Today was one of the best days since launching TRAKTIVIST! Pictured here is Dr. Deborah Wong, widely regarded as one of the leading ethnomusicologists that specializes in the music of Asian America The book you see me holding is "Speak It Louder: Asian Americans Making Music," which focuses on Asian American music + performance and the way it intersects with the racial imagination in America. Dr. Wong's book was INSTRUMENTAL in the development of TRAKTIVIST and our entire approach to music x Asian America! Not only was I able to finally meet someone I deeply admired, but to my biggest surprise, I found out our work at TRAKTIVIST is specifically being studied by her students in her College course for "Musics of Asian American" at UC Riverside! This is so humbling and exciting because we built TRAKTIVIST not just for purposes of entertainment, but also as a resource for academics and students. Today was an unforgettable day and I am so thankful to have met and become connected to Dr. Deborah Wong. . .
