hi! this is Insomniac Anon here!!! I noticed on some of ur artworks (specifically the unique magic posters), that u have a textured look to em, like paper or grain ... i wanted to ask how u get that effect? is it a brush, a filter, or like an overlay/png u use ... ? pls tell me!! ;v; I really like how the texture looks, so i wanted to know how 2 do it since ure a very big inspo 2 me LAWL ... I've been doing art practices in diff styles i find, so, i wanted to know a bit more how you do it :^D

thank you! :D :D :D it's usually photos/textures of paper that I've messed around with; I have a bunch of free/paid/ones I took myself. anytime I see good photos of paper I add it to the collection...it is my weakness. 😔

I mostly use Photoshop, but this should work in any program that supports blending modes (also I did this in like an hour to use as an example, please forgive it :')

then mess around with the blending mode to see how it looks -- in this case I went with overlay, but soft light and hard light are usually good ones too, it really depends on the texture:

then with a bunch of messing around with opacity/colors/saturation/levels/adding in a bit more texture until I like how it looks:

#art #twisted wonderland #it's a general tutorial i guess but just cause it's grim #usually i end up using a couple different papers on top of each other with bits masked out/levels super messed with and the like #it is super fun to just mess around with and throw things on and see how they look!#but it is also very easy to waaaay overdo so uhhhh exercise caution i guess. less is often more and all #once you start layering textures on there it's just difficult to stop #dangit art stop being so fun #(this also tends to screw with your colors and values a lot so always check and adjust as you go!)#(if you don't want any color influence at all you can just turn the saturation of the paper layer all the way down so it's pure grayscale)

I’ve never been so obsessed with a character so bad that I literally can’t do anything else I’m like the squidward meme watching SpongeBob frolic outside the window stretching a hand out to all the pretty paintings and animations and comics I see in my head but being unable to feel any motivation for it . If only i could use the energy spent to create 20 kon doodles to sit down and concentrate on a single finished full piece I used to be able to make like 5 page comics what happened to me

HEre is an incredibly niche pet peeve I’ve discovered that I have and im going to rant about it

so i’ve recently gotten into vintage knitting thanks in large part to retro claude on youtube, she makes great content on vintage clothes and how she manages all that with her disability, its very helpful and nice and i have learned a lot! one of the things being that in a lot of vintage patterns for knitting, (1930′s and 40′s specifically) the yarn used is a 3 ply yarn. Now in modern day, the vast majority of our yarn is 4 ply. 4 ply is heavier and thicker, so if you’re working from a pattern your gauge will be off and it wont fit right unless you do a whole lot of math.

However! although it is not usually 3 plies (strands of fiber that get twisted together, so 3 ply is 3 strands and 4 ply is 4, so on and so on) yarn for babies is usually very similar! It’s a lot less heavy than worsted weight 4 ply yarn, and some baby yarns are even 3 ply! they are also quite cheap and easy to find, as most 3 ply yarns are not very easily accessible.

not only is this infuriating for me as a knitter who wants my beautiful jewel tones and rich earth tones and dark greens and bright fun colors, its also not great for babies cause guess what???

so many baby stuff is brightly colored *on purpose* so they can learn what color is. Toddlers who live in a minimalist beige/pastel house color in browns and greys cause THATS WHAT IT LOOKS LIKE!!! so in conclusion, please make more baby yarn that is not pastel because pastels are nice on occasion but not all of the time and I want more soft light cheap easily machine washable yarn in colors I will actually wear

this might sound mean but honestly if you have to front Every Fucking Thing you make with "oh ANOTHER fic of a common trope in this fandom" or "this is an "original" character playlist" or "this is bad please be nice" then like. i immediately loose all interest bc if YOU hate your own creation why would i like it? you have GOT to stop lampshading your own creativity. this isn't a marvel movie not only Can you be vulnerable but you Have To. you Have To

It's such a shame that the visual design choices for the new Little Mermaid really do Halle's performances dirty. Her voice is beautiful and she deserved a bright, saturated aesthetic to complement it. Instead it's so muddy that the YouTube video of Part of Your World looks like unfinished test footage. :(

put my glasses on because the weed guy was here, looked at my phone, had to fix sooo many errors in language on that tangent.
