Umm hi 👉👈 I realized that most of the asks you guys get are about games and rec lists. You guys deserve so much recognition for the work you put in this blog, so I wanted to ask if I can do a little get-to-know-the-mods thing? If that's okay!
1. Besides writing, what are your hobbies?
2. Do you have a niche interest right now?
3. Any fave songs/artists/bands?
4. Any fave movies/tv shows?
5. On a scale of 1-10, how likely would you survive in your wip's world?
You can totally ignore this if you guys want, no pressure. Anyway, much love to all the interact-if mods! You guys are incredible! ❤
We saw this ask and we went 👀 👀 👀 so we’re happy to answer! Thank you so much for the fun ask!
We also rated our survivability in all of our collective games, since Mars isn't an author! Fun stuff! Spoilers, though: it’s really not looking so great for me (Dani) but that’s fine!!!  😌
Tumblr media
1. I’m a photographer as well as a graphic artist (but not like. A painter/drawer kind of artist!) and, on a general level, a maker and a tinkerer!
2. Fountain pens! I only write with ink, and only with fountain pens, and I use bottled inks/converters!
3. I’m pretty eclectic with music, but my top genres are alt rock, indie, indie pop, etc, as well as top 40s and some rap.
4. I feel like this is the hardest one for me to answer? Favorite movies/shows? Avatar: the Last Airbender has been a favorite show of mine since I was a little kid, but I have a harder time thinking of shows I would call a favorite in recent years. There are shows I’ve liked, and a lot of shows I’ve watched. But I’m picky! And demanding! It takes a lot to earn a place in Dani’s Trophy Case of Favorites. 😌 I would say I quite liked A Quite Place (movie), and I liked Us (movie). When it comes to TV shows, I have a hard time being pleased with them if they don’t end well. As a result, I have a penchant for a good limited series/miniseries (because they’re stories that have an end in mind and the plot reflects that, dagnabbit).
5. Heh. Okay.
In The Goodfellows? I think I stand I chance. I can exercise my sparkling wit and lovable personality to the best effect. I’m gonna give myself an 8/10 survivability rating. Even if I don’t have the right skills, I can go crying to the person who does and they’ll save me. Maybe.
In Creatures’ Cradle? I’m super $**!%d. 😌 1/10 survivability rating. And that 1 is me being nice to myself. The day the apocalypse breaks out I would probably be patient 0. I am self-aware. I would not do well in an apocalypse. Zombies care not for aforementioned sparkling wit and lovable personality, and I have all the muscle of a boiled spaghetti noodle. So it’s a no go.
Greater Than Gods (Cruz): Well. I’m going to be optimistic. And say that I have the wisdom not to do things I shouldn’t do and not to rock boats I shouldn’t rock. I’m going to give myself a 7/10 based on insider information, but also based on reckless optimism!
Vardir (Cruz): Cruz says this is a lighthearted game, so 10/10 LOL.
When it Hungers (Roast): I’m giving myself a nice, mediocre 5/10. I think I could put my mind to work here; I joke that I’m the village idiot, but I’m actually pretty smart! Unfortunately, I’m also curious, and maybe a little bad with authorities who won’t answer my questions. So I knocked off a lot of points due to the fact that I’d probably poke the metaphorical bear. So it’s a real coin flip as to whether I’d really make it or not.
Orthall Bay (Nines): Considering the genre is “horror” and the game intro includes the words “monster” and “maim,” I’m giving myself a whooping, enthusiastic 3/10. Yes, folks, I am that confident in myself! Once again, I can’t charm the socks off a monster (or can I?), so one of my greatest weapons is snatched from beneath my feet. Alas!
Tumblr media
1. Beloved I’m a college student in the middle of a pandemic... i can hardly even write LOL i do draw at times which u can see in my personal blog (nothing too good really) and i used to do karate before things went to shit <3
2. Nothing niche I believe? All I do is leave Netflix as bg noise every day n play popular videgames (genshin)
3. Porter Robinson <3 I love Bea Miller a lot as well but lately I’ve been feeling Porter a lot
4. The Good Place <3
5. My WIPs:
Greater than Gods: Highly situational, the world GtG is set in is as broad as the real world LOL so I don’t have an universal answer. But keeping it vague, and knowing my own personality, I feel like 5/10. depends on my luck.
Vardir: 10/10 no one dies in Vikgade, unless you’re a hunter but I wouldn’t be a hunter <3
Others’ WIPs
I'm gonna give myself a solid 5/10 in all other WIPs because y'all aren't writing lighthearted stories either. I feel like as long as I avoid the role of the MC I will be mostly fine. I hope. But as Dani said I'm also prone to fight the wrong person and dig my own grave so 😌
Tumblr media
1. Well, writing is a very, very, very, distant hobby since Words Hard, but I like to crochet and sculpt a little! Anything to do with fiddling with my hands and I’m good to go. And like, debatable but graphic design is my passion [insert clown emoji here since Tumblr said No]
2. Oh yeah a bunch! DnD yelling at people, thinking of arson, crocheting, rock climbing and simply vibing. I got into podcasts a few years ago and I’m always looking for more recs, so if you have some, hmu 😤
3. Pls,,,,my music taste is,,,so weird do not let me expose myself with lack of consistency but uhh. Current songs that are stuck in my head include; Cult of Dionysus , Achilles Come Down and The Last Shanty
4. If you’ve ever spoken to me before, I probably yelled about Pacific Rim to you or at you. Plus I love all The Mummy films and really enjoyed Castlevania (s3 excluded, we do not perceive that) as well!
5. Ah, mod survival simulator pt. 3
Alright, let’s go!  I don’t have a WIP because again, words hard, but like, considering how feral I am when not tryna seem professional hm...
The Goodfellows: I wanna say a solid 7/10 because I’d hardcore vibe with the Traveler and probably instigate so much nonsense. I can also bribe with blueberry cake so maybe.
Creature’s Cradle: maybe a 4/10 and only because of pure spite keeping me alive long enough to smack someone. I’ve prepared for hypothetical  zombie apolcapyses and I won’t hesitate to bap, but will be bapped back because I’m weak as hell.
Greater Than Gods: a toss up between 2/10 and 7/10! I can vibe and be chill but I also have terrible impulse control so...
Vardir: hm....I think pretty good survival rates all around? If you ask me to fight then like, okay sure, your knees are mine. So maybe a 8/10?
When it Hungers: .......8/10 just because I’d refuse to die if I can be a cool creature. Living for the aesthetic can and will drag me outta hell. But I’m also clumsy as hell so I’d probably crash as a porcelain or hold a rooster and perish (aka, real rating is a good 3/10)
Orthall Bay: 2/10, nope. Nope I’d be taken out in a heartbeat. Monsters can go pspsps and I’d head straight into the dark creepy forest like a fool if someone comes @ me. Half the time I’ll just assume it’s sfx makeup and vibe until it’s too late.
god, never put me in a universe where I cannot squawk like a bird and throw pebbles from a window. Oof
Tumblr media
Anon, you're so sweet! I give you a forehead smoomch <333 As for your questions...
1. If I'm not writing, I'm usually watching video essays on Youtube. My go-to channels as of right now is Disrupt and Aperture! I just really like their videos. Aside from that, I recently got into podcasts. Currently going through Hello From The Hallowoods and Shelter and Warning, which are made by queer creators!
2. Oh oof, there's quite a bit so I'm just gonna put down one thing. For some reason, I really got into collecting tiny astronaut things? I recently bought this astronaut desk light, and I've got a package coming in for the miniatures I ordered. No purpose for them other than I think they're neat <3
3. I'm a bit private with my music taste (even tho I have Spotify connected on Discord lmao), but there's 5 songs that I'm currently obsessed with. I keep replaying them over and over again. Just squeezing all the serotonin I could get outta them.
4. I can't really say I have a fave TV show or movie because I can't really just pick one, but my current fave is 9-1-1 and Resident Alien. 9-1-1 because I just really love the found-family dynamics and how the show tackles sensitive topics, and Resident Alien because it's lighthearted comedy. My all-time fave movie is Flipped! I have the book too and I like rereading from time to time <3
5. You're in for a doozy, anon, because we're rating each other's games <333
The Goodfellows: 7/10
Listen. Shenanigans with the Traveler. I would get up to so many of them and that is what'll get me possibly bodied, not the actual environment itself <3
Greater than Gods: 7/10
I like to think I have enough common sense to uhhh not recklessly flip stones that should not be flipped <3 I'm a cautious and skeptic person irl so I think I'll hold up well? Then again, it's a vast environment change and while I can adapt pretty quick, I wouldn't like the lack of control in the unknown.
Vardir: 10/10
Going off what Cruz said, Vardir is lighthearted and focused on personal growth so I think I'll be okay! Self-growth here I come, babey!
Creatures' Cradle: 8/10
Maybe I'm overestimating myself, but I think I'll be able to survive in a supernatural post-apocalyptic world! Ah, but it depends on the motivation though. I like the idea of rebuilding communities and eventually societies, but the survival turmoil would be a constant battle I'd have to overcome. If we're talking survival itself though, I think I'll do well.
When it Hungers: 8/10
That's probably my wishful thinking but I think I'll be fine. Maybe. Possibly. Don't like the idea of being regulated by an organization so if I was a non-human creature that could pose a problem but I can roll with it <3
Orthall Bay: 6/10
Assuming I'm not playing as MC, my chances of survival uhhh changes quite drastically. Not enough to guarantee an untimely demise, but certainly enough that it would constantly keep me on my toes. I think that's the safest answer I can get without spoiling anything lmao
Tumblr media
Thank you so much for asking! It's super sweet of you <3
1. Too many :'D I knit, I sew, I do carpentry (well, learning), I bake, I'm hammering away at HTML and CSS, my job kind of encourages learning new things and I take that to picking up new hobbies!
2. My time is kind of consumed with school work and work work and WIP work so not a lot of time to pursue niche interests right now. I've been watching a lot of horror game playthroughs, true crime youtubers, and an adorable show on Netflix called the Repair Shop <3
3. My taste in music is "what am I vibing with atm?" I've been listening to a lot of 80's music atm (don't @ me), but also Lo Fang and Kaleo, and whatever spotify recommends me on my discover weekly which is usually complete chaos.
4. I love the Mummy even though it hasn't aged 100% well (I'm a librarian, of course it's one of my gotos LOL), Legally Blonde, Leverage, Jumanji (the original), I'm....very bad at having recent tastes... and very bad at remembering my favorites when asked.
Tumblr media
5.
The Goodfellows: I'm a creature of comfort, 5/10 if I can just luxuriate in town and not actually interact with the story sfjkdbsdkf
Creature’s Cradle: I'd like to think I have a 50/50 shot XD 5/10, I want to think I'd be decent at a zombie apocalypse but ultimately would suffer an early fate.
Greater Than Gods: 10/10 if I'm just vibing, less so if I'm involved in the actual story XD
Vardir: I'd still suffer without technology but I can also knit for a living in this world so I'm down 8/10
When it Hungers: I feel like I could vibe here, there's tech if dated, hot showers, telephones are around by now... might still get bored. 7/10 though it'd be cool to be another creature....I should make a 'what creature of snv are you' quiz!
Orthall Bay: 7/10 idk I feel like after the first monster of the week I'd just skip town XDDDD I'm the worst protagonist, I see danger I just leave.

☆ sf9 x coworker!au | congrats on your first win!
youngbin
happily gives you a tour of the office on your first day
oh no! did you get a papercut? scrap your knee? get a headache? come to him and he will get you all better!
opens his drawer and it’s neatly organized - labels and color-coded rubber bands
takes criticism with grace you have never before seen, literally could be being torn to shreds by the boss and he just smiles and bows with the utmost respect
(screams about how stressed he is later on in the supply closet when no one is around to hear him)
won’t admit it, but envies the workers who have cute photos of their family and partners on their office desks,,,,,,,,,,when will he have that?
gets paired with you on a project and since you are new everyone thinks you’re just a burden
but youngbin leads you through it step by step, doing overtime if he has to just to help correct your work, and squeezing your hand gently before you have to present it to the managers
way too reserved to outright ask you on a date, but when you invite him to lunch he absolutely agrees and walks around the office with stars in his eyes for the rest of the day
inseong
“hey, don’t do it like that! here let me show you the keyboard shortcut for it! hey you know that’s the old version of microsoft word right? hey! hey! you need my help i know you do!”
sticks his nose in everyone else's business even when his own work is piling up
wears bowties unironically
will talk shit about the higher-ups at lunch and then shower them in praise at company meetings
does not have a filter sometimes, but thankfully his brain and good looks have gotten him out of some tricky situations with clients
pokes his head over his cubicle to ask his best friend jaeyoon the most stupid questions
“jaeyoon, am i annoying?”
“inseong finish the financial report before we both get fired.”
you get an error screen on your computer so you ask inseong for some help
the entire walk to your office, he’s telling you that he’s pretty much a computer genius - like he didn’t go to school for computer science - but if he wanted he could totally just be in the IT department
but when he looks at your computer for about five minutes, he presses something and the whole thing just. dies.
spends time bribing an unwilling, way more tech-savvy chani to come and help you out
and when chani finally agrees, it takes him like two seconds to fix the problem, but before he goes he tells you “inseong just made it worse, watch out for him.”
inseong sticks his tongue out, but gets embarrassingly apologetic in front of you, but you tell him it’s fine - jokingly commenting “being so cute gets you out of trouble alot, right?”
inseong can’t stop thinking about it for weeks - did, did that mean that YOU think HE’S cute?
jaeyoon: hey. snap out of it and get to work dude
jaeyoon
shows up to work with his gym bag, changes in the bathroom, and comes out looking more put together than half the other guys
do not touch his protein shake and salad
it is over for you if you do
always gets roped into doing the heavy lifting and a part of him is too nice to say no, but the other part is like - this is going to be a great squat workout so why not
secretly judges hwiyoung and taeyang for always buying lunch like learn to cook
best butt in the office, maybe even the building
has gotten propositioned by higherups and he’s always turning them down in the most roundabout, kind way
“are you free this weekend jaeyoon?”
“oh i wish i was, id love to spend some time with you - but i have to take care of my grandmother’s ailing........parakeet.”
keeps buying supplies for himself that keeps getting stolen
and everyone is like it’s inseong. he’s taking them. and jaeyoon is like nooooooo he’s my bestie he would never
(he did though)
you ask jaeyoon one day if you should get into running - you’ve wanted to pick it up for a while but don’t know where to start
suddenly his eyes are twinkling and he’s grabbing your hands in his like
“let me show you the wonderful world of exercise!”
you didn’t know what you were getting into, but now you somehow end up morning jogging with jaeyoon
one day dawon spots both of you coming in with duffel bags and he’s like “oooooo did you spend the night together?” and you turn tomato red
as jaeyoon, without a hint of shame goes, “no! but we did just break a sweat together - right!?”
dawon: oh my god
you: oh my god
jaeyoon: what- what did i say?
dawon
designated office party planner
it’s your birthday? someone in HR is having a baby? it’s friday and everyone looks sad so it’s up to dawon to make it better - well here he goes
coffee stain central up on this boy
every time he gives a presentation, someone ends up going like “did that even make sense?”
and dawon, at this point is like, “no i dont make sense. so stop asking. anyway - that’s what i think the company should do about lost net profit.”
when he’s getting scolded for a mistake, he somehow ends up saying something that leaves the manager in a fit of laughter
which results in him never really getting into trouble
(much to the annoyance of other coworkers cough zuho cough)
photocopies his face like he’s in third grade
doesn’t give back the pens he borrows
knocks over taeyang’s plants on a daily basis and blames rowoon’s tall ass for it
he recruits you into going cake shopping after work for chani’s birthday and as you’re looking at them
you notice how hard he’s working to pick a flavor chani likes
and you point out how sentimental he really is about his coworkers and dawon shrugs and for a moment you see a bit of seriousness as he explains, “they put up with me - so i want to thank them in one way.”
you frown, “what do you mean they put up with you? you’re the sunshine of the office!”
the words make dawon bashful and shy for what seems like the first time in his life and he plays it off like a joke to distract you from the fac that
well that you made clown lee dawon all blushy
rowoon
his mom bought him this shirt and no he isn’t embarrassed. his mom has great taste. obviously.
slow typer
unlike inseong, whose tall lanky body can slink past anything like water, rowoon is clumsy
hits his head on door frames, walks into tall file cabinets, his knees his the top of the table during meetings and he gets all apologetic
higherups have tried to convince him to be in a commercial to promote the company but he’s so humble he doesn’t think he’s worthy
dawon from some corner: ill do it
walks into work with his headphones and forgets to take them off until youngbin is practically yelling for him to turn around
bothers chani every hour on the dot
says he just walked over to stretch his legs but really he just wants to see what chani is up to
gets giddy over sparkly new things like the coffee machine being replaced
or getting a new work laptop
one afternoon, you’re really busy typing up a report that when a shadow looms over you - you nearly don’t notice it
until, out of the corner of your eye you glance up and let out a yelp because rowoon is bending over you to squint at your screen
“sorry, oh gosh i didn’t mean to scare you!”
his wide eyes turn puppy-like with apology and you suddenly feel like you’re the guilty party for making such a sweet person sad
when you ask if he needs help or something, rowoon nods and explains that the report you’re working on references an old report he did and he needs to tell you about some changes
without thinking twice he leans over you, both hands on either side of you as he places his large hand over yours on the mouse
you freeze as he clicks around till he opens his report, and feel something shiver up your spine when he talks close against your ear
rowoon is so oblivious, he doesn’t even catch you tensing up, until inseong strolls buy and wolf whistles at you two
(rowoon proceeds to apologize for this incident for the next month straight)
taeyang
last to arrive, first to leave
what does he even do here? no one really knows - sometimes they think he’s just sitting in his office and daydreaming for the entire eight hour work day
his phone is always going off with notifications, but if you send him a text in the work gc he does not respond
gets up to disappear into the bathroom like five times in an hour, compulsively brushes his teeth and puts on hand cream
keeps potted plants on his desk which are named after his favorite celebrities
yes, there is a jongin cacti, don’t make fun of it
when asked a question at meetings, he answers slow and steady and in such a low voice that no one knows what he said
but no one ever asks him to speak up because when he looks at you
he’s looking at you with such an intensity that most people choose to keep their mouth shut
like jaeyoon, some higherups are interested in him, but there’s rumors that he’s probably a secret royal living among the normal populace for fun so no one really tries it
one day, you see taeyang at the water cooler and say a bubbly hello
he responds with a tiny nod and then you ask, “is the water for you or for your plants?”
he blinks and explains that it’s for his plants - which you get all excited about and ask if you can meet them
which catches him off guard because no one has ever asked to “meet” his plants, actually most people think it’s weird that he harbors them so closely
so when he leads you over to his desk - he’s even more astounded with how you get excited over the different names and types
and you thank him for letting you know about all of them
waving goodbye as you leave the office
he tells himself to think nothing of it, but when he finds a stack of plant nutrient packets on his desk the next day with a note from you
he thinks,,,,,,,,,,well finally - there’s someone of interest to him in this otherwise boring office after all
zuho
finishes all his projects the night before
has spent nights in the office
almost scared rowoon half to death when he left and said bye to zuho and when he came in the next day zuho was in the same spot, wearing the same thing, staring at the same open file
rowoon had thought he had been like. mummified
the slacks he wears are too short, dawon will not stop pointing this out
pictures of his cat in his office
every secret santa they’ve ever done, zuho gets cat toys
mutters about being overworked, but really if he just ,,,,,,,, if he just did his work at a reasonable hour - it’d be fine
gets antsy when he’s eating and catches anyone else eating - but like with their hands
like he’ll be enjoying his lunch, but his anxiety hits the roof when he turns and sees that taeyang has spilled sauce on his tie and hasn’t noticed
“please smile more - you’re scaring the client”
you’re having a late lunch one afternoon - so you’re alone in the break room
and zuho comes in, slumping over into the seat beside you and pulling his own lunch from his bag
you haven’t ever talked much with him before so it’s a bit awkward
when suddenly you hear him ask,
“is that a - is that a cat lunch box?”
you feel your face flush with embarrassment, and you try to explain that you’re going to buy a new - more professional looking one -
but zuho shakes his head and lifts the cover to see the cartoon orange cat and
and giggles?!?!?!
and you’re like omg what he looks so cute, he usually looks so intimidating but right now he looks like??? a baby???
and he goes “no, no don’t change it. it’s so nice. also finally, someone with some decency to bring a lunch box - sometimes dawon just fishes half-eaten food out of his backpack and i die a little inside.”
you and zuho bond over being cat people and proper tableside manners LOL
hwiyoung
could give less of a shit about this job
is vocal about it too
youngbin has been trying to get him to wear something more business-y since he started here but if you put a tie on hwiyoung
in like an hour you’ll find it in the trashcan
“why can’t you just wear it?”
“it makes my neck feel weird.”
everyone thought he was this cold, selfish young guy until one day the entire office heard him on a phone call with his sister
getting all mushy and hearing her call him his “cute baby brother”
after that, even if he was trying to death glare at dawon, it wasn’t working
because now he’s the offices “cute baby brother”
even though chani is younger than him LOL
secretly tries to play video games during work hours by switching between tabs
and taeyang is like c’mon we’re not that bad with computer - but rowoon is like woah wait you can do two different things???? at once????? on a computer????
hates to admit it to anyone, but he doesn’t have a drivers licenses so he gets dropped off by friends sometimes
sometimes has to ask youngbin for a ride home and youngbin is like of course!!!!!! anything for a coworker :D
and hwiyoung is like hhhh how are you so happy all the time butalsothankyou
too self-conscious to whip out his glasses so he suffers through contacts
you bump into hwiyoung on the subway, which you never see him take, and can tell he’s lost
because he rushes up to you like he’s never done before and is like are you going to the office!!!!
you and him take the ride together and when you open your phone to play your favorite game - his eyes light up like christmas
and he spends the half hour helping you get passed the harder bosses
you almost miss your stop because you two are way too engrossed in the game and ever since then
hwiyoung thinks you’re one of the “cool” office people
chani
everyone adores him
from his coworkers to the mailman to the secretary to the higherups
all he has to do is show up and everyone is like - in a better mood
which he doesn’t get because most of the time he’s frowning or running away from rowoon
has to fix everyone’s tech problems
but won’t do it for free - so people give them their lunches or even, in extremes, bargain off vacation days
hwiyoung is the only person who doesn’t really coddle him and therefore hwiyoung is the only person chani willingly goes out to lunch wtih
rowoon: chaniiiiiii what are you eating today!
chani: sorry im going to ,,,,,, brazil for lunch, see you in 2-5 business days
he just wants to work in peace and quiet
it took him an hour to explain to inseong how the bluetooth on his phone works
he is the quintessential “look into the camera like you’re on the office” mood
someone from billing tried to flirt with him at the christmas party and nearly was falling over into his lap
and he was like “,,,,,,,,,,are you sick?”
actually really proud of himself when he gets complimented on his work, but he refuses to show a change in emotion
you’re tinkering with an old monitor in the supply room to see if you can fix it and take it home since youngbin said they’ll be throwing it away
and chani walks by just in time to hear inseong tell you to ask chani for help
you wave it off, explaining you don’t want to bother him
and chani tries to walk away, but finds himself working on the monitor during lunch and then shyly and unsurely handing it over to you
“wh- did you fix it?”
“yeah, nothings really wrong with it but -”
“thanks! should i treat you to lunch sometime?”
chani’s already wide eyes go wider and he agrees, stuttering over his words
later on he finds jaeyoon and zuho and without even explaining the situation he asks
“is going to lunch with a coworker what they call a date?”
in about two seconds everyone except you is in the room, pestering chani for information and rowoon is sobbing because ‘chani is finally growing up’

Hey this might be kind of stupid to ask but I wonder what would happen if the Wild Kratts crew, villains included(Exept the girl who likes to pave stuff, sorry I couldn’t catch her name because I couldn’t finish the episode because of a doctors appointment) But anyway I wonder what it would be like if the WK crew played Minecraft? I really want to see your take on this subject matter. I hope it wasn’t to hard for you😅. If it was I apologize
Thanks for the ask!  I’ve actually never played Minecraft, so I can’t answer in any great detail, but I rarely turn down an exercise in characterization or an excuse to come up with WK headcanons!  I’ve read up on it a little bit now and will do my best to relate my view of the characters and their personalities to my understanding of the game (and gaming in general, for any elements that may not apply directly to Minecraft per se), and hopefully you won’t be disappointed with the result.  :)
The Crew
Chris primarily enjoys Survival games, either as a single player or teaming up with Martin.  He takes a very strategic approach, often spending a lot of time in Creative or Peaceful mode beforehand to gather, craft, and/or build exactly what he thinks he will need, and mapping out plans for how to deal with various enemies or situations that he might face.  When playing collaboratively, Chris generally directs the operations, although he is open to other ideas besides his own, especially when his plans don’t work out as expected.  Possibly because of the time he’s invested, he takes defeats harder than his brother does, although he rarely lets it show (and he will usually step away from a game and do something else instead if he feels himself getting too frustrated or irritable).
Martin: In certain moods, he will spend a fair amount of time in Creative mode, building something artistic or just plain cool, but he can more often be found playing Survival.  He prefers multiplayer to single player games, and although Chris is his favorite game partner, he will team up with just about anyone who might be available.  Martin’s general approach to this type of gaming is to skip over most of the strategy and advance planning in favor of jumping right into the adventure and taking each situation as it comes, developing plans on the spot as needed.  Those plans don’t always work, of course (although it’s pretty impressive how often he’s able to come up with and execute something effective on the spur of the moment), but he generally just files each defeat under “What Not to Do” and tries again with the knowledge that he’ll need to try something different the next time.
Jimmy, unsurprisingly, is the game master of the crew.  He has played so much that he has an extremely good sense for what might be coming next, in addition to all of the pro tips he’s both researched and picked up along the way.  Even Chris will defer to his expertise when they team up in multiplayer games, although Jimmy is just as happy to play alone.  He generally plays Survival mode unless he is feeling stressed or anxious, in which case he will hang out in Peaceful mode for a while.
I usually avoid grouping Aviva and Koki together, since the two ladies are by no means indistinguishable or interchangeable, but in this case my answer for them is the same: they are both obsessed with redstone circuits and would rather build stuff than actually play the game.  Sometimes they work together; sometimes they challenge each other to see who can come up with the coolest contraption or the best way to solve a given problem.  They will often share their innovations with the bros or even design things for them upon request, although there may be some negotiation involved; to Jimmy they give everything for free.  I headcanon that Koki was initially introduced to the game by Jimmy and still plays Survival games with him when she’s not building things.  Also, this doesn’t apply so much to Minecraft, but for player v. player games in general I theorize that Aviva can get super competitive and that she will sometimes opt to remain on the sidelines because she doesn’t always like the person she turns into when she gets too caught up in a game.
The Villains
Donita has relatively little interest in any of the gameplay modes (she prefers faster-paced games), but loves the design features.  She has an ever-growing “wardrobe” of custom character skins, and also enjoys building and decorating elaborate homes and other structures.  Dabio does enjoy the game but prefers to play in Peaceful mode where he can just explore the world and build whatever makes him happy.  He also has a lot of fun watching others play via Spectator mode, although he is always happy to join in a multiplayer Survival game if asked.
Paisley Paver (the one who likes to pave stuff; I couldn’t resist): I actually don’t see Paisley spending much time playing computer games, to be honest – she’s too focused on efficiency and profitability.  If she were to play, however, she would definitely research (or, more likely, have Rex research) ways to automate and streamline processes like mining and producing resources.  Also, in a multiplayer game, other players would be well advised to stay out of her way.  She will collaborate with you if it serves her purposes, but she is not a team player, and she can be quite ruthless in the pursuit of her goals.  I would bet that Rex plays enthusiastically, though.  He and Dabio probably get together on a server from time to time.
Zach probably tries to hack the game so he can get extra health, resources, etc.  Like Paisley, he prefers to automate as much as possible, although he will develop some of the systems himself rather than relying only on known processes.  He will occasionally join a random multiplayer game, but he’s not great at communicating or collaborating with others and usually opts to play alone.  His dream would actually be to break into the WK server and mess with their gameplay (after downloading copies of everything that Aviva has built), but no luck so far.
Gourmand, of course, is all about the food crafting and potion brewing, and spends the bulk of his time testing out new recipes.  He plays Hardcore mode.

On The Move
Being a freelancer / working from home, you’d think I’m just on my computer in my pajamas all day, right? Well, you’re not totally wrong BUT it does give me the flexibility to be out and about (which I am quite often). Whether I’m running errands, heading to a meeting, or going out for the night, there’s a 90% chance I’ll be in sneakers (and as of late, the Nike Air Max 270s).
There’s also an 85% chance I’ll be in some other Nike gear as I have fully adopted Athleisure. It’s not a trend..it’s actually my life. If you’ve been following me since the beginning (or at least for a while now) I’m sure you’ve seen how much my style has changed. I almost always wore heels, I wouldn’t be caught dead in athletic clothes outside the gym…and look at me now!
I’m grateful for brands like Nike making athletic clothes actually stylish, so I can be super comfortable, look cute, go to the gym, not go to the gym…wherever life takes me, it’s now taking me in my 270s 😊
With Air Max Day coming up (3/26!) I wanted to share a sort of day in the life / some of my favorite spots around Chicago wearing my new favorite kicks.
Nike took a little bit of DNA from multiple iconic Air Max silhouettes and remixed them to make the 270 pop in a modern and fun way. Pulling from the Air Max 180 and Air Max 93 specifically, these are the first Air Max’s that are strictly lifestyle (meaning not meant to be worked out in, but still designed with performance in mind…I’ve already walked miles in mine). And with the heel being its highest ever, it wouldn’t make much sense to run a marathon in them anyway (but with how comfortable these are, I may just consider it!) It’s funny that I absolutely hated that wedge sneaker trend a while back (sorry Isabel Marant), yet I can’t get enough of the 270s. Leave it to Nike to make a sneaker with height look badass.
I spend most days in a leggings + sweatshirt + sneakers combo. If I’m not at home during the day, I’m typically running errands, walking my dogs and / or working out. I’ve learned to really value wellness and self-care as of late (it takes more than just exercising a few days a week!) I enjoy meditating or trying a new “healthy activity.” My current fave (as you know from Winter Vibes) is Aire (pun not intended 😄). I WISH being submerged in those pools was something I did on the daily but it’s something I love and brings me a whole new level of relaxation. It’s important to unwind every once in a while and this is the perfect place to do it.
I couldn’t help but include a little Jim Bachor in here. He’s known for his “pothole art” (who knew a pothole could be so…ramen?) The fact that he has a piece in the Nike store on Michigan Avenue and I just can’t help but smile (and take a shoefie) every time I see one of his mosaics…this just had to happen.
Once I get out of my leggings, I’ll likely just switch to jeans (still in a  sweatshirt though…always 😝). I often take meetings at coffee shops and although I’d more likely be at Caffe Streets, I do love Metric roasters on Fulton (same owners, same great coffee!)
I am a coffee snob and I’m not going to apologize for it. BUT both locations do a mean iced matcha latte with oat milk. I never order milky drinks (whether it’s dairy or non-dairy milk — I just prefer coffee and tea straight up) but this is one of my very few exceptions. It’s a nice little tasty caffeinated treat!
Same outfit. Different outing. I’m not messing around when I say I live in a versatile wardrobe — because I’m taking this exact outfit to get my groove on.
I love seeing live music (Concord, Metro, Lincoln Hall, you name it) and the last few shows I’ve been to, I’ve worn this exact outfit (minus the jacket…needed a heavier coat IRL, unfortunately). Let me tell you from experience…the 270s make a great dancing shoe 💃.
This last look was a little different for me. I’m always in jeans or leggings — a sneaker’s best friend. When I wear culottes, however, I usually go for loafers or heels. So I decided that I’m no longer going to wear anything unless I can wear my 270s with it (and I do love these pants) so I made them happen with a leather jacket, bodysuit and of course, some Air Max’s.
I have to say, I’m pretty happy with the results (if I do say so myself). The JC Rivera definitely doesn’t hurt the situation either!
But of course the day isn’t over without some EATS.
Lonesome Rose is my new favorite spot (brunch, drinks, dinner, chill, repeat). It’s super cute on the inside and the food is awesome. The tacos, the corn, the nachos, the queso, the cocktails (!!) Let’s just say I could use a leisurely stroll in my 270s every time I leave there (which I will surely do come summer!)
And there you have it –a few of my favorite things in Chicago wearing one of my favorite brands. You can say it’s a good day!
Which color combo is your favorite? I’ve been wearing the black and pink the most but they’re all so damn good. There’s a ton more on Nike.com (for both men and women…these really look good on everyone!) so get your self a pair just in time for the global celebration of Air Max Day on March 26!
And heads up…starting Thursday (3/22) Nike Chicago will drop all new Air Max 270 styles, as well as Pogo (a dope new boutique in Lincoln Park, also seen here) and the NordstromxNike boutique. So, next time I see you, I hope to see you in some 270s!
Also let me know if it’s insane to own one shoe in four colors because these just might have to happen too (maybe five because these… #sendhelp #sendnike).
In partnership with Nike. Photos by Heather Talbert.

Why You Don`t Exercise - Find Out What`s Holding You Back!
Are you obese? Guilty of beginning as well as giving up even more diet strategies as well as workout programs compared to you wish to keep in mind? If so, you could be questioning what's wrong with you ... are you lazy? There are lots of lazy individuals in this globe, yet a lot of us don't come under that classification. Here's why you don't exercise.
There's a Little Devil In Your Head!
I'm not clinically insane (hopefully) but I do have voices in my head.
These voices come from every person from my parents to that individual on TELEVISION who's constantly informing me that I can lose weight in just mins a day. My most famous voice is The Little Devil. If you've ever before had a disagreement with yourself like this, you may have a Demon also: You: Time to workout! Little Devil: Uh, I don't really feel like it. I'm tired. You: Come on ... we already missed our exercise yesterday. LD: Two days? Big deal! You: However every time we miss an exercise, it gets less complicated not to exercise. LD: I'm tired. The last point I intend to do is some boring, sweaty workout. You: Weary from exactly what? Resting in front of a computer system all day? LD: Hey, our favored program is on ... don't you want to watch it? You: Well ... I presume we COULD watch TV and also then workout... LD: That's what I'm talking about!
Next thing you know, you're propped on the sofa with a pain in your hand from network surfing. How did that happen?
Getting Eliminate the Little Devil
Stop the argument. For each justification the demon designs, reply, "I'm working out anyway." Better yet, just say, "I'm not listening! La la la la!"
Remind yourself of the facts. You're not physically tired (unless you have a physical task), you're emotionally exhausted. The very best remedy for that is exercise as well as, as soon as you begin, you'll feel better...really!
Be prepared. Having your workout equipment useful and your exercise time set up can be a huge assistance in taking care of The Little Devil.
Never sit down. If you workout after work, don't even let on your own sit down and also view TV or talk yourself right into going residence first rather than the fitness center. If you require a change, attempt something gentle, but active - extending or doing a light, satisfying job. If you workout in the morning, put on your workout clothes right away so you don't have a reason to skip your workout.
Now, you've taken care of the voices in your head. Time to identify the best ways to be enthusiastic concerning workout (really, it's possible).

The Exercise Blah's
The Blah's take place to all of us. You excitedly prepare a week's worth of workout routines on Sunday however, Monday comes and all of a sudden your very early morning workout seems regarding as much fun as cleaning up the commode. Exactly what took place to that excitement? Are you lazy?
Not necessarily.
If you were actually lazy you possibly wouldn't care whether you walked during lunch or ate a Large Mac. No, what you are is possibly daunted, perhaps even afraid.
Afraid that:
You won't be able to go very far. Suppose you can just make it for 5 mins? Lame!
It will be hard. You'll need to alter garments, then you'll need to sweat (ugh). Your lungs will burn, your legs will certainly injure ... no thanks!
You won't reach the guidelines laid out by the ACSM: as much as 60 mins of exercise 5 days a week. If you can't do that, why bother?
You won't be perfect. What if you pass other 'real' exercisers while you puff for hardly a mile? Just what will certainly they think?
The should do it right ... to do it completely ... to work as tough as you can is just what makes it hard to do to begin with. But, you have to start with baby steps.
Recapture that enthusiasm
Redefine your suggestion of exercise. Does workout=work? It doesn't have to. You currently function throughout the day ... why would certainly you want another unpleasant task to do? Think of it like this: I've been sitting in this stale workplace throughout the day hearing my boss gripe, currently I have 30 whole mins to obtain out of right here for a while. That's not exercise--that's sanity!
Ask for help. Is there somebody at the workplace or a buddy you count on? Tell them you're having difficulty sticking with exercise as well as ask to exercise with you.
Remind yourself. Compose on your own notes and put them on your computer system, your auto, your shoes ... all over. Advise on your own of your plan ("I will exercise for 30 mins today") and why you're doing it ("I'd love to wear a sleeveless tee shirt this summer").
Do what you can. If you can't exercise for HALF AN HOUR yet, so what? Choose as lengthy as you could and do even more tomorrow. It's that simple and it all counts.
Now, you've gotten your head on straight, why not play a few mind online games with yourself? Utilizing your imagination can include a little inspiration to your workouts on those days when it's hard to obtain your butt moving.
Next page:  Mind Games
Mind Games
Luke Skywalker utilized the pressure ... why can't you? The creativity is a powerful device as well as one you could make use of for your workout routines.
If you've ever before dropped off in the middle of an uninteresting meeting (fantasizing of a leisurely day at the coastline), you currently understand how you can do it. Your body LIKES activity (actually!). It's your mind that's the issue, so you need to encourage it that there really is a good reason to exercise.
Here's exactly how to utilize your mind over matter capacities:
Make a deal with yourself. You'll workout for 15 minutes and also if you still REALLY don't wish to continue, then you could stop. 9 breaks of 10 you'll keep going.
Give yourself a reward. If you finish your exercise, give on your own something wonderful. A new set of footwears, an one hour reviewing your favorite book, a massage therapy, etc.
Visualize. Professional athletes typically visualize themselves winning a race to obtain themselves inflated. You can do the very same point by picturing yourself going with your exercise from starting to end. Just how do you feel when you're completed? Just how numerous miles did you stroll or run? Picture your success and also make it happen.
Pretend. Sometimes I pretend that I'm in a race and, if I win, I obtain a million dollars. True, it's unusual, yet it maintains me going when I get tired. Pretend that you're racing to capture a bus, or that if you make it house in a particular amount of time, Nike will be there to put you in one of their 'Just Do It' commercials. You'll be rich and famous!
Working things out. My favored aspect of running is that it offers me silent time to consider any issues I'm facing. Utilize your workout time to overcome issues. You'll be amazed at the results!
Changing your lifestyle to include exercise is no simple job and also the most important point you'll do is adjust your attitude.
Believing regarding workout as a responsibility will certainly never ever encourage you to do it. Rather, deal with workout like a break from a demanding day, a reward for a body that has actually worked so hard for you all day long and as something that is worthy of a benefit at the end.

A few days and a few games worth of experience on the Switch
Chipz is back at it with another post! But this time it’s about my experiences so far with owning the Nintendo Switch. Super Mario Odyssey just came out last weekend on October 27th, 2017. Boy was there A lot of hype behind that game, and to be honest I expected it to do well. However, with the release of Super Mario came a bundle deal. In this bundle you get a digital code of the game to download along with a Nintendo Switch with Joy-Cons that have the iconic red color, the same as Mario’s colors. In the bundle you also get a carrying case for your Switch console with a new character named Cappy on the front which is also in red.
Super Mario Nintendo Switch bundle with Cappy on the front of the carrying case
Now this isn’t my first time owning a system from Nintendo, as I’ve had the NES, N64, a few of the Game Boys, and the Nintendo 3ds. *I just recently purchased the Super NES classic.  I’m going to state some of the things that I like about the Switch and then say what I don’t like, and give you some insight as to what I’m used to from being with Sony for so long.
PROS:
Hybrid between portable and console system
Having this advantage, you can take your games with you anywhere you go. Literally. As I’m writing this, my Nintendo Switch is in my book bag, in the carrying case(you gotta protect your stuff man).
HD compatible
Pretty much all of the games depending on the developer will be in full HD. When docked they will run at 1080p and when in hand-held mode they automatically go down to 720p. Honestly though, what console ISN’T in HD? It’s 2017 people, they better be!
Full motion controls
Now I feel this particular PRO is on a case-by-case basis. I’ve only had the system for a few days now but I haven’t had any problems with it, I think you can even turn off motion controls with most games if you don’t like it. So far it’s a plus for me. I need to exercise my arms anyway!
Expandable memory
The good thing with the switch is that it takes micro SD cards for additional memory. You can expand the memory of up to 2TB of data…of course when these actually come out. Nonetheless, the Switch supports it. Below are the types of micro SD cards that are compatible:
microSD (up to 2 GB)
microSDHC (4 GB – 32 GB)
microSDXC (64 GB and above)* This requires a system update*
With that said, here’s what can be saved to the memory cards:
Downloadable software
Software update data
Downloadable content (DLC)
Screenshots & video captures(part of the latest 4.0 update)
CONS:
Battery life
The battery life in hand-held mode can be very short. This depends on a few things like what games you play and the settings on your system. It was reported back in March when playing Zelda: Breath of The Wild the maximum amount of time you can get out of your system would be approximately 3 hours. Granted at the time that was one of the main games that came out, but you pretty much get the idea. Some games drain more battery life and some don’t. Speaking from personal experience, I played Super Mario for about an hour and a half and I ended up with roughly 30% battery life. Either way don’t expect a long gaming session if you’re in hand-held mode.
On-board memory
The Switch comes with 32gb of on-board memory. That’s horrible. No debating this point, so don’t try. While game saves don’t take up much memory, game data does. Perfect example: Super Mario takes up 5.3 gigabytes(gb) and an indie title named Stardew Valley only takes up 909 megabytes(mb). If I wanted to install Zelda: BoTW I’d be losing 13.4 gb of space. You also have to take into account the Switch’s OS, game title and software updates.  Some people and myself included, feel 32gb shouldn’t have been the starting point for memory. Cell phones don’t even come with 32gb anymore!
No cloud storage
Staying on the topic of memory here, there’s no cloud based storage for the Switch. You’d think Nintendo would want to come out swinging and going for the knock out but they didn’t. There are gamers out there in the world that download their games and buy physical copies. Some stick to digital downloads only, and some stick to the physical copies only. Either way you’re losing out on space. It might be really slow or it might be really fast. The end result is this: you’re being forced to opt for a micro SD card which can cost you upwards to over $100.
Transferable data
As of right now the only data that you can transfer from the console are screen shots, video captures, and game data. Not game saves! This is also a bad move since game saves were transferable from the Wii-U and Nintendo 3DS to a USB device. Nintendo has confirmed that game saves aren’t transferable, or at least they don’t want them to be right now. A Reddit user posted that he had to send his console in for repair and Nintendo gave him a brand new one. After doing a thorough check he noticed his game saves were on the new system that was sent to him. So this begs the question- will Nintendo eventually enable Switch users to transfer game saves in the future? If so, why not give us that option from the beginning?
Nintendo Smart App/Network
The Smart App was designed to be used as a chat system while you’re playing the game with other people. However that didn’t work out so well in the beginning. A good friend of mine named Avidan Smith spoke about this more in-depth. * Click here to get the full breakdown of what’s wrong with it. A lot of these issues are things that never happened on the other consoles.  Another issue is that you can’t purchase any kind of content from the app itself. You can make purchases from the website but as of right now I’m not sure how that works. If it’s the same way as the PSN store, then you can purchase content and it’ll be linked to your account to download later.
Nintendo Smart App
But here’s the thing with that too: on the PSN you can have your content automatically download to your console once the purchase is made. I routinely do this from the PSN app whenever I want to buy content to enjoy later on. I follow through with the  transaction process and have it download to my PS4 and by the time I get home it’s ready to go once I turn it on. I feel like this is something that should’ve launched with the switch, and if not shortly afterwards. However, we’ll have to wait until 2018 to see if there are any real improvements that are going to be made.
#gallery-0-6 { margin: auto; } #gallery-0-6 .gallery-item { float: left; margin-top: 10px; text-align: center; width: 50%; } #gallery-0-6 img { border: 2px solid #cfcfcf; } #gallery-0-6 .gallery-caption { margin-left: 0; } /* see gallery_shortcode() in wp-includes/media.php */
Playstation Network App
PSN App second sceen
I’m not going to count the fact that the Switch is lacking something called share play. Share play is a feature available on Playstation 4 where you can watch a friend’s screen for a certain amount of time via internet connection. You can watch a buddy play a game, or even take control and play a game that they have to get the feel of it or just to have a little bit of fun. I use this often with my friends to see if I want to play a game that they have and I don’t. This really gives you some purchasing power and makes up for the fact that there isn’t an abundance of demos and timed trials available on the PSN. The reason I’m not counting it as a CON is because Nintendo seems to give you demos of new games that are coming out, but it would be a nice feature to have when the console is docked.
So there you have it folks, some pros and some cons.  Nintendo actually had a pretty good start seeing as how they were so far behind with the Wii-U. If they can fix these issues I feel it can REALLY be a contender. On top of that they’re starting to get quite a bit of third party support. The momentum is strong with this one. I’m a PlayStation fan-boy(yes..I’ll admit it) but I can see when something’s good and/or bad and call a spade a spade. The PS4 is my preferred system of choice, it’s one thing I’ll always go back to. Coming from a Sony fan, I can say this is definitely worth buying so go pick one up. I’m honestly looking forward to playing as many games that will come out for the Switch cough cough Fire Emblem, Pokemon, Yoshi and Donkey Kong cough cough. Overall I do enjoy having the Switch and I’m having a good time with it where ever I go. Who says you can’t enjoy the best of both worlds?
*A review of the Super NES will be coming shortly on youtube so stay tuned!
*POST EDIT: Reggie Fil-Aimes, President of Nintendo North America has stated that Nintendo is aware of the issue with game saves. He sat down with Mashable earlier today and stated the following:
You’re talking to someone who has completed 120 Shrines, and I think I’m at 400 Korok seeds and growing [in The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild]. So I understand what it’s like putting a lot of time into content, and the thought of that content not being there.
We’re aware of the concern. Certainly, Nintendo is a consumer-oriented company [and] we want to make our consumers happy. We’re aware of the concern and it’s an area we’re going to continue working on to make sure that we can alleviate some of those consumer fears of having a content-based issue.
Because of the type of platform we have — it’s something that is on the go as well as connected in the home environment — there are some added complications. It’s not as simple as a piece of hardware that never moves and is always connected in an online environment.
Of course you know I have to call Bull—-! Throwing little jabs like these at Sony and Microsoft isn’t winning Nintendo any brownie points or favoritism from the gaming community. Simply because Sony and Microsoft figured out a way to back up game saves for their systems. Sony especially did this with the PSP/VITA with cross-platform play. Anyway, with this recent statement from Reggie coming out just earlier today everyone can predict we’ll be getting cloud storage within the next year. I’m going to go as far to say it’s coming but it’ll be included with the paid online subscription from Nintendo.
Should you buy a #switch ? #nintendo #console #gaming #sony #playstation #ps4 #videogames A few days and a few games worth of experience on the Switch Chipz is back at it with another post!

Hate Strength Training?
By Crabby McSlacker Strength training, alas, is still considered a crucial ingredient in the ever-changing recipe for a fit and healthy life.  Omitting this key ingredient is like trying to make meringue with no egg whites--the results may be disappointingly gloppier than you were intending. But it's not just about looking more buffed or losing weight more easily. There are plenty of important health benefits from strength training that I'm too lazy to list. But trust me, strength training is good for you in ways that cardio is not! You need both. Of course I realize that many people love weights and hate cardio. To me this is hilarious, like someone saying "no, I'll have to skip that cupcake-tasting party this evening, I've been really looking forward to cleaning up all the accumulated dog shit in our neighborhood." There's no accounting for taste. Me, I loathe strength training. Yet I've been doing it pretty damn regularly for over 25 years. From this you may conclude: (1) I've figured out a couple of tricks to make it less horrible. And, (2) I obviously need a few more tricks, or "loathe" wouldn't be the first word to come to mind when I think about lifting weights. So I'll share of a few of my sneaky motivational tips and maybe some of you have some better ideas? Bad-ass Aspirations I need a "fun" goal to shoot for, something that is at least theoretically doable that I would LOVE to be capable of some day. Sometimes I achieve these, more often I do not, but it's more about having something to motivate my ass to the gym. My current goal is actually and old goal, one that I reached at one point, yay me! And then lost it again, damn it. What can I say? Life got busy and I let things slide. Anyway, it's this: I want to be able to master unassisted chin-ups and/or pull-ups again.
via xray delta one
For some reason, in my twisted brain, this is a powerful symbolic achievement, saying "I've arrived" at a superior level of fitness. (Weird aside: the first analogy that came to mind: the ability to do these are like being handed "the keys to the executive washroom."  I never worked anywhere where there was an executive washroom. Do they really exist? Any other old farts have that archaic image lurking in the recesses of their brains? And where the hell did it come from, some old movie or something? ) I want my chin ups and pull ups back SO bad! But I suspect it's gonna be a while. I'll keep you posted. Variety, Duh Part of my motivational problem is that I tend to settle into a routine too easily, defaulting to my usual "favorites." (And by "favorite" I mean the exercises least likely to make myself want to leap off a tall building rather than force myself to complete them.) But there are many different ways to target the same muscles. Sometimes when you just can't stand the idea of say, lunges or cable rows or lat pull-downs or whatever you usually do, doing the same thing a different way can seem a less hideous alternative. Plus, if you do something you don't ordinarily do you have  no benchmark, and no pressure to meet any particular expectation about performance. Where to find ideas? Well, the google, obviously.  One helpful resource you might come across is the Ace Exercise Library but there are others, and YouTube is your friend in getting all sorts of ideas from all kinds of different folks. Or, obviously, you could hire a trainer or take a class, which is an awesome solution for most people. For me, not so much. I have control issues, what can I say? Another similar approach? Become a Creeper and Stalk Personal Trainers, Instructors, etc And Steal Their Ideas You don't have to be totally obvious about it, but if you run across a boot camp at a park, or notice some interesting moves the personal trainers at the gym are teaching, or peek into a class or whatever, you may find some novel "functional" moves designed to torture your body in different ways than you are accustomed to. Give 'em a try! Toys and Gadgets!   There are tons of these, from stretchy bands to expensive home gyms. Some of my faves: doorway pull-up bars, TRX-type gizmos, and of course, who can forget the not-so-world famous Crabitron? Oh, and hurling and slamming medicine balls? Very, very cathartic in these troubled times.  Playgrounds and Other Outdoor Locations!   Take a few portable toys like a TRX or some stretchy bands and maybe a kettlebell if you're not going far, and combine these with a body weight routine... then take the show on the road! You may find other "exercise equipment" to take advantage of in the form of benches, stairs, playground equipment, dunes, large rocks, logs, branches, etc...with a little imagination you can look like a complete ass just like Crabby does when attempting a playground workout. If You Really Like The Big Machines, Fuck It, Go Ahead and Use Them I know all the cool kids flock to the old school "iron" section of the gym, where the barbells and dumbells live, and there is a lot of huffing and grunting and sweating. I'm all for this in theory, and I usually do a couple of things there, but, well, my goals are not about being able to move a grand piano or win American Ninja Warrior. I want to generally be a little stronger, and look a little more athletic, and not injure myself too frequently. And I find the big machines that work one muscle group at a time in artificial isolation to be a lot more comfortable.  I have never been able to stand the feeling of a weighted barbell digging into my shoulders. So, screw it, I use the machines along with the other uncool kids, the seniors and the newbies, because otherwise I would probably not be doing any strength training at all. Ditch Multiple Sets  The idea of doing something I'm already not crazy about 8-15 times, then sitting there doing absolutely nothing for at least 30 seconds, then repeating the whole thing over again and again? Acck! Shoot me now! But I do understand that you get better results if you keep taxing your tired muscles until they are SO exhausted and pissed off they simply won't obey you any more. However, there are some alternatives to all that drudgery. You can do your extra sets using a whole different exercise targeting the same muscle groups. Why not mix it up? Or, even sneakier: you can do one set and still maximize the results. Two ways I like to do this, and I often combine them. 1. If I've calibrated the amount of weight properly, my muscles give out at the end of a set and I can't do anymore. But instead of taking a long rest period, I pause at the end of the set for say 5-10 seconds and, voila, I can do another rep! And then another. I keep with the brief pauses until I really really can't do anymore. This way I'm getting several sets worth of the hardest reps, the ones I suspect are the most productive, without having to spend all day futzing around with easier reps and rest time. 2. If I'm on a machine with a pin I can easily reach, I start with a weight that's way too heavy, do a couple of reps, then go down to the next heaviest, and keep easing up until I can get through a whole set.  Again, this maximizes the Ugly Reps that are actually breaking down muscle fiber, and keeps me from feeling too guilty as I scurry off after just one set. Yet it Still Sucks So yeah, all this stuff keeps me from quitting entirely, but it doesn't keep me from hating my "weights" days. So any ideas anyone is willing to share are most welcome! Do you guys do strength training? Love it or hate it? Got any ideas for me? Hate Strength Training? posted first on your-t1-blog-url

Technology Is More Broken Than Ever: Centercode CEO Luke Freiler on Creating More Meaningful Tech
Our imagination is outstripping the pace of innovation – which creates many opportunities.
April 8, 2020 6 min read
Opinions expressed by Entrepreneur contributors are their own.
In this series called Member Showcase, we publish interviews with members of The Oracles. This interview is with Luke Freiler, co-founder and CEO of Centercode, a customer validation provider helping companies bring products to market. It was condensed by The Oracles.
What was a defining moment early in your life?  Luke Freiler: Early in my career, I fell in love with an emerging domain called usability. At the time, the idea that technology should be friendly and easy to use was still somewhat novel, yet usability proposed a framework to deliver on that goal. My early obsession with this field eventually blossomed into a career and a thriving business.
Share an interesting fact about yourself that not many people would know. Luke Freiler: I love technology, but ironically, I have incredibly limited patience for it. If you put these two ideas together, you can understand why Centercode exists. As a tech-obsessed kid, I was troubleshooting every computer, network, and printer within a five-block radius. I started the company to solve this problem at the broadest level possible.
What excites you the most about your business right now? Luke Freiler: It sounds sadistic, but stay with me: What excites me most is that technology is now more broken than ever, which creates many opportunities to fix it.
Today’s technology products are incredibly sophisticated and interconnected. They’re expected to do and be more than products of the past, which makes it harder than ever to ensure that they fit seamlessly into today’s diverse, complex environments. As we use established technology to push the boundaries of what’s possible even further, our imagination is outstripping the pace of innovation. For a tech fanatic like myself, looking for new and better ways to test products is like Christmas every day, with an endless supply of puzzles to solve. I love that I get to figure out ways to make technology even better.
What’s your favorite quote? Luke Freiler: “Technology is a word used to describe something that doesn’t work yet.” I saw this idea as an opportunity to create a life-long career and have built my entire business around this quote from Douglas Adams, the author of “The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy.” Almost everything we use today is “technology” of some sort — but we don’t think of it that way when it integrates seamlessly into our lives.
What was your biggest challenge starting in business? How did you overcome it? Luke Freiler: We started our product-testing business right as the internet bubble was bursting in the early 2000s. It’s hard to imagine a worse time, as trust in technology was at an all-time low. There we were, trying to solve problems that many companies didn’t even know they had.
Funding wasn’t an option, but we decided to stick it out anyway. If we weren’t young bachelors at the time, I doubt that it would have turned out as it did. We lived as cheaply as possible, kept getting our name out there, and eventually, struck a deal with a major tech company that financed our entire first year. It paid to be aspirational, and our perseverance won out in the end.
What’s the biggest common leadership mistake? Luke Freiler: I see so many leaders stuck in this paradox where they can’t learn from their mistakes — because they can’t admit that they made them in the first place. Too many people at the top think that they need to keep up the appearance of being perfectly informed at all times to justify and maintain their position.
Admitting your mistakes gives you social currency with the person listening on the other side. It’s also a learning opportunity that can be extremely valuable on a personal, team, and company level.
How do you evaluate a good business deal? Luke Freiler: As we bring new talent onto our leadership team, I’m continually benefiting from the wisdom of their diverse experiences. I recently picked up a new way of thinking from our vice president of sales that stuck with me: A good business deal happens when there are clear, mutual benefits for both parties.
When evaluating a potential deal, we go through an exercise of assigning figurative points to each element of the deal. We assign a point in one column if it’s something our customers want and a point in another column if it’s something we want. If the points aren’t balanced on both sides, the deal won’t happen. It’s about being symbiotic partners, not parasites and hosts.
Which single habit gives you 80 percent of your results? Luke Freiler: Being transparent with my team is a key part of my leadership style that noticeably impacts their success and performance. Sharing details that I might have otherwise kept to myself as a CEO empowers them to approach roadblocks with a broader perspective. When they can get into my frame of mind, they can anticipate what I’ll ask before they approach me with problems and potential solutions. This makes problem-solving faster and keeps the team in sync.
What are you working on right now? Luke Freiler: The explosion of sophisticated technology and mass adoption means there are exponential problems to solve. Right now, I’m focused on driving the next generation of customer testing to help new companies create tech products that align with their customers’ needs. There are many nuances to solving these challenges, and you discover a new angle every day. It’s hard work, but it’s also incredibly fun.
What do you want to be known for, or what do you want your legacy to be? Luke Freiler: Our company is evangelizing the idea of bringing customers into the development process earlier and more often to help shape the products they use. Building a framework for co-creation and making tools readily available create a path to collectively produce more meaningful technology. It’s the guiding principle behind everything we do.

1. “Southern Charm” star Shep Rosewon’t back down after mocking a woman for collecting cans on the streets of New York. On Monday night, Rose posted a video making fun of a woman sitting on the street next to several trash bags filled with cans. Although the woman covered her face with her hands, he recorded her anyway and can be heard saying: “Look at me. Nice cans! I mean, the cans you have!” He captioned his Instagram story, “I love double entendres. Yes she was camera shy. But she laughed.”After Rose shared the video, social media erupted with backlash.
One Twitter user screen-recorded the video and posted itto emphasize disappointment in Rose’s behavior, writing: “Is this Southern Charm? … Cheap way to get ‘laughs’ from followers but there is nothing funny about homelessness. I’m DONE w/ him.”
Rose responded to the fan in her Twitter comments by saying: “Omg. I offended you! Ok. Here’s the plan, sensitivity training 5 times a week. Then intensive therapy (hot yoga?) followed by a public flogging in the town square. Then i move to Siberia and live in an igloo for 4 months. At this point. I think I’ll be cleansed of your disapproval.”
To another commenter who expressed upset, Rose, unbothered, wrote on Twitter, “Unfollow then. No big deal.” Rose also refused to clarify what he considered comedic about the situation. “Doesn’t matter. You follow me. You can easily get out of the situation. It’s not a binding contract. I am not responsible for your happiness. If i miss the mark in your mind just keep scrolling,” he said.
Bravo declined to comment.
2. Cameron Diaz truly took the plunge when she married Benji Madden. In a rare interview, Diaz spoke to InStyle about her very private marriage to the Good Charlotte rocker. “I don’t know if I was ready [when I got married], but I knew Benji was special. He’s just a good man,” she told the magazine of their 2015 nuptials. “There’s no bulls–t. It’s really refreshing. I’m really grateful for him. I like doing my own thing.” Diaz, 46, also said her marriage to Madden was “the best thing” to ever happen to her. “My husband’s the best. He’s the greatest human being, and he’s my great partner,” she shared. “Marriage is certainly hard, and it’s a lot of work. You need somebody who’s willing to do the work with you, because there’s no 60-40 in marriage. It’s 50-50, period. All the time.” The former actress — she officially announced her retirement from Hollywood in March 2018 — previously said she waited until 41 to get married because she hadn’t found the right person.“I think it’s a matter of I just hadn’t met my husband, you know? I had boyfriends before. And there’s a really, really distinct difference between husbands and boyfriends,” Diaz told pal Gwyneth Paltrow at a live event. “And I have a husband who is just my partner in life and in everything. Talk about two very different people! We are so different from one another, but we share the same values — we’re totally two peas in a pod. We are both just weird enough for each other.”
3. Jeff Bezos ditched last week’s pretentious Google Camp in Italy to meet girlfriend Lauren Sanchez’s parents, but the couple has apparently now jetted off to Europe to party with the elite.Billionaire Dreamworks founder David Geffen — who attended Google Camp, even giving Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom a rideon his $400 million yacht — posted a group photo to Instagram Tuesday morning that included both Bezos and Sanchez aboard the massive boat. “Having a great time in the Balearics,” Geffen captioned the picture, taken off the coast of eastern Spain. Also in the photo were Joshua Kushner and supermodel wife Karlie Kloss, ex-Goldman Sachs CEO Lloyd Blankfein, agent Michael Kives and lawyer Lydia Gray Kives, and entrepreneur and oil heir Mikey Hess, who is reportedly engaged to Meghan Markle’s designer pal Misha Nonoo. Megayachts like Geffen’s — plus scores of private jets and gas-guzzling SUVs and sports cars — caused quite a stir at the three-day Google Camp, which was focused on climate change. Last week, instead of heading to the extravagant summit with the likes of Prince Harry and Oprah Winfrey, the Amazon honcho, 55, met Sanchez’s parents, Eleanor and Ray Sanchez. A few days later, he joined Sanchez, 58, as her ex Tony Gonzalez, who is the father of her 18-year-old son Nikko Gonzalez, got inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame in Ohio.
4. One of the few women to hold an executive post at Tinder is suing parent companies IAC and Match Group as well as former CEO Greg Blatt for wrongful termination. Rosette Pambakian, Tinder's former Head of Communications, claims that Blatt barged into a hotel room after a 2016 holiday party and began 'forcibly groping [her] breasts and upper thighs, and kissing her shoulders, neck and chest.' This all happened 'without [her] consent' according to the lawsuit She states in the court filing, which was obtained by DailyMail.com, that she had been hiding from Blatt at the time of the alleged assault, retreating to the room after he said: 'I get hard every time I look at you. Let's get out of here.' Pambakian claims Blatt did apologize, but that her complaint was never fully investigated despite the fact that there were three witnesses present, including his executive assistant. She also notes that one day after Tinder's current CEO Sean Rad reported her allegations to executive at IAC and Match Group, 'Blatt exercised approximately 5 million stock options in Match Group, realizing over $44 million in value.' Pambakian claims that for the next two years she was 'marginalized, subject to additional harassing, offensive, and insulting behavior, put on administrative leave, publicly accused of consenting to her attacker’s advances, and finally, wrongfully terminated by Defendants' this past December.
The company would not comment on this new filing, and instead referred back to a previous statement that addressed these allegations.
'The Match Group Board – with the assistance of experienced outside counsel from two nationally recognized law firms – promptly conducted a careful and thorough investigation under the direction of independent Board members, concluded, among other things, that there was no violation of law or company policy, and took appropriate action.'
Pambakian and other Tinder executives sued Match and IAC seeking $2 billion a year ago for allegedly bilking them by manipulating financial information to create a lowball estimate of Tinder's value.
She also detailed the alleged assault in that filing, which the company stated was 'meritless.'
The suit states that she informed 'Blatt and Chief Human Resources Officer, Ms. Nelson, about the reporter’s inquiry' into the allegations, and that her 'own perpetrator' told her to instead 'explain the ways Tinder combats sexual harassment, and to throw the reporter off the story.'
Blatt was later asked to resign his post because of the assault according to Pambakian, who says that Blatt told her she would need to 'sign something' in order for him to be able to stay in his position.
At the time, she had just refused to sign a non-disclosure agreement.
She was placed on leave in August 2018 after she and other employees filed their lawsuit, and terminated on December 18 via email.
'Upon information and belief, Defendants terminated Plaintiff in retaliation for speaking out against Defendant Blatt for his sexual misconduct and for participating in a lawsuit against the Company Defendants related to her stock options,' states the filing.
'As a result of these actions, Plaintiff was forced to surrender millions of dollars in equity granted to her as compensation for her work as an executive at Tinder.'
Pambakian is seeking damages to be determined at trial for eight causes of action, including: Negligence, Intentional Infliction of Emotional Distress, Sexual Battery, Gender Violence, Ralph Act Violation, Negligent Misrepresentation, Wrongful Termination and Retaliation for Engaging in Protected Activity.
5. Tom Brady just finished his 20th Patriots training camp. The 42-year-old quarterback is taking this time to get his head back in the game while on a remote island in the Bahamas at a luxurious beach house with a fully-equipped gym and a practicing field. During his interview with Men's Health magazine, he spoke about getting ready for the next season, what he keeps in his fridge, and his pliability-focused workout routine.
Brady says he always starts with the massage table to get his muscles going for his workout. But while on the road, he never leaves home without his pliability roller.
'I use it always before my workouts—which is critical—and then always right after,' he said.
Then, he heads on over to the resistance bands and does drills such as squats, lunges, and some planks.
During his workout, he wore a shirt that said 'pliability' which he also said he 'does a lot of.'
The 16-time division champion says he tries to get in four to five workouts a week.
His favorite exercise? The butt blaster 'because it blasts my butt' and went on to say that he enjoys working out his legs. His glutes are his 'engine' which he adds he 'needs more of.'

UPDATE: Is the Switch really any good? #nintendoswitch #gaming #sony #playstation #ps4 #gamers A few days and a few games worth of experience on the Switch Chipz is back at it with another post!
