#because he’s the admin and the one running the servers

i'm glad quackity is becoming more involved in running the actual server, and i think he's handling the situation as well as he can. but it sucks a lot that he wasn't ALREADY highly involved in how his passion project was run and how his money was spent. he is very young, he is a busy law student and content creator, he is intensely private. this was a tough lesson for him on responsibility.
i think those of us who've been watching since the beginning aren't super surprised by how little he knew about things behind the scenes. his character wasn't even allowed to /op because he wanted to be on equal footing with the other players. he constantly mentioned how he "doesn't know what's going to happen today" during events when other members would ask questions. he doesn't seem to know shit about the mods they've chosen or how the custom game mechanics work. he's doesn't play on the server much at all!
so seeing dream stans and other mcyt fans huff and puff about how quackity is lying and obviously knew about everything bad going on is odd. like this man really doesn't know shit about how his server is run or what happens on it. THAT'S a fair thing to criticize and something i agree is irresponsible. it's not fair to claim he's lying about not knowing things when every indication for the last year has pointed viewers in that direction. he's really been super hands off about everything except adding new languages, which is kind of his whole focus.
anyway kudos to the french admins and aypierre for speaking up and sparking workplace change. very on brand for the french LOL
also reminder to any younger viewers who are like REAAAALLY invested in qsmp to stop catastrophizing. it'll be alright. it's literally just minecraft, no one is in any danger.

Tumblr media
According to Pomme's admin, there has been no indication that they are going to get paid. This, combined with the fact that the egg figurines will only be available for a limited amount of time:
Tumblr media
makes me unsure whether the money used from sales will go towards admin salaries (past or future). The only thing we have been told is that the money will go towards server costs (which, as far as a viewer is concerned, could be the infamous translation tool).
This is exactly what I was saying in the tags of my posts. It unfortunately makes sense that pomme's admin hasn't been contacted about payment yet, because, as it's been said multiple times, there are no current funds to pay her rn. If the eggs aren't back because there are no funds to pay the admins who still currently wish to be on the server, then there obviously aren't enough funds to pay back past work for any ex admins. It wouldn't make sense to ask pomme's admin about payment when she can't be payed rn. This would be another matter entirely if the qsmp was financially stable rn, which it isn't.
If the money made by the figurines goes to stuff like translator or server costs, then that is one less thing quackity has to worry about when it comes to expenses as that is vital to keep the server running and then he can start to figure out payments for past and current admins that wish to stay. Just because the money made by the figurines may not go directly into the admins bank accounts does not mean that this won't help them in the long run.
This does not mean that you are obligated to buy anything if you're not comfortable to, you have every right to simply decide not to for your own sake, but I think it's important to look at every angle critically because this situation is not black and white and requires a clear head. Thank you for the respectful ask and discussion!

I've seen people say you can't compare the QSMP to the DSMP because they're both completely different servers with different starts.
The thing is you can compare them. Not the stories told themselves because of course they're going to be different as they're 2 servers with different starts with 2 nearly completely different sets of people.
You can compare the treatment of the creators by the fandom, players (other cc on the server) and admins though.
Foolish for example. He made SO many amazing high quality builds to use and be shown to people. Ranboo and Tubbo had him build a giant mansion for them to live in! Yet it was entered maybe once after being finished. Foolish was able to use his builds for his own lore maybe once. Only a few people like Bad really acknowledged them by messing around in the area of them or adding something easy to get rid of to them as jokes.
Bad's treatment on the DSMP was frustrating to watch. He was the butt of the joke every time he was around. People would constantly swear on his streams because it was so funny for them! They constantly destroyed his and Skeppy's house and griefed the front of it. No one other than his friends really listened to him about things. And the egg arc was supposed to be something that was a massive danger to the server! But how does the server and fandom not directly involved treat it? Like a joke. Bad and his friends clearly worked really hard on this arc to include more than just the 'main characters' and their small circle, yet it was brushed off as if nothing by the players and fandom, treated like it was stupid.
Quackity's lore just kinda- happened. There isn't much I can say as I don't remember a lot of it tbh which isn't a great sign.
Philza and Wilbur probably got the better end of the stick for lore due to being connected to the main lorr, but it still wasn't great for them either.
A lot of CCs not on the QSMP have mentioned how the communication for the server was terrible too. At the start of lore on the DSMP, it made sense as they were purely doing improve so there wasn't really anyone to run things through. But the fact the issue was bad the entire time made the CCs on the server feel ignored and not want to play on it.
It was rare for people to interact with others outside their already established circles unless they're friends outside the server.
Now with the QSMP
Foolish has built multiple things on the server and has been acknowledged by everyone at this point. Bad might mess with them a lot still and encourage others to join him but you can tell the respect people still have for each one. Vagetta wants a version of the statue Foolish built him on other servers. People and fandom admire his builds and always make sure that if there's any damage to it, it's easily undone. Cellbit has made the castle Foolish built him his home the moment it was finished, he's been using it since. He paid him fully and made sure he was fully supplied and had company while building, staying on for hours to talk to him as he built.
Bad is respected by everyone on the server. He's taken seriously by everyone. Everyone trusts him with their kid's lives. Phil asks Bad to babysit Tallulah and Chayanne if he can't. The french trust Bad more than anyone outside their language group. Forever trusts Bad the most on the server other than Baghera. If someone needs something they'll go to him. All the eggs love him and so does the fandom. He's part of the joke instead of the butt of it. He can laugh along with the jokes made, even ones directed at him. When people swear on his streams and he languages them, they immediately apologize and switch to one of Bad's replacements (fudge being the main one) and no one makes fun of it either! They don't start swearing relentlessly at him to annoy him.
Even though Quackity doesn't show up often, when he does people are happy to interact with him and update him on what's happened if he wants it.
People can be off the server for weeks without being isolated because they're not keeping up with major lore, especially as people are happy to update anyone on anything they want to know. Hell people can be on a lot without being involved in lore but still be included as much as anyone else! As soon as there's a threat to the eggs or a new way to protect them, it spreads to everyone like wildfire and everyone's taken it on within a week.
The new arrivals are always welcomed by the islanders already there. They support them and treat with the same respect they do with everyone else. They merge with everyone else nearly immediately and become part of the community without hesitation.
The communication with the admins is clearly amazing too. Philza has pointed out how appreciated he feels compared to other servers. When an egg dies unfairly they're quick to get back to them within hours. If there's a general issues they're quick to get back to them and fix things. People are allowed to have their own stories alongside the main one. Events are planned and discussed so everyones aware before it happens. Anyone who wants to take part is welcome to if it's a big thing due to how open they usually are (rescuing Cellbit and Felps, travelling to Bobby's death site, etc). Thinfs are adapted and changed when needed and all CCs are in the loop.
Being able to watch the QSMP and not feel like any POV I watch is being mistreated or ignored is great. I couldn't watch anything but lore streams with the DSMP because Bad was my main POV and it made me so uncomfortable to watch him being made fun of constantly and be treated as a joke.
The QSMP feels like a community of people, instead of factions trying to go against each other. DSMP was my first and only smp experience and while it was great at first, it quickly soured. The QSMP treats it's CCs and fandom as if they genuinely matter, making sure everyone is welcomed and no one is isolated.

i think one of the most interesting things about the mystery/secret investigation angle of qsmp, especially during the earlier days, was the way that admins acted far more like genuine threats and were treated more explicitly like they were part and parcel of the federation. people would avoid talking strategy on stream, with the knowledge that admins were probably watching and would know what tricks they would try out, paranoia (cellbit's in particular) was very justified-- there were people watching him inside the walls, and he knew it because they would taunt him and would reveal that they had been watching him attempt to covertly find out information.
and this is also prevalent in the tension of the reveal that cellbit had actually still be investigating for the federation-- he continues working for them with the intent to find out information and give them the run-around, not giving them anything he finds/altering his notes, but in the end it's tense and suspenseful because the federation could know full well what he's doing-- they're, in a way, omnipotent. they watch everything he does, they have eyes everywhere, and they have been watching him since he arrived. he knows this. even in his fear room, he eventually stops feeling safe having information out in the open, creates a secret room with a terminal where he can find all of his investigations.
the nature of this medium, and this server in particular, is that there is no way to hide things from the entity of the federation while still allowing the audience to know about them. the updates accounts on twitter are partly canon-- they explain the federation's knowledge of goings-ons and they provide clues for lore. the admins watch players' streams, gathering information for the updates but also for the federation to be aware of what the players are up to. not only is it a livestreamed medium, meaning nearly everything is on display for the viewers, but it includes the terror of being watched and knowing that there is no way to guarantee you're not seen at every single moment by the people who hold all of the cards.

Joel is lounging around on Potato Pier, evening darkening to purple as Jimmy and Grian argue about something stupid in the background. He dips a hand in and out of the water elevator, in and out, and again; and after every splash he's seeing the same numbers.
"Time's stopped," Joel says absently. The lulling noise of the background conversation grinds to a halt.
"Sorry, what?" Jimmy asks.
"I said, the blimming-" Joel realizes what he's saying as he says it, snapped from dreamy to alert in a moment. Grian's head whips up.
Jimmy looks down at his own arm. "The time's stopped. The time has stopped? Grian?"
Already reaching for his comm, Grian says with a forcedly casual tone, "No it hasn't."
Then he blanches, eyes flicking over the screen.
"WHAT."
Joel snorts and looks out over the map. No one is noticeably freaking out yet- the only group he can see out and about this late in the day is the Clockers, busy fixing up the cliff face on their side of the No-Man's-Land with Pearl and BigB. He watches as Bdubs falls in the chicken pit for the umpteenth time. Joel snickers.
He looks up, and catches sight of Grian's expression. He stops snickering.
--------------------
"What do you MEAN," Cleo yells, "that the clocks have stopped?" One of their arms is looped firmly around Scar's shoulders, which seems prudent given his tendency to wander off and either explode or kill whoever he bumps into. He still looks slightly singed from earlier, giving an overall impression of a puppy that cannot be left alone with electric cords.
Slumped against a rough stone wall reloading a crossbow, Joel scoffs. "What do you bloody well think it means?"
"HEY," Bdubs exclaims, "Don't talk to-" Aaand he's in the horse pit.
"It's fine Bdubs." Cleo rolls her eyes. "My fault. What I meant to ask is, why are you-" she points to Grian, who squawks, "-telling us about it? Why aren't you just fixing it?"
"Well he can't, can he?" Jimmy pipes up from his seat at the dining table. "Else he would. He's in here with us, though."
Cleo doesn't stop staring at Grian, and boy is Joel glad he's not Grian right now. Both because being himself is obviously the best option always, and because an angry Cleo is a very scary Cleo.
Reluctantly, slowly, Grian nods. "I can't fix it."
No one says anything.
The dripping from the ceiling to the floor makes Joel think someone really ought to fix up the roof. They'll have the time for it, he reckons. Then Joel remembers that the Bad Boys had, in fact, bombed the clocktower not an hour before, and decides now is really not the time to mention it.
Finally: "I really can't. It's not-" Grian sighs. "I set this thing up. It can run just fine on autopilot, pretty much. If I were on the outside as an admin-" he grimaces, "...like I should be, it wouldn't be an issue. But it's like the pilot is locked inside the bathroom while the plane-" Grian stops talking.
"Crashes? While it crashes." Cleo sounds displeased. Joel starts drafting an obituary. Bdubs has clambered up from the horse pit by now and is sitting on the edge of it, nervously messing with a janky old pocket watch.
"I would really prefer not to be stuck in an airplane bathroom forever," Scar says forlornly.
"Oh for goodness' sake," Joel says. "There has to be someone on this server who can fix this. Grian can't be the first idiot who's ever done something this stupid."
"I'll take that bet," Bdubs mutters darkly. Cleo shoots him a look, and he raises both hands and scoots forward to disappear down into the horse pit again.
Cleo pinches the bridge of their nose. "Alright, let's go find out if someone else on this server has already been a bigger idiot than Grian."

Doing a Summary of the French ccs' Lore (because we are forgotten)
(this last part is a joke don't take it too seriously)
Making a post with the lore we know about every French ccs for those who don't follow them religiously : (I might forget some things because I'm not an encyclopedia)
BAGHERA JONES :
Has said in the past she does see herself (her character) as human, like in the "Regret" animation but has also talked about "dying her feathers" instead of hair, and discussed with mike about not really having hair. Her species/lineage/anything you want to call it doesn't seem to be something set in stone.
When asked from where she comes from she answers Switzerland. It seems to have been accepted by Cucurucho. (also knows about The Shit Tower from the Team du Lundi server, though that might not be really lore accurate)
Doesn't seem to be interested in leaving the island itself, but is REALLY interested in freeing herself and the others from the Federation.
Considers BBH and Forever as her family alongside the rest of the french. Both Pomme and Dapper are her adopted kids.
Has both an underground Base and a Castle far north.
Dropped out of the election on her own accord, jumping from the top of her castle's highest tower.
(note : Please admins, cook something for her... She needs it... She tried for days to solve the book thingy, and Cellbit ended up having the last clues and doing it himself... Please I beg you...)
ETOILES :
Is a masked anthorpomorphic cucumber. No ambiguity about that.
When asked where he comes from, it alternates between France, and Far Away (if I remember well) (Was also part of the Team du Lundi server, but nothing confirms it is part of his canon lore).
What does seem to be conserved is his familiarity with all the french ccs : His close joke-flirting relationship with Antoine, his friendly banters with Baghera, his kind of disciple in redstone and create relationship with Aypierre, and his friendship with Kamet0.
Actually enjoying his time on the Island because of the challenges it offers him. Particularly enjoys showing the Federation and The Codes how they can do nothing against him. Considers himself a simple Warrior.
Has a cave a la BatCave but spends most of his time exploring and far away from it.
His favorite thing is bringing loot and stuff to the other residents.
Is freindly with everyone, and enjoys every egg, with particular admiration to Dapper.
(note : #EtoilesIsMyPresident)
AYPIERRE :
A simple human (note : a headcanon I like and that his community has kinda adopted is imagining him with Doc Ock style mechanical arms)
Comes from a random place in France he wrote kind of has a joke to Cucurucho. As for a potential server he could come from the guy is one of the oldest mc cc on the INTERNET. I could not tell you.
We don't really know his feelings on the island, but is portrayed as an opportunist and enjoyer of contracts. Absolutely willing to have deals with the Federation, though also interested in helping the others leave the island.
"n° 1 Gegg fan". Built a Gegg generator and is behind the Geggpocalypse of the election dinner.
Has a fun uncle/nephew relationship with Richarlyson, he revealed the Geggpocalypse to him before anyone else, and is building a winery to run with him.
Has a small house with multiple elevators and teleport pads leading to his huge Factory complex he will open to the public soon.
"I'm secretly building a machine.." before being cut off by Slime saying "WTF MAN THIS IS CRAZY".
(note : We don't know what that last part is about though most likely linked to the lore he's been brewing with the admins that is coming early August)
ANTOINE DANIEL :
We have no idea what he is, though might appears "human". "We all have multiple faces, Im just the only one showing them all". *about the face that was on his inside layer on his old skin* "I'd rather not talk about that, it's private."
Comes from France, though his reference to the Shit Tower into the new Shit Palace might mean he comes from the Team du Lundi server.
We don't know his feelings on the island, though distrustful of the Federation.
Lives in his Shit Palace that is currently unfinished, with the Moon and it's ring above. Has a secret room under called "La Fin du Monde (the end of the world)" with (old and not updated) thoughts about the residents of the island.
Is easily distrustful though trusts the french the most, and confides most of his secrets in Pomme.
Has a weird admiration/obession with Cucurucho.
(note : Come back antoine, I miss the kids...)
KAMET0 :
Ah ah ah ah... ah.
Etoiles did say he might come back at some point to do a cameo, tough not regularly.
(note : come back to the village Sasuke...)

The identify of who upkeeps hermitcraft has been a secret ever since Generik left. With him gone, and no one claiming to have the role of admin, it has to be someone right? But no one has ever stepped forward.
A lot of people think it’s Keralis, but he vehemently denies it, and no one with a sane mind would make Bdub’s admin. Joe neither claims nor denies that he’s the admin. X is too much of a derp to run the server.
At least, that’s what they think.
The only reason X didn’t talk about it was because he was given the role when he was very socially awkward and unsure of how to approach others, and he didn’t want to draw attention to himself. But he’s not sure how to discuss it now, until he was actually caught by Scar on the edge of falling asleep while working on the code.
Xisuma took the role on because of necessity - the server had so much potential for good, somebody just needed to keep it going. That person became him.
He worried about being treated differently by the Hermits, especially as the server grew in size. The server's admin became a figure of myth, some mysterious figure behind the scenes. And that's not Xisuma! Xisuma is a little clumsy, always willing to help and he likes to think a friend to the Hermits. Not a mystery.
And then, one day, Scar finds Xisuma barely awake, resting his head on his arms with various screens in front of him. He was chunk pruning, necessary for the health of the server and sure, technically it didn't need doing just yet but he was awake and once he started, he might as well finish-
He begs Scar not to tell anybody and Scar just laughs, patting X's head.
"What, that you've been working too hard again? Come on, X, let's get you in bed."
Xisuma still can't tell if Scar didn't know what he was doing, or if he pretended not to. But he resolves to come clean to the hermits... Soon.

Anyways, I don't think I did put the chicken and the egg idea here, so!!
The chicken and the egg is my idea for a "test" for admins when they first create a server. It's hardcored in to ensure the person starting the server knows what they're doing, at least a little bit. Like a puzzle that needs to be solved.
The rules of this problem are simple; in order for mobs to start spawning there must be both a chicken and an egg present on the server. A chicken despawns instantly without an egg, an egg despawns instantly without a chicken.
The solution to this is for an admin to run the tasks in parallel, they happen at the same time, and because the tasks are processed at the same time, both come into existence together. No despawning, and you're all good to go.
c!Dream when starting his own server encountered this problem with no formal training. He got stumped by this for awhile, before finding a solution he was very proud of!!
One day, someone, probably c!Phil is looking through the server code and realizes that the server. straight up. Isn't using any parallel processes. He's not even sure how that's possible. It shouldn't be possible, because you need at least one parallel process to start your server and spawn mobs.
Since he can't figure it out Phil asks Dream how he solved that initial puzzle, trying to figure out what's going on. Dream is very happy to explain his solution!!
Start trying to spawn a chicken in a loop, basically spamming the command.
Paint a painting of an egg in an item frame.
Take an actual item frame and place it in front of an observer
Pause ticking so the observer can't update
Replace the item frame with the picture of the egg in an item frame.
Resume ticking.
The Observer now believes there is an egg that has been placed in the item frame, because the observer believes there is an egg, the server now believes there is an egg.
Because the server now believes there is an egg, it allows the chicken to spawn. Once he has the chicken, c!Dream spawns in a real egg.
Profit
Dream even kept this setup in a tiny little bedrock enclosure so nobody could mess with it. He shows it off to Phil whose just stuck between awe and horror that this worked and the broader implications for what kind of weird rube-goldberg ass server they're on right now.

what you said about philza’s privilege in terms of the qsmp experience (and just in general) is a great point tbh. i believe that HE believes in what he’s saying taking into account that he has access to different information than we do (not necessarily MORE, just different — dudes not on twitter for example so may not have seen testimonies from ex admins, but has info from people still involved in the server that we are not privy to etc). ultimately he’s only intending to talk to his community and reiterates that he’s not a spokesperson for the project, just another guy playing on his friends server taking what’s been told to him in good faith, so his truth is his truth but not necessarily the objective truth etc.
one thing I’ll say about the ‘no rp actors’ thing is that probably that’s referring to those specifically hired to do full time rp. my thought is that some admins still on the project that have been doing rp (the ‘5 active’ ones) are doing it for fun in the downtime from their main tasks. this seems pretty indicative when you only really see them doing this with bbh, because if it was actually their ‘job’ they would be available for the other creators still playing too. (i saw a bbh fan comment that ‘these admins suck at improv’ which, yeah. not their primary job probably lol). the only admin I’ve seen hang out with several creators is ‘ollie’ who we now know is ricardão, and that speaks for itself really given how many hours he’s clocked on the server just for fun outside of his ‘work’ obligations. so it’s like, should the new team specifically be telling the admins not to rp on the server if this is the case, to strictly stick to their tasks, or is it better to allow them autonomy over their time regardless of the arrangement? idk. in the end i’m reserving most of my judgement for if/when they release a statement on what changes have been made after (/if) this ‘restructuring’ gets done.
Hi anon, thx for the ask.
Even if they are not rp admins specifically I personally don't think they should be playing on the server at all right now unless they are getting paid for it. Letting the admins do volunteer work like that sets a dangerous precedent moving forward for all admins workers. The studio will be more inclined to hire (or keep employed) people who will do extra just because they want to, without pay, and it will end up the same way it is now: people being underpaid and expected to do much more than they are reasonably able to.
It's easier to picture when you imagine that it's something more boring. There's a guy at this restaurant that hasn't been paying their staff for overtime but he keeps pulling overtime anyway because he loves cleaning dishes so so so much. Maybe he does, maybe he doesn't, but he still shouldn't be encouraged to do so until the restaurant gets their shit figured out.
"Autonomy over their time" would make more sense if they were being paid hourly wages or a fixed salary, neither of which we've seen evidence for. As far as I'm aware all employees who have come forward were paid in unrecorded one-time payments or as contractors for a fixed project/piece/job.
Quackity Studios is going to have to figure out how to pay workers who are often working overtime hours, whose hours are not fixed and fluctuate wildly and unpredictably, and who are living in many different economic climates, which is a task I do not envy them at all.
They also (best case scenario) will have to figure out retrospectively how much they owe all of their unpaid and underpaid workers from the past year. I do not have much faith in this happening given the size and scope of this task and the fact that there is no way, at this moment, that the QSMP has made anywhere close to the amount of money that cost to run it. I personally think that QS is going to fight very hard to not have to pay any of their workers for work previously done, although I would love to be wrong.
Even considering just those two things, not to even mention the logistics of a structural and leadership overhaul that we've been told is taking place, it is irresponsible and honestly self sabotaging to continue to allow those admins to rack up rp time on the server.
The RP admins are not essential for continuing to run the server. If they are being paid that is money that could go towards backpay for the under/unpaid workers. If they are not being paid their activity on the server is only increasing the potential liability QS has in regards to their unpaid laborers.

I am ready to go to war for this
Blue team is probably the cursed team
Think about it, in chayannes message it says to "PROTECT Tallulah" which could also mean "protect your teammates" since we don't know where Tallulah or chayanne are, either way "protect" is a survival aspect as if to protect those you love and hence, survive together.
In richarlysons message it says to "RUN and don't stop" which in itself is obvious. "running" is also a survival aspect as to say "run away from conflict" so that you could leave without the need of hurting anyone.
but in dappers message it says " Run over whoever you need to WIN" unlike richas's "RUN" or chayanne's "PROTECT" it means to sacrifice anything and everything to win, no matter the cost. Now I think that dapper said that because he knew that his father is in the cursed team. Now, I'm not saying that I know what the cursed team mechanic is, but I am pretty sure that it means they will be able to save more eggs or something like that.
Now in elmarianas lore yesterday, juanaflipa dropped him (removed the floor) but after that it translates to"your name is blue and you will FIGHT for your victory" implying that they will fight untill they win, no matter the consequences of their actions.
And i heard people saying that the red team is the cursed team since they are in a team full of people that barley log on and since they were targeted by the admins, i simply think that's not the case. Because when the cut scene for purgatory came on it said nothing about bad luck or skill, instead it said "one team is cursed" "if the cursed team looses, say goodbye to all your lives and eggs" it has no mention of luck
To end this note I will say that I hope blue team goes through a villian arc where they are the villains of the server and stuff.

I've found it curious how a lot of people are theorizing about why Grian is isolating himself this season. And while it's a great, fertile ground for some real good angsty takes, I don't really see it as isolation, yet.
Sure Grian doesn't have a special alliance yet, but he's still around Mumbo, Scar and BigB a lot. He constantly seeks them out and he tends to hang around bigger, random groups. It's so different from how Pearl was treated in Double Life, too. He's not being shunned or ignored. He's invited along, called "Light of the Server" and is just overall present. He just hasn't attached himself to anyone yet.
And he's not the only one! Scar has been reluctant to really settle down with a group. Jimmy had ended his first session alone (haven't been able to watch his second episode yet). Joel, while technically part of the Mounders/Moles, has set up camp rather far away and is mostly doing his own thing. Lizzy as well. And Martyn has been running around the server like a feral rat searching for scraps. Not to forget BigB being a huge cryptid.
This season just feels fundamentally different. It's slower on the losing life's front and the tasks force people to interact with each other in ridiculous ways. The connections feel looser, because everyone has to traverse the whole server to get their tasks done. Which means that they are constantly on the move and interact with people they usually aren't around so much.
They've also learned from every game they are in. Cleo, Scar and Grian have learned a different thing than Pearl, for example. While Pearl is making sure to get into a secure group ever since Double Life, Cleo, Scar and Grian all are wary of alliances. Especially first day alliances. They play with a different strategy. They are setting up and waiting until they've got a good feel for everyone. They are done attaching themselves to the first person they end up with. Remember that had been Grians plan in Limited Life, too! Only Joel and Jimmy were able to rope him into the Bad Boy club with their silly charm.
It also feels to me that Grian is more of a leader and admin this season. He moderates more and is on higher alert when people are about to fail their tasks. There's more check ins and reminders from him. And at every end of the session he makes sure that judgement is bestowed upon the ones who failed.
Everything about this season is so intriguing to me! From BigB and Grian being cryptids and having a weird, manipulative, confusing relationship again. (BigB what do you mean you hope your interactions with Grian are going to get weirder?!) To all the funny random interactions and the potential lore. It's going to be such a wild ride!

(long post about purgatory and meta and rp)
sigh one thing ive been thinking is that it feels a bit unfair to see so many people complaining or doomposting over how purgatory affects the overarching qsmp rp story or how it ~interrupted arcs~ or is ~disturbing current storylines~ or ~narratively unsatisfying~ like. Sure. its a bit abrupt and most players were caught off guard because lore-wise it stems from the federation which means none of them were told about anything beforehand
but... its only been three days. maybe we could have a little faith? like idk ill be soooooo out there rn and say that maybe the admins did this now for a reason. maybe itll make sense later on. we already see lore repercussions with elquackity and his motives and all the nods to the eggs.
theres fair criticism to be made (when done respectfully) if youre mainly here for the roleplay but i feel like we sometimes need to remind ourselves that the qsmp storytelling is a VERY ambitious project. lmao. imagine being the writing team and trying to wrangle 20+ characters with distinct points of view and journeys on an ever-changing story because of the very nature of live rp. its practically IMPOSSIBLE to tie up every loose end neatly and at this point i dont think we should expect that. keeping up momentum with all plotlines must also be pretty hard, cc's schedules and outside factors like server programming and building and mod tweaking and all those meta elements considered and so on and so on
i DO also want the story to move forward and be cohesive and make sense in a satisfactory way. like i really do!!!!!!! but i try to understand that thats not ALL the qsmp is about. from the start quackity said the server wouldn't be exclusive to the rp aspect. it sure is that way right now, but thats because most of the active members are VERY passionate about roleplaying. thats a good thing! they have fun and its fun to watch and the experience is mostly good for everyone because it corresponds to their expectations to an extent
the thing about purgatory is that i feel like its a lot more meta than most people doomposting realize. it ties into the story, sure, but to me it feels like the sudden switch in environment and vibes and stakes isnt actually catered to the rp and thats FINE. like thats not what it exists for and thats fineeeeeee
pac for one has said he appreciates the event for the change of pace, though its very hard (lol), because regular qsmp was starting to feel a bit stale to him and he was kind of running out of things to do. THATS A GREAT THING! managing player engagement like that is awesome and sometimes necessary. YES, purgatory caters to a very different playstyle than what we're used to -- and thats one of its strenghts.
a lot of hispanic creators have also felt this!!!! roier, rivers and carre most prominently have been VERY excited about this event because its similar in format to a lot of spanish speaking events like mc extremo and such. a lot of these players are also not particularly interested in rp-ing and had not been logging on very often prior to purgatory.
even roleplay regulars like tubbo, fit and bbh have shown interest in purgatory for the competitive nature of the setting!!! thats cool too!!!! something different, new possibilities to play around with. thats what the events should be about. kudos to the admins and dev teams for attempting it in such a big scale. their effort shows and all the mechanics weve seen are really fucking cool
i love the roleplay!!!!!! its one of my favorite parts of the qsmp!!!!!! but its not ALL there is and it shouldnt be! non rp-oriented creators are also part of the project and deserve to have a little fun too -- not to mention a big chunk of the hispanic fan community that has blown up twitter with support bc what we have rn is similar to events they already love!!!!!!! im glad to see so many of them get excited again!!!!!!
at the end of the day, qsmp is a LONG long term project, and purgatory ends in two weeks. by the time its over, we can all choose to engage with it as we wish. it can be a big filler episode in your mind, if you want. it can be just for fun..... otherwise, if its not fun, your regularly scheduled qsmp will be back soon anyway :3 its fine to not like it, its fine to have something negative to say about it if properly tagged and not like. crazy entitled or blown out of proportion for what this situation is.
i just hope we can all manage our online experiences accordingly and avoid making things less enjoyable for each other. this is supposed to be fun

so people are complaining about ramons death being reverted saying tilin, juanaflippa, and trumps death was also unfair so let me clarify as to why Thats Is Not True.
tilin got accidentally killed. there was no glitch or server issue. at the end of the day it doesnt matter if it was an accident SLIME KILLED HIM. if the death wouldve been reverted then it would make accidental murder deaths not count. so ask yourself, would only purposeful murder deaths count then? that would make the challenge too easy. also lets consider they were fighting off a skeleton and besides sweeping edge tilin was also not wearing armor. that is not unfair. simply bad timing and an unfortunate accident.
juanaflippa lost her first life by both parents not logging on. makes sense. now the second lost life was because of mariana misclicking a bed. an accident. i can agree unfair and as we all know she was revived. the next day she loses another life by being killed accidentally by marianas sweeping edge in a dungeon. and also by damage from mobs. comparing this one to the bed you can see why one was reversed and another one wasnt. juanaflippa died fair and square. by mobs and mariana. the egg task that day was literally to go to a dungeon. everybody knew the risk, this wasn’t Unfair. at this point players should know not to use swords when combatting near eggs. i love juanaflippa but lets not kid ourselves and say it isn’t fair that she hasnt been pardoned again. what happened happened
trumps death sucks. he was simply neglected however this doesn’t make it Unfair. there have been multiple other single parents who succeeded in taking care of their eggs daily. for fucks sake quackity once streamed for 15 minutes and quickly took care of tilin to not lose a life. that was part of the challenge. and rules. you have to log on to take care of them. his deaths while sad. make sense.
ramons death on the other hand was UNFAIR. as the qsmp account literally stated it was a “deviation of a rule”. the entity ENTERED the home while ramon was going to bed. as we know from the placed bed. the entity entering the home forced ramon to run outside the house and inevitably get killed. outside entities are not allowed to do this. this an infringement of the rules set for the server. that is why it is unfair. not because its sad or because the qsmp admins are being too lenient. if ramon had been outside of the fortified home to begin with this would have counted and the death would be fair. but that is not what occurred.
now can people stop pretending as if the qsmp admins don’t know what they’re doing

Welcome to 5llsmp, an experimental hardcore series– gets smacked
Right! Us Tumblr folk decided to get together and play some good ol' fashioned third life! Just with four lives. And a Boogeyman. But no life trade function.
The colour system is as follows.
Four lives- dark blue 💙
Three lives- green 💚
Two lives- yellow 💛
One life- red ♥️
Every time after we have a session, the players send me summaries of what happened, and I write it all up in an official statement! Some people recorded, so be on the lookout for little clips here and there! The official tag for this smp is #5llsmp, so check that out for the artwork, fanfiction, and other posts about our little game!
Well then, without further ado...
Session One
Your players:
Stiff (any) @stiffyck
Bee (she/they) @applestruda
Jay (she/they) @happy-hermit
Chem (he/they/it) @chemdisaster
Star (they/zie) @scarring-lust (18+)
Ed (he/byte/chirp/gore) @frootyloopy
Space (he/xe) @space-apples
Phil (he/zir/ghost/it) @aresonist
Wilm (he/they) @whilmsy
Melou (he/they) @melouthechalk
Zera (they/he) That’s me!
Elle (she/her) @periwinklemoonlight
Brandy (any) @brandyy0moss
5ievel (any) @5-fievel
Moth (he/him) @evenmoreevil
Admins:
Console- Wren @wren-pineapples
Playing- Zera (me again!)
The session starts off with a bang (more like a vine boom)!
Stiff runs off with Bee and Phil to gather materials before eventually running into Moth in the mountains! They decide to base together, creating the Lads of the Valley! Stiff then goes looking for water and meets Zera, and they both get distracted and go mining together.
Space and Wilm meet at spawn and decide to stick together, watching Chem take the enchanter and run off! They run off to the desert where they meet Zera at night. Space unfortunately dies to a husk, becoming the first green name of the server! Wilm then leaves Zera and goes back to spawn to find Space!
Zera immediately runs off in a random direction alone, and manages to find a village. They get an iron sword from the blacksmith! They briefly meet with Space and Wilm before mining some iron and getting everything set. They meet with Stiff and give him a diamond! They find sculk with Stiff and start mining it, but fall into lava and die. They then meet with Jay and decide to team, becoming the Boatem Birdies.
Chem is the first to mine the surface iron and run off with the enchanter! The boogeyman is chosen, and it ends up being him! He tries to make a plan for killing someone, and lies when Zera briefly passes by and asks if he’s the boogeyman. At spawn, Chem kills Wilm in what is described as the “most pathetic chase scene ever” where Wilm begs Chem not to kill him and Chem says they will cry if they don’t get the kill. Chem then goes to find a cave, names it “the pits of depression and self-loathing”, and allows Star to use the enchanter for sugar cane.
Star goes on a lone adventure, taking care to slaughter every living creature they see, with a special vendetta against the donkeys. They find a mineshaft and an enchanted book! They find Chem in a ravine and they meet up with Brandy for a bit! Star then goes on a hunt for moss and nearly dies.
Elle, staying true to her adventure loving self, basically stays in a cave all session digging clay for bricks. This is because Elle wants to build a house to fight Bee in.
5ievel and Ed stick together, calling themselves the Iron Guys. They briefly met up with Wilm, Brandy, and Elle and mined for a bit. 5ievel died to a creeper before rejoining the group briefly before going to the nether. The Iron Guys decide to base underground!
Space has died two more times, becoming the first and only red of the server.
Meanwhile, the Lads of the Valley are trying to get goat horns, spending about fifteen minutes with varying amounts of success before killing most, if not all, of the goats. Stiff dies by getting shot by a skeleton, and chats with Wilm after respawning before rejoining the Lads of the Valley.
The Boatem Birdies make a mini boatem pole with only two boats, before beginning to make a tower base. They become frenemies with the Lads of the Valley and discuss how screwed they are if one of the Lads becomes the boogey next session. Moth puts up a cobblestone wall between the Boatem Birdies and the Lads’ property, which Jay and Zera later take down. The Boatem Birdies attempt to make a peace treaty with the Lads with flowers, but Phil and Moth burn the flowers while Bee accepts.
The session has ended!
Life count:
Stiff- 3
Bee- 4
Jay- 4
Chem- 4

Space- 1
Phil- 3
Wilm- 3
Melou- 4

This is my third time trying to explain my theory about Grian being a Watcher even before Evo so please someone stay with me.
We are all familiar with the «He was never meant to be there, he was only meant to watch» phrase (that didn't change my brain chemistry at all) right? Now, someone has always being... Odd about it, maybe the fact that is was the answer of «Why are you so sent on Grian?» that Martyn said. Everyone just kinda agree that it was refered to the life series, but what if the answer is that Grian wasn't supposed to be there even before? In Evo.
Because Evo Grian marks almost all the things of a watcher since... Day one? First, well, he was the admin so he had the power around the server, he was supposed to keep track of changing the versions (so he must have had a little bit of knowledge that the Watchers weren't that dangerous to let them participate in the changes of versions).
Second of all, he was very isolated from the rest of the members since the beginning, he was the one that lived further away from everybody else in a version where you couldn't run, there wasn't minecarts or horses or a way to get there quickly.
Third, he wanted to have access to everything. With the station to go from spawn to his base and the secret tunnels under it that were supposed to connect with everybody base (he abandoned the project pretty quickly but that isn't the point tho).
He has always been a prankster, but he hasn't never been the one that does the easy pranks, no, Grian send BigB to a journey with riddles and rhymes only to getting back to his base to activate a tnt trap. He make a treasure hunt with no treasure at the end (well technically it was but if you picked it, it would activate a trap). He trap his secret tunnels when they were compromised and told people to send comments to the other people on the smp tricking them to go see (poor Jimmy). And that isn't counting his multiple 'just tnt it' pranks. Also, he liked messing with people when they were streaming, when he could watch them.
He also didn't wanted to obey the Watchers, twisting their rules and breaking them, didn't the listeners say something about the Watchers thinking they are above everyone else? That they don't have to give explanations?
And one of the things that just scream Watcher behavior it's how he made a entire escape room for Taurtis to complete, with everything you could think, riddles, mind tests, rooms with puzzles... Just because he could and he wanted, just for his enjoyment.
If that isn't a Watcher thing at this point I don't know what it is! And it could explain in the Evo lore why he was so calm to go with the Watchers after defeating the dragon, he was even excited to have the opportunity to watch what all his friend were gonna do even if he wasn't there anymore.
So yeah, part of my theory says that he is a Watcher from the beginning, if he knew or not that's a different history. The important part is that:
He stayed. He is there.
Grian is a player (or at least pretending to be one) like the others, he participates like everyone else, the rules apply to him too. He wants the rules to apply to him he wants to be like everybody, even if that means pain, break promises, break friendships, even if it means that he is only surviving.
But his constant effort to connect, to stay present is not something that beggings in life series, as you might have noticed, it started in Evo. His nature competing with what he really wanted for the control.
Using the same examples to his Watcher behavior:
He isolate himself to almost inmediatly trying to find a way for people to visit. And when he finished most part of his base structure he abandoned it, he say something like "I want to be more close to spawn, I feel like I have no idea to what is happening there" and went there to build Evo town.
Most of the time he gave people something in return after a prank/situation that he feel unfair, when the property police blew up on accident he build a new one, and he always apologiezed.
After the Watchers punished him once he didn't break the rules and he warned Taurtis about not doing it. Even when he always found ways to twisted or steal from them.
In the game that he made Taurtis play it was a prize at the end: A cake, dumb, but a prize that seem fair and that he knew Taurtis was gonna like, and he didn't lie.
So maybe when They took him back he was excited at first, new things, to see, to learn, to explote. Maybe things he forgot completely.
But then there was the rules, watch but not participate, watch and create but never involve yourself with the players. Maybe They had the hope that teaching him again there ways was gonna make him stay, but we know Grian, he gets bored quickly.
So he escaped and now we are in the life series. I'm not gonna extend to much here, I reblog someone else talking about how Grian is making an effort to stay there instead of going back and the implications that it has about The Watchers moving everything just to make him miserable.
But why? Why they want him back? Why is he so important to them that he can't be replaced or forgotten to live like a player?
And here I add the popular theory/headcanon of Grian being the first player to become a Watcher. Because that makes him important to them, it makes him a success, something to study, to see how far he can go.
But he isn't cooperating with them, the worst of their character: Watchers always want to do things their way.
In conclusion: Grian as always been a Watcher and the Evo SMP proves it. How this impacts everything else? I don't know!
Thank you for reading, this is my third time writing this because i don't know where the drafts are (if you haven't notice I'm quite new to this Tumblr thing) and i lost two of my rants there.

Jealous xisuma and polyhermits
It was stupid and childish. Xisuma was well aware of this, and yet his stomach churned and heart ached whenever he had to spend time with fWhip or Pixl. Especially when other hermits were around.
It was always wow it's incredible you managed to make custom tools easily recoverable, or you got that server data so quickly! Xisuma was glad the Empires server was in such capable hands, and realistically he knew having two admins was easier than one. Not to mention Empires was a fraction of the size of Hermitcraft.
Still Xisuma tried to excused him from any conversations that involved admin work while he was on the Empires server. This was supposed to be a vacation of sorts. He was supposed to be having fun running around as a pirate, not having his blood boil when Tango ran his mouth off with fWhip about chunk loading and entity cramming.
He huffed, climbing into one of the many levels of Hermitopia and settled down in a lounge. He took off his helmet and ran a hand through his hair, trying to banish any of those annoying, useless thoughts. Maybe he should try listening to what fWhip or Pixl talked about one of these days. Maybe he could learn something that could make Hermitcraft run better. Void knows it's needed with people like Doc around.
"Shishwammy!" Keralis' voice startled him out of his brooding, and some of his underlying anger melted away immediately. "Oh look at that pretty face."
Keralis cupped Xisuma's face, pressing his cheeks until he made a pucker face. X simply laughed and gently pulled away from his fellow hermit, picking up his helmet so Keralis could sit next to him. "Hi, K. What are you doing here? Other than to tease me."
Keralis sat down with a bounce, sidling up close to X's side. Their legs touched and X appreciated the normalcy of it. Keralis was easy to start talking, and the admin was always happy to listen and lose himself in the noise.
"-Oh and fWhip-" Xisuma tensed at the mention of the goblin, shoulders rising to his ears. He barely even noticed his own reaction until Keralis pointed it out. "Shishwammy? Everything okay?"
"Huh? Oh, yeah, everything's fine Keralis, don't worry."
Keralis was giving him that look, the look that meant he clearly didn't believe Xisuma. It was usually reserved for nights when X was claiming to have slept while five phantoms circled outside his base. He had half a mind to shove his helmet back on, but knew that was only going to prove Keralis' suspicions.
A very accusatory finger poked his chestplate. "Shishwammy, what did we say about burying emotions?"
"I'm not burying anything, K, honest." He stood up from the couch, giving in to his anxiety and pulling his helmet back over his head. "If anything I'm extra relaxed and unbothered. I don't have to worry about a server breaking down on me, or giant death machines powered by enough redstone to blow up the sun. Really, it's great that fWhip and Pixlriffs are able to handle the influx of people so easily."
There was a pause, the air between them tense. Then Keralis gasps, jumping up from the couch and leaning in close to Xisuma’s helmet. “Is our Shishwammy jealous?”
X splutters, flailing his hands in an attempt to push Keralis away from him. “Jealous? Why would I be jealous?”
“Shishwammy, Shishwammy, Shishwammy,” Keralis sighed, shaking his head and placing his hands on his hips. “Just because sweet fWhip and Pixlriffs are exceptional admins, doesn’t mean we think you’re any less exceptional.”
“Keralis, I'm not jealous.” X began to walk away, and was surprised when his boyfriend made no move to follow. He had a bad feeling about this…
---
Xisuma was hauling a shulker box out of a boat, tossing it onto a dock of Eversea. He lifted up his pirate hat, wiping the sweat off his face and pushing aside some of his hair. It was growing out and becoming a slight nuisance. He would need to get it cut before it started getting caught in his helmet seals. That was never a fun thing to deal with.
He was in the process of hopping out of his boat when rockets sounded above him, and he looked up to see Cleo landing just a few blocks away. “Ahoy!” He called in greeting.
Cleo had asked X to meet them on the outskirts of Eversea, and X had assumed it was to work on their little pirate ship. He had brought some materials and decided to take the water route to get him into the right headspace.
“X, right on time.” Cleo gripped his forearm, hauling him the rest of the way out of the boat. “Any specific reason you took a boat instead of flying?”
“Well you said you wanted to do something and since we were meeting in Eversea I figured it was pirate-y.” He gestures to his hat with a twirl of his hands.
“Well, I’m sorry to disappoint you, but I didn’t have anything like that in mind.” They nodded for him to follow, so he left his shulker box for now. It would be fine on the dock, he was sure. “I wanted to talk to you.”
Anxiety spiked in his stomach, and he immediately wished he had his helmet to hide behind. He settled to wringing his wrists in a way he hoped wasn’t too obvious. “Oh, okay. Uh, what did you want to talk about?”
“Well,” they dragged the word out, leading them further into the dense jungle. “A certain big eyed fellow told me you were feeling a bit jealous, and I knew I couldn’t let that stand.”
“Keralis…” Xisuma growled, shaking his head and taking a few larger steps to walk beside Cleo. “Listen, Cleo, Keralis thinks something is wrong when really there isn’t anything wrong. I’m not jealous of fWhip or Pix, honestly.”
Cleo gave him a far too dangerous smile, “That’s funny, because he didn’t mention who you were jealous of.”
X froze, internally cursing himself. He opened his mouth to try and defend himself or backtrack in some way, when his wrists were grabbed and he was pressed against a nearby tree. His arms were pinned to the sides, Cleo looming over him with a smile that made him feel hunted.
The predatorial look was gone a moment later, though, a much gentler one taking over Cleo’s face. One of their cold hands let go of one of his wrists to cup his burning cheek, and he couldn’t help but lean into it. “Xisuma, you know we appreciate everything you do, right? That we all think you’re the greatest admin to have ever lived?”
X let out a startled laugh, “That’s a bit much.”
“But it’s true. For us, anyway.” They leaned in and placed a gentle kiss to his nose that made his eyes cross. “We aren’t going to run and replace you at the first admins we see.”
“I know that…” X felt breathless with Cleo this close, and he knew that was no doubt part of their plan.
“Then why are you jealous of them, hm?”
“I’m not-” A hand gripped his jaw, tilting his head back against the tree. It pushed his hat off, it falling into the grass with a soft sound.
“Don’t try and lie to me, X. Tell me what’s going through that head of yours.”
It took more effort than X would like to admit to swallow down the excuses he had ready. It was pointless trying to hide from Cleo, he knew this well by now. He hesitated, trying to squirm out of Cleo’s grasp only for their grip to tighten. He settled on looking off to the side, mouth moving as he tried to figure out how to articulate his thoughts.
“I just- They-” The hand on his jaw relaxed slightly so he could speak easier. “They do so much more than I do. The hermits appearing out of nowhere didn’t even seem to phase them. If even half of the Empires members had appeared out of nowhere on Hermitcraft I would have been panicking, but they handled it so easily.”
Cleo’s hand moved back to his cheek, and he kept his gaze averted, shame burning inside him. He should be above things like this. “And how do you know they weren’t overwhelmed, hm?”
“Well, they-”
“Not to mention, there’s two of them. There’s only one of you, X.”
“Yeah, but-”
“But nothing.” Cleo’s hand slides up into his hair, his body naturally relaxing at the touch. He meets their eyes again, seeing nothing but sincerity in them. “Comparing yourself to others doesn’t do you any good, ‘Suma. We love you just the way you are, for all that you do and put up with us.”
They press a gentle kiss to his lips, and he melts into it, eyes sliding shut. Their murmured praises settle into a mush of background noise, shadowed by their gentle touches that convey the meaning just as well.
---
Xisuma landed with a squelch under his feet, the skulk that had overtaken the grass sinking under his weight.
“Ah, Xisuma! What a pleasant surprise. Come to join in on the fun?”
Cub looked… Well, if it was anyone other than Cub, X would say that he looked concerning. However, the admin was more than used to Cub’s shenanigans, and how deep he embraced a role. He had heard about how jarring it was for the emperors, though, which seemed ironic considering the environment of the emperors themselves.
“Not join in, just to see what you’re doing.”
Cub didn’t need to be asked twice to delve into the story he’s created, explaining the point in spreading the skulk over the server. He was clearly enjoying himself, and nothing made Xisuma happier than seeing his hermits smiling.
“I’m glad we came to Empires, even if it was to just do something like this.” Cub finished, sitting down on the bit of remaining grass X had settled on to.
“To do something like this? You wouldn’t do it on Hermitcraft?”
“Nah, I wouldn’t want to bother you with that.” Confusion bubbled up in Xisuma’s chest, surrounded by a thin layer of fondness. He tilted his head at Cub, asking him to elaborate. “I know this is gonna be a pain to clean up, and I of course would do it if anyone asked me to. But, skulk is a bit unpredictable and it spreads to places I sometimes don’t even know. Pix told me about a trick he has to locate specific blocks within a certain area. It’ll make clean up easier for them.”
Any fondness X had still been feeling was replaced quickly with a lingering bitterness that he had been trying to get rid of. “Ah, I see.”
Cub could see through his helmet, though, and shoved X’s shoulder lightly. “That’s not me dissing your admin abilities, ‘Suma. I just don’t want you to try and come up with a solution to a problem I created, especially if this place already has said solution. You have your own stuff you’re working on and you barely rest as is. You do enough for us as an admin as is, I don’t want to add any more to your plate.”
Xisuma took a deep breath, and tried to let the rest of the bitterness fade away. Cub was looking out for him. Just like the rest of his hermits. At this point they’ve nearly all come to him individually and reassured him that he is their favorite admin, and as X thought about it, a settlement of acceptance washed over him.
Maybe he isn’t as technical of an admin as fWhip or Pix, but he is enough. His hermits don’t need anything else from him.
