oh my godddd just got recommended a post about how the slay the princess fandom is misogynistic and giving in to "the trend where fandom ignores the female characters" bc people are having fun shipping the voices. several comments were like 'ugh i know its so bad already ://" shut up. shut up shut up shut uppppppp
the slay the princess fandom is VERY small. if you check ao3, we've got less than 200 fics total. and guess what? the hero/princess ship is by FAR the most popular. the voice ships are miniscule in comparison. if people playing with m/m ships at ALL bothers you, you may in fact just be homophobic. (and maybe instead of bitching about how what a handful of other people create isn't to your liking, you could like. create something yourself.)

I wish the phrase "Bechdel Test" had never fallen into common vernacular and I'm not kidding.
#rambles#this isn't related to anything im just thinking about the time my sister said shrek was a bad (allegorical) representation of fat ppl#bc it fails the “Fat Bechdel Test”#and like. bestie. no#first of all the bechdel test isn't intended to be taken at face value; it's a joke about seeing Alien as a lesbian movie#second of all if you ARE going to try to apply it seriously it only works if its done in TRENDS#i mean. if you look at the trends and use that to critically analyze whether you're being fair in your own stories then that's great!#but ultimately something isn't “bad” just because it fails any version of a bechdel test#like. just take the traditional Bechdel-Wallace Test#if you saw a short story about two gay men falling in love#chances are its not sexist just based on the fact that no two women with names talk about something other than a man#the text just has *other priorities*#and that itself is not a bad thing#ugh

i like the sab tv show crows in a very different way than i like the soc/ck crows, sab i feel had a bit of a more fun characterization of jesper, which was a blessing and a curse because they reduced him to the comedic character (though, the scene with his mom was genuinely beautiful)
however,,, the most heinous robbery was that of ninej. netflix stole their friendship away and only gave them like… two scenes alone together… they took away ninej relationship which is so tragically sad because they mean so much to me </3 they turned nina’s character into just caring about matthias.
sab crows are interesting (and somewhat fun) depictions of their characters but there is so much missing that could’ve been added or changed! i am sick
