Hi,
Thank you for the response to my previous query.
I was thinking, do you think there should have been a moment in Ultimate Alien, when Ben gets to call out Gwen and Kevin for their lack of support in regards to his relationship with Julie, because I feel he should have called them out.
On a separate note, do you think Gwen and Kevin will drive Kai away if they find out about the stuff she subjected Ben to.
I would like your thoughts on this.
I've said this before but I'll say it again: I really think the show (especially by Ultimate Alien) didn't give Ben the opportunity to speak up for himself or in his own defense a lot of the time for the sake of creating conflict. Which sucks, because it was also done to try to make him "the bad guy" in those conflicts, even when illogically. "Eye of the Beholder" gave us some great introspection on his part, and I think he should have been given a chance to talk more often.
As for Kai, I'd hope so. I've probably complained about this before too lol but I think it's strange that practically all of the other characters either take her side or turn a blind eye to her behaviour. Ester would rather take her side despite having known her for all of five minutes, and Rook (whether cause he's an alien or just annoyed at their back and forth remarks) doesn't want to get involved at all. Gwen and Kevin previously took Ben's ex girlfriend's side over his, but I assume since Julie wasn't nearly as borderline abusive as Kai it would be different it they witnessed the audacity of Kai Green.
And I mean, Gwen didn't really appreciate what she said when they were ten year olds, so yeah.

Fandom Racism
Just posted on r/Ben10 in a thread about Washington being a plumber about how I wished the plumbers especially the OS versions were shown in a more critical light. The fact that Wes, Kai’s grandfather, was a member of the group who made their base out of a mountain that was stolen from indigenous people raises some eyebrows. Same with Washington who was a corrupt individual and slave owner. I got hit with downvotes and one person who made a lot of pro Trump, transphobic and even pro Christopher Columbus posts on r/conservative told me “welcome to humanity, you shouldn’t be surprised at corruption, that was normal for the time”. God I hate the anti woke Mcu fanboys who watch the show only for it having no queer characters. Same with anti woke anime/manga fans. Y’all do realize the ending of War of The Worlds is the same as Change your Mind from SU. And Dwayne McDuffie was known for pushing for more diversity in superhero media and wrote several stories in UAF that tackled political subjects. Glad the tumblr fandom is better when it comes to this.

You may remember the story of the Russian 35th army I’ve shared two days ago with my audience describing the sorry state of the army’s supply in Izyum, Ukraine. The story was posted by a Russian (LPR) militia blogger “Murz” and it caused quite a resonance among the Russian war correspondents and bloggers who en-masse attacked said Murz for his revelations.
Well, Murz did not stop there, and this morning shared another long livejournal post where not only he attacked his own attackers but also shared some more interesting details about the mobilization process in Donbas, going over the terrible preparation of Russian airforce along the way…
This is an excerpt from a longer post – I did not include sections of his verbal altercations with other Russian reporters – they wouldn’t make much sense.
But the juicy part is indeed below:
…First of all, both the People’s Militia of LPR, and the People’s Militia of DPR, if we take their composition as of 24 February, truly most of them have died in the first weeks, if not days of the war.
They died exactly due to reasons I’ve been describing all these years, which are spoken about in the KCPN* report and a lot of other similar documents written by the late “Dobry” during his service in LPR, both in collaboration with me and akela2017, and written separately.
Poor training,
poor equipment,
shoddy supply
and a shoddy quality
of the most “imported” advisors, who systematically reduce the combat readiness of the troops rather than increasing it…

The only thing worse than defending with such a “background” is advancing.
Which is exactly what was done.
The vast majority of the people who are currently on the frontline in the infantry companies are the people who returned to service or got there for the first time after the 24 February, or as part of the February “mobilization”.
Most of our “old” infantry, those who had at least some service experience, who were at least one bit ready for what was coming, are already down in graves and hospitals.
Currently, in the brigades of the people’s militia, companies the size of a squad are filled with “mobs”. These companies are commanded by sergeants, if not privates if we look at their ranks at the start of the special military operation.
Secondly, the “Syrian adventure” in no way, and I mean in no way at all helped to try out the new “high-tech” weapon types, since the difference between using them on ISIL-partisans and targets at the training grounds is practically non-existent – both cannot interfere with their application.
Meaning that the Su-34 with its “latest aiming and navigation system” which if put simply calculates the fall trajectory of a cheap unguided bomb and accordingly gives the necessary dropping point allowing you to hit more or less where you need to, without all these “bourgeois” frills with guided munitions, in exactly the same way it throws these “iron blocks” both at training ground targets and the “Basmachi*” – Basmachi cannot physically reach them with their MANPADS.
(*Basmachi – colloquial name for poorly equipped, “wild” peoples)
However, when the Su-34 is flying to bomb Ukrainians, who have a fully-fledged anti-air defense… UAF work on it from a fully-fledged air-defiance system which has a totally different reach in terms of height and range.
After a few attempts to play with such “high technologies” the Su-34’s started to rapidly run out and our aviation moved to the tactic of “high-precision weaponry”.
Su-25 fighters and helicopters, as to avoid entering the strike zone of UAF air-defense systems, worked at the enemy with volleys of uncontrolled rockets from a distance and retreated.
The surrounding yards around the same 29th checkpoint suffered from this extensively, while the enemy… well, perhaps they had a laugh, if noticed at all with our artillery firing in the background.
Such is the “high-tech”.
The latest Ka-52 are hammering from distance the strong fortifications with small caliber analogues of “GRAD” MLRS.
Extremely expensive, but a completely useless circus.
When a couple of Ka-52 and Mi-28 attempted precision striking, at least with some benefit, and the daredevil pilots risked going straight to the target to and fire aimed strikes, it became apparent it was just a pair of them, both ordered for a change from building Putin’s and Medvedev’s palaces, and the seasonal replacement of Moscow’s street tiles.
And the machines ended up under fire of Ukrainian MANPADS.
Very often they were taken down.
Surrounding the enemy as a group of eight helis and firing at the target continuously so the enemy MANPADS could even raise their heads – it’s a completely different story.
Especially if the MANPADS are pinned to the ground with our artillery on the heli’s approach.
You can fight that way.
That’s roughly how they are trying to fight now, realising that just with a couple of helicopters flying without coordination with ground troops you cannot solve any matter.
But those who perished in February, March and April cannot be brought back.
Syria didn’t help, the lessons were not learned. Likewise, the “calibration of the rears” had no influence since it was decided to not touch logistics and civilian infrastructure.
So basically, endless billions of dollars were thrown away.
Especially amusing is wording of “The brazen hohols were intercepted during the preparation of an offensive *on Russia* and were properly smashed as a result of the special operation”.
This is the best, five stars.
So, following the events.
February. Mobilization is taking place in LPR and DPR. After having a good laugh at the Ukrainians who at least somewhat trained their reserves (“Wooden assault rifles! Ha-ha-ha!”), in the Republics they are swooping everyone up, equipping them with Mosin-Nagant rifles, not providing them with any armored vests, medicines, and throwing them into the wintery fields without training.
The “luckiest” were forbidden from starting fires so “the Ukrainians couldn’t shell with artillery”.
How are you going to warm yourself in an empty field – your problem.
Of course, the frostbitten toes were amputated not from Zagatin* and his son (who is now 15 I think – this is important).

What is the need for this insane, wild, terrible, I don’t know what else to call it, a completely unprepared mobilisation?
It is to fill with “mobs” the calm sections of the frontline, and throw the LPR People’s Militia “contractors”, read more or less trained troops, to advance on Ukrainians.
To achieve at least an equal number of attackers and defenders.
What is the need for this attack which locks the most trained, the most experienced UAF forces in Donbas? After all, the chance of a decisive success of such operation, if done on its own, is laughable.
Of course, it is necessary so that the best units of UAF could not be transferred to defend the advance of RF. Thus, the Donbas militias and “mobs” with their own blood are buying the opportunity of a decisive success of RF AF in Kyiv, Chernihiv, Kharkiv.
And they are doing it, dying in hundreds and thousands, since they realize their brothers-in-arms are advancing.
After all, the guys came to our rescue, we need to strike together with them!
What happens next?
The military and political command of RF uselessly squanders all the initial successes in Kyiv, Chernihiv and Kharkiv, paid first and foremost with blood of Donbas infantry and “mobs”, thrown to attack the UAF. RF AF are losing irreversibly around half a thousand of tanks, mainly the latest models, and a large part of the available BMP-3 fleet.
A monstrous amount of expensive special equipment, including communications and air defense systems.
Three months have passed, and on average the RF AF are fighting with the same armored equipment as UAF, if not worse.
Mainly – the same BMP-1 and BMP-2 as Ukrainians have, and old versions of T-72/T-80’s against T-64. However, where Ukrainians have all their armored vehicles, including such old rubbish like BRDM-2 equipped with closed radio comms and modern navigation systems, if we have any radio stations on tanks and BTR’s at all, these are R-123’s and R-173’s, which are similar but with open channels.
So the military and political authorities of RF did not just throw the Donbas men into a meat grinder in February-March, but it also DID IT SENSELESSLY, shitting away all the opportunities it tried to create for itself…

After two years I am finally roasting Ultimate Kevin 😁
I told myself I wasn't gonna talk about this terrible excuse of a story but here we are! Correct me if I get things wrong because I refuse to subject myself to another rewatch of this garbage! 😤😤😤😤
When we last left off at the end of Aggregor plot, Kevin had just finished saving everybody's asses by kicking Aggregor's ass! Finally after being just the bad beast boyfriend Kevin gets the chance to take out a major villain!
Soooo....where are all the party balloons and cake?? Hey what do you meant the show's not over yet? There's still more?
Wait what is this...
Oh no...OH NO don't you dare don't you DARE bring that back I just know y'all gonna screw it up!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! JOAN RIVERS!
And it all goes downhill from there.
Kevin then goes mad with power and the rest of the season is spent chasing him down. He goes on a rampage first attacking anyone who ever did him wrong but then quickly turning his sights to innocents. Sure it's just Aggregor but this time it's KEVIN!! Their OWN FRIEND!! DUN DUN DUUUUUUUUUUMB~
Wouldn't it make a bit more sense to have Darkstar be the Villain on a power rush since AF did build him up as a heavy-hitter? No wait he's on a date with his bodypillow nevermind! -_-
So after a series of plans to contain Kevin fall because the plot says, Ben comes to the conclusion that he may have to do the unthinkable. Gwen disagrees and they get into a fight. Ben wins and goes to execute Kevin while Gwen is forced to seek help elsewhere. So they go on a wild goose chase again, eventually trapping Kevin at a base where ECHO ECHO defeats Kevin hook him on a machine suck out the power restoring it to the Aggregor and Kevin's victims and they all go out for smoothies.
Okay maybe i should have watched the episode one more time but still it's just a retread of Aggregor. Only much more frustrating.
I have nothing positive thing to say about this storyline. Not a single one! It should have ended with Kevin defeating Aggregor WITHOUT going off the rails to show just how far he'd come from the vicious powerhungry brat he started out in the beginning. He learned self control AND we'd see someone else taking out the arc villain for a change! Great concept to explore!
INSTEAD we have to sit through yet another arc chasing behind a maddened Osmosian! Conveniently taking out other heroes or simply not contacting Osmo V for help so that ONLY BEN could save the day! Even if it flanderizes him into an unlikable strawman. Even if it prevents Gwen from having her big moment of saving Kevin on her terms effectively proving both Ben and Max WRONG, that love can overcome problems. That's a hopeful message to teach your audience!
We can't risk anyone upstaging Ben! We can't have him be challenged. Nope! Everything's gotta be BEN BEN BEN!!

Kevin gets no gratitude sacrificing his sanity&relationships for the sake of the universe. Not a single fucking Thank You!! What was supposed to be his biggest moment becomes a tragedy because of course UA has to drag the darkness out that much more. Gwen has to seek help on her own while Ben goes around torturing people and y'all wonder why i prefer OV Ben lmao How DARE you insinuate that problems can be solved without violence?! For all the problems that show has at least the Rooters Arc didn't have Ben forced to kill his own friend!!
But hey everyone goes out for smoothies! Ben & Max don't face any real consequences! Oh and uh Kevin doesn't go to therapy or apologise to the people he hurt during his rampage. Gwen definitely won't think of leaving the because she realizes no one actually cares about her at all and the stress of having to fight her own love AND her own cousin is too much! No regrets or future flare ups? Nope no emotional fallout here!
Overall it's a shitty story that to me is THE lowest point of the franchise.
What's sad about this is that this storyline could've had TRUE ABD HONEST potential narrative & emotionally satisfying! Besides why even use Ben as the one to kill Kevin when you already have a guy to fill that role?

An early chance to bring back characters from the OG series and cause a good amount of conflict without making anyone OOC. Lt. Steel haven't seen Kevin's good side. Ben has. Steel would push Ben to make the "hard" choice, leaving him at a loss on what to do. Should he try making the hard choice ot go with his gut and stick by his friend? See that makes OUR HERO actually sympathetic instead of a douche nozzle! Ben and Gwen saving Kevin in non-violent way proves Steele and Max wrong. But again you had to make Ben a Strawman and Gwen in the wrong for suggesting such. Ben and Gwen vouche that the only reason Kevin acted like that was because he risked his life to save everyone asses. Kevin could work on his personal problems and make peace with his oast which in turn allows him to control his powers. Ben realizes he doesn't HAVE to make "the hard choice" to suit someone else because it's HIS CHOICE that what matters and he chooses to save Kevin!

Also there was some guy named Harvey who is actually Kevin's stepdad because we can't introduce anyone on his Osmosian side to help and he ain't did shit. Oh and Cooper becomes a blond recolor because FAT BAAAAAD! 🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦🤦
This all I have to say about it. I refuse to give it another go. The fact this story was planned since Alien Force with a decidedly sadder yet fairly realistic outcome shows that sometimes the best laid plans...are better left to the cutting room.

If Ben 10 writers invaded Jora
She would serve no purpose in the story other than Obligatory Love Interest
Her other relationships like with her family and my other OCs gets no focus
Really be a Token Girl this time
Unnecessarily mean and envious of Julie
Her other traits like conducting experiments, costume designing, and hiking
Her powers are incredibly weak despite being pushed in the narrative as strong
She wouldn't have any impressive solo feats; she can't take down a main villain
Can't get a power boost or time travel or else she face serious drawbacks
Physical ailment is suddenly cured; can take her gloves off at any time
Or she would be a badly handled example of disability rep
Her romance with Ben gets little focus because it's not as dramatic as the White Couple
All of a sudden she's reduced to the role of damsel in distress
ALIENS! IT WAS ALIENS THAT CAUSED HER POWERS!

(Just an fyi, this is @Ben10memelord. Tumblr won't let me ask stuff on my other blog for some reason) Anyway, I noticed on your blog that you don't really like Ben 10 alien force or Ultimate Alien. Why is that? (no hate, just curious)
Most of my reasons you can find on my main blog @gritsandbrits (tagged as either Ben 10 critical or anti uaf) but to keep things short I mainly don't like how the show handled certain plot points - the Ultimate Kevin and Ledgerdomain comes to mind - and handling of POC and female characters.
I also feel like the characters were sorta bland in personality and design. Gwen became more of a Token Girl (esp. with the change in color of her magic), Ben doesn't really seem to a consistent - and fun - personality, and Kevin was just the Bad Boy version of Beast Boy with an awkwardly-executed redemption. Plus, considering the term Alien Force you'd think they'd focus on the new characters or expand the roster. But nope! They're canon fodder! Or if you're a girl you'd be involve in romantic drama!
AF made everything attach to aliens or space. Genuine magic? Nope that's not real anymore; you're an Anodite Gwen!! Paranormal and dragons? No these are all aliens too. Mutants? Nope! Aliens!!! Which erased a lot of the variety the original had, and what OV and the Reboot brought back.
Lastly there are a certain subgroup of fans who think AF & UA were absolutely perfect and craps on Omniverse and the reboot way too much but refuses to acknowledge valid criticisms towards UAF. Particularly the ones on Reddit & YT. 😒
But you know what? Even with UAF's flaws there ARE concepts I really liked and at least the B10 fandom here are pretty chill and don't flip their shit every time someone points out something negative in AF or positive in OV/Reboot & vice versa. 😊😊😊

I think realized another problem with Gwevin as a ship. This pairing does nothing for Gwen. It doesn't really affect her positively. She's just used as a tool for Kevin's development. This whole entire pairing is solely about Kevin and how it affects him as a character. It's the main catalyst to Kevin's reformation while Gwen is stripped of all her common sense to build up Kevin as good guy. What do you think? Do you agree?
Yes, I agree, but that’s honestly the least of Gwevin’s problems. Much bigger ones include the fact that Gwen and Kevin literally shared no connection in the OS which makes the choice to make them a ship in every other incarnation baffling, the ship is cliche (good girl + bad boy, how original) and heteronormative (let’s be real: the chemistry between them is extremely lacking compared to Ben/Kevin and Gwen/Charmcaster), and it is annoyingly forced down viewers’ throats at every opportunity, starting from when it began in just Alien Force’s first episode, which is supposed to be 5 years after either of them had seen each other and, as I said before, never gave much of a shit about each other. But suddenly Kevin will follow Gwen anywhere and Gwen is bugging him about asking her out. What the fuck?
But to be perfectly honest, it was those HORRIBLE Ultimate Kevin episodes from Ultimate Alien that truly turned Gwevin into a big “Nope!” ship. They had Kevin metaphorically sexual assault Gwen while under the influence, *never* apologize for it afterward once he is returned to normal (though notice that he apologized to Ben, once again showing where the chemistry really is), and throughout the whole thing Gwen is literally giving the same kinds of excuses that abused girlfriends would give (“he only hurts me when he drinks, he’s a good guy otherwise!”). How the Hell am I supposed to get behind the ship when you frame it like that!?
Gwen and Kevin can be great characters on their own, but they’re garbage together.

Clarification about Ben 10 UAF
The essay “Ben 10 Ultimate Alien Force is misogynist and anti-feminist, and here’s the proof” was not written by me. Its authorship is of Alex Pan, a journalist. My name is Christiane Amelia Neves, feminist, student, and a former Ben 10 fan. “Former” due to the damage Dwayne McDuffie and his sexist, misogynist friend Matt Wayne did to the saga.
I was informed by a nice profile that a blog here on Tumblr is questioning the essay. As I’m not the author, I cannot be offended by someone questioning it. However, as a woman and feminist, I regret there are women who supports TV shows that degrade women. I understand that Ben 10 marked our childhoods, but it’s exactly because I love the ORIGINAL series that I hope for the saga maintains its quality. Unfortunately, McDuffie and Wayne stuffed UAF with misogyny and gender violence. The essay points the misogynist cases, the episodes they happen, and makes comparisions with similar situations in real life. For instance, Kevin beating Gwen and getting unpunished because he was under the influence of “energy” is similar to an alcoholic/drug addicted husband who beats his wife and alleges he cannot be punnished. Alcohol, drugs, and energy addiction are not excuses for beating women. The misogynists hide their hate behind addictions to get unpunished. Ultimate Alien praises this kind of men, and many fans, instead of criticizing it, defend the misogynist message spread by the series.
It is sad that some women, in the name of the love for a saga, deny their own sex and put themselves against women rights. Real Ben 10 women fans should take ORIGINAL Gwen as an example of women empowerement and protest against the changes made by McDuffie and Wayne. Do you really think being beaten by men is what women deserves? Do you think beauty gives men permission to beat women? If so, I recommend a movie called “Beauty and the Beast” (Disney, 1991), so you can learn a lot about what beauty means and how women deserves to be treated.
I deeply regret when I see women putting themselves against women and alonside misogynists. Feminism exists to protect women from violence and prejudice. I don’t hate men, I know that there are good men and bad man, as there are good women and bad women. But some of the bad men likes to victimize themselves online to convince some women to stand against feminism, so they can keep sexism and misogyny alive (as they did in a post in the Brazilian version of Ben 10 Wikia). Feminism is not about hating men, it is about fighting for women to be respected.
Ben 10 UAF is indeed a sexist, misogynist universe. Matt Wayne loves treating Gwen like trash in the episodes he writes. It is very common a writter or director to get revenge from characters or actresses he dislikes. Wayne hates the empowered Gwen from the original series and made her a weak rogue’s girlfriend to spread his misogynist values that “women must be below men.” He did it for Gwen to be below Kevin and Ben, as the original saga has feminist values and put Ben and Gwen alongside in importance. The team McDuffie made for UAF is mainly male, and there are many misogynist figures (like Wayne). Even women, as Charlotte Fullerton, are obligated to write sexist episodes.
I know Cartoon Network poses as a “progressive” enterprise. If it is so, it should apologize with women imediately. I know the U.S.A. are taking fight against misogyny seriously, and soon I will see UAF being “cancelled” for its misogynist message. Feminism will keep existing to help women, independently if some women sells themselves for a fake respect from misogynists. And I, as a true feminist, will keep denouncing sexism and misogyny. Alex Pan did very well in denouncing it on the essay. Congrats to Alex Pan!!!!

Charmcaster and Ken are both there for Verdona’s introduction. Neither is impressed.

Entire breather episode that’s just Manny, Helen, Ben, and Gwen battling each other for Top Trainer position (Manny wins out and is incredibly smug about it)

Albedo: Benjamin if there was justice in this world you would never had gotten that watch
Azmuth: True, he really wastes my creation sometimes
Albedo: I will kill you myself, old man.

Mike and Elena are introduced together in Alien Swarm, trying to get shit done about the whole ‘Elena’s dad is missing’ thing
(Mike ‘I wanna kidnap this girl so step one is start a cult’ Morningstar: We break into the base and hold them hostage until they agree to actually help
Elena ‘I have to talk to an old friend so step one is get into black market tech dealing’ Validus: I like the way you think)

Kevin doesn’t turn into a chimera during OS so the shit in AF season 3 makes him a proper chimera instead of a matter one and everyone has a Crisis for the rest of the season

Kevin never left Earth so nobody knows Argit and when he eventually shows up for Plot Reasons he and Kevin know each other for like ten minutes before Manny starts humming ‘Til There Was You’ under his breath every time they so much as look at each other
Kevin is not impressed

Argit gets into necromancy because Kevin’s powers make him a medical disaster and Charmcaster immediately decides he is now one of her Favorites for anti-Hex reasons

Also Hex continues to be a recurring villain, mostly for Gwen but sometimes also for Charm, because fuck OG!Hex
~
Everybody above the age of 16/17 wants to lock Max somewhere and never let him out because who the fuck even thinks of getting kids involved in this shit
~
Breather episode that is Cooper and Alan going to Kevin and Ben respectively for help asking the other out, to hilarious ends
~
Episode where everybody teams up to fight off an invasion attempt without Kevin’s help or knowledge because he has a Very Big Deal contest that day and they don’t want to have that ruined for him
~
Ken is home for Sunny’s episode too and this close to stealing his sister and his cousin and just moving them to a whole different fucking family. Kevin will 100% help.

More proof that Argit's species are horny bastards
Look at Pierce Wheels!
His very last scene in the series (outside of flashbacks) is him trying to get his horny on with a girl.
He's the only Plumber's Kid shown with an interest in girls, dating, and ahem "physical activities" and he's the only one who's Half Space Rat
Coincidence? I think NOT!

(Btw Is it just me or was Pierce's murder the most Anti-Climatic death in history?

Hahaha yeah I almost think pierce didn’t die in that scene, like I wouldn’t be surprised if he just showed back up in omniverse.
That being said it would make Helen’s grieving process easier to have already lost him once, got reunited and was able to say all the things she wanted to say and ask for advice one last time, and then lose him permanently. But it would be pretty bittersweet. They’d have to discuss the effects that it had on her, and uaf just didn’t have time and omniverse takes a tactless philosophy to serious subjects.
