I love my da2 companions. I love how every single one of them is a refugee of some sort, apart from Varric (but he will be by the end). I love how they're all stuck in Kirkwall because they needed to escape, or because they got lost, or because they just can't leave. I love how this is mirrored in the bad guys, how the Arishok wants to leave but can't, how Samson has been kicked out of the circle, how Cullen is running from Ferelden. I love how all the companions are seeking freedom but they've also lost so much. I love the overarching themes this creates. I love da2. I love the da2 companions. You can make this shitty city your home, but you can never go back to where/who you were before.

The Arishok fight is unironically one of my favourite moments in DA2 as a Mage Hawke because I can full on imagine Varric sat there with Cassandra as she is interrogating him when the subject of the battle comes up. Varric starts sweating pinballs and has Vietnam flashbacks to Hawke screaming bloody murder and running in circles as this hulking Qunari comes barreling towards her at full speed. The whole crowd and their party just stood there watching as she is yelling wildly and shimmying left and right against a pillar trying to get past the Arishok.
But he makes it out to be this legendary 'romantic' duel anyway because he as much as he loves Hawke that fight was dogshit and a taint on their image.

I'm sure I've mentioned this before, but there is something about "Inquisition" that I believe needs a major A03 overhaul. The moment Cousland learns about what is happening, she's not going to shrug it off to continue research into a "Cure" for the Calling, or do nothing simply because she has limited knowledge of darkspawn. She is the sort that will drop everything and help the Inquisition in all the ways that she can, despite the ways she cannot. And if the Ben-Hassrath offer an alliance, why not the Antaam??
So, when I finish the "Origins" based story, I will write about Aithne and "Stenishok" going to Skyhold to meet with Meshaak and pledge themselves to the cause in-person! Would this be payment of the "debt" Sten had said was owed to Cousland? Hmmm... no because I personally don't believe Stenishok would consider that a payment of debt, but a duty of the Antaam to see that the world is not destroyed.
I just got to finish the whole game because I think the experience of playing it would be more inspiring than just what I get from DAWiki.
It's been a long time... I'm nearing the end. Maybe I'll finish before Christmas lol! It's taking longer than I thought it would.
