So I just had a thought
Remember how in the beast universe Dazai ends his life by jumping off a building? And Chuuya is upset that he didn't get to kill him?
But Dazai fell to his death. He fell.
Dazai's ability has no exceptions. He's immune to everything you throw at him. But his body obeys gravity just like everybody else.
And gravity obeys Chuuya.
Guys, he fell.

Do the Minizai's and Dazai's No Longer Human nullify each other?
Might be funny, Chuuya would make Dazai levitate when he's annoying him
I'm not arguing with the funny part (actually Chuuya might be able to pull something like that even with NLH there, depending on how Dazai's ability actually interacts with it), but if they nullified each other they would no longer be nullifying each other. We would have a paradox on our hands. That would mean a singularity... or maybe nothing happens.
Tumblr media
Singularities are rare. Most of the time, one ability will win over the other. Sometimes, nothing will happen. Hirotsu's Falling Camellia, to push back anything he touches, can beat Chuuya and Verlaine's abilities. It's not a singularity.
Not all singularities are earth-shattering. Oda and Gide's let them have an entire conversation in a fraction of a second. According to BEAST, Akutgawa and Atsushi's black claws combo is a singularity.
Dazai is living his life every day seemingly free of singularities, unafraid of contact with his own skin. Even if touching another nullifier would indeed create a paradox, my tinies are fantastical little creatures that are a sort of extension of the big ones, so my answer is a big "nothing different happens"
Now, on another note, to keep things fun we also have these:
Tumblr media
It's still very possible for Dazai's ability to create a singularity, like anyone else, provided it's put in the right context. With BEAST, it's that their world exists inside of an ability (paradox); in Dead Apple, the abilities were separated from their hosts, so the conditions were special.
For my part, unless I have a plot point centred around said potential singularity, I'm not gonna touch those. Everyone else, go wild. I'm not even sure I've ever read a fanfic that was playing with singularities, that's a still brand new sandbox to play in. And singularities have been a known thing since Dark Era!
Everyone go come up a singularity right now. We have time to make up for.

The potential of knowing Mori's past with Atsushi joining the PM is so amazing because there's a huge contrast in those two with Atsushi being more like a Vita-Sexualis-Young Mori compared to Dazai who is more of a Dancing-Girl-Young Mori

Beast Atsushi who can't even tell Chuuya about why Dazai did what he did.
Because only 2 people can know or the world will be unstable.
Atsushi who had to watch both his mentors fall apart and can only watch.
He knows Dazai wanted him to leave the Port Mafia for good. He'd want Atsushi to smile and be free of his chains.
But it doesn't matter what Dazai wanted now is it... Because he's gone.
He's gone and it's all Atsushi's fault.
If he was stronger... If he had been faster, Dazai wouldn't be...
Atsushi had gotten a glimpse of the light, of what he could be had he stayed with Mori at the Orphanage.
... And he turned his back on it, and walked away.
It was a life that Atsushi didn't deserve, he had failed to save Dazai. And for that he would pay with his own suffering and pain.
Chuuya didn't deserve that.
So Atsushi bore his hatred, it was better for Chuuya to hate Atsushi more than he hated himself.
No one else could see it but Chuuya was in pain, so much pain. But Atsushi knew him better, he'd seen what most hadn't.
Atsushi is the first to kneel before the new Boss, and swearing his loyalty to him.
If he sees suprise on Chuuya's face, the first emotion other than pain and anger the man had felt in a long time, he doesn't comment.
Atsushi falls into near silence, only speaking when spoken too. His address is always formal and he fades into the shadows and stalks the halls like a ghost.
It's like he stopped existing.
Chuuya hates it. He shuts that shit down because it feels wrong, so completely and utterly wrong to see Atsushi act like some perfect tamed beast.
That's not the smart-ass kid he knows. And fuck it Chuuya isn't losing him too.
"I'm not gonna vanish on you, Atsushi." Says Chuuya one night, Atsushi's eyes widen but Chuuya isn't done.
"I'm not gonna ask what you saw, frankly I don't wanna know... But, you didn't fail him. You haven't failed me either. "
Tears are falling down Atsushi's cheeks before he can even register it, Chuuya sighs pulling him into a hug.
And that's all it takes for the White Reaper to break down. Chuuya holds him throughout, stopping him from apologising after.
"And none of that boss stuff in here. You got that?"
"Sure thing Boss."
Chuuya snorts, relieved when Atsushi shyly smiles back. "Okay, Chuuya."
They had a long way to go before either of them could even be considered fine, but they'd be okay.
"Typical mackerel, bet your having a right fucking laugh at us aren't you... Bastard... " Says Chuuya, after sending Atsushi away.
He can feel his own tears in his eyes that he let's fall in private. And even if no ones there he address's his next words quietly.
"I'd say I've got him, but kids got me too. Go rest in hell or wherever the fuck you ended up...wait for me would ya? Im gonna be a while."
He smiles, for the first time in a long time. "And when I get there I'm gonna kill you myself."

the brief explanation whole BookTM thing in beast sounded very meta. Idk how to put this into words, so here’s a pic
Tumblr media
also, the fact that whatever’s written has to have a narrative structure/follow a storyline only adds to the meta-ness

heres my reaction to finishing beast (spoilers obviously) (this is turning out really long I'm just shoving all of my theories and analysis ideas in it without organization)
I'm going to make a separate post with some panels that absolutely destroyed me
Why didnt dazai tell chuuya about the beast world secrets instead of atsushi and akutagawa!!! if only two people can know he could have told chuuya and they could have protected the world for oda together (I am actually crying over this)
they still could have made atsushi and akutagawa partners if it was that important chuuya deserved better
buttttt chuuya is such a small part of this universe and I understand the story asagiri decided to tell. I just wish dazai was a different kind of person and made different decisions. their relationship is strange but I dont doubt that dazai could have manipulated it to be something capable of that
why did dazai come up with this horrible convoluted long term plan of abusing and traumatizing atsushi and akutagawa ober years to get them together for one fight and tell them the truth. dazai is so bizzare and perplexing
he isnt canon dazai, he just saw canonzais memories and ran with it. he saw how much oda meant to dazai and decided to protect the world where he was alive and happy at the expense of everyone else, including himself. if only oda knew the sacrifices dazai made on his behalf.
Mori taking over the orphanage and being a good guy and stepping up as atsushis father?? dazai cared at least a little about atsushi clearly, he let him and kyoka go to the light before he killed himself and set up mori to care for him. he knew atsushi would be upset after his death and accounted for that in his plan. hes not completely heartless and distant like he seems
he saw canonzais memories and set out to find atsushi and akutagawa and fabricate something similar to canon but why did make the changes he did? no way he saw canon universe and decided to switch atsushi and akutagawas positions for fun. did he see how akutagawa turned out in canon and decide he'd be better off not being raised in the mafia? was it out of curiosity about atsushis character and how he'd be if he was trained in the mafia? was it a decision in the moment he met akutagawa and decided to go with atsushi instead?
atsushi isn't as wholly internally pure as canon and fanon imply. when hes put in the environment he excels as a high ranking mafia member, killing people with seemingly no regret. yet he still finds and deeply cares for kyoka, and obviously cares for dazai (clearly shown when hes killing himself). canon akutagawa is a very lonely character, but even put in his place atsushi finds people to care about. so maybe there is some deep intrinsic love and care about him, even if he was trained or manipulated or grew to excel in his position in the mafia.
I'm still hung up on how dazai saw canonzais memories and decided to sacrifice even people canonzai cared about for odas sake. because other people got to have happy universes and oda only had that one? so even if he hurt atsushi, who canon him cares about, its okay bc hes happy in other universes and oda needs to be happy in at least one?
I dont remember much about beast soukoku, there really isn't much about them, but I do truly wonder why dazai didnt tell chuuya about the book. atsushi and akutagawa wouldnt have needed to be hurt so bad and hed be able to stay alive and personally protect odas universe. even if hes empathetically challenged and doesnt care much about using and hurting others, why wouldnt he prefer to personally know about and protect the universe? why does he trust leaving it to atsushi and akutagawa?
mmmmmmm this was so upsetting. going to go watch the live action later

Beast End Credit Scene
Major Beast Spoilers ahead just warning you now.
I finally finished watching the Beast movie and I need to talk about something right now. I don't have access to my copy of the light novel but for those of you who watched the movie, did the end credit scene happen in the book? Because I am going feral over it right now. I saw a picture of it somewhere on the internet but I thought it was a cosplay but it's real and I'm kind of freaking out.
Just the idea of Dazai dying and then Chuuya going fucking ballistic destroying a whole shit ton of government officials? He goes on to explain how pissed he was that he wasn't the one to kill Dazai but I don't believe it, given that his next order was to destroy the people he thought were responsible for Dazai's death? I ship them (If that wasn't clear by this point) and I had an idea for a fanfiction that was pretty damn similar to what happened in the movie and so this scene kinda freaked me out.
So just, did anyone else see it? Thoughts? Questions? Comments? Concerns? I would love to talk about it :)))

Spoilers for the ending of Bungou stray dogs Beast.
.
.
You think Dazai ever realised that in the end, Atsushi was going to be put through the same pain he was in?
Except worse because Atsushi actually knows him in this world.
And he cares so much for him, Atsushi would do anything for Dazai.
As much as Dazai misses Oda, in this world they are strangers.
Oda doesn't know Dazai and Dazai does not know him.
Not personally, only from memories that don't belong to him.
Atsushi just watched the man who saved him, gave him everything he has and the purpose to live on, die.
Right infront of his eyes with a smile on his face.
Original universe Dazai at least got to hold Odasaku when he died.
Atsushi doesn't even get that, he was trying to process everything Dazai was telling him and Akutugawa.
Before it was over.
4 and a half years and his mentor, his boss is gone. And this Atsushi still retains the ideal that if he can't save people he doesn't deserve to live.
One of the only people he's ever cared about, he couldn't save.
He couldn't save the one who saved him.
Maybe that's why Dazai never wanted him to go back to the Orphanage, so he'd never learn that lesson.
It's what Mori is trying to help him let go off.
But in that moment Atsushi can hear a scream as Dazai falls and it doesn't hit him till later, that it's him who's screaming.
.... How can he go on after this?

Okay so I keep thinking about ch.39 and it's mostly about Atsushi and dealing with his feelings about the headmaster's death. One thing that keeps bothering me is Dazai's monologue at the end of it. At first, as you read through it, it seems like Dazai is trying to comfort Atsushi by acknowledging that the headmaster was very abusive, but in the end he's here today and probably stronger due to it. This seems like an appropriate response, until these panels:
Tumblr media
I think this is a little look into Dazai's mind. It makes me think that everything he just said to Atsushi weren't just comfort statements, he actually thinks Atsushi should see the headmaster as a father figure.
(also beast spoilers later continue at your own risk)
While a lot of Dazai's backstory is still really unknown, we do know that he was definitely abused and manipulated by Mori. I'm gonna take a leap here and say that Dazai sees Mori the same as the headmaster. Mori is someone who treated him like shit, but at the end of the day, Mori's actions (which got Oda killed) were the reason that Dazai to left the mafia and ultimately end up "on the good side." Mori keeps him on his toes, Dazai has to keep being better and make no error in judgement or planning in to keep his colleagues safe. While Dazai resents Mori and everything he's done, he views it all as crucial in his development to help others. Even though Mori's intention was definitely not to make him a "good" person, Mori is still the reason that happened for Dazai.
For Atsushi, the headmaster in his head is constantly berating him and pushing him to not be weak, because only those who help others are worthy of living. While with terrible methods, the Headmaster's reasoning was to give him a person to loathe and despise, which would keep Atsushi moving forward in spite.
"Father" is a really strong word for Dazai to use in that statement and I really think it confirms that Dazai's father figure is someone equally fucked up. While it doesn't justify anything that he did to Akutagawa, I think it adds a layer of explanation: as someone who was abused and made stronger, that is why he continued the cycle and thought/thinks it is the most effective method.
I think my point is that it's sad Dazai thinks this way and if we ever get his full backstory it's definitely gonna be really messed up. I think that the parallel with Mori becoming the new orphanage director in Beast is also a way to connect the two. If we consider Beast Mori a reflection of himself, he tells Atsushi that "Using violence to make others yield, ruling by fear-I know better than anyone how efficient and versatile these approaches are. Therefore, I can say this with absolute certainty: such methods should never be used to educate. These are the most barbarous of acts an adult can do to a child."
TLDR: Dazai needs therapy bc he doesn't know what a healthy relationship is
