Do you also think that this Tiktok sound from Lana Del Rey's "Choose your last words, this is the last time you and I, we were born to die" is perfect for Bartimaeus and Nathaniel's last scene?

And the sound "you're in the wind, I'm in the water - nobody's son, nobody's daughter" is perfect for Nathaniel and Kitty, because they were both abandoned by their parents????

Can we talk about how the only person Nathaniel trusted the most (After Ms. Underwood and Ms. Lutyens weren't in his life anymore) was Bartimeus except like. Not really??? He couldn't trust ANYONE around him and felt like he, in a way, could trust Bartimeus but also no he couldn't. I know at some point he must have gone "Okay Bartimeus won't tell anyone about my name perhaps. It's been so long" but the environment he lives in and the instilled trust issues I KNOW had him thinking that anxious little thought of "But he Could. And why wouldn't he? Look at how you treat him. He COULD". For Nathaniel the only person he could feasibly trust is Bartimeus and that trust isn't really....there, in the first place. It's more of "he gives me companionship in some way" then actual trust. He was so isolated guys. He was always so vigilant and high strung and the fucking trust issues are SO insane and the worst part is they ARE warranted look at the people he's surrounded with? It's horrible the absolute 0 sense of security. I mean they really were threatening his life at age 14 I can't do this anymore guys. Fuck. Thinking about Nat too hard makes me wanna kms 😞💔

I doubt Aabria has read the Bartimaeus Trilogy but Suvi is starting to give me big Nathaniel energy. Something something the Empire corrupts all who participate in the system of power structures... Something something becoming that which you thought you were destroying... Something something magic as a tool to be used not a force of nature to be collaborated with... Something something authority disguising insecurity... That's a tasty wizard right there...

It has just occurred to me that one of the most plausible and hilarious historical events for Bartimaeus Of Uruk, the djinni who was active in ancient Sumeria, to have been involved in is the Ea-Nasir incident. I can't decide what's funnier: one of Ea-Nasir's customers gets mad enough that they summon a very powerful djinni to hand deliver the latest complaint tablet along with some thinly veiled threats, or that Bartimaeus is summoned by Ea-Nasir himself and is an active participant in selling shitty copper and dealing with angry customers. Barti would never admit that Ea-Nasir was a role model to him, but being in the employ of a man who kept all the complaints sent to him archived for his own entertainment and took great pride in being the most annoying guy possible was surely a formative influence.
