sometimes I wonder where all the weird „wiika is part of an amish cult“ rumors in our village come from and then I remember that this is how I run around our backyard doing garden work most of the time

this is actually a nightgown handwoven and sewn by one of one of my foremothers during ww1. It has her initials stitched in the collar and yes I‘m wearing this the right way, you can tell from the way it‘s cut that this is the front.

This is probably the most ethically sourced piece of clothing I have and its so comfy too.

WIP Wednesday

Writing is sporadic, so have a picture of my Faerun/Thedas crossover twins, and a snippet of Talana being sneaky bard.

Talana waited a few minutes, but Cullen didn't come back out. Humming quietly to herself, she slipped back behind one of the pillars at the side, hiding herself from view. A few quietly sung words, a few small items from her beltpouch, and flash of light later, a small calico tabby cat stepped out from behind the pillar.

She shook herself, not used to the feeling of fur, gave a few licks to settle it, then made her way towards the Chantry doors. One of the children squeeled and squatted down to pet her. Purring loudly, Talana accepted the attention for a minute before continuing inside. She paused, letting her ears and nose lead her as she allowed her eyes to adjust.

They led her to a smaller room, set to the left of the room that Leliana and Josephine had dubbed the War room. The door, miraculously, wasn't shut all the way, so Talana butted it with her head and pushed her way in, listening intently to the conversation.

"- and while a few of those children may be from Redcliff, undoubtedly most of them are apprentices from the Tower," Cullen was saying.

"I understand that is a concern, but there simply aren't enough trained templars in our ranks to watch them," Josephine said. "Not to mention how it would look to the mages still in Redcliff, if we handed care of the children directly to the templars that they were sent away from for protection."

"These aren't those types of templars," Cullen said, his voice measured. "These joined me in leaving the order to follow the Inquisition. Those templars left the order and chose to sow chaos."

A young elven woman sitting at a desk in the corner spoke up, "Don't let the malcontents fool you, Lady Ambassador. Not all mages hate templar oversight. If the templars don't abuse their position, few at Redcliff will be able to complain."

The woman glanced at Talana as she wound her way through the room, but didn't acknowledge her beyond putting her hand down, quill in her fingers tapping enticingly on the edge of the desk. Talana hesitated but kept moving, her paws falling silently on the smooth tiles of the floor. She made her way under the desk, peeking up at the Commander.

He sighed. "I simply worry that demons may be attracted to so many untrained minds. There must be a way to minimize the risk."

The dust under the desk tickled Talana's nose. She batted at it, trying to stop what she knew was coming, but the sneeze burst out anyway.

Silence fell in the office. A small laugh came from the corner, quickly stifled. Josephine stood, pushing her chair out til it hit the wall behind her, then peered under the desk. She looked puzzled, but when she saw the cat her eyes lit up. "Oh, but aren't you a sweetie!" she cooed, holding her hand out.

Talana pushed her face into the outstretched hand, then gracefully jumped up onto the desk. Josephine and the elven woman immediately began pouring attention on her. Cullen sighed. "You're so pretty," cooed Josephine. "Isn't she pretty, Cullen?"

"I suppose so," Cullen hedged. At the women's incredulous looks, he shrugged. "I prefer dogs," he said by way of explanation.

"How very... Ferelden of you."

Cullen sighed again. "I'll leave you to it. There's a cleric outside getting all the children's names. Maybe by the time they're done you'll be done fawning over the cat," he muttered the last as he left.

Things have been pretty quiet while the job hunt marches on, but in the interest of using up stuff I have already, last week I got a jump start on something I've been wanting to do for a while, and knocked out a couple of wet formed leather pouches and re-dyed the gunbelt to match plus strung and dyed a rope girth belt to go underneath. (Not settled on the buckle of the gunbelt though) Seeing how well the leather took a shine when I burnished the whole surface, I went back and gave the pouch I made for my #doloresabernathy the same treatment, and now I love it all over again. I didn't make the holster, and since it's a #vintage piece in good shape with a pretty patina, I'm not gonna dye over it, and instead it'll be used as a pattern for two matching new ones. It's not much so far, but it's a step towards my first #mandalorian kit!
