churning these out a little faster. meet the female sniper! as a child growing up in florida, life was tough having to navigate the various dangers of the resorts and golf courses. one day, the sniper witnessed her parents being murdered by alligators and swore vengeance. from that day forward, she became a big game hunter.
Tumblr media
growing up, her blood boiled with a quiet rage that came out in the form of cynical cheerfulness. where most would show discomfort and disdain, the sniper would have a sanguine optimism. smiling in the face of adversity, and even death later on, the sniper became one of the most well known hunters in florida. she even tried to go international and hunt for the loch ness monster.
Tumblr media
on her plane ride to scotland however, she was interrupted by a woman in a purple dress who offered her a different kind of game to hunt. the greatest game of all: Homo sapiens. as far as the public knows, mary-anne died in the plane crash.

One Dress a Day Challenge
November: Oscar Winners
The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert / Hugo Weaving as Anthony "Tick" Belrose (Mitzi Del Bra)
Year: 1994
Designer: Tim Chappel and Lizzy Gardiner
In a movie full of flamboyant costumes, this minidress adorned with pink and orange flip-flops definitely stands out for its original materials. It's got a definite 1960s vibe, between the length, the colors, and the "pop art" feel to it. Accessories include matching earrings, knee-high "gladiator" sandals, a cotton-candy-pink wig, and many large rings.
This was the first movie I ever saw Hugo Weaving in, so he wasn't cemented as "Agent Smith" in my mind, as he seems to have been for those who first encountered him in The Matrix. Consequently, I had no trouble shifting to viewing him as Elrond in the LOTR movies.

thought I would share some of the incredible amphibian diversity we see in our garden. all of these creatures are from the same genus of treefrogs, Litoria (excepting Green Tree frogs, which are also often described as genus Ranoidea).
Tumblr media
a Broad-palmed Rocket Frog (Litoria latopalmata), who we have spotted in the bog cave the past few nights! this species has proven to be highly variable in colour and patterning, so always interesting to encounter.
Tumblr media
the pebble-shaped Desert Tree Frog (Litoria rubella), who hunt insects on my car in multitudes.
Tumblr media
one of my favourites, the Peron's Laughing Tree Frog (Litoria peronii). at a distance they appear a uniform beige, but a closer look reveals flecks of emerald green across textured skin. this species tends to be a bit larger than the other frogs, but is still dwarfed by the Green Tree Frog.
Tumblr media
a Slender Bleating Tree Frog (Litoria balatus), who I have posted before. one of the smallest of the frogs we see, but nonetheless intriguing with their yellow toes, and vibrant red eye.
Tumblr media
last, and largest, is the conspicuous Green Tree Frog (Litoria/Ranoidea caerulea), a species found across much of the continent, and frequently found around human dwellings.
that's 5 species of tree frog all found within our relatively small garden, which is pretty amazing. we've also recently encountered a pair of Striped Marsh Frogs (Lymnodynastes sp.) around the pond (hopefully I can get a good photo soon), and of course there are the ever-present Cane Toads (Rhinella marina).

BLAHAJTRIP [2022]
1:1, phone camera, in order: Corrigin, Wave Rock, Border Village, Iron Knob, Great Australian Bight, Port Augusta, Streaky Bay, Adelaide
BLAHAJTRIP is an eight-photo set of images taken while travelling through Southwestern Australia for two weeks by car. The stuffed shark plays a symbolic role, representing the transitional nature of travel, as well as the liminal stage of the photographer's life, drawing parallels between the two. All images, except the last, anthropomorphise the shark by virtue of its isolation within the frame. All eight photos appear in chronological order of the timeline of travel, and showcase the journey away from the photographer's current place of residence to his second childhood home.
Interactions are extremely appreciated.

jane harper does such a good job with setting as an oppressive entity that hangs over every character, every history, every decision made. it's her forte and the film adaptations of her book do an excellent job of translating that.
