A little while ago I posted my first HoMM fic. It began when I and my bf were playing HoMM7 together, and then I finished the Necropolis campaign and absolutely loved it (it wrecked me). It's a story between a Necromancer and a Wizard during the War of the Broken Staff.
It's in Polish because I kinda want to support my home fandom, but if there's anyone who would like to read it in English, I could translate it, just let me know. There are chances I will continue this story in one form or another.

“Right… About that… You’re gonna need to, well, take off your robe again.”
“That makes sense.”
“And this time I’ll… need to…” Lacuna trails off into a mumble.
“Come again?”
“I’ll need to be making skin contact for the duration of the ritual.”
“Ah.” Ashan swallows. “I see.”

Here is a character I made then just left as soon as I got to the first autosave. She's going to be played, I just had her idea and went for it.
Ashan, a deep gnome Warlock who has a pact with an old one. Ashan's family were merchants and she was a skilled Artistan who made beautiful sculptures. Another merchant group were friendly with them and there was a sort of peace between them. Ashan was even going to marry one of them.
Then the other band hired bandits to kill her family, and Ashan lost everything. She ran from the attack, and ended up falling into a temple where they worshiped an old one. She prayed to the being, asking for help.
She got it. And so, Ashan was born, abandoning her former name Amethyst to focus on the idea that she arisen from the ashes of her former life.
Ashan got revenge on her betrayers and swore to never do any sort of art ever again. No dancing, no painting, no sculpture.
There is no one to enjoy it.
