I don't think we talk about xiyao exes to lovers enough. I understand that in canon the "breakup" ended with death and imo it was never going to end any other way (I have a lot of feelings about how jgy is doomed from the start) but even in aus where survival is an option I barely ever see their full potential realized. The fact that there is this heartbreaking gap that is between them now, and yet that, despite it all, they can't stop loving each other. When you have drama this good, why is the conflict relegated to outside threats and we end up with little to no exploration of internal strife, of the fact that these guys have been living a domestic lie for a decade (I cannot stress this enough, the amount of parralels between xiyao and jgy's marriage to qin su are staggering.)
And let me be clear I will NEVER begrudge anyone their hurt/comfort and wanting their faves who are denied happiness and peace at every turn to find it. god knows I need that sometimes. Or even the less healthy but so emotionally devastating fics where the caring isn't good, and it doesn't fix anything- might only make things worse, actually- and xichen ends up recreating his father's fate. I love all of those things. But. Man. This divorce was over 11 years in the making it should take AT LEAST that long to resolve. What do you do when the person you trusted the most lied to you for years? What do you do when the only person who's ever believed in you loses that faith so completely they'd hurt you over a lie without hesitation? I need me some xiyao who try to get over each other for 20 years and fail. I need them to meet after not seeing each other for years and have it hurt like no time has passed at all. I need arguments where no one raises their voice but that feel like a screaming match anyway. Do you see my vision?? Do you see what we could have?
(if fics that do exacly this are out there, recs are of course welcome)
Can I just say, why is there such a focus on women being abused sexually for power in LO?
It’s horrible!
It’s implied Hera used her body to get close to Kronos
Demeter had sex with Zeus because she believed she’d marry him and be queen only to get tossed aside immediately.
(Sex by coercion is still assault I can’t believe I even have to say this)
Persephone gets sexually assaulted by Apollo.
And like why is SA being used as a way to create drama?!
Also double standards be like ‘ohh poor Persephone’ and ‘Demeter deserved it if she’s stupid enough to believe Hades would say that’
This fandom is so gross it’s not funny.
What do you mean a woman deserves to get assaulted because she’s stupid?!
Also considering Hades treatment of Demeter it’s not even far fetched for Demeter to think this!
Stop livin behind the bubble of hades is perfect! He isn’t!
Also can we talk about how Zeus and Metis’s fling thing mentioned is predatory because Zeus is younger than Hades (who’s 19 at the time of the war) and Poseidon who’s younger than Hades?
Zeus would be 15-17.
So why tf is that his fling with Metis is played off as a joke?!
I’m so mad about this. Like harhar RS we get it ‘Zeus is manwhore’ BUT THINK ABOUT THE IMPLICATIONS
The way RS portrays SA as a joke or irrelevant until it drives drama and no other thing is GROSS
tapping back into my rina obsession for 5 minutes just to say that irl drama played no role in your ship not being endgame because 1). the first eps of s2 (when rini evidently were abt to die a slow, painful death) were filmed at the beginning of 2020 literally a whole year before driver’s license drama
and 2). if the writers *really* wanted to, they could’ve easily delena-ed them and made them endgame regardless of the actors’ irl relationship + they could’ve easily written nini off (like they wrote elena off when nina wanted to leave) and still have had her and ricky do long distance for real this time or whatever—
but they didn’t because as explicitly stated by the writer, he completely changed the direction of the show once he was moved by rina’s chemistry in 1x05/6
also if this scene, filmed in s1, wasn’t the biggest foreshadowing ever that a lot of y’all obtusely ignored, then idk what else to say
Milkvans calling ppl ableist for having the opinion that maybe a 13 year old shouldn't be dating/in a very codependent relationship, when said child spent TWELVE YEARS OF THEIR LIFE (so that's 92% of their life) in a lab as an experiment, being controlled by a man!!
This pairing, if you actually step back and think about it if it happened in real life, is a bit messed up.
If the Duffer Bros truly wanted them to be endgame and make it make SENSE, it would've been a slow burn relationship, with El slowly discovering herself, her identity, her likes and dislikes, and THEN becoming self aware of how her feelings from Mike has grown from friendship and being thankful he saved her, to something more as she MATURES. Not being kissed as a 12 year old 1 week after she escaped from being a prisoner/experiment in a lab, and is desperate for safety and human affection which she's literally never had before.
just rewatched dear billy for the first time in over a year since i first watched it and
ignoring all my Feelings, it just reminded me of how cruel of an ending she got this season.
she tried SO hard to live. she'd been suicidal for the past few months and then, when she can die, is likely to die, and she fights with everything she has not to because she doesn't want to die.
and yet, at the end of the season, she winds up in a coma with her arms and legs broken.
she realized she didn't want to die and tried so hard to live and then she just.
Lore Olympus Apollo redesign and his outfit for his coronation as an Olympian 👑
Still not over how Rachel robbed us of what could have been the best Apollo design ever due to her beautiful art style, but instead she decided to be "subversive" and gave us... that thing
i have a lot of issues with rachel smythe's writing in general, and i don't think a proper outline would make her shakespeare or anything, but like. half of lore olympus's story issues are the result of rs clearly making shit up as she goes along. a lot of the general weirdness and disjointed vibe of lo is the result of the author not really knowing whats going to happen next, and it could have been solved had rachel just sat down and planned what she wanted her comic to be and where she wanted the story and the characters to go. if not from the beginning than at least when she made the switch from canvas to webtoon original.
when LO fans compare pictures of family members and are like "They look so much like each other 🥰🥰🥰" besties it's because the artist can only draw 2 or 3 faces
Edit just to clear up my opinion: I know this is something a lot of artists do or have trouble with and I'm not hating on that. (Mostly.) My main issue is with the fact that very few of these characters have any distinct features or styles. Other artists will at least give characters different hairstyles or fashion style to tell them apart. In LO all we have is their designated colour and as we see with all the people confusing Hebe and Hera, it's not good enough. @antiloreolympus took a picture of Hebe and did nothing but give her Persephone's colouring and for a while I was completely unable to figure out which was the original image. Being able to completely change the character in the scene just by changing their colouring is not great.
I’m not your slave you can’t tell me which characters I can and can’t interact with. Billy Hargrove is a vibe. Stop calling BIPOC billy fans slurs and yes fuckers do that.
is really weird how hades owns all the banks and basically invented capitalism and him wanting money is completely look.. but when literally any women has even the slightest interest or worry about finances and try to find a way to protect themself.. their suddenly selfish and a gold digger... Minthe and also made alot clearer in the some of the upcoming chapters leuce
