Steve had died in that interrogation room under Starcourt and now, he was stuck haunting Robin Buckley who might as well be his shortest heartbreak and long-lost twin.
The problem was she couldn't see or touch him.
No, she could hear him just fine, but physical contact was just impossible.
Steve, however, didn't care much so long as he had someone there to listen to his daily monologues. It was fun.
They bickered most of the time and while Robin always seemed sad that she couldn't hug him whenever he told her about his parents or how lonely he used to be before her, Steve was just happy with what he got.
Because even in death, he wasn't alone, and that was enough of a gift to him.
Then, the day his funeral was held, Steve was thankful that he had convinced Robin to attend considering it was how he reunited with the kids.
They all saw him.
A thing that Steve would never take for granted.
Robin didn't know what to do when they flocked around her and bombarded her with question after question, demanding to know why she was the one who got the privilege of being haunted by Steve.
"A privilege?" Robin burst into a laugh, giving them a ridiculous look.
"Of course, to think you've been haunted and actually having real conversations with a ghost every day is a revolutionary step into the spiritual science field," Dustin narrowed his eyes. "And I am very disappointed in you, Ms. Robin Buckley, for not telling me right away!"
"Just say you're jealous that Steve doesn't haunt you." Max rolled her eyes.
"You say it as if you're not jealous yourself!" Mike scowled at her.
"No, I'm not, you delusional nerd!" Max scowled back.
"Hey!"
"C'mon guys, don't fight," Lucas frowned and sighed in exasperation.
Noticing the odd looks from other people at the cemetery, Robin herded the kids into Steve's car that he had given her as a keepsake.
Once they were safely away from prying eyes, Robin clapped her hands to gather everyone's attention.
"Children!" She then continued under their curious gazes. "Steve-o here said he really appreciates that you munchkins care so much about him. But sadly, he can't leave my side. Like literally can't so if any of you want to see him, you can always seek me out whenever you see fit."
"Why are you saying all of this?" Mike squinted at her.
"Because Steve can't talk to us, obviously." Dustin responded haughtily, earning an eye roll from the other boy.
"Bingo!" Robin did a fist bump with Dustin.
Then, she held up a finger at them. "And before you ask, I can't see him. Or touch him."
She watched the kids look at the passenger seat before nodding at her.
It must be Steve who confirmed the truth, she thought.
As they went back to discussing Steve's incorporeal state, Robin had a feeling that she had unknowingly adopted a gaggle of troublesome ducklings who were going to give her grey hair very very soon.
"C'mon Robbie, it's a Halloween party," Steve begged. "Let's go have some fun! Don't your heart ache to watch your bestest friend rotting in sorrow while eating pumpkins?"
"First of all, I've never ever met anyone who uses 'heart' and 'ache' like that," Robin blew at her freshly painted nails.
"Well, now I'm your first. Didn't people always say special always come late?"
"I don't even want to correct you on all of that," Robin huffed quietly at Steve's goofy chuckle. "And no, Dingus, you don't eat pumpkins. Or if you do, I don't care."
"Please, Robbie, I just wanna have fun," Steve sighed dolefully. "It's been a long time ago since I went to a party." He sighed again and even sniffled a little.
When Robin groaned, a big grin stretched on his lips.
"Just this time." She narrowed her eyes at him, or precisely speaking, at the spot where she assumed he was sitting.
Sometimes, when she made a wrong guess, Steve would just move over to where her gaze stopped and continue talking her ears off.
"I promise you're gonna have so much fun, Robbie." Steve ruffled her hair even if his hand always passed right through her. It was still one of his hard-to-get-rid-of habits anyway.
By the time they arrived, the party was already full-blown and swarmed with people.
As Robin struggled her way through the crowd, Steve just walked beside her with barely any difficulties.
He bet she would curse him so much if she saw how comfortable he looked right now.
But then, his little moment of joy was cut short when he bumped into someone whose lips literally knocked against his.
As cliché as it might sound, he certainly felt the electricity running through his body from that single accidental kiss.
And belatedly, a realization dawned on him.
He had bumped right into someone.
He, a ghost, had bodily collided with a living human.
Shocked, Steve stepped back and was at a loss for what to do next.
Then, a shaky voice shook him out of his trance.
"Harrington?"
Staring into those scared Bambi's eyes, Steve clenched his jaw and forced himself to not panic.
"Munson."

I'm a huge supporter of the crocodad theory and I think you illustrated it beautifully
One of the aspects of this idea I don't see very often is Crocodile actually dealing with baby Luffy, so I like that you included that here. Taking care of a baby while your a wanted criminal can't be easy
If you don't mind me asking, when specifically do you think Crocodile dropped off Luffy?
I'm glad you liked my illustration! And yeah, I do not think Crocodile had Luffy for very long at all. It's just too dangerous for someone like him.
I actually only just began thinking so hard about crocodad au/theory like, yesterday? So i haven't thought too hard about it besides my feverish scribbling. But, it cannot have been too long after birthing him that he handed him off to Dragon, and Dragon couldn't have had him long either... I'd like it to be canon compliant, so Iva would have to have never seen or heard that Dragon had this kid.. so I'd imagine maybe a month tops after birth, that's when Crocodile really was not safe enough being a parent so he dropped the kid with Dragon, who immediately set out for Garp without even telling his revolutionaries where he was going? That's the way I'd see it all working, I think. Crocodile probably still wonders what would've happened, had he kept the child, and Luffy, by the end of the next week, was already with Garp or maybe even Makino, because I doubt Garp raised him from infancy
Once again my thoughts are jumbled but I hope the idea is there

You know I was wondering if Crocodile ever did have any kind of involvement with the Revolutionary Army in secret (lest the Government finds out and revokes his Shichibukai status), what kind of involvement would that even have been
And now, with both the Vegapunk/Ohara flashback and Kuma's flashback, it's being made very clear to us that the Revolutionary Army was broke as hell 22 years ago. Like the fact that this has been brought up twice now in a relatively short span of time is interesting to me, that's usually a sign it's not an unimportant plotpoint
But you know who would have had money to help fund the Army
A funny little warlord who would eventually go and build a fucking casino to run for funsies. A warlord who had to give the Government some of his Pirating Income to keep his warlord-status
Like Crocodile hated the Government anyways so why not help fund the Revolutionary Army in secret, out of spite if for no other reason
Vaguely related, but I keep on remembering this scene (post-Enies Lobby), which at first glance just seems like a basic Lore Dump
But then there's the
"Yet..."
(Or "however", she says "no ni" in Japanese and you could translate that in many ways, I would probably have gone with "however" but that wouldn't have fit into the speechbubble)
Mind you, the conversation just kind of ends there, next we see Garp realize he probably shouldn't have mentioned Dragon infront of such a massive audience, so wherever that "yet" was going to lead to we will never find out, because Oda conveniently changed the subject before we got to it
And you know. Like yes, Robin could be just expressing her shock over finding out that the leader of the Revolutionary Army had a child with someone
But also, Robin was a part of an organization that was trying to overthrow one of the founding countries of the World Government in an explicit attempt to go against said Government (compared to like, Blackbeard, who currently wants to make Fullalead into a "pirate country" that's a part OF the World Government)
Like you don't have to be a genius to look at Crocodile's ultimate goals and compare that to what Dragon is doing and find a few similarities here and there maybe
(Also like, Crocodile's equivalent in Romancing SaGa 2 is meant to be Wagnas, the queer-coded leader of the Seven Heroes (whom the OG Shichibukai are based on) who "hoped to help the world". You know, an interesting detail and all.)
Not to mention, during the time Robin spent with Baroque Works, if Crocodile was ever in contact with the Revolutionary Army at all, considdering she has the ability to easily spy on people and that she didn't trust Crocodile one bit, it wouldn't be unsurprising if she ever spied on Crocodile and/or just overheard a phone call or knew about Crocodile having secret spending habits or something
(Mind you, I'm not saying "she knew" Crocodile was involved with the Revolutionaries, more that she might've been Suspecting Things, that "yet" being about her connecting the dots while unsure if her conclusion was right or not)
Of course Crocodile's plans can't have been Dragon Approved by any means, especially considdering the Army had been looking for Robin for over 10 years (pre-timeskip)
Four years of which were with Crocodile. Like if he was FULLY allied with the Army and KNEW they were looking for Robin, surely he would've called Dragon and been like "hey I found the kid from Ohara, wanna come hang out" or something. But no, he had bigger plans and kept Robin a secret from the Revolutionaries and the Government alike
Also like, I have seen people question why the Revolutionaries weren't involved with Alabasta's rebellion at all, and "Oda hadn't come up with the Revolutionaries yet at the time of writing" (/"OP was meant to end at Alabasta at one point so there would've been no reason to introduce the subplot at that point") aside
Between Baroque Works being a secret organization working undercover (thus the Army might not have been aware of the civil war being manufactured), the framing of the King making him look bad and very much the type of monarch that deserved to be overthrown in the Army's eyes, and Crocodile maybe lying through his teeth about what was happening in the country... Yeah, the Army's lack of involvement with Alabasta suddenly makes sense
EDIT Minor addition: Just realized that because Crocodile was technically working for the Government, if the Revs ever did send forces to participate in Alabasta's civil army and taking down the throne, the Government could've easily ordered Crocodile to step in to stop the rebellion and take down the Revolutionaries, right? Because he was supposed to be on the Government's side, right? And surely the Army wouldn't have wanted to fight against Crocodile if they were secretly allied (Croc's secret betrayal aside), and if Crocodile refused to fight the Revs the Government could've seen that as a reason to revoke his Shichibukai rights (which wouldn't be great if they wanted to keep Crocodile in a position where he could fund the Army?). So it could've also been a case of it being for the best for everyone's sake to let this one play out "naturally"
But my point is
I'm just deeply intriqued by these little details and wonder if I'm Actually Masterfully Connecting The Dots Like a True Genius or just seeing a pattern where there's none.
Like this is far from confirming the theory, I'm just saying, the pieces do kinda fit together do they not

All the tour groups in Springfield should be very proud of me for how well I refrained from sharing all my fascinating Lincoln facts.
#there were so many school groups!#a giant one came in RIGHT AFTER i entered lincoln's cabinet room#part of me was screaming 'children i NEED to tell you about all these idiots and their insane drama!'#a smarter part of me understood that would be super weird#so instead i regaled different individuals of my own traveling party after we had the room to ourselves#then at lincoln's tomb we lucked out in getting there during the ten minutes of the day when school groups weren't there#which meant we got a personal tour from a guide who seemed thrilled to have grown-ups to talk to#he and my dad chatted about fishing for a long while in the entry#it didn't feel disrespectful because it totally felt like the kind of conversation lincoln would have understood and joined in on#and then we went on our way but the guide then chased us down to share all the fascinating lincoln stories as we went along#(shout-out to lefty you were great)#and then a school group found us so we made a graceful exit#but outside a teacher was explaining to a different group about how robert was significant in his own right so he's buried at arlington#and the RESTRAINT i showed in not immediately informing them that he was present at three presidential assassinations! it was rather heroic#and then when we toured lincoln's house the guide (who accidentally made it clear he was a revolutionary war buff)#(which made it a bit hilarious he was stuck with lincoln)#asked for questions before we started and someone asked about lincoln's 1860 election campaign!#aka one of my SPECIAL NICHE AREAS OF OBSESSION!#you cannot imagine how desperately i wanted to tell him ALL ABOUT seward and thurlow weed#anyway it was fun to go back now that i actually know stuff about lincoln#but it was also a bit frustrating because now i know how much they leave out#(though there was cool new info and artifacts)#(the blood-stained piece of laura keene's dress was very morbid and very cool)#also it reminded me that i still have that book on the 1860 election i've yet to read and the hype is so real#presidential talk

heard someone say (irl) a while ago that a partial solution to the housing crises/young people generally being priced out of owning was to build more condos.
except here's the thing. i'm financially better off than most of the people in that group. im privileged enough to have savings. i could not afford even a 10% down payment for anything other than a shoebox, and once i moved in, i'd be hit hard by monthly hoa fees, because yes, most condos in the area are in hoa areas. i'd be lucky to get 1k sqft condo for the equivalent of what my dad bought his 2k/7k house for at the turn of the century.
here's the other thing. landlords love to buy up condos and rent them out because in most places in california, condos aren't subject to rent control. i know this because i rent a condo. also? owners also don't have to even worry about common area management because they put their property into the hands of a property management company who just pays the previously mentioned hoa fees.
so. idk i guess it could be temporarily good for temporary slapdash construction jobs but it just feels like an incredibly ineffective solution when, simultaneously, there are literally a large number of massive mansions sitting empty 10-11 months of the year because they're someone's summer home.
#when i heard that i first thought about those multimillion 3 story monstrosities that have been popping up in the downtown areas#and was like . you think the average person can afford those?? most people i spoke to in those were rich assholes#then i remembered. wait. #1) it's not the fact that it's about the crusades it's the huge red flag that apparently flashbacks are the first thing on the#chopping block when netflix wants to tighten the budget while major action sequences go untouched#(think about how Netflix has prioritized its original films since RED NOTICE and since their stock started tumbling...)#(as I type this the action-bloated THE GRAY MAN is barely over 56% on RT)#2) character development/relationship dynamics is what made TOG stand out in a sea of sludge and flashbacks are a major#source of character-development particularly when dealing with beings who are CENTURIES old (show me... don't tell me)#3) nicky and joe are obviously not the main characters but they are very much part of the main group and their mere existence#(particularly joe's) often feels revolutionary in this shitty industry; every other old immortal getting a character-building flashback#except them doesn't sit right... i don't care about battlefields i just want a moment of them connecting/their relationship evolving#and after TTT i'm a bit wary of how often Yusuf's *history* as a queer MENA muslim immortal has been overlooked#(why wouldn't you want more flashbacks if they're used efficiently and show the sheer amount of time this group has spent together?)#(why even make a movie about immortal characters if you're not going to delve into the dizzying span of their respective lives even a bit?)#(it's not about the crusades being in the movie or not - it's that this suggests that netflix has de-prioritized flashbacks *in general*)#personal#will probably delete later#(i don't want my complete lack of faith in netflix to bring y'all down lol)

SHE'S FINALLY BECOMING THE WITCH SHE WANTS TO BE#AND IN THIS EP SHE UNKNOWINGLY RECRUITS HER BIGGEST FANBOY. THIS BOYS ABT TO BE OBSESSED W/ HER AND SHE DOESN'T EVEN KNOW#ough. killing them out of like. cuteness aggression#I'm still only on 2B of my rewatch but idk who I'm gonna be when i get to the specials. the haircut scene. the pinky link. hhhhh

me, sharing my personal book tbr wishlist with my family so they don't end up buying me books i already have for christmas: i am going to get a good grade in what kind of books i want to buy which is normal to want and possible to achieve
#liveblogging life#i have over 1k books it's now impossible to tell my family to just get me whatever lmao#but my book wishlist is mostly just for me so when i go to a booksore or w/e and my brain farts i can remember what books i want#but i took a quick look over it and like... took off a couple that i dont necessarily want my fucking mom to know i want to read lol#my reading habits are voracious eclectic and sometimes very weirdly diverse#like. i have classic scifi and also biographies on french revolutionaries#contemporary romcoms and university press examinations of homosocial behaviors in the ancient world#idk man!!! i see a book and i think 'hm that looks like it could provide me with serotonin' and i want to buy it#it's also got like 100+ books on it. sorry 2 my family.#i told my sister all i wanted this christmas was like. a book from my wishlist and she said s/t along the lines of#but you already have so many!#and im like. well. maybe the reason i have so many books is bc. i like books lol#like idg the 'you have so many already!' argument tbh. if i have a lot that proves i obvs like it enough to buy them all so#it's a great idea to get it for me a gift. what's to explain here.#anyway the point is that im weirdly nervous to share this with my family. what if they judge the books i want to buy. i have a REPUTATION.

I loved the Barbie movie but if I see one more post about how “it’s so beautiful because it was all practical effects not CG uwu ” I’m going to lose my goddamn mind
#what the fuck do you people think the 300+ vfx artist listed in the credits did?????#you think they’re just there for decoration???#honestly fuck Christopher Nolan and his ‘no cg’ bullshit and Greta Gerwig you’re a great director but you’re on thin fucking ice#insane watching directors lean and lean on cgi and vfx and then turn around and completely disavow it because it’s not…. idk?#it’s not popular atm? it’s not sexy enough?#god it makes me so angry#you do good work and you take pride in what you make and it looks amazing and your reward is ppl congratulating directors for not hiring you#people will see a puppet that’s been fully CGIed over and was poetic about how you can TELL it’s practical#looking at you Vecna and Jarnathan#and the most recent predator#I might delete this late but it sucks the industry is so fucked by the strike right now things are bad#and on top of it all the two biggest movies with HUGE vfx presences are sitting around preening about how they didn’t use vfx#for fucks sake#y’all want to support vfx artists? consider that we’re ARTISTS and not just a cheap replacement to practical things#or at least that we can be both idk#I’m already bracing myself for this shit to roll back around when my latest project comes out#I did not sell 18 months of my life it Aardman for ppl to set around talking about how revolutionary it is that there’s no cg in [redacted]
