they shouldn't be jealous of each other, they should ask Trevor to help them get to know the side of him they're missing.
Here's the three paragraphs I have written below the cut!
Carrie’s Dad is nowhere near the person she thought he was, and somehow she’s expected to be okay with that.
It’s not like she didn’t know that there was some big mystery in his past. She learned a long time ago that any questions about his childhood would be met with evasive non-answers, so she just stopped asking. As far as she was concerned, it seemed like Trevor Wilson’s life began in 1995 when he met Ray and Rose Molina, though he would never tell her how exactly that happened.
She never would have guessed that it was because there was no Trevor Wilson before that. Only Bobby Shaw, and the three boys who, apparently, complete him more than Carrie ever could.

Propaganda below the cut!
Osvald V. Vanstein
i think it should be illegal for a man like that to talk about the “fire” in his “breast” so often AND have those things out 24/7. what a tease
Ray Molina
the best dad in the fucking world. ray molina is my mom <3 he loves and supports his daughter and all he wants is for her to be happy and be able to follow her music dreams but also not pressure her into doing music when she's grieving for however long she needs to. he was ready to move his entire ass home to a different home even though he loved the house and the memories he had there, because he thought it would help her daughter with her grieving process. and he asks before coming into her room and when leaving also asks if she wants him to close the door behind him

WIP TITLE GAME
RULES: post the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. Let people send you an ask with the title that most intrigues them, and then post a little snippet or tell them something about it! And then tag as many people as you have WIPs.
thanks @1mnobodywhoareyou for the tag!
oh. There's a lot. I haven't even written most of them n some are just indulgence. but there sure are 1 or 2 things i could talk abt some plots.

Julie, Carrie and Flynn bring sunset curve back to life and accidentally also bring willie back.
Bobby has a fight with his band, quits, becomes friend with a random group of girls, Flynn, Carrie and Kayla. Finds out their best friend is now best friend with his old best friends.
mermaid!willie and mermaid!julie
willie's ex comes back.
flynn dies and becomes a ghost
Julie is the one who died, not Rose. The boys live in the same time as her, and Bobby is the one who dies. Julie and Willie are besties and part of the hgc.
Carrie figures out the truth about Trevor Wilson and decides to side w Julie and her phantoms to prank him.
Some of these aren't even finished or beggined by the way. But i have them in my head and the descriptions are kinda long bc i forget what the story is about really easy.
Um. I don't even know that many people in the fandom who write. And the ones i know have already been tagged so i don't really have anyone to tag. But I'm sure on y'all asks reading those WIPs.

Title: Does anybody have a map?
It's a song title and a bit more of it goes:
Does anybody have a map
Anybody happen to know how the hell to do this
I don't know if you can tell but this is me just pretending to know.
Does Anyone Have A Map
After his wife died, Ray Molina did everything that was expected of him. He read all the self-help books. He got his kids into therapy, he went to grief support groups for himself, he expanded his cooking repertoire from 'Breakfast Food For Every Meal' to include pasta and salads and even the odd casserole. He was still grieving, they all were, but he was doing okay.
That was, until his daughter sat him down in her mom's old studio and proved to him that her holograms from Sweden were actually three ghosts from the 90s.
They didn't make self-help books for this.

Ray’s almost done bandaging the many cuts on his right hand by the time Reggie finds his voice, “I don’t understand,” he whispers. Ray pauses and looks up at him, “What don’t you understand?” he asks lightly. Reggie blinks, “Why aren’t you yelling?” “Why should I be yelling?” Reggie stares at him open-mouthed, and Ray sighs, “Did you break the glass on purpose?”
The kid standing on his doorstep is tall, or at least he would be if his shoulders weren’t hunched, his eyes glued to the ground. His straight blonde hair flops into his eyes, and he twists and pulls at his fingers, but he doesn’t look up or speak, not when Ray introduces himself, not when Ray signs the paperwork, or when his social worker says her goodbyes. Instead, he stands in Ray’s kitchen and tries his best to disappear
Just when he’s starting to think he’ll explode, Alex materializes by his side, flanked by a pretty, curly-haired girl he thinks he might have seen around and a gawky brown-haired boy. “Alex!” he yells, flinging his arms around the other boy’s shoulders. Alex goes stiff for a second before he buries his head in Luke’s shoulder. “You suck,” Luke murmurs into Alex’s hair. He had never been more scared than when he’d showed up at their lunch table yesterday, and Alex wasn’t there. Alex pulls away and rolls his eyes, “Get over yourself, Patterson,” but his eyes are shiny, so Luke knows he doesn’t mean it.
Julie groans and throws the flashcards down in disgust, “I can’t focus.” Flynn grins, “Does it have anything to do with the fact that one of the hottest guys in school is currently in your garage?” “Something like that,” she sighs, rolling over onto her back and staring up at the ceiling.
It’s finally done! My “Reggie and Alex deserve to be Molina’s” propaganda AU.

rose- alex- foster care
thank you friend! this is actually a request from @sunsetcurvecuddles. This takes place in a newer AU of ours, currently unpublished, where Ray and Rose foster each of the boys for various and at different points in their lives. This takes place when they're 17 and 18. Reggie and Bobby are adopted Molinas, Luke and Alex are Ray and Rose's foster kids. Enjoy! G, I hope you like it, I gave you some Bobby as a bonus :) Happy belated birthday!
Bobby’s in the kitchen when Rose comes home with the groceries. He’s leaning against the counter, scrolling on his phone and eating an apple, but he puts his phone away and holds his snack between his teeth so he can take some of the bags from her.
“Thanks, sweetheart,” Rose says as she starts unloading cans onto the counter. “Where is everybody?”
Bobby hums and shifts his bags so he can take the apple out of his mouth. “Dad took Julie and Luke to Eats and Beats cause some indie group’s playing. Reggie and Carlos are at the skatepark with Willie, and I think Mr. Wilson’s gonna bring them home after dinner.”
“You didn’t want to go with them?”
Bobby shrugs. “Nah. Long day.”
Those two words tell Rose a lot more than Bobby’s able to say, so she doesn’t push it. “And Alex?”
Bobby makes a face and then tries to hide it by taking another bite of his apple. “Think he’s upstairs, doing homework or something.”
Rose frowns, loading the last of the groceries onto the counter. “I thought I told you kids to work on including him.”
“We’ve tried, Mom,” Bobby insists. He tosses his apple core into the trash and starts putting the groceries away, an easy excuse not to look at her. “I think Luke even invited him to the show, he’s not interested. And I don’t think he likes us very much.”
“He’s adjusting,” Rose reminds him. “And he had it really hard before he came to live with us.”
“Yeah, so? We all had it hard.” Bobby punctuates his words by slamming food items into their places in the fridge and pantry. “Reggie lost his folks, Luke felt strangled enough by his to run away six times, mine didn’t touch me for eight years. None of us took that as invitations to be assholes.” He adds, before she can chide him, “Sorry. You know what I mean.”
Rose sighs. She supposes she can’t really have expected Alex to become best friends with his foster siblings, the way they’ve been lucky enough to become friends with each other. She supposes the six of them co-existing at all— Bobby and Alex especially, sharing a room as they do— has to be good enough for now, after everything Alex has been through.
She supposes she can’t blame Alex for having trust issues, and she can’t blame the rest of the kids for wanting to avoid getting hurt.
“Will you finish putting these away?” she asks, reaching up to run a hand through Bobby’s hair. “And then I’ll try to get him out of your room so you can have some time to yourself before dinner.”
Bobby lets out a long sigh, tension visibly bleeding out of his shoulders as he stands in the light of the refrigerator. “Yeah. Thanks, Mom.”
Rose heads upstairs and knocks on the door to the bedroom at the far end of the hall.
The music playing softly inside— Billy Joel; she’s impressed— cuts off abruptly, and a moment later, Alex opens the door. He looks exhausted, hair out of place and eyes tinged with red, but his posture is as stiff and perfect as ever, one hand curled tight around the doorknob. “Hello.”
Rose manages a smile, even though looking at Alex usually makes her heart chip a piece. “Hi, sweetheart. I just wanted to let you know I was home. How’d your day been, do you need anything?”
“No, ma’am,” Alex says politely. “I’m just studying.”
“Test tomorrow?”
Alex glances over his shoulder. “Friday. And one next Tuesday. But I like to get ahead.”
“That’s good,” Rose says. “Come study in the living room for a while, will you? Bobby had a long day, he’d like to rest for a bit before dinner. No one else is home. I promise I won’t distract you.”
Alex hesitates, opens his mouth like he’s going to protest, and then closes it again. His jaw goes tight, but his tone is neutral when he says, “Yes, ma’am. I’ll be down in a minute.”
He closes the door, just short of in her face, before Rose can say more, can ask him if he’d like a drink or a snack or to do something just the two of them, instead of more homework.
Not that she really expects him to take her up on that last one. But it’s like she’s been telling the kids— they have to try. To make an effort, to make Alex feel included, wanted, part of their family.
Even if it takes time. And a lot more effort than it took with the rest of them.

hold my hand and I’ll squeeze it back
part 1/? of what could maybe be considered a juke angst fic? I suppose that’s up to interpretation.
slight warning for mention of character death/depictions of depression/grief. i don’t even know if it’s necessary but everyone’s different so just thought I’d include it :)
heavily inspired by Charlie’s movie Love You Anyway which y’all should watch if you haven’t already - though just as another warning, that deals with depression/self harm and some other heavier topics so if depictions like that upset you, definitely do your research and take care of yourselves !! <333
~
Rose Molina passed away over Christmas break during Julie’s freshman year of college.
Despite feeling terribly overwhelmed, Julie returned for her second semester, basically as normal. If it were up to her, she would’ve put school on pause for a while. But in one of the last conversations she had with her mom, Rose made Julie promise to go back and continue pursuing her dreams. Dr. Turner had also thought it would do Julie some good to get back into a routine—one that didn’t include routinely hiding away under the covers and only going to the bathroom down the hall and back again.
So Julie went back with the encouragement of her father and maybe some well intentioned, though poorly executed pressure from her aunt. She’d finally survived the first 8 weeks of the semester (if surviving meant sitting out of all of her music courses with pitied looks from her professors and just barely passing in her general education classes) and was ready for spring break.
All she wanted to do was go home, put on her comfiest clothes and crawl into bed for the next two weeks. Though she knew if tía Victoria was around she would definitely have something to say about it and the mere thought of worrying Dad or Carlos just exhausted her. To top it all off, her best friend Luke, who had been her rock and the only reason she made it through her mom’s funeral in one piece, was off touring with his band the exact same time she was home from school on break. So it wasn’t as though her spring break would be any kind of reprieve, but she tried to look forward to it nonetheless. At least she’d be home with her family right?
Julie had just walked through the front door, dropping her luggage near the bottom of the stairs as her dad came in to greet her.
“Mija, you’re home!!” He gathered her in a hug that she quickly returned. “I’m so glad to see you.”
“I’m happy to see you too, papí,” she said, giving him her best attempt at a genuine smile. Her dad was one of the people closest to her so it wasn’t a lie. Being anywhere with him made Julie feel safe.
His eyes lit up as if he had only just remembered something. “Stay right there. I have something for you.”
“Have something for me?” she asked even as her dad retreated back toward the kitchen. “Is it some sort of holiday I’m forgetting??” It wouldn’t surprise Julie if she’d forgotten some important date—she’d been forgetting a lot of things these days—but even as she wracked her brain she couldn’t come up with any reason her dad could be giving her a gift.
Ray came back into the living room with his phone in hand, positioned to record with the cheesiest smile on his face. “So mija, what are your plans for your spring break?”
Julie’s brow furrowed in confusion. She eyed the camera before looking up at her dad. “I don’t know…sleep? Watch Carlos play video games? More sleep?”
“Seems awful boring, don’t ya think, boss?”
Julie visibly perked up at the familiar voice coming from behind her dad. Her eyes searched the room before they fell on Luke as he appeared into the door way to the kitchen. “No way!!!” she screamed, immediately sprinting toward her best friend.
Luke opened his arms automatically and easily caught Julie as she jumped into them, wrapping her arms around his neck and her legs around his waist. He spun her around, his laughter filling her ears.
She buried her face into his shoulder, allowing herself to take in the familiar feeling of her favorite person in the world. “Aren’t you supposed to be on tour with Sunset Curve?!” she asked once she finally pulled away from the hug. Julie slowly set her feet back on the floor, but didn’t let him get too far.
“Aw, they can get along without me for a few days. I had to come see my best friend,” Luke said, his smile brightening if that were even possible.
As she took in the sight of him for the first time in a while, Julie noticed that not much had changed about Luke, thankfully, except that his hair had now grown just long enough to brush his shoulders.
“A few days? You mean you’re—“
“Gonna hang out with you nonstop until you get so sick of me you’ll be sending me back off on tour in no time? Yep, exactly.”
Julie looked at her dad, as if suddenly remembering he was still in the room. “You knew about this???”
“It was all Luke’s idea,” Ray said, still recording with his phone. “Who am I to say no to a good old fashioned surprise?”
And it was the best surprise Julie could’ve hoped for. Luke had already dropped his stuff in the guest room so he helped Julie get her stuff upstairs and convinced her to let him take her out for ice cream.
As they sat at the outdoor tables along the boardwalk eating their ice cream, Luke finally asked the question she dreaded the most. “So how are things at school?”
Julie felt her demeanor literally wilt as she looked down at her ice cream that she’d mostly been picking at. “Things are okay. They’re… fine.”
Luke glanced over his shoulder before he ducked under the table, looking around the boardwalk in search of something.
“What are you doing?”
“I’m looking for whatever other person you must be talking to because it can’t be me,” he said giving her a look. “Jules, come on. It’s just me. Talk to me.”
Julie had always been best friends with Luke, even before her mom ever got sick. She trusted him (and Flynn) with just about anything. He somehow made everything seem manageable and less overwhelming than it really was. Luke had always been someone who she felt she could be her true self around. She didn’t need to filter herself in order for him to accept her. “I got excused from all my music classes this semester, which is what I wanted. But now everyone looks at me like I’m going to snap.” She glanced up at him to gauge his reaction before continuing, “I know I’ll have to move on eventually but right now, everything just feels… wrong.”
“Did you tell your dad about this?”
“You know I can’t,” Julie told him. “He’s already worried about me. If I tell him, he’ll want to bring me home and I’ll be back to talking to Dr. Turner three days a week.”
Luke leaned forward despite them table between them. “He cares about you, Julie. Maybe coming home for a little while isn’t such a bad idea.” His eyes shone with complete sincerity like they always had whenever they talked. Luke was a happy person, always hyping up his friends and reminding them how great they were. But he was never dishonest, especially not with her. “There’s nothing wrong with finishing school later if it means taking care of you now.”
“But I promised my mom I would go back,” she said, feeling tears in her eyes already.
“You will,” he said firmly. “If your mom saw how much you were struggling—“
“If she could see how much I was struggling, I wouldn’t be in this mess!” she snapped, getting up to throw her ice cream in the trash with a bit more force than necessary. Julie turned to storm away, but someone took her arm from behind.
“Let me go, Luke.” She tried to yank her arm back but he wasn’t budging. “I said let go!” Julie turned to push him off, but he easily pulled her into his chest. She feebly tried to free herself, but as he wrapped one arm around her back and his other hand came up to cradle her head to his chest, she gave in.
“I’m sorry Jules,” he whispered in her ear, likely feeling her tears soak his shirt. “I’m so sorry.”
