I find it hilariously stupid when some K̶a̶t̶a̶a̶n̶g̶ s̶h̶i̶p̶p̶e̶r̶s̶ undermine the maturity gap between Katara and Aang by saying: "Oh I love that Katara is taller than Aang, and Aang is short cuz it breaks societal norms"
IT'S NOT LIKE AANG WAS BORN SHORT AND KATARA IS BORN TALLER,
Aang is shorter than Katara In This PARTICULAR AGE PHASE because He's A 𝙋𝙍𝙀𝙏𝙀𝙀𝙉, he still hasn't hit puberty yet, meanwhile Katara is already a teen and older
Tumblr media
To examplify that, me and my brother who have the same age difference as Katara and Aang respectively, when he was 12/13 I was taller than him, but when he started to hit puberty he drastically changed and even became Taller than me
In fact when Aang grew up, he became Taller than Katara, as seen from the photo of Aang and Katara as adults which destroys the argument that "Aang is short"
Tumblr media
The "Shorter dude/Tall gal couple" only applies to Zaheer and P'li because when they're both grown adults (*given also that Zaheer is older) P'li is taller than him
Tumblr media
What's even funny is that Zaheer himself is actually tall (he's 6'1) but P'li is just a giraff

Everyone talks about how towards the end of the series we see waterbending techniques being used in firebending etc and like showing how they are all learning from each other but literally six episodes into book one we have Sokka chopping off the ends of spears to render his opponents useless like Zuko did to him in episode one……..

Completely random but
While I was reading about the ATLA LA creators butchering Sokka's character arc and the Kyoshi Warriors' plot it suddenly hit me
In 2x05 "Avatar's Day" Aang wears full Avatar Kyoshi gear at his trial that Sokka and Katara brought from the Kyoshi island including accurately done makeup
They didn't bring the sensei and Aang couldn't go with them as he was imprisoned, obviously
There's exactly one person in the team who spend the most time with the Kyoshi Warriors
Sokka wore AND learned how to do the Kyoshi makeup, and used his new skill to help Aang months later
And by omitting this "unnecessary" tidbit of him being introduced to the Kyoshi outfit in S1 the LA creators caused a plothole way farther down the line
(unless they're planning on removing the Avatar's Day plot altogether, which is quite big on worldbuilding, should I say)
Like, the og show plot is very condensed while not appearing to be as such, that is until one tries to get rid of the "extra" "not-needed" scenes and nothing makes sense anymore.

Book 1 in a nutshell
Zuko: Well look who we have here. If it isn’t my second worst enemy
Aang: Second? Who’s the first?
Zuko: Me of course. I dedicate a lot of time to hating myself I deserve to be number one at something

I am so hyped for the live action avatar! I love everything we have seen so far, but I particularly love my girl Kataras outfit, so I decided to do a redraw from the show with her wearing the outfit (I couldn't be bothered to draw the sleeves lol)

This is the image I redew (I reused the background):

This is the outfit btw if you haven't seen it:

Writing an enemies to lovers story is so much fun. It’s like watching a cat fight its reflection in a mirror. You guys can bite and bleed and curse each other’s existence as much as you want but it’s no use. No lasting harm will be done. In *checks notes* about two books and twenty chapters you WILL be confessing your undying love for each other.

"Earthbenders! You don't know me, but I know of you. Every child in my Water Tribe Village was rocked to sleep with stories of the brave Earth Kingdom, and the courageous Earthbenders who guard its borders. Some of you may think that the Fire Nation has made you powerless. Yes, they have taken away your ability to Bend, but they can't take away your courage. And it is your courage they should truly fear, because it runs deeper than any mine you've been forced to dig, any ocean that keeps you far from home. It is the strength of your hearts that make you who you are. Hearts that will remain unbroken when all rocks and stone has eroded away. The time to fight back is now! I can tell you the Avatar has returned! So remember your courage, Earthbenders. Let us fight for our freedom!"

Over 10 years later and that speech still gives me chills.

Okay, I’ve actually have REALLY been loving the Avatar live action and haven’t had many complaints. But what is wrong with episode 7???
Like why isn’t Katara more angry? Where is her crazy feminine rage😡?? Somehow her fight scene with Pakku was really disappointing. It feels like there are very little stakes. Maybe I like the original too much.
Also, why hasn’t Aang even attempted water bending and he’s about to go to the big final fight?

Y’all I have two points on a conspiracy theory board and I’m dangerously close to connecting them
Tumblr media
This is Katara in Book 1 after they go ice dodging and she gets the “mark of the brave”
Tumblr media
This is Katara in Book 3 as The Painted Lady (ecoterrorist queen)
I know the marks are slightly different but. When she got her mark in Book 1 it was painted on her, and in Book 3 she painted it on herself. I think there’s something to be said about how she could have thought the mark in Book 1 was more similar to her application bc she never actually saw it, only felt it being applied. Do we think there’s a connection here??

An alternate ending to their escape from Pohuai
Aang: isn’t the general narrative supposed to be “you saved my life, now I owe you a debt?”
Zuko: Nope, other way around. “You saved my life, so now I’m your problem. If you don’t like me then kill me”
Aang: what?
Zuko: God wanted me dead, now you get to find out why

So in the live action iroh is no longer shorter than zuko.
Tumblr media
I think their entire dynamic changes because of this. A little. Maybe. Not in a good or bad way, but in a uhh different flavour way?
Tumblr media
Like how zuko is not as aggressive with his uncle like he used to be. There's a lot more respect. The eye contact is different. Maybe iroh looks more intimidating at first glance. It becomes more obvious that zuko's just a teenager.
And while I always prefer the animated version, the live action does add extra bits (while simultaneously cutting off and taking away from the original plot) this height thing suddenly gave me uhh thoughts? apart from the other plus points of the live action like the range of expressions on the actors' faces,,, so this one thing made me look at iroh way more seriously and uh yeah that's all I have to say don't mind me I'm just thinking
