ohhhhhh my god its been so long since ive like. been here.

first things first is i have updated my info page for all details on getting the manga/light novels etc. to be updated properly but also wow. tumblr killed my page so it took me forever to figure out how to make it work (hint: it had javascript in it) so it unfortunately no longer has my neat askbox included feature but alas.. what can you do (i just added a link at the bottom)

volume 5 of the manga came out recently (does a month ago count as recent?) with a very very neato pamphlet bonus if you can get it (digital is also available) which includes a colored! comic of tsukina and ill post-volume 5 storyline very cute highly recommend (link on that info page)

but anyways due to the above and also getting caught up in trying to make myself a little timeline of where all the events in this series take place (super productive day i am very into excel) i ended up not getting like any actual work done on the next chapter except realizing its a cool 21 pages that i am like only 7 pages into i was Really hoping it was short or like not 21 pages

i know its been like. forever. looking at the published date on the light novel its been like 2 years since it was released and i am pretty sure its been a year and a half (maybe the full 2) since i started translating this light novel and obviously it has been very inconsistent.. but i do truly want to finish this translation if you can believe it lol so bear with me.. i am gonna try to work on more of chapter 9 tomorrow and maybe i can at least get some progress done.. and for tonight im gonna.. look at my asks! after years of waiting lol although i think this post will mostly sum up how things have been

Real Estate 'Listings' Info

TL:DR Vacant apartments. They're a sim-making prompt. That sim will live in that apartment in my game. Only occults are invited. (See sim guidelines at least, if you read nothing else)

A newly developed neighborhood for all of freak-kind to live in peace, amongst themselves or while learning to integrate with human society!

After crash-landing in the yard of the Landgraab mansion some 20-odd years ago, they took them under their wing, showing them the wonders and joys of capitalism! Delighted by this, among other earthly delights, E.T. has spent their time on Earth finding ways to introduce culture to everyone they can. With a little investment help from their old pals the Landgraabs, they've hit it big enough for their dreams to come true: a housing development just for people like them. Aliens, Vampires, Werewolves, and more!

What is this?

I'm starting a new 'starter save', a personal save file that I will clone each time I want to begin a brand new save game. This has every lot changed, every EA townie updated, and a few new townies added in. Some of these new townies are made by me, but the rest? That's where this project comes in! Real Estate 'Listings' are a (hopefully) fun idea I came up with to invite other simmers to make some sims for my new starter save.

How does it work?

I will post photos of a vacant* apartment. This is your prompt for making a sim! If the whole apartment is decked out in purple, maybe it's a sim that really likes purple? If there's a lot of books and bookshelves, maybe they're a writer? It's up to you how much personality you want to give them! Once the 'listing' photos go up, you can comment or reblog with a notice that you would like to claim that spot. After the spot has been claimed, I will turn off reblogs for 3 days, during which time you can make and submit your sim! (If you need more time, let me know, but if I don't hear from you for 3 days, the listing will go back on the 'market'). Once an apartment has been filled, the post will be edited and the reblogs will stay off.

If a listing has reblogs disabled, then it's claimed (or occupied, check the original post to see!) You do not have to claim an apartment before submitting a sim, but I highly recommend it! If someone else claims the apartment they get dibs on it, even if you started your sim before they claimed it. But there's plenty of apartments to go around, so don't worry! You'll probably find another one that you like.

*It is possible that an apartment will already have a resident and will instead be looking for 1 or 2 roommates to move in.

To submit your sim:

You may make your own original post featuring your sim(s), or you can reblog the listing with your sim(s) if you find that easier, more organized, or whatever (if you claimed an apartment and reblogs are off, you'll have to comment to let me know I need to re-enable reblogs!). Make sure you @ssspringroll in your post so I don't miss it!!!

Your sim(s) do not have to be publicly downloadable if you do not wish for them to be, you may private message @exculis (my main) with the link if you prefer, or send a non-anonymous ask.

Sim creation rules/'guidelines':

You do not need to make a new sim for this, you are welcome to offload sim(s) from your gallery (that you made, or were born in-game) if you'd like

You do not need to write any kind of backstory, biography, or anything else about your sim(s). You can genuinely just post them with no commentary if that's all you feel like doing. Remember these are townies! I'm not asking for maximum effort. I'm asking for whatever you can scrounge up.

Sim(s) MUST be an occult of some sort, or intended to be an occult of sorts. If you do not have the pack associated with the occult you'd like to make, that's fine! Just specify what they are supposed to be in your post somewhere and I'll make sure they get turned into that occult when I place them in game

Aliens are preferred, but all in-game occults are acceptable (including plantsims!). That said, they do not need to follow game-lore. For example, I often make 'demons' that are actually vampires, or 'fairies' that are actually spellcasters. You can have fun with it! However, I will not install any mods that add in new occult types.

Hybrids are allowed and encouraged! I play with the occult hybrid stabilizer, and I love weird combos! If you aren't capable of making them a hybrid on your own, once again that's fine! Just specify what occult types they're supposed to be, and I'll get them set up as best I can in game.

Only one outfit (everyday) is required, it's up to you if you want to put any other outfits on them. I won't stop you. If their other outfits aren't done, they'll likely just get randomly generated ones from me (unless they end up a major character in one of my playthroughs, then they'll likely get a more personalized makeover)

You do not need to customize Alien Disguise form, vampire dark form, mermaid form, werewolf form, etc. You can if you would like to.

You aren't limited to just 1 sim per household. Many apartments have space to sleep multiple sims, you're welcome to make as many as you want. Human sims are permitted if they're family.

You aren't limited to 1 submission, but you can only have one outstanding claim at a time. If your claim runs out, you decide to give it up voluntarily, or you fulfill the claim by submitting a household, you are allowed to claim and submit again if you'd like.

Pets are permitted. Horses are not recommended. These are apartment buildings 😰

I have all the packs, and cc of any kind is permitted. I only ask that you please include the cc in the download when you share the sim

I won't install custom sliders. I have too many in my game as it is and your sim will probably look fine in my game without them

Disclaimers:

I do not write stories, this is not a 'submit your sim to be a character in my story'-type event. These sims will functionally be townies in my game that may interact with whomever I am playing at the time, and might not.

I will do my best to mention the original creators of the sims if/when they are featured in screenshots on this blog, but please understand I may forget. I will always direct people your way if they ask directly about a sim, though (if your username hasn't changed by then/I can still find you, of course)

I will not share your sims with anyone else. I will not share my starter save or any save files cloned from my starter save with anyone else.

I can and WILL change anything about your sim(s) that I want to. If you aren't okay with this, this isn't the event for you

Complex gender options are a-okay! I won't touch things like physical frame, pronouns, clothing preference, or other gender options. I do play with the LGBTQIA+ mod, though, with auto-assign settings that may assign them a gender identity or orientation different from what you intended.

None of the apartments or their buildings are available for download. If you really want one of them for some reason, shoot me a message I guess. You will not get any of its residents. See bullet 3.

This isn't a 'enter and you might get in' type game, this isn't a contest. If you send me a sim (unless there's some kind of game-breaking issue with them) then they will go in my game. Into an apartment. Until I run out of apartments, and then any further submissions will just be left to run around homeless.

Something y’all need to know about me is, if I message you or tag you or send you an ask or comment or address you in the tags, I am NOT expecting an answer! Not ever, and I mean that. I will not get upset if you never reply to it, and this is for two reasons:

before i pass out for the night. since my brain is back on dan and phil as if its 2016 or something i need to put this out into the world. this isnt some sort of important life changing post, just a personal funny thing

so when i was 13 and fixating on dan and phil, i read a lot of fanfics. like, i guarantee that even after all these years that, if i had the statistics, that fandom was the one i read the most fanfics for and constantly. i couldnt tell you what nearly any of them were about, and i have a feeling that many of them are probably lost to time by now. i also dont know if i need to mention that yeah, a lot of them were shipping, and yes ive long grown out of that. (the dnp fandom is actually what made me grow out of that)

anyway all this to say that over the last 6 years after i stopped fixating on dan and phil, one fanfic stuck with me and i just. i think about it every once in a while. its been over half a decade. it wasnt a groundbreaking fic, i dont remember any quotes or specifics, just the premise as of at least the first few chapters. idk why it stuck with me

it was literally a fic about. if the world had gotten to a point where almost every child was born as like, a science baby instead of a natural baby, and phil was a science baby, but dan was a natural baby. and there was somehow this like, thing where the science babies would bully the natural babies for some reason idek, and this was a highschool setting and i think dan was a new kid in school. and what gets me about the fic is that dan was some small shy scared kid and phil was some mean jerk bully. and how wild that is compared to how they are in real life

this isnt me trying to find the fic or the person who wrote it or any of that, this is literally just. i remember this fic at least once every few months and i needed to get it out of my brain somewhere

#there are few fics that i remember several years after i read them the first time. this is one of them #depressingly. some of the fics that are on that list are most definitely gone by now #there was one in the vt fandom i still think about 6 years later that i loved. but the person who wrote it hated it :[#the others that are on that list off the top of my head are the hlvrai mermaid fic and the hlvrai alien weed fic #my brain latches onto the most random fics to remember forever lol #my post #dan and phil #<- tagging for blog purposes. not because i want people to see this #if you see this post. good for you i guess ajfjshd #bur seriously if you know the fic/author of what im talking about. i mean itd be neat to find it again. but dont bother them yknow #its also wild how thats like. such a dystopian novel premise. not in a bad way just a neutral way #i love the premises that people come up with for fanfiction. like. Guys guys guys I decided to quit smoking wish me luck

i watched the pilot of brba the other night and it occured to me then that there is a specific kind of guy that i become obsessed with turning over and over in my head like observing a coin shine in the sunlight:

a tragic adult male figure that ends up hurting those closest to him (and/or) everyone around him, because of his own crumbling to society's expectations and pressures of him as a man, leader, patriarch, or simply as a person, and a slow succumbing to self-loathing, insanity, addiction, curse, evil, or just long-suffering... and the tragic consequences of his instability and harmful behaviors affect his family first, perhaps the ones he loves most, or the only ones which love him, before it finally gets around back to him and he begins to suffer tenfold. sometimes they are dads (biological, or adoptive), or they are something like an unofficial guardian to a child, or they *would* have had a child had it not been for their behavior. sometimes there's a redemption arc or redeemable qualities, and sometimes there's just a slow demise.

#THISSS is what my mind revolves around. this is what i think everyone else should be obsessed with and no one seems to be #from top to bottom beginning with the good guys: emiel regis | geralt of rivia | simon petrikov (ice king)#for 'decent': odysseus | agamemnon | nandor (i put them in 'decent' by their ancient standards. obviously the war + pillaging isn't great)#nandor i gotta be real with you was a last-minute addition to this because wwdits is a comedy but i realized he fits this formula #despite the 'stay dead' mention. i forgot about wwdits #and i also forgot that he fathered a bunch of children soooo i edited it to put him in the father area #the 'awesome / decent / stay dead' ranking is by my own personal judgement of them btw and how much i like them #im sorry to put simon so (relatively) low but who didn't hate the ice king in the first few seasons of AT...#i actually really like odysseus... he's my academic poor little meow meow... but... problematic fave #agamemnon and nandor i like but they are just stupid #and below that i just have hate and contempt in my heart for them. like i hope they die and suffer greatly #i would have put emhyr but the thing is that emhyr was evil (power-hungry and selfish) since the beginning and he didn't really become #corrupted or anything he just continued being a horrible person. like just read a question of price basically lol #i dont need to explain geralt or regis. or do i. maybe i should. idk #basically for geralt i just think about sword of destiny and something more and how he left ciri in brokilon and condemned the both of them #and also how he wouldnt take the child when he went to see calanthe in something more like just real dumbass tragic hero behavior #regis. he's not a tragic hero but he destroyed his life catastrophically. he suffered a lot and made it everybody else's problem #so if you have any recs on other characters that are like this maybe i will become obsessed with them idk.#i think they have to be at least somewhat likable. learn from their past actions and try to make things better. even if they dont succeed #actually if they dont succeed thats even better (see: geralt)#but if they just suck for real then i just don't even want to watch or read more like damn get some help or k*ll yourself #i should honestly make my OC's dad like this. he already 90% is. honestly.#i like it when they are good on the inside :> and try to turn things around and save ppl they love but they meet a tragic end anyways :')#except odysseus i think he should get to live happily ever after on ithaca i'm honestly kind of glad we lost the telegony #men who are thiiiiis close to commiting s*icide from the extreme pressure society places upon them #but instead they chicken out and instead stab their wife or child. cleaning and sorting my bookshelf took longer than I expected BUT

now they're sorted by already read (vertical) and unread (horizontal)

#safe to say i have lots of reading ahead of me this year #i wanna get through at least 25% of my unread pile!!!#...and maybe collect the rest of the death note manga so the first volume i got at a fleamarket isn't so lonely anymore #also gotta evaluate all the unread books and see if i wanna keep them all or pass on the ones that don't spark joy #things i've done today ✨

Writing a genre I have literally never written before and have barely even read is probably not the best idea, but I’m going to do it apparently

#it’s a western. specifically i have got a gay cowboy who’s in love with a werewolf and i think there’s also going to be at least one vampire #picking off the townspeople one by one #i’m thinking of setting this in california during the gold rush so to be honest the townspeople in question are probably mostly going to be #random opportunistic men #see it’s not like i have NO knowledge of westerns as a genre. i’ve read shane and i also saw the movie. i’ve seen my darling clementine #i’ve seen and read brokeback mountain. i’ve read 2 cormac mccarthy novels. i’ve read jack london as well #i did actually take a class on literature of the frontier during undergrad but honestly most of the novels were so bad i didn’t finish them #the ones listed above are simply the ones i finished #i did also read the cowboy bible but that one was so bad i sincerely hope i don’t accidentally base anything off it #so uhh. yeah. that’s where we’re at #i nearly forgot that i also read the first dark tower book but honestly i didn’t like it at all so i erased it from my brain #i mean maybe it’s a good thing that i don’t know much about the genre going in. maybe that will allow for originality #or maybe (probably; definitely) this’ll just turn into a big mess #half-urban (or rural?) fantasy; half some random depressed bisexual’s idea of what a western might be #based on about three movies; five books and a misplaced desire to put michael in a cowboy hat and boots #(i’ve gotta put michael in a cowboy hat and boots. for science)#personal
