Hello! Currently working on answering your ask :) For the wonderful Nim :)
Morning Star - What was the first thing you gave your OC? Name, backstory, design, etc
Sun's Height - What is your OC's favourite shop, in any of the games; what do they buy the most of?
Evening Star - When is your OC's birthday?
From this set of OC asks.
Morning Star - What was the first thing you gave your OC? Name, backstory, design, etc
Nim wasn't my first HoK, probably my third or fourth (my first HoK was named after my dog, very original I know but I was 9). Her physical design has more or less looked like this— scrappy and disheveled, from humble origins. She had a different name, demeanor, and slightly different backstory when I first played he. It was changed and settled on only once I started writing her story, but she's always been an illusionist and a thief with a penchant for alchemy. Core traits I guess lol.
Sun's Height - What is your OC's favourite shop, in any of the games; what do they buy the most of?
Tavern - The Bloated Float on the Waterfront. Many Ten-Drake Tirdas' spent there with Amusei and Methredhel during her early days with the Thieves Guild. Idk if this counts as a shop, but when she first joined the Bravil Mages Guild, she spent a lot of time at Ardaline's alchemical desk (seriously, I camped out there for weeks in-game, gathering ingredients, levelling up alchemy and selling potions for big $$$). Those ramshackle swampy towns like Bravil and the Waterfront are very cozy. She feels right at home there.
Evening Star - When is your OC's birthday?
Second Seed. I chose it because I wanted emerald to be her birthstone as I think green suits her very well. I never determined an actual date, and realistically Nim wouldn't know it either since she was orphaned as a baby. She just chooses a different day every year to celebrate it when the weather is nice.
Thank you for the questions <3 I'm looking forward to reading your answers too :))

OCs - Who the hell is: Kellandra Rhiannon Lorinda Rue
Tumblr media
(A "short" Original Character primer)
➼ Universe:
TES IV: Oblivion (vanilla)
➼ What does she look like?
Rin, like many redguards, is tall, well-built, and has dark skin. She uses a combination of lye and citrus juice to bleach her hair, for backstory reasons.
She's most comfortable in her armour and tends to stick to the Knights of the Nine full-plate mail. However, when she's performing alchemy, she prefers to dress in whatever light robe or clothing is available. Usually, this is her Apprentice Robes (another stain or two won't make a difference), but she's also been known to wear the Light Blue Regalia too, as this is what she considers to be "civilian" clothing.
➼ What's she like?
Rin is very forthright, law-abiding and stern. However, she also has a penchant for not understanding sarcasm, being awkward in social situations, and taking instructions very literally.
Despite being very intelligent, she's not very worldly-wise (unsurprising due to her cloistered upbringing) so she's missing a lot of "common" knowledge. This cloistered upbringing and an abusive father also means she has some self-esteem issues, and often feels she's in the way or taking up time and resources that she shouldn't be.
➼ Who are the main important people in her life?
Marz – As the Healer in the Chapel of Mara, Marz is the one who taught Rin the basics of alchemy, against her father's wishes. Marz was also one of the few positive influences in Rin's early life, and Rin looked to her as a mother figure. Rin was devastated by her death at the hands of Umaril's Aurorans, far more so than when Rin learned of her father's death.
Methredhel – Rin and the thief became fast friends after going out for some "no hard feelings" drinks after their competition to get into the Thieves guild, and have remained close – and maybe a little more – ever since.
Baurus – As a fellow redguard whom she's "allowed" to become close with, Rin looks up to Baurus a lot and often takes his word on redguard culture as gospel.
➼ Can you give us a highlight reel of her life?
A foundling of Bravil, Rin was adopted as a toddler by Soliril 'Rue, a priest of Mara.
As soon as she could hold a broom, Rin's life was duty, subservience, and toil.
In her pre-teens, Soliril enrolled Rin in Castle Bravil's Junior Guards*, so learning weaponry and warfare were added to the already strenuous list of activities expected of her. It was here she saw the power of Alchemy in Marz's hands.
Rin didn't get the courage to speak to Marz about it for another few years. They spoke while at Chapel, and Rin was amazed at the power a few leaves and petals could have. Marz then began techning Rin in stolen moments.
Eventually, Marz thought Rin was good enough to enter the Mages guild. She spoke to Ardaline, the Bravil Chapter Alchemist on Rin's behalf. Ardaline, not knowing this was a secret, spoke to Soliril, who became furious that his "stupid" daughter was trying to learn magic. He flew into a rage and beat Rin. She fled the city and was caught on The Green Road trying to steal food from an Imperial Guard. He took pity on her distress at being taken back to Bravil, so she was dumped in an empty cell in the Imperial Prison.
After meeting Martin, she was plagued with nightmares of his death. That, and her sudden freedom, was what turned her from further helping in the Main Quest for a while. Instead, she finally joined the Mages guild. While in Anvil, she heard the prophet, and back in Bravil she looked through the mysterious door – but didn't stay long**. Likewise, she became ashamed of herself for being drawn by the allure of the Grey Fox and never got higher than Prowler. After taking the pilgrimage again, Rin turned her attention to the ever-growing threat of the Oblivion gates, eventually returning to Martin and joining the Blades in their fight.
* I don't have a better name for what this might be, so hush for now...
** I'm retconning a lot of stuff mentioned in Not Alone to better suit how the character has developed. At some point, I'll rewrite that story.
➼ What points in her life are you writing about?
From the start of the game forward. I haven't really felt inclined to write much about her backstory.
➼ Who is she in real-world development terms?
Rin is an offshoot of my main playthrough (Rowan/ This-Page-Left-Blank-HoK being the other). Over the past few years, Rin and Rowan have diverged considerably, and I now consider them to be very separate characters, each taking a different path through the quest lines.
As the two characters diverged, I realised Rin needed a real name. My character name in-game is Dru I (I somehow forgot this wasn't a hardcore game and I wouldn't need to re-roll a dozen characters and name them Dru II-XII), so I decided to reuse a name which has blessed many of my characters. Unlike the others, this K'Rin L'Rue prefers being known as Rin or Rhiannon. I don't yet have a good lore explanation for her long-ass name, though it could be related to the Aldmeri tradition of lengthy full names (even though her name is only passingly lore-friendly in that regard – if you tilt your head a squint a bit).
Re: Rin's unusual hair – I have a habit of setting my character's hair to be the lightest possible so I can find them in games, forgetting entirely that Oblivion is a First Person rather than a Top Down game, so I wanted to find a lore-friendly reasoning for why it's that colour... and ended up with racist father...

🌲 for ardaline!
Ardaline is incredibly empathetic, but has a lot of trouble conveying this empathy to people due to social anxiety. I think she’d be a first choice if you ever just needed someone to listen.
She has a lot of depth of feeling, and I think that’s probably why the situation with Varon Vamori upsets her so much. Like, this guy won’t leave her alone and she can’t focus on anything else but her anxiety over it.
When trying to comfort Viera, she’ll make up an excuse to take up some of her time (“I need someone to protect me out in the wilderness while I collect ingredients, and nobody else will do it”). Depending on the situation, she’ll either let Viera vent to her, or try to distract her from the situation with lighthearted banter and fun plant facts.

Russian-speaking sites steal my Skyrim plugins.❗❗❗ Without specifying my authorship, without reference to the source, without my permission. It's just a fact of the brazen behavior of people for whom there is no such thing as copyright.
A link to my profile on Nexus, where you can download it.
I'm not going to keep quiet about such things. For those who do not understand, creating a plugin is a hard work that requires skills, imagination and inspiration. But some people just parasitize the works of creative people, being unable to create something of their own. This is the life of a parasite.

Logos I made in Microsoft Word for Ardalin: Tales from Darkgrave, a D&D campaign that I livestream every week or so. When the campaign started, I found that making these to be a good way to get some design practice in after a summer of unproductivity.

Thots on Ardaline of the Bravil mages guild?
a sweetie. deserves the world. deserves better than that bastard vamori. i hope he left her alone. and that she keeps her staff under lock and key
i also really like the implied mother-daughter thing with kud-ei, i think that’s adorable. i love kud-ei,,
spur-of-the-moment headcanon is that she opens an alchemy shop in bravil at some point. and helps s’drassa with that potion to cure skooma addiction because i feel like bravil needs that sort of thing

WIP Game
Rules: Post  the names of all the files in your WIP folder, regardless of how non-descriptive or ridiculous. Let people send you an ask with the title that most intrigues them and then post a little snippet of it or tell them something about it! and then tag as many people as you have WIPs.
Thank you to both @jjgremlinson & @memaidraws for tagging me you da best ; w;/💕 Okay so, I don’t have a WIP folder. I am just a eggplant that keeps all of its WIPs out there in the ether up for grabs. There’s no order. Just chaos and horrible doc names that will definitely 100% not come back to bite me later. Here are some that I am rotating between right now 👀👀👀
TES V: Skyrim -epic dagonball z: dadliest catch 2
-that one Serana fic + an unnecessary amount of triangulation
-that one solstheim fic but haha jk unless...? 👀👀👀 ? TES but not Skyrim -that one fic about Istlod that isn’t set in Skyrim weirdly enough (v chonky) TES IV: Oblivion
-a fail battlemage and fail thief save the world(?) also they’re lesbians?
-that one Ardaline fic
-that Sheogorath fic that i have been sitting on
Dragon Age: Inquisition
-that adaar fic that i call it the adaar fic but it’s not really about adaar

I woke to find myself naked... again. What the hell? Why am I naked again? Did Kud-Ei undress me while I was asleep? What the hell, Kud-Ei??
Tumblr media
I dove behind the screen and cried to be left alone while I scrambled to get my clothes back on. Amid my screaming and whining, I was vaguely aware of Henantier and Kud-Ei expressing their gratitude. I told them they could thank me by letting me get dressed in peace!
Henantier left me some scrolls. Some of them quite valuable, so I graciously accepted them. They’d fetch a pretty septim if I could find a buyer. Too bad none of them were a “Scroll of Restore Dignity”. I could really use that after waking up naked in front of two strangers. I swear, gentle reader, that I’m usually better at keeping my clothes on, I promise!
It was late, but the shops were still open, so I raced about to hock my homemade Restore Fatigue potions before the shops closed. It’s a bit curious, to me, as to why so many merchants are willing to buy home-brewed potions from some no-name lizard. I can’t for the life of me imagine why there’s so much demand for Restore Fatigue pots. Maybe, since they don’t have slaves in Cyrodiil, they actually do all of the work themselves around here and get really tired really easily. Whatever the case, it was late by the time I was done, so I retired to the Fighters Guild and called it a night.
Tumblr media
The next morning, and I made the rounds, selling a few more of those pots. When that was done, I decided I wanted to pay a visit to Bravil Castle and play Tourist just for a bit, before returning to Skingrad.
Tumblr media
In the courtyard, I found a few more sprigs of Nirnroot, and realized that, in total, I’d had the ten sprigs Sinderion asked me for. That, along with the Training Recommendation I’d received from Ardaline at the Bravil Mages Guild, I had plenty of incentive to return to Skingrad and speak to the nutty alchemist. Perhaps with Sinderion’s help, I could make myself a potion that could make me tough enough to go toe-to-toe with Baron von Zarov, and finally put that case to rest.
Tumblr media
Also in the courtyard, I fond this fellow. I think I found the target consumer for my Restore Fatigue pots, because this guy looks dead on his feet. Or drunk. Or possibly both.
Tumblr media
Into the castle’s main hall, I went. This has got to be the most rich, ornate, and clean place in all of Bravil. Jeez, this is opulence on a level that is just embarrassing. People are living in squalor out there, but the Count is living in finely marbled halls with lush carpeting. And probably a big, comfy bed with a plus teddy-bear waiting for him in his bedchambers.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I didn’t even want to speak to such a jerk. Instead, I looked around a bit, and found another one of those useful book. This one titled “Chronicles of Bravil.” An almanac of important information about the city, the most useful of which was about the local Skill Trainers. I’ll have to return to Bravil later when I’m a little more rich. I could definitely use the help of that Luciana Galena woman. Moving in Light Armor would help me duck attacks.
Tumblr media
My business in Bravil finally concluded, I disembarked once more. It was late, close to noon, but I was still going to head out, and try to make back to Skingrad before dark. Wish me luck!

“well shit i guess i’m adopting this random kid i found”
(for @ardaline !! i hope i got barta characterized correctly ^-^”)
Areleth was on vacation and nothing was going to stop her. Nothing. She’d endured the whole Dagoth Ur business and, despite her misgivings, became Nerevar incarnate; she’d been hunted by a Daedric Prince for sport; she’d nearly been killed by a mad goddess; she’d been hunted down like a dog by the Brotherhood; she’d been put in charge of the Morag Tong --
So, yes, she thought as she wove her way in and out of the crowds of the Imperial City, she deserved a thrice-damned vacation.
The City itself was a much-needed change of pace from the ashen wastes she’d grown used to on Vvardenfell. Hewn from what looked to be marble, the entire City had a noble air about it, and a distinct sense of Man as opposed to Mer. Even so, she figured as a thief carrying a loaf of bread raced past her, it had its fair share of problems.
It was lovely. And a perfect place to lay low.
She was busy thinking of ways to wax poetic about the City; so busy that she didn’t notice the young Bosmer, dressed in attire that looked more suited to the Festival of Sheogorath than a day in the City.
“Excuse me, Miss,” his voice was young - late teens, Areleth figured, “Are you by chance the author Areleth Soft-Step...?”
Areleth paused for a moment. That had taken her off-guard; these days, she was more widely known for her deeds rather than her books. Still, it was... well, it was nice. “I am.”
She struggled to give the Bosmer a smile. It wasn’t in her nature (or decades of training, for that matter) to show emotions, but the kid just seemed sort of --
Sort of familiar.
The Bosmer returned her half-smile/half-grimace with a hesitant smile of his own. “I learned to read with your books.”
“You - did?” B’Vehk, the kid surprised her again. “That’s... unexpected. Not bad! Though, I hope you didn’t start with...”
“The murder-y ones?” The Bosmer laughed. It was a bright sound.
Areleth hazarded another smile. “Yeah, the murder-y ones.” She paused. “What’s your name?”
“Oh! I’m Bartalomewl!” He gave a shallow, theatrical bow.
“My friends call me Aphia.” Why in the name of fucking Azura did I say that.
“Aphia. I like that. Aaaaa-phia.”
“Say, Bartalomewl,” Areleth took another look at the kid. He was short, his face covered in paint that added to the appearance of a court jester, and his eyes --
His eyes held the Void, she thought. He looked like how her former Dark Brothers and Sisters looked. “I’m new in the City, I don’t really know my way around. Think you could show me?”
“Oh! Certainly!” Bartalomewl took her hand. “Follow me!”
