However, I think he'd get a little angry and possessive. That's his little dove, for him to play with. He would relish denying reader their pleasure, tying their hands behind their back or above their head so they couldn't do it themselves.

Option 1: Al would leave them for hours in the basement to writhe around in frustration, just KNOWING the torment reader is going through would arouse him.

and then they go forward in life, believing that they're just naturally more intelligent and more capable than connor and roman, as if being raised seeing what happens to you if you aren't a perfect child wasn't the entire point of the "punish the weak dog" mentality that logan instilled in them. the looming threat implied behind any praise they do receive that tacitly tells them "you're not like roman and connor" because everyone knows what happens to roman and connor.

the absolute height of the rich capitalist mindset. "we're succeeding because of our own merit, and other people fail because they don't have what it takes" when in reality they're succeeding because of arbitrary rules made up by someone who knows that infighting makes meaner dogs.

idk if i've ever mentioned it here but i have an extremely specific fic idea where fem!Homelander relentlessly bullies Vought's in house barista (f!reader) every time she comes to order her whole milk latte, which she only started drinking when this barista was hired. teases her, makes fun of her job. it's all flirting but it's so hard to tell with her. one day, when Homelander is being particularly distracting, the barista messes up the order (she makes her nervous okay!!) and Homelander doesn't even need to take a sip to know it's wrong.

so naturally she holds the drink out and says, "Give this a taste for me."

poor barista is so confused, doesn't move to take it, stammers that, "I'll remake it, I'm sorry." doesn't even remember what she put in it, it was such a blur.

Homelander clicks her tongue, looking amused, and then in a flash she's snatching reader by the hair and bringing the drink to her lips. "I didn't tell you to remake it. I told you to taste it."

looks way too pleased with herself as reader takes a trembling sip of the drink. they know as soon as they taste it what they did wrong.

"Vanilla," they choke out. "I'm sorry, I added vanilla."

Homelander smiles all wolfishly. "Yeah. That's alright." She lets go of the barista. "Won't happen again, will it, sweetheart?" Gives a little wink for good measure.

"No, it won't. I promise."

"Atta girl," she says, and wipes the milk foam from the barista's lips with her thumb. Licks it off her gloved digit. "See you tomorrow."

she leaves without a new drink.

Oh lord, I think you described the situation perfectly. I think this type of controlling behaviour is so interesting and absolutely beleivable for some Grabber characterisations out there. 

But absolutely. Imagine you've been in the basement a while, hurt, violated, terrified. You wake up in such a position, you absolutely think you're about to die in that moment. Then suddenly Al is feeding you. Firm with you, hut not trying to hurt you. It's on his terms, but gentle if you behave. If he feels you've earned it, the chains would come off, but the message remains. Al is taking care of you, in every way possible. It would lead to him bathing you- again, he's doing the washing. He's dressing you afterwards, like you're his doll. And of course, sex. And you go along with it, crazy as it is, because as Al says-'isn't this so much better than being a naughty girl?'. Of course you don't want the belt again, and you absolutely want to live. You'd eventually think Al was someone giving you life, taking care of you. How could you ever do it all yourself? And this controlling behaviour would become so normalized so easily it's scary!

Al's need for control might be deep-rooted because of a lack of it when he was younger. Hence, ya know, the killing and stuff. Feeling powerful. I think, with the situation above, he could feel that in a whole new way. Having someone completely rely on him, for basics like eating and drinking, needing him for the most simple of tasks would make Al feel powerful, and make him feel wanted, maybe for the first time in his life (that's kinda sad as well as horrific imo).

Hope that was OK! It turned into more of a (very) amateur psychoanalysis than anything really smutty 😅😭

Homelander has shown interest in supes and humans alike, but he definitely has a preference for supes. in his mind, even the weakest supe would still have an advantage over a human.

he does this funny thing when he experiences attraction where he pedestals people. his attraction, however it comes about, inherently elevates them, so things that would normally bother him suddenly are given a pass.

would he still be shitty about it if he thought it would affect his image? .... yeah. he'd probably lowkey insist on keeping their powers under wraps from the public. but honestly, once Homelander is invested, there are very few things that seem to dissuade him.
