Dumb story time!

so I live in madison wisconsin, and at the terrace, there are these special chairs known as terrace chairs.

^these guys^

Turns out there's been a problem with people stealing them, and in a magazine for the university the terrace belongs to, they said that if caught, a 50 dollar fine would ensue.

They wrote below that getting a terrace chair for yourself only cost 60 dollars.

Can anyone tell me why a literal minor understands the problem with this, whereas the people making this magazine don't?

Note that it only says if caught. They printed to all people who are associated with UW that it's quite literally cheaper to get caught for stealing then it is to pay for your own.

BEES!

I just saw the perfectly logical and believable (bee-lievable?) motion picture experience known as The Beekeeper. It's big, dumb fun, but that's not what I'm here for. No spoilers for anything important that wasn't in the trailers.

I'm a middle school teacher. A couple of years ago I started opening my classes by saying something like "Hello, friendly friends and unfriendly foes!" A weird, meaningless thing to confuse my students. No connection to anything...

...until this movie. The bad guys pull a scam that requires the mark to visit a website. The name of that site? friendlyfriends.net!

Naturally, I had to check what they put on that site. My guess would have been a fake virus thing, or a link to the official beekeeper site. Imagine my surprise when the domain was unregistered!

Long story short: Please enjoy my new site, https://friendlyfriends.net! If you have suggestions for content, I'm all ears.

Oh, in case you were wondering: the .com site is a holding page, and the .org has a single image with a happy face, a title, and the creepy tagline "safe | fun | consensual."

First off I’m not trashing anything, I’m simply critiquing. Second it’s not the marketing I have a problem with it’s how she’s marketing her comic, if she’s even in charge of that.

Hinting that a mc who was severely assaulted btw , is going to get a sex scene where she’s engaging in consensual sex and then glossing over her development around it—

(It’s okay if there wasn’t a graphic depiction of it, its fine if she didn’t show it)

Just to get ppl to go to fast pass, and use up coins is disgusting.

Especially when u could’ve easily used it to show your audience the difference between a loving caring partner and a predatory, abuser .

So sorry for having common sense and being appalled at the fact that an author showed her mc get assaulted, yet barely touch on her comfort with consensual sex 🙄

Sorry for having nuance And holding this poor story telling accountable.

You can put hours of work into something but that doesn’t absolve it of criticism. Nothing no matter how hard someone works on—

FYI the Bible isn’t a WEBTOON it’s a book with words. And full sentences. There’s this amazing search engine called google. Use it.

It’s also incredibly ironic u call me a “religious idiot “ when the comic itself is based on actual deities that ppl still worship, and have spoken up about the disrespect they’ve received along with their faith.

Sounds like you need to reevaluate your thought process and educate yourself .

If caring about the way assault is depicted and used as a meager plot device in media, instead of being told in a respectful manner makes me a “religious idiot” ——

No, my body DOES NOT. My autistic ass does not want hugs. This is the kinda thing my mom would send me to “prove” that my “autistic preference” should be ignored because “my body needs hugs” stop please. you can still sell your toys without putting random untrue claims on it in order to sell it. I doubt they had autistic and other people with sensory issues in mind, which isn’t great. Although it’s probably unintentional it’s still potentially harmful marketing. Idk just say “our toy gives great hugs!”

All im saying is the teaser that was released the day before did a better job at showing the gameplay than the actual 7 minute one.

And the fact that the teaser was used to hype up the 7 minute video, that's not good marketing.....

the whole guilt-tripping language in posts about important topics paired with how I'm still getting bitches in my notes talking about why it's actually good to tell "bad" people to kill themselves continues to prove to me that a lot of people have absolutely no concept of social justice or activism outside of assuming the worst of and then viciously attacking strangers on the internet
