Favorite Asian Horror Movies List pt. 2
Audition (1999)
Tumblr media
Seven years after the death of his wife, company executive Aoyama is invited to sit in on auditions for an actress. Leafing through the resumes in advance, his eye is caught by Yamazaki Asami, a striking young woman with ballet training.
Here’s one that probably every Asian Horror movie lover has seen/heard of. It usually makes the top of people’s favorites list, and for good reason. It took me almost 10 years to actually finish this film due to the ending. I knew how it ended and the thought of it made me so uncomfortable that I just couldn’t finish it (spoiler alert: needles). The movie starts out as sort of a romantic journey with Aoyama, but the last 30-45 minutes or so takes a HARD left turn.
My Rating: 4 ½ out of 5

Actually speaking of which, i need help finding an Asian horror movie.
I'll give off the mayor plot points/things that stuck with me the most:
It was about a family of 3 (mom, daughter and step dad) moving to a new house
The daughter was a twin
The other twin got aborted and was now possessing the girl occasionally bc she was really pissed off
The kid was said to be a girl but the actor clearly had a cock which i still am confused about (trans ghost kid rights ig)
The movie is not dark and grimey it is actually very... Regular colored, for what i remember.
(rape m) The reason the protagonist was pregnant to begin with was because she used to work at a karaoke and some bad guys raped her. This is why she tried to abort the fetus.
Super minor but I think she aborted using a weird... Mix of spicy things. It's a pretty graphic scene iirc.
There's a mirror scene where the girl is trying to do her makeup and the twin is inside the mirror. This traumatized me a little 💀
The step dad is showering in one scene and the girl while possessed traps him inside as the water gets hotter and hotter.
He lives but ends up hospitalized in a bed covered in bandages where iirc the girl tries to kill him again.
The movie ends w the dead twin confronting her mother and then her trying to go back to the house only to find out it's not hers and her family is gone (very cryptic)
I tried asking TOMT but no one could quite figure out what i was talking about so I'm giving it a try here.
I could possibly find the og post to tell y'all which movies i know it isn't if anyone cares about that!

okay besties i am looking for a very specific asian horror movie from i think the late 2000s, based on what i remember:
a family (mom, dad, and young son) move back to the dad’s childhood home. i feel like it was an island, like hong kong. anyway it’s mainly abt the mom and son, who are haunted by a woman in a white dress with long black hair (no it is NOT THE RING! but similar look tho). she is mainly interested in the son.
but what i REALLY remember is the ghost’s story. she was a young worker in her aunt’s sewing factory who discovered something rlly bad going on (i don’t remember but probably prostitution). and her aunt ended up killing her by stabbing her in the eye with scissors. that’s all i remember except for a shot involving a mirror that i can’t quite pull to the front of my brain so i can describe it. but the ghost had an eye that was gouged out bc of the scissors i think. this may have been during wwii.

31 Nights of Halloween Horror: day 13
My pick for yesterday was the Japanese movie: Cello
Tumblr media
I rated this 5/10. For a movie that's been on my watchlist since it came out (2005), this was disappointing. Average early 2000's Asian horror film, but nothing to really make it stand out. There weren't many scary scenes either, and about halfway through I almost decided to just give up and watch a different movie, but I went ahead and finished it lol. Average movie, but nothing too special.

i think at this point everyone can agree that asian horror will always have a superior hold on paranormal horror. demons, ghosts, and etc are just way scarier coming from any asian country. good for them

Favorite Asian Horror Movies List pt. 1
I’ve decided to start this blog with a list of my favorite Asian Horror movies. I will eventually give these a proper review, but until then I’ll just give a short paragraph on why I enjoyed these movies.
These will be in no particular order…
Gonjiam: Haunted Asylum (2018)
Tumblr media
The crew of a horror web series travels to an abandoned asylum for a live broadcast, but they encounter much more than expected as they move deeper inside the nightmarish old building.
I remember hearing about this movie on YouTube and buying it on a whim. I had never seen it before, but it sounded interesting so I was willing to pay for it and add it to my collection. That was a great decision on my part because I loved this movie. There were some scenes that legit creeped me out (looking at you Black-Eyed Girl) and I found myself entertained the whole time. The start is a little slow as you get to know the characters and their personalities, but once they enter the asylum and things start going wrong, it definitely amps up the terror. Gonjiam is a movie that I love showing to my friends and highly recommend if you enjoy found-footage based movies.
My Rating: 4 out of 5
